Great fun, entertainment and food. First Friday is the great time to come out and enjoy dancing to oldies. The fried wings and fish is really good and well seasoned. This is suppose to be a "restaurant" and they did not have any high chairs or booster seats for children. We came out for their Father's Day dinner, which was a buffet that was not advertised on their flyer. I had to pay $12 for my 1year d daughter to eat! I asked one of the the waitress what was on the buffet menu, and she stated she didn't know, as a matter of fact...I believe she still does not know! This is my first time at this restaurant and lounge, emphasis on restaurant. Well, I must say the atmosphere was really nice, mature clientele, and very good DJ. We heard some good reviews about this and decided to give it a try. But, for some reason, more often than not, our businesses lack professionalism. Everybody knows in any successfully running business that has longevity is primarily due to a good business plan (operations), and greattttt... customer service (keep more & new clients), hence professionalism. The customer service was very lackadaisical. We booked this event in advance, which included the finger food that Marsha, owner provided. You know bite size fish pieces, bbq meatballs, and chicken wings. She charged us $65 for each platter times six, you do the math. It's not expensive, but it at least warrants hot not cold food delivered. And it took so long to get the food. No one came to our table to see if we even needed anything until my Mom had to solicit them to deliver food already paid for. She asked for water and the tall light skinned women told her she had to purchase a bottled water. Hellooo, you're a restaurant, do what restaurants do. Normal restaurants provide cups of ice cold water to their patrons to wash down the food they purchased, for free. We asked to take the leftovers and that was a task for them to simply wrap it up and bring the food back. We had to wait for that; they acted as though because we were leaving that we shouldn't take the leftovers. I really don't know what the deal was there just that it was extremely unprofessional on the owner's part (these are her workers). I will not be coming back and will let friends and family know as well. PS This will be okay to visit as a bar and that's it. read more

Lavender Blue is my new go to for a grown up chill atmosphere. The owner/operater Ms. Marsha is so accommodating and friendly. She even allowed us entry prior to her normal open time since we were interested in visiting and called ahead. Such a warm, open, airy and pleasant place for a cocktail and a small bite to eat after a long day or week of work. Diverse clientele is also a plus. A gem in the neighborhood. There's limited street parking, but there is a free parking lot adjacent to the structure and parking on 12th & Manchester. Music played from an audio system until the DJ arrived around 6pm and his selections were grown folk music...no hip-hop, no rap, just blues, & classic R&B...Marvin Gaye, Smokey Robinson, Betty White, Ojays etc. Happy hour drinks were $5 and the food selections were fresh and prepared with care. Lavender Blue is a great venue, but the security/doorman is not. I came to Lavender Blue to see a friend's performance. I met my mom there, so she paid my cover beforehand. Anyway, when I arrived I informed the doorman of the situation, and that my mother had already paid. He replied, "for what," I said, "for the event." He then becomes trite and says, "what event," as if there are multiple events going on, which it was not. Next he asked who my mom was, I told him, then he says, she didn't pay for you. Long story short, he is the most disrespectful, rude, ignorant person in life, and should not be working there. read more

I recently booked this venue for a repast. I had heard about it but have never been so I wasn't sure what to expect. As soon as I walked in the door and looked around and met Marsha I knew this was it! I didn't need to look any further. Marsha was so warm, professional and accommodating. I can honestly say everything I asked for she pleasantly provided. The music was good, nice dance floor and the food was absolutely delicious, oh and the drinks were most definitely "proper" my guest are still talking about the nice time they had. It was my Aunt and Uncles birthday who lives in Gardena, I had the catfish, salad and banana pudding delivered to them and they were in tears!!! They said the food was amazing, hot and flavorful. ​This is a review I meant to post a couple months ago. So we were on our way to see Louis C.K. At the Forum and wanted to grab a cocktail and appetizer before the show. Blue Lavender popped up and we thought why not? Most of the pics/reviews where for the event space so we didn't know if it'd be the right spot for us. We had a great time at BL because of 3 things: 1. Ambiance: Live R&B, purple curtains, comfy booths a warm presence. 2. Service/bar: our waiter was super friendly and fast. Our drinks were STIFF. I had a Cadillac margarita and my bf had a whisky and coke. also a patron at the bar bought us our first round (local vibe!) 3. Food: we had the "Pixies Wings" and they were finger lickin' good. OMG. fries were delicious too. Overall, I'd recommend anyone to come try this spot out. Apparently they have some really good fried chicken that I'll have to try next time. Coming from us Long Beachians that never really hangout in Inglewood, this was a memorable spot. read more

I exercise, and I pass this place everyday. Today, I saw a guy painting the window seals cobalt blue and I KNEW it was gonna be great. I live nearby so it was wonderful to drive down the street and park. My date and I ordered two small fried catfish meals. They were fresh and seasoned well (and I am pretty picky!) My friend and I were looking for the Oasis Steak house before seeing Fleetwood Mac at the Forum last night. We parked -- and walked to the restaurant but it turns out that it is now a wonderful, fantastic bar. The owner, Marsha, was amazing. She wasn't resentful when we asked where we could find a steak house. She spoke to us for a bit and then we saw the small menu that she had, we decided to eat some good soul chicken wings and fries. We stayed there for dinner. The chicken wings were unbelievable. I am white but grew up with a wonderful black housekeeper. It was as though I was eating the chicken wings my housekeeper would make for me. And the sweet potato fries were unbelievable. When I say homemade, I mean it. This was a perfect meal. As far as drinks, my friend had a dirty martini that was PERFECT. Well, she had 2. I had 2 beers. Anytime I go to the Forum in the future, this is where I will have dinner. Can you say hot ghetto mess. Went for a private party was charged $10.00 @ door drinks are unreasonably high. The floor was missing by bar and almost tripped (lawsuit in the making), and my friend paid $100 for a private table that only sat 4 but she squeezed in 6. After searching around town for a nice venue for my 50th Birthday Celebration, I came across Lavender Blue. My BFF suggested I come take a look at it after she went to a birthday party without me. I fell in love with it at first site. It was perfect for what I wanted. I was hesitant because of the previous Yelp reviews. But I took a chance anyway and the prices were reasonable. It was a little difficult communicating with the owner to reserve at first. But we figured out what the issues were. When I couldn't get through via email or phone. I would show up unannounced to pay for my party, but she would still meet with me. I entrusted Marsha with a very special milestone in my life and she made it a success. She allowed me to personalize my event with patience. She was always calm and professional. Every one loved the Lavender Blue. It is beautiful and classy.We didn't need a lot of decorations because its already pretty. The Dj rocked the house and made me feel extra special all night. The food is great . I went there for a party the place was packed everyone was dressed up in suits and dresses and the music was amazing. The owner was very nice and I believe they serve food there but I didn't eat. We can not begin to tell you how amazingly pleased we were with Ms. Marsha and her team, from the beginning to the end for the outstanding service they provided. Contacting them on Wednesday (leaving a voicemail message), she replied on Thursday, we met on Friday, and the repast was that following Tuesday. Marsha was very professional, compassionate and easy going. She worked with us to ensure that our needs were being met which included accommodating a small number of family members on plant based diets. First of all they have a banquet room that is elegantly decorated and big enough to accommodate a large parties. Nice place. Came here for a friend's birthday party and was really impressed...until I ordered a drink. Waitresses are rude and hard to flag down. Despite tipping more than 20% for each drink I couldn't get a glass of water WITH my drink no matter how many times I asked.
