Visited Lavergne's yesterday evening and really enjoyed the relaxed atmosphere and excellent food. Our server, Anushka, was really personable and helped me choose from the many dinner options I was considering. I ended up having the shrimp & avocado salad, and it was delicious and fresh--the perfect summer salad. We have been coming to Lavergne's off and on since they opened and had to give a shout out for great service and food. Anushka--thanks for having such a positive attitude! Sat outdoors last night with a group of 8, including 3 kids. The staff is very attentive, and the patio is great for kids that cannot sit still. We ordered for the kids first, and their food came out pronto! So we adults could chat among ourselves. I ordered the Barria Grilled Cheese, and it was amazing. The beef was tender and so flavorful The cheese was gooey and a perfect compliment to the spice in the beef. And the bread was well toasted and crispy. The dipping sauce completed the flavor bomb I experienced with every bite! This will probably be my go to meal at Lavernes. The service here is great as well! read more

I've been to Lavergne's many time, always great food. But lately, the food has been really forgettable. Sad, because this spot used to be so amazing. Food wasn't that great, they seemed like they would have a good beer selection but the lady taking our order was in like super bitch mode when we ordered a bunch of $2 flight drinks to try some IL beers. Was not impressed with her attitude or lack of welcoming. Pretzel would have been good with real beer cheese. Just make the effort. Overall ehhh. Wouldn't recommend to anyone passing through. Also no evidence they sanitized. NO signs showing this table used, this table sanitized, so that part is questionable. read more

Just a quick note to mention how wonderful this restaurant is. My family and I order from here quite often and the food is always GREAT!! Tonight, I couldn't go pick it up because I need to stay close to home. I ordered through GrubHub, and it was an expensive order! (PLEASE NOTE: It was a lot of food! The prices at Lavergne's are VERY reasonable!!). But GrubHub dropped the food off at the wrong address. I called to ask for a refund, and they explained to me that they couldn't help me. I'd have to deal with GrubHub directly. However, the manager, a wonderful person named Danielle, actually took the time to call GrubHub on my behalf, spoke to a human and called me back with an update! All during dinner hours on a Friday night!!! That is way above an beyond. I can't recommend Lavergne's highly enough. The food is excellent, and there's a lot of variety. What a nice surprise. I told my son and his wife that their 2 for 2, because they recommended #theheritage in Forest Park. Anyway, I was pleasantly surprised. The restaurant and patio were very nice. Let's get to the delicious part of my afternoon. My daughter in law was drinking this refreshing watermelon drink and it was so delicious and refreshing, I had to order another one. The menu looked yummy too. I ordered the Mahi Mahi tacos and man was those tacos delicious. They come three to an order and yes I ate all 3. I was surprised at my experience here, proves you can't judge a pub by its label. I has a really pleasant lunch here and our bartender was truly joyous and kind. I chose the tofu banh mi sandwich and honestly it was SO GOOD. I would definitely order again. Big portion on fresh french bread. They didn't skimp on the tofu/sauce/filling. The thai sauce was a nice blend of sweet and light heat. The fries were a tinyy bit soggy, but still good. Hard to hate french fries in my book. Boyfriend ordered the Nashville hot chicken which he enjoyed and said it was just hot enough. I tried his coffee old fashioned (mind you I normally dont like these) and it was actually good and balanced out the bitters nicely. The place was quite dark inside, with just natural lighting coming in kind of harsh, but I did like the old school name lettering on the back of the bar. Our service was great and the food came out fast today. Not bad for 2pm on a Saturday! I'm still shocked how good the food was considering its location and general upsvale pub appearance. First time here and it won't be the last. Thanks Yelp Fam for the great reviews on the place. It didn't disappoint. We got here late and the mood was great. Everyone was upbeat and acted like they were happy to see us. Our server, NeNe, was amazing. Can you believe they ran out of Blue Moon? No worries! The on-tap menu was extensive and I was able to get a comparable sub. They also have a extensive array of craft cocktails and drinks. Upon NeNe's recommendations, we tasted the veggie noodle soup, ordered the egg rolls, fish tacos and El Diablo burger (sans bacon). Everything was very good. They made it fresh, so it was piping hot when it arrived at the table. Don't forget the tater tots with the burger! The ambiance was so great, I ordered the featured dessert-- flourless chocolate cake with pistachio cream sauce. So I passed on the whipped cream (not a fan). Lavergne's Tavern is the type of place that every neighborhood should have. Lavergne's is a mix of a bar, sports bar and restaurant with a patio too. We were in town to visit my family and celebrate my nephews birthday. My brother had been telling me about this place and that we needed to go here. Credit to Amy for finding Lavergne's Amy if you read this review, nice job girl! It's great going out to eat with family because you get to try other dishes. We've been hearing about their Italian beef egg rolls, so we started with two orders of those. Those just made my favorites list of appetizers. These were so good! I have to admit I initially wasn't sure about these. I couldn't have been more wrong. Where I thought the beef could be dry or chewing from frying, it was melt in your mouth tender. They actually grind the giadiniera so its not chunky so it blends in perfectly. The crispy egg roll was the perfect contrast for the beef. I may have found a new way to eat my "beefs". The entree's were all good. I had the meatloaf which was served as a nice thick slice with garlic mashed potatoes. Comfort on a plate. My nephew had Cajun Grillades which was smoked confit pork shoulder over cheese grits. Double comfort! If you have not had any meat cooked confit style, you are missing out. The pork was smokey and so tender. The cheesy grits made us feel like we were back in Charleston. Amy had the Sea Bass, my brother the baconator burger (enough said there) and my wife had chicken tacos. The Sea Bass, yes Sea Bass was like eating at a fine restaurant, not a local establishment. The tacos tasted as good as tacos at a good Mexican place. All the food was really good although those Italian beef egg rolls stole the show. Probably a good thing we don't live here otherwise we'd be here having a beer and egg rolls after work every night. For now we'll settle for a visit next time we are in town. read more

First off let me say we LOVE Lavergne's the food is delicious, apps, entrees all of it but we were really disappointed in what they were doing in regards to the guidelines for new restaurant procedures due to COVID-19. We really appreciated the fact that all the servers were wearing masks but as tables begin to clear and they picked up items we noticed that they were using the same rag for each table and not rinsing it or not even using any type of sanitation spray. It also states that they would use single-use menus after each customer and that did not seem to be the case with the food menu's. We even saw them wipe the menus with the same rag they used for the tables. I am really just concerned for the safety of everyone including the employees. I hope management and owners take these procedures more serious. read more

Went in for a quick bite to eat and we were sadly disappointed. Ordered Nashville Spicy Chicken sandwich, super greasy and it almost looked and tasted like it was sitting out and to reheat the chicken it was dipped in grease to reheat. Stomach started to hurt afterwards due to the grease. Luckily I only ate half the sandwich. My BF recommended I eat the chicken because according to him it was very tasty. To my sad surprise I was highly disappointed. The establishment has great specials but I felt like they were understaffed which probably led to the bad chicken sandwich. I went with the wife for dinner. We waited a while for the waitress to attend us as she was following up with her table right next to us. We were completely ignored even though she saw us. As she walked away from the table right next to us. We waited some more and she never came. Instead she attended the other able next to us that had just walked in. We were there 20 minutes before them. I wanted to tell her something as she took their order but I didn't want to make that table feel uncomfortable. I had a cucumber mojito (well, 2...) which was refreshing with the right balance of sweetness. I would have had more but I controlled myself....Then I shared a nice grilled asparagus appetizer with my friend--very good with Parmesan cheese and balsamic vinegar. For dinner we shared the Cuban tacos--CRAZY good!! They had just the right amount of pork belly, mango, jalapeño...omg. We also had the gyros "tacos"--equally amazing on perfectly grilled pita. I was blown away at the food coming out of this joint! ! I came here because of the raving reviews from several local families. Even though I'm not supposed to be eating gluten, I caved for this restaurant. My family and I ordered our drinks (nice size drink menu for adults mainly beer but still nice selection). The 4 of us then shared the (Roast Beef) Egg Roll (very juicy, flavorful & better tasting beef than Chicago's big well known chain) even the arugala served with a drizzle of a horseradish dressing was delicious , Pretzel fluffy and cheese sauce had just enough spice... Thai Chili Wings (not only were crunchy but flavor packed a nice punch) , and Depot Fries ( freaking chili with smothered cheese & delicious goodness mixed on top).........i think they had me at the Egg roll roast beef & Wings! So our entrees consisted of a huge kids burger (bigger than normal kids burgers definitely worth the$), kids chicken tenders (eh, this was kinda tiny and disappointing for me), my hubby enjoyed a savory Hamburgesa (Spanish name for hamburger) their twist was that not only did it have the delicious beef, but chorizo sausage, jalapenos, black beans mix, that mixed so well my minds still Blown! I enjoyed every bite of my District Dip......... OMFG!!! herb & garlic roasted beef tenderloin, provolone, horseradish mayo, onion, tomato, greens, au jus.... The bread so soft with a small crisp to it..... then a side of fresh cole slaw (made as a vinegar base) nom nom nom....The best tasting food I've had in a while!
