Say hi to G and have lunch there on their front porch! === We had seen Warehouse 3540 in Lawai on our trips to West Kauai, and after stopping there (also a really great stop but that's another review) walked back to Lawai Market. Super glad we did! Lawai Market has tons of house-made baked goods, a kicking deli section, incredible bread, smoothies, local goods (mostly food kinds), interesting alcohol/spirits, just tons of fun stuff. Counter folks were super friendly, G was especially friendly and helpful, offering recommendations, helping us out, talking story with us, and making us feel at home. Specific thoughts: ++ House-made s'mores bar. Huge portion. Five of us shared one. Topped with toasted marshmallow, then fudge-y brownie, then this incredible crust which seemed like graham cracker shortbread - never had a crust like that. Almost impossible to cut through because it's so wonderfully thick. It literally stays on the knife you use to saw through it. But oh so good. Each bite lasts a long time as you make your way through the layers. + They had more than a dozen other pastries, again, all house-made fresh every day. G says the tres leches cake (beautiful and floating in the cream mixture) and the brownie parfaits are crowd favs. ++ Curried chicken salad. Supreme comfort food but with strong flavors of curry (they don't mess around), raisins, and all sorts of other textures. FILLING - our group of five couldn't eat more than half of the small container and we loved it. ++ Egg salad. Punchier than most egg salads with lots of strong dill. Tended to like the chicken salad more but dug into this when I needed a break from the curry. + Spicy poke. Good and fresh. Personally like the spicy poke from The Musubi Truck better, but this was still solid. Always love the creaminess if the aioli. + Purple power smoothie. You can tell there's something healthy in there - not like your normal straight up sweet smoothie. (I think it's kale.) But this really grew on me. ++ Focaccia. Oh man. Salt crystals on top, great texture to the bread. Our group are bread connoisseurs and they loved this. We went back for a second loaf because we devoured the first one. ++ They have small sizes of everything in their deli which makes getting a selection of a bunch of things for your group easy. We literally sat out there and walked back into the store three or four times to browse and get more items. And walked out with more and more each time. Sitting on their front porch is great too. Yes, the main road goes right by there but lush trees and Kauai greenery abounds on the other side of the road which makes the whole space awesome to hang in. I love to visit local grocery hubs and markets, and Lawai was one of them on our trip to Kaua'i. We stopped in to browse the grocery selection, and were impressed with the amount of offerings Lawai Market had. We wish we had stopped in sooner than the last day of our trip so we could have stocked up on some daily essentials/new goodies to try! The market is very clean, offering both local and mainstream items. While we did not purchase any market items this time around, we did opt for an acai bowl at their order counter. At their order counter, they had an array of selections including breakfast items such as burrito, sammy, and rice bowls, as well as lunch featuring sandwiches, quinoa bowls, and falafel wrap to name a few. As mentioned earlier, they also have acai bowls and smoothies. Their acai is of the soft service variety, which left the acai nice and firm throughout. We added strawberries and pineapple, but they also offer toppings like haupia, yogurt, cacao nibs, and coconut flakes. Lawai Market is a lovely little local hub that I would 1000% recommend visiting! There is outdoor seating at the front of the market, making it a perfect breakfast or lunch spot! read more

I really liked that I could get a small cup (8 oz) of açaí soft serve! I wasn't that hungry so it was the perfect size for the moment. I was able to add 2 toppings (75 cents each) - granola and peanut butter. The peanut butter scoop was pretty large, which I really appreciated! I'd come back again, but 1 star off because I am kinda picky with my açaí and the pineapple juice that the açaí is blended with overpowers the açaí taste and in turn makes the base a tad too sweet for me. But, I'm sure it's totally fine for others! The texture was great - thick and sorbet-like. There's a small outdoor deck seating area in the front! read more

Cute little spot - we got a quinoa salad and celery sticks from the fridge to go. For breakfast, we got a couple of bakery items and a breakfast bagel special. Bagel special is huge and freaking amazing. So filling. 5/5 Bull's eye/macadamia brioche with coconut: 3/5 the body of the dough is kinda dry and flavor was so so. Peanut butter ball with coconut 5/5. If you like peanut butter you'll be very happy. I'm gonna make it myself when I get home. Nitro cold brew: 4/5 decent but not that memorable Service is amazing. Coffee is great here. My favorite on the Southside. And I would have given 5 stars if it wasn't for the burrito experience. Ordered the breakfast burrito which is eggs, bacon, beans, cheese and potato and I asked for no cheese. Took the burrito to go and when I sat down to eat it I got a burrito with just egg and bacon. No potato, no beans. Pretty tasteless and not what I paid for. On top of that it took 25 minutes to make and the store was not crowded. read more

This is a nice little store in Lawai on your way to Waimea or the Kauai Coffee Company. We stopped here to grab some breakfast burritos and spam musubi's for our hike in Waimea Canyon. The bacon & egg burritos was good with crunchy bits of bacon and the salsa was great. It doesn't have too much heat and with a smokey flavor on top of it. The store also has fresh breads available. Definitely a great stop for sure. read more

I'm not sure if it's new workers or if they're just being lazy but this is the 2nd time in 3 weeks that I've gotten a 16oz acai bowl and it's not even 16oz WITH toppings. I love their acai bowls and it's never been a problem until recently. Disappointing. Train your new workers or use a scale to make sure customers are getting what they paid for. read more

What a hidden gem! This little market was a very pleasant surprise. First time to Kauai and this was our first stop of the first day. We picked it based on our fellow Yelper's reviews. She put a stink on my formerly warm impression of the store and service that will last a long time and without any more of my money. Waiting politely in line with my female companion to order breakfast and coffee drinks it appeared only one of their two registers was being managed. We looked at the menus overhead on HDTV monitors and decided what we wanted. and when we looked back down there was a young woman standing behind the second register hands at her side staring straight at us... well, me actually. She had a sleepy-zombie expression bordering on being pissed off that she had to be at work. I smiled at her, but that broke no ice. She just stared at me as if resolute not to give in to the kind customer who smiled... she was busy being perturbed. A couple of beats later it occurred to me that maybe she was there to operate the other cash register and take our order. I made some kind of hand gesture probing to find out if she was ready to take our order as I stepped up closer to that register from behind the other where the line had formed. "Can you take our order?" Not blinking. "Yeah. You're supposed to come forward," she reprimanded. "Oh, well, I wasn't invited to so I stayed in line." She managed to tweak her expression just a bit uglier. I ordered the breakfast sandwich my companion wanted and began to order her "hot latte with almond mil--" She suddenly turned and walked away. She came back with a foil-wrapped sandwich and back-handed it onto the counter like a frisbee toss kind of toward/at us. Still no blinking. Staring like we were ruining her morning. ((She reminded me of the coffee girl on an episode of Laudermilk that is the classic demonstration of what is called "vocal fry. My wife and I just enjoyed an exceptionally delicious take-out "Sunday Dinner" from the Lawai Market. The meal truly rivaled the taste and quality of the premier restaurants we are fortunate to have on the south shore. Each of the elements/courses (kale Caesar salad, ono ceviche, potato salad, tomato and watermelon gazpacho, raspberry and lemon clafoutis) was a culinary delight. In addition, for $35 per meal, it was a spectacular value. Now that we know how good they are, we will be back for more. Bravo! read more

Lawai Latte -- lavender latte with macadamia nut whip cream -- pretty good, has a pretty strong floral taste from the lavender but it balances out well with the espresso & whip cream. Ube Donuts -- pretty good, the dough part of the donut was chewy and the icing wasn't too overwhelming. Service -- absolutely horrible. This is why this place deserves a 1/5 stars. Morgan served us on a Sunday morning and had the worst attitude on the island. She needs to learn customer service and the aloha spirit. Lived on this beautiful island for a few years and haven't come across someone as rude and unwelcoming as her. Definitely wouldn't recommend this place with service like that. Skip this place and go to Kind Koffee Company right down the street for better service and better coffee. read more

I probably go to this place 4-7x a week. Lol. New bakery items daily to try, best fish tacos on island. Amazing Kalua pork pizza on Fridays! I love the chorizo burrito in the morning and recently tried the vegetarian one and that was just as good!! Donuts on Sunday are awesome. The only thing I wish they had it a way to tip the staff on the credit card machines. The staff is top notch, friendly, hard workers and I look forward to when I can tip them on the machine because they deserve more and most people don't carry cash around these days for the tip jar. The place keeps making upgrades and getting better and better all the time, I hope that is the next thing to get upgraded. read more

What a nest find! Cute little market sells a wide variety on local and interesting foods, including a locally made sourdough loaf that is divine. They also have a fun little restaurant counter where they offer excellent açaí bowls, smoothies, breakfast sandwiches and coffee drinks. The coffee shop inside the market (has a name plaque of Kauai roastery) makes the best coffee (Tried the Lawai latte) so far that I have tried on the island. Their fried rice bowl with Portuguese sausage is pretty good as well. A 1 min walk down the road will take you to warehouse 3540, which house the Kind koffee and a bunch of souvenirs shops that you should check out as well. read more

Small selection of market items but probably enough for what you need in a bind (since you are far away from any grocery stores). Grandma wanted their coconut macaroons, she said they were the best. I liked them but maybe they were a little overdone? Chewy and tasty, only minus one-star because we both agreed they were too crisp (tasted burned, no bakery should put something like that out). We ate the centers (less cooked) and were perfect. Gma said they were too big (haha) and prefers smaller ones now. Will update to 5-stars when I get one cooked perfectly! We stopped here on our way to Kōloa and the acai bowls are a must try!!!!!!!!!!! I was not expecting it to be as good as it was. It's an acai soft serve base and you can choose between sliced almond or granola, 2 free toppings, and honey on top. Extra toppings are $0.75 extra per topping. I recommend getting the haupia, house made peanut butter, and honey drizzle on top!!!!!!! The honey is so good for no reason. They don't sell the honey on their shelves or else I would've bought it. Cute coffee shop inside a market that carries a variety of products. I saw a bunch of local honey, nuts, and bread available. A bit pricey, but if you want an easy way to find some souvenirs, this is it. I loved the lavender latte with Mac nut whipped cream (Lawai latte) so much that I came back twice. Also open relatively early, a good stop if going toward the west side of the island for the day. I find the service pretty good both times, and I like the coffee better than Kind Koffee's. read more
