I'm here for the first time with my mom (it's December). I don't think I've been to Hawaii this time of year but I feel like it's summer over here, so beautiful. Mom and dad have had a timeshare here for years, dad passed 5 months ago and since Mom had had a reservation since last year, she took me instead. It's been such a special time honoring my dad who absolutely loved sitting on the lanai, drinking his macadamia nut coffee, reading books and going snorkeling. They always get the same room 2314 - third floor up on the very left of the main building. I've attached a video. The most amazing view ever and SO relaxing. For the first 2 1/2 days mom and I just read book after book. We sat on the lanai and just relaxed from the crazy past five months. It was perfect. For the first two dinners here we ate at the food trucks that the resort now has booked in the evenings. One was pizza (Pizza Poundahz) and the other Mexican food (Baja Chalupas). The pizza truck was really, really good and the girl running it was super sweet. The Mexican food was just so so and the guy running it didn't have 1 ounce of personality and definitely not customer friendly (aargh). But I love that the resort has this option so we didn't have to go out, just grabbed our dinner and took it back to our room. Perfect! Beyond all that I would definitely come back here, although I myself don't buy into timeshares. The place is top notch, super clean and well stocked. The Wi-Fi was easy to connect to. They supply enough coffee filters for a week, and one days worth of coffee grounds. Thank you! Being an end unit, we not only have open windows in the front and back but on the side as well, which is so nice. There's no air-conditioning here which I really think they should have even if it's one unit per room, but yes, the tradewinds are nice, but it's still Hawaii-humid, and sometimes kind of uncomfortable. Mom said they've updated a few things in the room like the couch and comfy chairs, etc. This unit has two bedrooms, the second being two twin beds. In my opinion, they should have a king size bed in each room so you can bring another couple. Kids always love sleeping together anyway if you bring a family so having two twin beds is a little weird to me. Overall, we've been super happy. This location is amazing having a top-notch snorkel spot right across the road. There are so many great shops and restaurants in Poipu. You need to go nowhere else! read more

We love everything about it. They've renovated most of the rooms. Air conditioning is being added. The decor is modern. The grounds are impeccably well kept. There is a workout room on the rooftop as well as miniature golf and pickleball courts (modified tennis courts). There are bbq's throughout the various buildings. The kitchens have just about anything you'd need for cooking. There are a couple of different swimming pools. The beach is right across the street and the snorkeling is amazing. You can walk to Spouting Horn. You can walk to the shopping centers and restaurants. You can rent bikes. There are various food trucks on the property on different days. There is a farmers market on Friday (if I remember correctly). The fruits and vegetables are so fresh and fairly priced. DO NOT BUY fruit/vegetables from the street vendors. Complete rip-off. They have different activities daily for people that like to keep busy. The price could not be any more affordable. What we pay to stay there for a week is less than 3 nights at the big brand hotels in the area. You can buy in fairly inexpensively if a prior owner wants out or defaults. We have been staying here for a few years now. You need to take the Rum tour that's about 30 minutes away. Good times! read more

We stayed at Lawai Beach Resort 8/2 - 8/6/2025. Great resort!! Our room was clean and had all the basic essentials we needed: shampoo, towels, toilet paper, tissue paper, plates, bowls, cups, utensils, cutting board, soaps, detergent, dish washer soap, hair blow dryer, iron, iron board, etc etc etc. Staffs were sweet. You can check out movies to watch. On to of the parking garage, there was the gym, ping ping table, pool, mini golf, tennis, pickle ball & other games. The beach is right there. I see people surfing. If you can avoid this place, do it. We won a week at the Lawai Beach resort in an auction benefiting our child's school in California. We thought it was a win-win situation, but man...we were wrong. We, of course, ended up in the Coral building. The room was old, disgusting, full of bugs, and dingy. There's no AC and the noise level from other guests is crazy. Maybe this was just because we were on the first floor. We had 5 days booked there and couldn't take it anymore after 2 days. We ended up renting a beautiful home in Poipu Beach Estates for the remainder of our stay. Tons of money wasted, but lesson learned. read more

We had a lovely week here through RCI. We had a partial ocean view in the Coral building and right opposite the Beach House. I read lots of reviews that mentioned no ac in the units here but enough breeze to keep cool. I found it too humid and warm in the rooms. I actually slept on the pullout bed to be near the windows/patio. That's the only thing I struggled with other than the noise sometimes across from the main road. Having been here twice, we recently enjoyed a 1-week stay at Lawai Beach Resort thanks to a friend letting us use their timeshare. Despite being a timeshare resort... the staff weren't at all pushy about us getting our own unit, and pre-COVID they had welcome breakfasts that provided info on the island (these were NOT timeshare presentations). It's an older resort and we were in one of the older buildings (Coral), but the location can't be beat - it's a hop, skip, and a step away from one of the best snorkeling spots on the island. It was great not to have to worry about parking (since you get a parking spot with each stay) and we could shower right after a snorkel sessions. They have rinse stations all around the resort as well. There's an awesome shaved ice stand next to it, and it's within walking distance to great shopping and food. Our 1 bedroom unit was large for 2 people, could easily fit 4 people with the sofa bed. Furniture felt very Hawaiian with rattan, palm, etc. If you're looking for modern digs... go somewhere else. Bed felt a little stiff but we were fine. Plenty of kitchen equipment is provided as well (see photo) if you want to cook meals. The shopping plaza hosts a farmer's market on some days which is a great opportunity to try cooking a meal. I love that they even have an herb garden for guests to use - it has basil, chives, rosemary, etc. The facilities were a little dated but nice - plenty of BBQ grills available and a variety of pools to use (the nicest one next to the check-in lobby). I've used the exercise equipment in the past and it was sufficient. We even got to play some mini golf on their rooftop course - it was fun and they provided all the equipment for it, in addition to pickle ball (there was a court nearby). There are a ton of amenities at this resort, including a room where you can borrow games and DVD's, a concierge to help book activities, and some grocery delivery services if needed. A few things to note... If you're in the Coral Building, laundry is available in a laundry room (instead of a unit) open set hours... normally this wouldn't bother me but guests were really bad at getting their laundry when it was done drying. Seriously, not that hard to set a timer! Noise level will be highly dependent on how the lovebirds are feeling and who your neighbors are. The first time I visited a few years ago the lovebirds were super loud in the morning (they would hang out in the palm trees next to my unit). The 2nd time, I had to deal with some awfully loud neighbors who kept their front door open, so I could hear all of their political/Trump discussions. Subject aside, they were LOUD AF - I'm not sure if the resort has a quiet hours policy but they were loud past 10 pm! No A/C, but the ceiling fans and trade winds from open windows kept us cool during our stay in September. Especially at night - I heard they sometimes rent out portable A/C units but we weren't able to get one. We're also from the Bay Area so we're able to handle heat - your mileage may vary. They don't provide conditioner - they provide shampoo and soap. So plan ahead to bring conditioner, otherwise you'll end up buying a full size bottle! The drug stores nearby were all out of travel sized conditioner... I can only imagine why. Overall, if you get an opportunity to stay here I think it's worth it! The location is excellent and they have plenty of amenities. I didn't run into any of the "nickel and dime" complaints, but I also didn't need an excessive amount of towels or had trouble keeping my wrist bracelet for the pool. read more

A solid choice for Kauai lodging. We were in the 2 bedroom unit, one room with a king size bed and one room with two twins. It was overall a very comfortable, very large unit, furniture was all cozy and the kitchen was fully stocked with quality cooking supplies. The location is unmatched. Right across from a small beach where lots of people come for snorkeling, and to watch the sunset for the "green flash." I will say, it's tucked inward from the any of the main cities, which I joked meant that anything we wanted to do was "about 30 minutes away." Which comes with pros and cons for sure, but I loved how it was isolated without much traffic. I would absolutely stay here again. read more

We were not initially impressed when we arrived, and were horrified to find that there was no air conditioner! haha .. however, after about a day or two we were loving it here. Of course we had a balcony facing the ocean and the location is perfect for gazing out and just relaxing. The property itself is old (I think we were in the oldest building) but the child loved the amenities and it was easy to get in and out. We'd definitely stay here again and recommend to anyone. It is not a resort, but a very family friendly lodging with a worn feel. If you're okay with that, you will love it. If you're a germ phobe and will cringe at any imperfection, you should probably not book here though :) read more

I've been coming here since my parents got a timeshare in the 1980's. I think it deserves my 5 stars even though I'm familiar with the place's shortcomings. Pros: Friendly and helpful staff Beautiful landscaping Decent amenities. Each building has an excellent pool & hot tub In-unit full kitchen & washer/drier are game changers (more of a condo vs. hotel argument) Fantastic location; across the street from what I consider the best snorkeling beach on the island, close to shopping & restaurants, a golf course (I don't golf myself so can't speak to that,) the Spouting Horn, and the Prince Kuhio monument Cons: Most of the units don't have A/C The fitness center is too small for a complex of this size, and underequipped. For me, this is a big deal You'll be woken up by roosters at like 5am (probably true of a lot of places on the island) They have been scaling back on amenities (someone mentioned the Mai Tais they used to hand you when you arrived... I remember them fondly!) All of the negatives about time-shares apply I really do love my vacations here. For me, it's almost like a 2nd-3rd home, which means I love it even if I'm well aware of its shortcomings. If you come here, I think you'll have a lovely time. Enjoy the view from your lanai (almost every unit has a gorgeous ocean view!) and maybe sneak down to the Ali'i pool around sunset to see the flocks of parrots by the big tree. read more

Fourth time we have stayed at Lawai Beach Resort, ocean view timeshare on Kauai, walking distance of a dozen restaurants, snorkeling across the street at Lawai Beach. Came here Friday, previously on Tuesday or Thursday. Direct flights from San Jose to Lihue only on select weekdays in December and March. Called as soon as we got a rental car at Lihue airport 14 miles, 27 minute drive away. Room was ready at noon, 4 hours early. Stopped by Costco 12 miles and a 23 minute drive away. If you arrive before your room is ready, the lobby has a refrigerator. Luggage carts and elevators available . Again assigned room in either the oldest building Coral, with obstructed ocean view, or bottom floor of Alii or Banyan, as owners reserve upper floors of Alii and Banyan with the best ocean views 2 years in advance. Drove up to the third floor of the garage parking structure adjacent to Coral, with fitness center, tennis court, and miniature golf on top of the structure. Can unload luggage without getting rained on, in Kauai, the rainiest of the Hawaiian islands. 3308 a third floor Coral two bedroom unit, 30' x 33' or 1000 square feet, double the size of a one bedroom unit. Pull out sofa bed in the living room. Unit sleeps 6, but only 1 bathroom. No AC. Cross ventilation through window louvers in bedroom, above front doorway, and sliding window balcony. Ceiling fans in both bedrooms and living room. Floor to ceiling full room width balcony door/sliding window facing the ocean. Keeping the room cool meant closing the windows and curtains when out during the day. Sister in bedroom next to corridor bothered by TV noise from next door bedroom on corridor late at night. 3 flat screen TVs and overhead ceiling fans in living room and both bedrooms. Fully equipped kitchen, with four burner electric stove, full size refrigerator, dishwasher, granite counters, and coffee maker. Bring your own folding ice chests for picnics. Narrow galley kitchen can only hold 2, even though 6 people may be in unit. Tiny granite bathroom sink counter, full bathtub/shower, quiet vent. Resort supplies one 2 ounce conditioner/shampoo. Won't last one week for 6 people. Bring your own. Ali and Banyan units have their own washer/dryer, whereas Coral has a communal room with 4 washers and 4 dryers. Linen closet has 12 beach towels, 12 bath towels, 12 hand drying towels, and 12 wash cloths. If you have 6 people, you are limited to 2 bath towels each for the week! Wife had to give mac serial number of Kindle tablet to wifi provider to get wifi connection. Convenient garbage chute near elevator on each floor. Hula show Wednesdays in the lobby. 30 minute walk to Spouting Horn, with no sidewalks the last half mile, along winding road, passing Allerton's Tropical Gardens, with Hula show Thursdays at 2pm . Jogged on the mile long concrete sidewalk, past golf course and the $4 million ocean front homes to Kukuiula Beach. Walked 17 minutes uphill on sidewalks with no street lights, using flashlights to The Shops of Kukuiulas: Eating House 1849, Merriman's, and Kiwae Roots. Wednesdays farmers market, Friday evenings live Hawaiian music. Walked 30 minutes to Keoki's Paradise and Anuenue Cafe in Poipu Shopping Village, street lights, but no sidewalks the last quarter mile. Walk on side with bike lane. Bring flashlight, or become road kill! Poipu Beach 2 miles away, Shipwreck Beach and start of Makauwahi Heritage trail to Makawehi Lithified Cliffs and Makauwahi Cave 3 miles away. Big Save supermarket 2.4 miles drive in old Koloa, which has farmers market Mondays. Waimea canyon 29 miles or 53 minute drive away. Carabella's Pizza food truck Tuesdays, and Rafael's Aloha Tacos food Wednesdays in the parking lot. But sister doesn't eat pizza, nor Mexican food. No housekeeping during our week stay. $150.51 surcharge on departure , including $75 resort fee and the rest taxes. First time Hawaii taxed timeshares, unlike hotel rooms. Downgraded from 5 stars to 3 stars. Up to 6 people sharing 1 bathroom for a week? Not told in advance that it had only 1 bathroom. The 24 two bedroom units on the ends of the 3 buildings, have 2 bathrooms and 3 balconies. Still want to stay here? Try www.redweek.com for openings. First night wife woke up at 4am to go to bathroom. I woke up at 530am to go to the bathroom, only to find sister had started to take a 15 minute shower. Tough to walk 200 yards to the lobby bathroom in the Banyan building, on an overflowing bladder! Next night sister waited until I had gone to the bathroom in the early morning, before taking shower. Toilet seat down meant wife had last used bathroom, toilet seat up meant I had last used bathroom! read more

This is a small (three units) condominium/time share resort that doesn't have lots of "entertainments," but is perfectly situated across from a small beach and great snorkeling area. One and two bdrm units are spacious, nicely furnished, and clean. Views of the ocean, sunrises and sunsets are great! My husband and I bought a timeshare here 29 years ago. We've been coming back every few years since. Usually we have a great time. In past years, we have received a Lei upon arrival and a Mai tai. Unfortunately, this year has not met our expectations, and we've only been here 2 days. The house keeping staff got into an argument with my MIL when she asked for wash clothes, they charged us for coffee (that used to be included), and the plumbing in our unit needs to be updated. We also noticed that the dryer in our families unit isn't drying the towels. Something is going on with the staff as they don't care. The Aloha spirit is gone from this place. read more

Not sure what is going on, however we have owned for many years here. Great location... but they have 4 umbrellas in this hot sun and only 2 are semi mobile from the 2 table ones and the female manager says, that is all we have for the main pool. Sooooo should we go buy some Tommy Bahama ones at Costco and stick them in the lawn to get shade? Also upon checking in our room. The maid cleaned all the glass with the same furniture polishing towel it looked like and streaks where everywhere with a film. From the tv to the counters. It looked dirty. Then the new furniture smells like over smoked wood which is very overpowering. They need to wipe them down with something to take the smell out. The little things add up too big and when you consider buying another timeshare at this location and they don't really care. Shower was clogged. Hot tub is out of service. People have been leaving the pool because they don't have shade. They even had ambulance come to the pool yesterday.... was it from heatstroke and no shade? Not sure, however they should care a little more. They even have the quiet pool with screaming kids. Who is maintaining these things? This is not what we expected. read more

Really pretty nice beach resort right next to Lawai beach and poipu beach. A lot of amenities including miniature golf and ping pong. Their island juice machine was not working unfortunately. Also, I discovered some units had air conditioning units placed in after arrival and others didn't. They have solar panels on all their rooftops. I was thinking it was a little unfair with the preferential treatment in some rooms with air conditioning. It looked like all units could have ac units. It wasn't too hot when we arrived but it did get hot towards when we were leaving. I think they really should not be stingy on the ac since they have solar panels. Also, I would suggest for their gym hours to be 24/7 vs certain times. There were no ants/ rodents/ pests observed and the units seemed really clean. They also were pretty big and spacious with lots of amenities from washer/ dryer, dishwasher, toaster, microwave and all plates/ dishes/ Utensils. Really liked the resort and would consider staying here again. read more

Units are tasteful and understated, we stay in the Alii building with amenities including dishwasher, washer/dryer, bbq grills are plentiful and in good repair. We have been going here since 2000. It has aged like a fine wine with newer accommodations. It is across from the beach, very walkable and the staff is super helpful. You have a full kitchen with BBQ's by the pool. Really a relaxing place that we have great memories from. I look forward to visiting. BTW, Kate was super helpful and had great ideas for us! Stayed here with my family in August. There is no AC in the units even though Poipu is the hottest area of the island. Even with the windows open all night, the lowest temp was 75 in the room at night and 85 during the day. We had to store my daughters M&Ms in the fridge because they were melting. The entire roof of all three buildings were solar panels (387 or so panels alone on the east building which has 52 rooms) so they had the electricity, they are just pocketing the excess electrical income. That building alone was making way more than 699 kilowatts a day of electricity which translates to 13.5kw a day per room. An AC running in 108 degree temperature in California uses 16kw and that AC is 25 years old. The hotel does not come and clean your room while you stay there. If you need a room clean during your stay that is another 45 dollars. The hotel won't change your towels not once. You can wash your own towels or pay 25 for a towel exchange. The hotel does not have activities like other timeshare condos (like hula lessons, lei making, meet and great). You have to drive everywhere to get food, nothing close by. The beach they are close to is sharp lava rock with maybe 10' of sand. Will never go back to that place. Ever. read more

This was our second stay at this condo on Poipu Beach, it was even better than the first time. They have upped their game and remodeled units and improved all around. We were in a one bedroom in the Alli building and right by the pool. The only negative was we were on the first floor so didn't have a view of the ocean. We could still hear it and so relaxing. They provide Tide pods and dishwashing pods so that was nice. Security is always walking around so felt safe and there pools were never crowded. It's an older clientele so everyone goes to bed pretty early. A lot the ppl there are retired and come yearly. We grilled by the pool nightly and grills are equipment is very nice. We would love to come back and are hoping too. read more

We have enjoyed a great week here at Lawaii Beach Resort on Kauai. This is our second time staying here. We stayed here in 2005 and now again in 2017. This is timeshare resort and most if the people here are either owners or those using points or a week through an exchange. Most of the units are 1 bedroom and a few are 2 bedroom. The units are recently updated with nice furnishings with full kitchens including dishwashers. The bedroom in our 1 bedroom has a king bed, sink, dressers and flat screen tv. The living room has a sleeper couch, recliner, and chair with ottoman. There is a dining table with 4 chairs and a nice large lanai with a table with 4 chairs and a chaise lounge. There is no A/C in the units but the breeze does a great job with windows on both ends of the units and there is a fan too. The complex is located right across the street from a great snorkeling cove and great place to watch the amazing Kauai sunsets and 1 mile to Spouting Horn and National Tropical Botanical Garden. There are great restaurants nearby and the new shopping center with Longs Drugs. Lawaii Beach Resort is made up of 3 buildings (and a small 4th one that seem to be full ownership) Each of the 3 buildings has its own pool and you're welcome to use any. All the units in the Banyon & Ali building have washers & dryers in the units & the Coral Building has a laundry room available for use. Banyon & Alli have better ocean views. Parking is easy and plentiful. There are activities throughout the week and a welcome meeting thatbhighlights some great tours as well. They can get you a discount on them too. There is no maid service during your stay. They give you plenty of towels and supplies and you can prob get more from the front desk. This is the area on the island we love to stay. It's less rainy and wet, best beaches nearby, 20 min drive to Costco & wal-mart and central to many activities. The resort also has a mini golf course on the roof of the Parking garage behind the coral building. They charge a $ 75 fee per unit and $ 5 tax for the week - that includes mini golf, WiFi, dvd rentals and more. They have about 10 nice Weber gas BBQs available at dif locations around the resort that are cleaned each day. read more

If you are a sunset or "sounds of the ocean" lover, this is the place for you! The location of this hotel/resort is fantastic in many respects- right across the street from the rolling waves of the ocean, and close to everything Poipu has to offer, including beautiful sunsets. Every night we were able to walk across the street to see the most amazing sunsets we have seen on any vacation (and we are sunset people). And, every morning, I was able to start my day on the lanai with my coffee listening to the birds (real birds, not roosters) and the ocean; watching the early morning surfers. It was a really great location for this! This resort did not seem to have a rooster problem, which was a nice change of pace compared to other locations on the island we have stayed. The only noise issue here was the exterior hallways leading from each room go just past your open bedroom windows, but.... the hotel does a great job posting reminders for folks to stay quiet when traversing the hallways, and we thought everyone was really respectful of this. And, lastly, I thought I was going to hate the road between the hotel and the ocean, but honestly, the waves muffled out almost all of the road noise and it really wasn't an issue. While staying on the south side of the island, we took advantage of the proximity to Waimea Canyon, Spouting Horn, and Poipu beach park, all of which were awesome. The resort had adequate pools and pretty grounds. It wasn't the Ritz on the inside, but, it sure got the job done and I would definitely stay here again. We stayed there for two weeks. We couldn't sleep. First, there is NO AIR CONDITIONING. That makes it uncomfortable when you get back to the room at night when it's 85 degrees and muggy. Also, between the construction (sanding, hammering outside our room) and the constant maintenance noise (leaf blowers, lawn mowers, and power washers) our stay was hardly tranquil. We had to close our windows instead of being able to listen to the ocean. Roosters crowed all day long on top of that. There was no oversight at any the pool areas. Teenagers jumping off landscape rocks into the pool even though there were signs clearly posted prohibiting this. Little kids running between the lounge chairs to jump in the pool. There were parents there with 3-4 small children left to run around and nothing was done. After the second day, I called security for the safety of the kids and guests. I love this place. Some people complained there is no AC. It's HAWAII - NO NEED. OPEN THE DOORS. we have owned since 1996 when it was new and have never had problems when we visit. The staff is always friendly, making sure you experience the aloha spirit. TheBanyan pool is the best one in my opinion. It's open from 8 am to 10 pm. The others are only open til 9 pm I believe. Parking is plenty. We have a two bedroom two bath unit in the Banyan building which is also my favorite building. Easily over 1000 square feet, so they are spacious, nice, and have gorgeous views of the ocean and Lawai Beach. There is a washer/dryer in the units and they are strong advocates of recycling, which is excellent. After all, it is an island, so take care of the aina "land." Speaking of beach. Lawai beach is great for snorkeling; I prefer it to Poipu Beach because Poipu beach is rockier. And, Lawai beach is across the road. So easy access! The resort is in Koloa, and the area has been built up significantly over the years. Right up the road is the new(er) Kukui'ula shops - touristy shops as well as a Longs Drugs (CVS). I was able to get my prescription refilled with no trouble and only room 15 minutes!! Koloa town has a cute little strip of tourist shops, but the town is adorable and homey. Kauai is also my favorite island besides Oahu, so I always have good things to say. The ONLY drawback is that there are not many radio stations, so bring CDs or have music Ready if you're particular about car music. There is also even a shuttle that can take you around if you need to get somewhere. $0.50 to take you around the area. The pickup is across from Koloa Fire Department, in front of the yellow submarine. FIFTY. CENTS!! Then if you wanna go into Lihue, it is an additional $2.00. I am extremely okay with that. I used it to go to/from Lihue one night and it was easy. Just tell the shuttle driver you wanna go Lihue, and they'll let you know when to get off at Kalaheo. Then, you get Route 100 and it takes you to Ross. Just let the driver know and they'll remind you when it is your stop. Kauai is becoming more populated every time I am there. But I still love the "Garden Isle," because it reminds me of what I envisioned Hawaii to be back in the day. I hope you will visit - and if you stay at Lawai Beach Resort I hope you enjoy it. Stayed for a week. Enjoyed the beachfront location. The two lane road in front does get busy with snorkel tour vans, tourist buses going to Spouting Horn, and the evening crowds that dine at the Beach House restaurant which is directly across the road. The resort is tidy. The grounds crews & the housekeeping staff do an admirable job. The 3 swimming pools are kept very clean. The rooftop tennis courts and 18 hole mini-golf are well maintained. Though on a hot August day, you will quickly cook up there. The enclosed air conditioned exercise room has 6 treadmills. Our one bedroom unit had a king size bed. The mattress is firm. The closet space is plenty for 2 people for a week. There's a flat screen TV up high on the opposite wall. The bedroom is on the backside passageway, tenants coming back late at night with loud voices did wake me several times. The generous size living room had a sofa sleeper and two large chairs. The living room had a 50"flat screen TV, a VCR/DVD player, wi-fi, and a small Sony stereo sound system with i-pod socket. The lobby has a 500 title DVD lending library. Towels and toiletries and good quality and generous. There is a clothes washer and dryer in the unit. Very convenient. The kitchen is workable. We cooked almost every night. The stove is a four burner with oven. The unit had all the kitchen tools, pots & pans that we needed. There's a 25 cubic foot fridge / freezer. The ocean facing lanai is large enough for 4 people to comfortably eat a meal. I'm giving 4 stars because this resort is homey, friendly, low key. Very Hawaiian. My kind'a place. And I plan to return again. I reserve 5 stars ratings to full service resorts that are ostentatious with luxury. Update Aug 2014: return visit. Got a 4th floor room in building #1. What can I say....I had an amazing vacation here. I booked Lawai Beach Resort through my Disney Vacation Club. The resort sits right on the beach. The beach has some of the best snorkeling Kauai has to offer. I even swam with giant sea turtles. The location of this resort is so great. It was easy to get anywhere on the island. There are so many amenities here included miniature golf, pool, concierge, gift shop, game room, fitness room, etc. You can rent snorkel gear across the street or at the hotel. There is a fabulous restaurant across the street also. I watched humpback whales breach right off my room balcony everyday. The front desk here is very warm and welcoming. My only gripe was that the rooms are a little dated but that's it everything else was amazing. read more

we got this place through time share, and staying here was absolutely amazing. very comfy rooms, complete with living room, kitchen, two bedrooms, bathroom and washer/dryer. AND best part of all, there's a balcony with lawn chairs that was great for relaxing and reading. (and doing tai-chi, yes?) our room overlooked the beautiful beach and ocean right outside and the soothing sound of the waves accompanied with the beautiful hawaii breeze made life so comfortable. it's also fun to watch the torcher come by. you know, the dude that lights all the torches when it starts to get dark. the swimming pool is cool too. not too many people there when we went, and it's always fun to have the pool all to yourself. if you don't want chlorine water, just walk down to the small beach area where you can play with the warm ocean water. soooo fun! however, the restaurants nearby are usually expensive or in the poipu shopping area. it's better to buy groceries and cook in the room. we were so sad to leave this place. nice, comfy room with a perfect view. i want to go baaaack! read more

Normally I'm the kind of person who treats a room on a vacation as a spot to sleep and shower up in. not much else since I don't go on vacation to sit on my butt all day and watch TV. Then again, I've never been to Kauai. We got hooked up with the room thanks to a friend's dad. First thing that grabbed my attention was the size of the place, second thing was the size of the bathrooms, third thing was the view we had of the beach, and finally the size of the kitchen which ended up being a big fat bonus during our week on vacation. The view of the sunset was a surprise sunset for us all. There was nothing like being able to sit on the balcony and watch the sun go down with minimal noise from the road or anything else nearby by. That's right, I found another purpose for a room besides to just crash for the night. Another appreciation I had for the place was the walkway design - everything was outdoors. Instead of walking down badly lit halls with that terrible a/c and carpet smell I was instantly outdoors the moment I opened the door. Now the only downside for some (and it wasn't for me) is the lack of A/C in the building which sucks for some but when you have the windows open you end up having a great breeze come thru the room which smells a whole lot better than Freon. read more

First time to Kauai; here for a family wedding. Did lots of research and decided that Lawai Beach Resort was where we wanted to stay, and were fortunate to get timeshare exchanges for 2 rooms here - a 2-bdrm and 1-bdrm in the Banyan Building, right across from the main (beautiful) pool and Jacuzzi and with ocean view (although not quite as good as you would get on the upper 2nd, 3rd or 4th floor. Still, no bad days in paradise - can't really complain. Very quiet, peaceful and relaxing resort. THE UNITS: very spacious, big living room, big master bedroom, Jacuzzi tub in the master, washer/dryers in unit, nice modern kitchen, w/ everything we needed, flat screen TVs, DVD players, free internet. AMENITIES: 3 pools, the nicest of which was right in front of us, w/ rocks and waterfalls, and beautiful landscaping, plus lovely "grotto" Jacuzzi; free games to check out and DVD rentals, free parking, a few daily activities, although a bit pricey ($15 for hula or ukulele lessons; $40 for watercoloring, etc.). Enjoyed the rooftop miniature golf and tennis court (free); they have free bocce ball sets to check out, too. THE BEACH - The best was that it's right across the street from one of the best snorkeling beaches in Kauai - Lawai Beach - depending on the tide, it can be just a sliver of beach, but it's honey-colored sand, gorgeous views, and tons of beautiful colorful fish. We even saw an eel one day and a huge sea turtle the next! Tonight there were probably 50 people on the grass above the beach to take in the lovely sunset, that we can see right from our place. So, location, location, location. SERVICE: Very friendly. Had minor issue that our room was missing a coffee maker, but got that rectified w/in 24 hours. There was also some pretty major construction going on, including installing solar panels on the roof that probably impacted some rooms, but wasn't a major distraction to us. Overall, we met people who have been coming here every year for decades, and can totally see why. Lawai Beach Resort is a very special place! read more

We have been coming here for 10 years now with timeshare ( Kona is our home condo) and have stayed in both the Alii and Banyan building and have stayed from the first floor to the fourth. All have really good views. We stay here because it is situated in front of Lawai Beach with only a two lane road separation. The views are stunning. This is our 2nd stay at this resort. We have stayed at big-name resorts the likes of Westin, Hilton, Marriott but this resort by far is the best equipped and cleanest ever. Everything it does has the occupants in mind. Most if not all rooms has an ocean view & the location is just feet across the ocean. The unit is very spacious . There is also an activity center where an exercise room,miniature golf, pool table , tennis court, game console sit. The pool ares are basic but have adequate seating with enough shading. The staff is helpful & friendly. We did have problem with getting to the concierge who had spent at least an hour with 4 women. When they were about the leave, a friend came in & took up yet more time- I don't under why she had chosen to ignore the two of us who had waited for over 30 minutes in line . read more

This was the biggest delightful surprise of my career in the travel and hospitality industry! We bought a timeshare 30 years ago and had never used it because I travel for a living! As a last minute decision my family of 4 headed to Kauai to relax unwind and for me to see what was happening on the island as I had not been with a group in 3 years. When we arrived it was a warm aloha greeting and a simple check in! We got to our ocean front room with the most incredible view and it was clean and perfect! We loved the room set up and amenities!
