I enjoyed everything about this property. The beach and pool combination is perfect! The restaurants are good! The happy hour is fun! They are not fanatical about the beach towels. It's okay to get two or three if you want them. The kids enjoyed the activities provided by the property. One thing I was surprised by was that the property didn't mention a time share program to me. So they don't hassle you line some other properties in that business do. I would definitely stay here again. read more

I don't even know where to start... We booked three rooms and paid an additional $3k to host what was supposed to be a "private dinner" for 7 people in their restaurant. Immediately, everyone who worked here is so unwelcoming and unaccomadating. From initial check in, the valet/bellman was irritated by how many bags we had, then we were told we had to go back into the check in line and get a pass for his car after we had just checked in. We went to the concierge and he said he couldn't help us, we had to wait in line. So we did, for 20 minutes - once we got to the front, she told us we didn't need a pass to park. Then we got to the "private" dinner which we paid $3k for...showed up and it was just the table with an ocean view with some curtains against the wall. We asked them to close said curtains, they told us that would disrupt the other guests....when we paid for private room....we had to throw a fit and pull up email exchanges to get them to close the curtains. Then during some high-spirited toasts we got a bit loud, SECONDS LATER, our waiter came in and told us to keep it down. WE PAID FOR A PRIVATE ROOM. FOR THIS REASON. We haven't even left the table yet and I am just fuming writing this. We're honestly very easy people. This was a horrific experience. read more

The property is in a beautiful location, and the housekeeping team was excellent--our room was cleaned thoroughly each day. The food was typical "hotel-style" dining, but overall the stay was enjoyable because of the setting and the service. One caution: be mindful of the concierge (an older woman from Ventura). She was extremely persistent about booking a timeshare sales presentation and did not accept "no" as an answer. When I explained that my pregnant wife could not comfortably do a 90-minute presentation, that concern was disregarded. When she realized we were declining the presentation but still wanted to proceed with the helicopter tour, her tone shifted and she attempted to instill fear and doubt by saying the weather conditions would not be safe--despite having booked the flight for the same day as the presentation in the first place. It took four separate attempts before she finally canceled the presentation. The pressure tactics were unprofessional and not an appropriate way to conduct business. Aside from that experience, the other staff members were friendly and helpful. We really appreciated Tiana, she went above and beyond for us. Stays in both a garden view suite and an oceanfront room offered two distinct but equally enjoyable experiences. The garden view suite was spacious and practical, with a convenient kitchenette and close proximity to the pool, making it easy to come and go throughout the day. The oceanfront room felt especially peaceful, with an unobstructed view and the sound of the waves at night creating a calming atmosphere. The property is beautifully maintained with lush landscaping, open walkways, and direct beach access. It feels relaxed rather than crowded, and the ocean side of the resort offers incredible sunset views. Located in Poipu on the south shore, it is a great base for enjoying nearby beaches and dining. The resort is about a half hour drive from the airport, so having a car is important for exploring the rest of Kauai. Except for the staff member who checked us in, everyone was great. Our room, on the beach side was right over the pool area, with an ocean view. It was well stocked with lotion, shampoo, body wash, bottled water (2daily) coffee, tea and 2 bathrobes. The cleaning staff, pool staff and restaurant staff and concierge were all very hospitable and helpful. We had dinner at Rum Fire one night of our stay and both the food and our server were exceptional. The hotel is a short walk to shopping and other dining. We found a nice breakfast spot where we ate most mornings. There's a store/gift shop on the hotel property and a general store/gift shop in the shopping area close by. Poipu is a busy spot and the Sheraton is right in the middle of the action. As a bonus, there is a Luau on the property a three days a week and sea turtles a short distance away. read more

Had a really nice stay at the Sherton Kauai Resort the week of 9/28/25. We were there on a vacation package and arrived at 10AM on a direct flight from California. We were greeted by Sheryl at the front desk and she was welcoming and wonderful. We were able to check into our room to drop our luggage and get started on our first day in Kauai. We had a room just off the pool on the villas side. The pool is smaller than the seaside pool, but I loved it because it wasn't overcrowded, and there were no children. This made for a very peaceful time at the pool where we could relax and not hear children screaming and splashing. While it would have been nice to be seaside, I am grateful we did not have to deal with kids on this side of the resort. While we could enjoy the seaside pool, we chose the use the villa pool just for the peace and quiet. Our room was ground level and small, and my only complaint is there was no microwave to reheat leftovers. Housekeeping was very attentive. We'd leave for coffee at Links and by the time we returned, our room had been attended to. Super comfortable bed, and excellent water pressure in the shower. The grounds on both sides of the resort are well maintained and beautifully landscaped. Everyone was very kind and welcoming. We've been to Kauai at least 10 times, and this was definitely one of our best visits. Links Cafe in the morning is welcoming and wonderful, and Lava's was so good (see my review on Lava's). We had a great time watching the sunset from this location, and it's 10 minutes walking distance to Po'ipu Beach. We did get to see the suites on the villas side, and they are super nice. This was our first time staying on the south shore of Kauai, and we really enjoyed our stay! read more

If you're looking for some rest and relaxation, this is the resort to stay at. It is absolutely gorgeous. Pictures doesn't do justice. We got the Deluxe Oceanfront room. I had done my research & I had called in advance requesting to be in the Ocean Wing. If you DON'T want to see the swimming pool, & WANT to just hear the waves crash & want to watch the sun set, ask to be in the Ocean Wing. We had stayed at the resort in August 2024. The only downside is that the sliding doors do not have a screen, so you cannot leave the sliding door open at night to hear the waves. The resort side that overlooks the ocean are not part of the timeshares. There is no kitchen. There is a little refrigerator to keep your drinks cold, but that's it. No microwave either. When you're checking in, the registration building is across the street & there's a few parking spots in front of it or on the street. Make sure you reserve your cabanas ahead of time because they get booked quickly for the summer. You have the option to be right on the beach, or on the grass/lawn. If you have kids, there's plenty of activities they can take part in & lawn games as well. They have a little coffee shop within property, and a restaurant. No spa services though. The resort has an on site luau. Which, if your room faces the swimming pool, you can probably watch the luau from your balcony. read more

The Sheraton hotel was good! The hotel room itself was big and spacious, specifically the shower, which is definitely the biggest shower I've had in a hotel room. Secondly, the view from the oceanfront rooms is literally gorgeous, and the convenience of being right on the beach is so unique and beautiful! Additionally, Sheraton had many complimentary activities such as lava-bead bracelet making, morning yoga, and surfing. Finally, there were also many games to play such as Fusball, Connect-4, and corn hole. The one action restricting this review from being 5 stars is the lady teaching these activity's, Tammy. Tammy got frustrated in an unpleasant manner when my party had had morning yoga, and arrived 3 minutes late. She told us to find seats, in a passive-aggressive way. Keep in mind, there are 3 of us, therefore making in challenging finding chairs in the same row. Tammy didn't feel the need to assist us in finding these seats, and we ended up sitting on the floor until everyone in front of us had finished bracelet making and had gotten up. But, Tammy was extremely eager to help us finding local restaurants to eat at, which was kind. Overall, I would return to Sheraton. read more

Oh boy. We really wanted to like this hotel, and for what it's worth, we had high hopes when we checked in. Everyone was very nice, and we got a status upgrade to an oceanfront room, which was a win. It was a bit dated with a lot of carpet, but we knew that going into it. The first night we were unpacking and I saw a sign in the room about "sharing our spaces with the creatures of the island" which mentions some specific bugs, and I didn't really see much of an issue with that. Don't keep the door open, don't keep the slider open, we'll be okay. Well, first night, a cockroach appeared on the clothes I was unpacking. I caught it, and upon further inspection around the room, found another one. I called the front desk (like the paper told me to) and they sprayed some natural stuff for us. Moving along. Then, the hotel workers went on strike. I do not blame the Sheraton nor the workers for this, but this significantly impacted the stay. No housekeeping, no restaurants, and a skeleton staff for everything else. We had the option to check out early but decided against it as we had a pretty full itinerary that didn't rely much on things to do at the hotel...but it was difficult to get even some of the most basic things (like towels). Then, the third morning, another cockroach woke us up at 5am. The doors were closed all day, and we even put a towel in front of the entryway door. So, there is a bigger problem here, and that's where I draw the line. We moved to the Sheraton Coconut Beach. I will say that the Sheraton Kauai absolutely had the premium beach, so if that's important to you keep that in mind. However, it is public and we had some non-guests (teenagers) using our pool and being pretty loud about it. If I had to pick, I'm going back to Coconut Beach every time. read more

I want to be careful because I've got a lot of small gripes that feel a bit Entitled Tourist, so I'll start with the headline: this resort is all about the oceanfront view, and Sheraton delivered. Every morning I woke up with that view. I watched as the sun rose and traveled across the ocean from east to west. The sun seemed to set right in the center of our lanai. The sound of the lapping waves centered my mind during the day and eased me to sleep each night. If this is what you're looking for on your trip, the rest of what I'm going to write is no big deal. ROOM: There is a beach building (overlooking the pool and beach) and ocean building (overlooking a rocky shore). We initially requested a third-floor room on the beach side, but got the ocean side, which we ended up liking more anyway, so score. The rooms themselves are "Hawaii nice," meaning that for Hawaii, they were in solid shape. These dated rooms would be three stars anywhere else, but four stars for Hawaii as many resorts are older and do not seem to feel the need to invest in keeping them state of the art when you can simply charge for being in Hawaii (and hey, that five-star view averages out). PROPERTY: Well-maintained, especially the landscaping. Easy to get in and out of the parking. It's not a huge resort, but it feels like the perfect size, only steps from the water anywhere you are. There are games all over the grounds, which were super fun to play, especially stumbling out from cocktails. Fitness Center was underwhelming, like most hotel gyms. ISSUES: We did not realize that the hotel was four floors, and there was a lot of upstairs noise, so we asked to move to a fourth-floor room. After two days, we were moved to a room at the end of the ocean building, and while the view was technically still oceanfront, it was partially facing another building. Being closer to the street, we now picked up even more noise, including the elevator. The next morning, the water went out for the whole day. I asked to be moved again, but the only room immediately available was, wait for it, our prior room! I guess we learned our lesson. The staff were always 100% helpful in trying to make things work for us, though coordination and communication was not on point. We spent a lot of time going back and forth to the desk and packing our bags in the first couple days. TIMESHARE: I was roped into the presentation by the gift offer. While the presentation itself was relatively low pressure, it dragged way beyond the promised 90 minutes, lasting almost three hours. The office was ice cold and all I could think about for the final hour was how cold I was. The bigger loss was wasting so much time and just having the energy slowly drained out of us. After we got out, we went up to the room to lay down and decompress for an hour, and our day plans were basically toast. We pivoted and ended up having a nice afternoon, but aside from the horrible business proposition of timeshares, I will never waste another share of my time like that again (cue next enticing gift offer). If you decide to do it, dress warmly. RESTAURANTS: I reviewed Rumfire and Lava's separately, recommending both as solid overpriced resort restaurants with 4 stars. read more

I had a very good experience with this hotel. It is located in Poipu which was a perfect location for all my vacation activities. The resort sits on two sides of the street. One part had the check-in desk, concierge, and valet service along with the garden view rooms. There was a pool for the units on this side of the resort. The second part of the resort was the beach side. There was a pool with bar service, restaurants, fitness room, and cafe. Most of the activities were on this side of the resort. I had an ocean view room so spent most of my time on the beach side of the resort. Staff were all friendly and helpful. Hotel staff were always available to answer a question. There was a bit of confusion with the valet and loosing my car. It was a minor mix-up with the initial drop off of the car when I checked in but the problem was rectified fast and I was not late for my appointment. Otherwise, the valet attendants were friendly and prompt when pulling my car. There are two restaurants on site. I ate at both. Service was good with friendly servers. Food was tasty and served promptly. I did use the cafe a few times for grab and go options like a salad or wrap when I wanted something lite to eat. They also have snacks and some alcohol options for taking to your room. I liked having the cafe available as it gave me more flexibility with food options. The only thing I really questioned was room housekeeping. When I entered the room, there was a nice display on the bed with shell necklaces used to spell out 'Aloha'. I thought this was a nice way to greet the guest. Housekeeping serviced the room every day. I always had fresh towels, bed was made and trash removed. Not completely sure if vacuuming occurred very day. I noticed dirt marks on the duvet and bed skirt which were not caused from me. Not completely sure sink and toilet area were wiped down every day. The things I noticed were minor but I did notice them. Overall, the experience was good with no major complaints about the servicing of the room. I had a really enjoyable time at this resort. I would recommend it to anyone who plans to travel to Kauai. My recommendation would be to choose an ocean view room it possible. The beach/ocean view was amazing. I never had far to walk to the pool or restaurants plus hearing the ocean was relaxing. read more

I don't claim to have a ton of experience with tropical resorts, but the Sheraton Kauai Resort delivered basically everything I wanted for a week in Kauai with my wife and two kids. We got a luxury oceanfront room, in the ocean wing, and spent 100% of our time on the ocean side of the resort. We were blessed with enough space for the four of us to sleep in one room, and a ground floor lanai with waves crashing loudly within 200 feet. Honestly the view alone would probably have been worth it. But you get more: a pretty good pool for kids, just a few steps from a very good sandy beach (though with waves a little too big for a toddler), a coffee shop that opens at 6 am, a mid range restaurant and bar (Lavas) that I'll review separately, and a fancy restaurant (Rumfire) that I did not go to. There's also lawn games (bean bag, giant sized chess, giant sized connect four), rentals of boogie boards, snorkels, and lots of other beach and pool stuff, a ton of free kid oriented activities (we did lei-making and fishing), and -- possibly my son's favorite thing -- a foosball table. Plus the whole space is open and airy and just lovely to walk around. Every morning as I padded to the cafe at 6 am to get coffee and buy muffins for the kids (thanks, jet lag) I would look across the breezeway at the ocean and realize that I was spending the week in a tropical paradise. I would definitely stay here again and you should too. read more

This is NOT your typical Sheraton hotel!!! We stayed 5 nights and were really impressed. This is really two hotels in one. Ocean rooms are mostly for non timeshare members with a massive complex in back (across the street) situated in a tropical garden for the timeshare owners. We stayed on the garden side in a ground floor hotel style room (7103). It was very quiet and I loved hearing the birds. It was just a short walk to the pool by the ocean and we spent most of our time in lounge chairs by the pool, walking the beach, and soaking in the hot tub. Hotel sits on one of the top beaches of the island and is close to restaurants and shopping. We really enjoyed our stay and can't wait to come back! read more

Our stay here was wonderful. The resort is nice and we would stay here again. The rooms were clean, the bed was comfortable and we had a balcony over looking the pool. Upon check in they spelled, "Aloha" on our bed using sea shell necklaces which we got to keep and a box of chocolate covered macadamia nuts. That was a nice touch. The pool was big enough that it wasn't crazily packed and if it was, the beach is within steps from it. The beach was kept clean and was one of our favorite beaches on the island. You can rent a pair of covered lounge chairs for $75 from 8am-5pm. They also have cabanas for rent for more. There is also a hot tub and plenty of chaises. Be sure to reserve yours early by placing your towel or personal item on it. There were ice machines on floors 2-4 but on one of the days the ice machine on the 3rd floor was broken. We didn't have to buy ice for our coolers as we just filled them up from the machines. read more

First time in Kauai, so don't really have anything to compare to. Our family of 4 had a relaxing vacation at the Sheraton. We stayed in a ground floor oceanfront room, with direct access to the ocean lawn area. Gorgeous beachfront property with unobstructed views of the Pacific Ocean if you choose to stay in the ocean or beach wing of the property. The lobby is located across the street on the garden side of the property. Pools were nice but needed better cleaning. I saw plastic cups/trash in the pool a few times I went. Pool service was efficient, never had to wait long to order food/drinks from the restaurant Lava's. Daily activities included in the resort fee, only went to the lei making class, which was pretty neat to learn about the process. Each lei is handmade with a needle and thread. Dining: Lava's or RumFire (open Thursday-Sunday only). Ate at both restaurants. Lava's is more casual and serves the pool and room service as well. Food was average at best. RumFire was more fancy, one of our favorite meals we enjoyed on our last night. Parking: complimentary self parking, free valet for elite members. The hotel grounds are well kept, but some of the rooms could use some updating. Overall nice hotel, would stay here again we're in Kauai. read more

This place is a gem. I love everything about their property. Their customer service is stellar including Daniel at the concierge. He greeted us with excellence and just warm vibes every time we crossed paths. Our room is amazing and everything is conveniently in walking distance in a split of a second. There was a blackout yestereday for 3 hours and the whole time we felt secure, taken care of and always looked out for. They ensured us with a text that remindedus that we had flashlights in the room if we needed. Before we could even feel a difference we had the lights and power back on. This is a property that I want to be at when I experience any kind of a situation. Our honeymoon has been top notch with all their customer service that they've offered our way. read more

We stayed on the villa (garden) side for 9 days. We were originally only staying for 7 days and go to another island, but we enjoyed Kauai and the property so much, we extended our stay. At first I was worried because we were only able to get a 1 bedroom for me, my husband and 2 teenage sons. But it turned out it had enough space for all of us (but it would've been nice to have a 2nd bathroom). I was also pretty bummed that we were placed in building 3 which was over looking the parking lot. It turns out since we were on the top floor, we had a great view of the beach across the street. Plus, we didn't have to schlep to the parking lot every time we went out. Having an en suite washer/dryer and kitchenette is why I try to book villa style accommodations. It's so convenient! The room we got was also renovated recently and was clean. We didn't have any bug issues, but we also made sure to close our door right away and we rarely used the lanai. The roosters in the garden below do start crowing at 4am, so bring ear plugs if noise is an issue. Walls are also thin, but we didn't have issues until the last 2 mornings when we woke up to our neighbor's shrieking child. As far as location goes, the property is on Kiahuna Beach. The walk from the villa side is 5 minutes and you're on one of the best beaches on the island. It's not as crowded as the neighboring beaches (ahem Poipu). You can rent cabanas, beach chairs and umbrellas from the beach activities center and if you're a Bonvoy Elite member, you get free boogie board rentals. The ocean pool is pretty small and gets crowded, so we never used it. We mainly stayed at the garden pool since it was always empty. They had a lot of free activities during the day. We took advantage of free beachside yoga in the mornings. It would've been nice to have more activities in the evening. There's nothing to do at night, plus the bars only stay open until 9pm. Overall, I would definitely stay here again if we're in Kauai. The staff were all helpful and friendly and the resort is well maintained. Sheraton Kauai Resort has all of the amenities you would expect from a luxury hotel in Hawaii- beautiful modern rooms, free parking, sparkling clean pool and hot tub as well a lovely, decorated lobby and common deck areas where you can rest on padded lounge chairs and gaze at the stunning Pacific Ocean crashing against rocks or to the sandy shore. That's five stars right there. But the thing that makes this hotel special is the people who work for and in the resort. We noticed this right away as we checked in to sincere smiles, as well receiving a gift box of Hawaiian macadamia nut candy! Now that's fun! The valet and the bellman were immediately on hand too and helped us navigate the rather sprawling hotel. (Note that there is free parking at this resort, but on day one we opted for valet.) Five Stars! During our stay we got our first morning food at the associated "Link Cafe" with gorgeous breakfast sandwiches and cute little bananas called "apple bananas", sweet and tiny. The friendly attitude of the hardworking people, hustling to warm up sandwiches and greet the morning diners-Five stars! The housekeeping team was awesome, so meticulous which is important in a beachy sandy location. One day we ran into our housekeeper in the hallway, and she had a beautiful hibiscus flower in her hair! To clean our room! Lovely touch of Hawaii and hospitality-Five Stars! A shout out to the guy who works at the pool handing out towels and manning a small but very well stocked store. Being rather unprepared for the blazing sun we bought 3 high quality Kooringal hats from him that took us through vacation and beyond. He was so competent and friendly in that booth, dealing with many visitors in a most hospitable competent way-Five Stars! I noticed the beautiful grounds of the Sheraton Kauai resort and when leaving the last day, early in the morning I saw the hard-working gardeners tending to everything. The grounds of the hotel: beautiful! The hotel staff: super nice! This hotel is a true beauty top to bottom. With all of the praise, you're probably wondering why I am not giving this amazing resort 5 stars. Well...first of all, this hotel has 2 sections across the street from each other. The side where you drive up and check in is not the same side as the resort. The side you check in is the villas. They're actually regular rooms, but across the street from the resort. No one tells you this though. You drive up, the valet tells you where to check in. Once inside at check in, the ladies are very nice, but not helpful. For first timers at this resort, tell us which side we are on, and which building as there are a few. Also, the room numbering system is confusing and weird too. Our room 2414 was actually on the 4th floor. Like I said confusing. Our room was located in building 2, 4th floor, room 14. Again, like I said, our room was gorgeous, but it took us 20 minutes to find it. Also, the parking is confusing too. We had complimentary valet because of my Bonvoy status, but where the heck was self parking?! They told us, but we couldn't find it. That's how confusing the room and parking situation is. Although the staff at these two areas are great, it would have been helpful to know how to get to our room and where to park. Overall, we had a great stay at the Sheraton Kauai Resort, and will 100% be back. read more

I had a great stay here while TDY! Yeah there are wild chickens and roosters everywhere that guests complain about but isn't that what earplugs are for? You can't beat the staple amenities and the closeness to the ocean. I didn't stay waterfront.my room was a short hold and skip from the waterfront area where you check in and it was fine! Laundry rooms worked well as I was here for a week, and the room had everything I needed. The staff were friendly and the on site bar and restaurant were yes pricey but very good with friendly staff! Location: 5 stars- Lovely beachfront location on the "sunny side" of the island with a nice beach for swimming and animal watching (monk seals and turtles frequent this beach and nearby). There is a walkway that connects many resorts if you are a Walker/runner. Great views for sunset, and walk to neighboring beach for sunrise. Snorkeling at nearby poipu beach park, but I found it just ok (if you've snorkeled on big island or Maui you will be disappointed by comparison). Close to restaurants on koloa and poipu. Room- 4 stars: stayed in an ocean view room and it was clean but the balcony/lanai was absolutely plagued with bugs and we could hardly open the door (no screen) or hang outside. The bathroom had a shower/tub combo but the bathroom was very spacious. Great location for watching sunsets from the room. Service: 5 stars: daily cleaning and turndown service. When we asked for extra towels, etc it came quickly. Concierge, bellman were very friendly. Our check in hostess was ok. Pool: 3 stars: the beach side pool is on the colder side and one small jacuzzi. There is also an "inland" pool that doesn't seem used at all. The worst part is the limited hours 8-8pm. Resort amenities: 4 stars: small gym, daily yoga, some classes that are geared for kids and families (hula, leis, ukele lessons), a giant chess set and connect 4 near the beach, fire pits, corn hole. The room has some higher end shampoo, etc that is not individual size but bottles that are attached to the wall. You get a small set of aloe and sunscreen when you get on property. As a guest you can also rent 2 boogie boards per day for free. Food options: 3 stars- there is a cafe, a fancy restaurant (rumfire, but closed on Mondays), and a more casual spot Lava's that serves breakfast (it was just ok) There is a luau on property a few days a week, didn't go, but you can attempt to rubberneck listen Parking: paid parking in an open lot, not too bad of a walk but depends on where your room is. They also have valet. Note there is also a time share portion of the resort so there is a "mixed" guest crew. This being said when we were there the week of Valentine's Day, it wasn't overly crowded. Sheraton Kauai Resort is located in Poipu, along a beautiful pristine section of the beach. Tan colored sand, extends up from the ocean in one section providing a wonderful area to swim and snorkel. The rightmost section of the beach at the resort has picturesque lava rock on the shore and into the clean blue surf. This area is excellent for capturing sunsets with colorful skies The resort has a beautiful well decorated large lobby. There are two pools available; one is located near the bar and is very popular because of the view and bar service. For a quiet swim, the pool located near the lobby is the place to go. The staff at the hotel are all very professional and friendly. The front desk gave us complimentary chocolate macadamia nuts, and wished us a happy anniversary. Our Oceanfront room was amazing. The view from our room was like an ocean painting. The balcony seats provided a nice secluded place to relax and wind down in the evenings. The room was very clean and spacious. The maid was very nice and she knew our name immediately. Just excellent service! We couldn't be happier with our stay. I would love to stay here again on our next visit. read more

My ladyfriend and I celebrated our 4 year anniversary with a vacation to Kauai and we stayed at the Sheraton Kauai Resort in beautiful Poipu.We had the oceanfront view rooms,and the view of the beach and ocean is absolutely incredible.The bed is comfortable and the bathroom is spacious with two sinks and a large tub shower.There is a mini fridge for drinks and food,and you receive 2 free water bottles per day.Centrally located to most activities,and great restaurants and shopping plazas.We ate breakfast daily at their beachfront restaurant Lava's which had great food overlooking the beach.Rent a car,as Uber is very unreliable,and if you wish to enjoy a cocktail with your dinner,The Aloha Spirit shuttle is the way to go.We did the Island Helicopter tour and mountain tubing,and Smiths Family Luau. All incredible. We had a wonderful and comfortable stay,and would stay again when we return one day! read more

Very nice and relaxing resort. Very similar to the Sheraton Maui in terms of beach quality and the rooms are located close to the ocean with excellent views. It's smaller than the Maui resort but that's actually a plus if you're interested in enjoying the beauty of Kauai without a lot of noise. We checked out the Grand Hyatt during our visit and were very pleased we chose the Sheraton. The Grand Hyatt is way too crowded and placed relatively far from the ocean and the beach is not swimmable. The Rum Fire restaurant at the Sheraton is excellent but it can be a bit pricey (well worth the money IMO). The Lava restaurant has limited food and drink options but their beach service is very good. The staff is very friendly and helpful. Our concierge, Tiana, was the best and provided excellent suggestions for excursions and dinner reservations. I highly recommend this resort. read more

We stayed on the timeshare side and sat through the presentation. We would have given it 3 due to the presentation but the property itself and the staff deserve a 4. Mallerie the Concierge was fantastic. She was very responsive and help us plan a few things. The presentation for the timeshare was fine but a few of the individuals were very rude once they realized we were not interested. We made it very clear that we were good to sit through the 90 mins but wished for them to respect that time and not keep us longer. We got there early so they started about 10mins early. 10 mins after the 90mins was supposed to be up, so we were now about 110mins in they brought out a third person. She asked us how it was and when we mentioned that we were over time and felt that it's respectful to stick with what was promised she very rudely said, "you can go." It felt very uncomfortable. I will say the 2nd person they brought out, Cliff, was nice/friendly. He didn't make us feel like we were worthless because we didn't want to do it. Back to the hotel itself... it was a great spot and we loved seeing the turtles! We didn't stay much though as we got out and did a lot of things! read more

I had a lovely stay at Sheraton Kauai Resort and would definitely stay here again. Pros: Location. I thought Poipou Beach was amazing, clear warm blue water great for swimming with direct hotel access. This really does seem to be the best beach on the island in my opinion. Our room was also literally steps from the water so this hotel is truly oceanfront with direct beach access. There are lots of cute lounge chairs and rocking chairs by the water to drink your morning coffee or watch the sunset. Room. We stayed in a deluxe oceanfront room, and it was just lovely. Amazing, beautiful view. Wonderful and comfortable beds, nice spacious bathroom. Balcony literally overlooking the ocean. I was in love with our room and definitely worth the splurge. Side note: no screen on balcony, and critters definitely were trying to get in, so we could not leave the door open as much as we would have liked. Wasn't a huge deal though. Could still hear the waves crashing with the door closed! If you're going to stay here, do it right and get one of these rooms. I can see being disappointed otherwise. Ease/comfort. Free daily self parking. Very welcoming staff. Activities desk for pool and beach rentals, which made it super easy to rent equipment for surfing amongst other things. Cute little cafe open early with gift shop that was very practical. Close to airport, ~20 minutes. Few small, cute little towns with shopping centers nearby. Cons: Pretty basic hotel overall. It was nice, but nothing fancy. Lobby is quite nice with plants and waterfalls, but the pool was pretty lackluster. Needs a definite upgrade. Pool is oceanfront which is amazing, but that is about it. We didn't really utilize the pool because of this and spent most of our time at the beach. There is a second pool on the garden side of the hotel that is even more basic and for that reason, very empty. It wouldn't take much to spruce up the pools and make them more "resort like" rather than pools you'd see at a standard apartment complex. The hotel itself is also pretty basic, and looks like it hasn't been upgraded in quite some time. It is well maintained, though! Only one hotel restaraunt. Technically there are two but I never saw Rum Fire open. The other (open) restaraunt, Lava Flow, was decent. Reasonable prices and good service. Right on the water and very convenient. Overall, lovely stay. I do think it is a tad overpriced for what you're getting, but that is just Hawaii. I loved my room, and had a great time. Would stay here again. read more

If I were to sum up this resort succinctly: it could be so much more. The location is absolutely ideal on my opinion as you can easily access the west and east sides of the island and try to limit your time getting stick on traffic or construction in Kapa'a. If you are a Bonvoy Platinum or higher member, don't expect many benefits. The room: We were upgraded to a Deluxe Oceanfront Queen room on the Ocean Wing with our Suite Night Awards (SNA) and for whatever reason they bypassed our King preference despite rooms being available. Prior to check-in I chatted with a rep and got switched to a King. While the room was great, I'm not sure why they skipped our preference and acted like this was a favor. The bed was comfortable, the view was fantastic and the room was very quiet. The towels were... Not good. The property: Two days before we checked in we were notified that the ocean pool would be closed for our last two days for "emergency" construction. I mean, we are ocean swimmers, but the pool is one of the main reasons to go to a resort. There are no complimentary chair options for Elite guests - it cost $10/beach chair and $18/umbrella PER DAY to use their 3rd party rental company. Small and large cabanas range from $75 to $150. Sure you can sit in pool chairs for free, with little to no view, crammed next to 2 dozen other people. You have to occasionally wear a bracelet, and sometimes you don't. You have to count out each towel and sign them in and out. Really an unwelcoming experience. But the ocean is great. The food: Lava's was really the only option and the only tangible benefit for Elite members was free breakfast. Service ranged from non-existent to great, but we didn't care for any of our meals and the options are limited. We only had lunch here one day and learned our lesson pretty quickly. The cafe was inexplicably closed for lunch, the only time of day we ever wanted to stop in. And Rum Fire remains closed all together. Resort fee: $30 per day. So you're basically paying for your self parking, mediocre WiFi and horrible activities. My wife went to make a lei one morning and all it was was Ti leaves... No flowers whatsoever. I thought it was a joke when she returned. Overall: You'll get your free box of chocolate macadamia nuts, and while this resort has potential, I would never pay a full rate to come here. read more
