Came here for my 2nd visit. And this visit was spectacular. They poured an all red flight for us and top to bottom the wines were spectacular. We had members in our party join the club and for good reason. We've come to Brecon twice now, and it has quickly become one of my favorite spots in the area, and a go-to recommendation for friends visiting Paso. Breton Estate is the home of the original Norman Vineyards. The new owners have renovated the tasting room and grounds and the property is beautiful and inviting. The wines are stunning and the service is as well! We were greeted by Cheryl as we walked up the tranquil tree lined path to the tasting room. She is warm and welcoming and quickly suggested we find a seat and returned with ice cold water and menus. The list of wines is brief but excellent and we had a wonderful tasting under the trees. Tips: Make an appointment on Tok on the winery website for your tasting. Indoor seating is available but limited. Plenty of outdoor seating. Dogs on leash are allowed. Came here end of August when we had time for 1 winery on first day in Paso. Our friend recommended Brecon, so we called and luckily they said we can come in. Rachel was the one who my BF spoke to and was the one who seated us right when we got there. She was very welcoming and really nice. They got a bit busy, so we got our second and the rest of our pours from Pat. Pat was fantastic! He knew his stuff. We also got to know him a little bit on a personal level, which Is always nice. We were the last customers and we did not feel rushed what so ever! Definitely coming back here! The wines were good, I liked their Grenache and Forty -two and some of their reds. We tried a couple of Brecon wines at a tasting event last February and made a note to stop by on our next Paso trip. Made an appointment for Thursday afternoon. Because of Covid19 they are having tastings outside but it was a perfect warm, but not too warm sunny day. The wines we tasted were all very good but we ended up buying a bottle of reserve Cabernet. There was a Syrah/Tannat on the back side of the menu that sounded interesting so I asked if we could try it. The tasting room manager said that they didn't have any of those wines open but I had heard another employee, (an older Caucasian gentleman) serve some to another group. Overall it was a good experience but I wish they had given us some more information with the wines. Basically all they did was say, "This is such and such wine", pour and walk away. We enjoyed our lunch that we brought with us from Hush Harbor in Atasacadero in their park-like setting surrounded by nature. The Scrub Jay couple that visited our table remained socially distant while they sang to each other as we enhance our tastings. We joined the club...it was too good not to! What a beautiful spot to taste some delicious wine! Jim G. and I were visiting the bestie in Atascadero and this was the first place she booked for us to visit. After we parked, we crossed a wonderful bridge and meandered down a tree-lined path to the front of the tasting room. It was a lovely afternoon and we enjoyed the expansive patio where we tasted 5 wines for the $20 tasting fee. (I do recall a time in Paso when all tastings were free and they gave you a glass! My, things have changed, lol!). Tasting fee is waived with the purchase of two bottles. Everyone who helped us was kind and helpful and the wines were pretty good! I always appreciate a place who makes Albariño and their cab franc was full-bodied and tannic, which is right up my alley! While it doesn't really matter, not all their wines are actually 'estate wines;' that is just their winery name. One minor complaint, I do wish the tasting notes had more info about the wine (blend percentages, what's the varietal in the Forty Two, etc) rather than an exercise in creative writing; that would be especially helpful later at home when opening bottles we've purchased. If you get there early enough, you can linger after your appointment and buy wine by the glass and/or bottle and enjoy a little cheese plate. We got there too near to closing, but we might take advantage of that next time! read more

This place could, should and probably will be a sure 5 star spot. The grounds are gorgeous and I found the facility similar to one of my favorite wineries, Cade in Howell Mountain which is a supreme compliment. Lots of outdoor seating with a nice tasting bar inside. We opted for the latter since it was a warm day. I really enjoyed the wines, the packaging and the general vibe of the place. I'm deducting a star for the service and frankly, I could have deducted more but I want to love Brecon and I'm not out to do a "hit job" review. I'm hoping they'll really fix the service standards so I can have a stunning place to recommend to my wine friends. We stood at the counter for quite a while before we were acknowledged even though there were many employees behind the counter. One was chatting with personal friends (judging from the conversation). One guy was scrolling his phone and a couple of others were standing there looking outside. The "personal friends group" eventually left and another group of 5 decided to continue their tasting outside so my wife and I were the only ones at the counter but we had to ask for each pour. I asked for the story of the winery and got a few disinterested soundbites and looked through the leather-bound book on the counter to find what I wanted. Again, on the wine, same story. I cheerfully asked questions about the wines and got very curt answers. Not surly. Just rote "get it over with" answers. We go to a lot of wineries in Napa, Livermore, Santa Barbara and other places and this was our first extended trip to Paso and we were pretty excited. We do some social media and customer experience work with some wineries and I found so many "best practices" here that I walked in ready and wanting to be dazzled only to be let down by the service aspect. By the end, we were anxious just to pay our tasting fees. We usually buy bottles to avoid that and I loved the wine so normally, that's what I would have done but we were just kind of over it at that point. It all seems so fixable but at the same time, there was a frustrating sense that all this was standard operating procedure. So, all that said, we will be back on the chance that we just caught them at a bad time. If I were the nice family that owns Brecon, I'd work on coming up with some attainable standards on the tasting experience and this place will absolutely rock the next time we come in. read more

As you make your way from your car to the tasting room, you're greeted by their rows of vines, picturesque bridge, Brecon photo op frame, green spaces, corn hole, and beautiful outdoor seating areas (loved their orange accent pillows). Our server was kind and attentive, and we enjoyed our wine tastings (with the viognier being my favorite). One area for improvement is their food offerings. For such a gorgeous winery, serving food in plastic containers does their business such a disservice. If just doesn't match the environment and all their other great offerings.
