This place is fine in terms of work, but a total cluster in terms of operations. Specifically, they told me my kid's car was inoperable and a problem they couldn't fix. I asked if I needed to get it towed away while we figured out what to do with it. Twice I was told not to worry about it, that they had cars in the lot that had been there much larger than mine. I believed them. Today I got a call from a local tow company that they had my car and it'd be $600 to get it back. I called and spoke to Jordan to ask what happened and he just shrugged. No phone call, no email, no notice. Just making stuff up as they go. I totally understand wanting the car off the lot, but I don't understand misleading me then not informing me then not honoring their word. This is a totally senseless expense. read more

If there was a "0" rating I would put it down! Been to this repair shop many times in the prior years and had great service. But it has been at least a couple of years since needing them. I scheduled an appointment for 12noon on 02/26 just to check a small leak coming from the read axle. Arrive 10 min early for paperwork. Sat in lobby watching 4-6 techs walk around 2 others seated in a corner of the shop visible from the lobby. None had tools in hand, 2 had hands in pockets, none seemed to be working on a vehicle. This went on for a 1/2 hour without anyone showing interest in getting my truck on a lift despite being there for now 40 minutes. There were open lifts. About 35 minutes past my appointment, 3 employees from the shop left and walked past my parked truck seemingly headed for a local food store. The sinking feeling after 40-45 minutes of absolutely "0" interest in me or my vehicle, I took my keys and left. Do not go to this place. They do not care about you even with an appointment! I took the auto in for a rear brake job. That ended up almost $100 more than they quoted me. Partially because of a "facility" fee. Apparently, they can't afford the rent and now have to tack on undisclosed fees for every customer to help them pay the rent. This fee equals 10% of the labor charge and is disclosed in relatively small print at the bottom of their main sign. Firestone = you can always find new ways to gouge the customer. They gave me a LONG list of recommendations. *Tires - they said they were 10,000 miles past warranty. I found this hard to believe since my paperwork says they have another 10,000 miles to go. Also, when I had it in just 30 days ago for a road-hazard repair, they told me then I had 10,000 miles to go. Anyway, they tried to talk me into 1,000 of new tires when I have plenty of tread left. *They said my belts were going out. Cracked they said. I got home and examined them. They are fine. Trust me, I'm a commercial driver and know how to inspect belts. *They said air filters were bad. Checked - they are fine. They said my oil was low. So I drove to Walmart and bought a 5 gallon container. Imagine my disappointment when I go to add oil and find the level is 3/4 of the way up to the full line, way above the low line. Apparently, they are grasping at straws to get my money, especially considering I just paid them for an oil change 45 days ago. *I will give them this one. They said I should replace my brake fluid - the ridiculous recommendation that auto manufacturers are tacking on to all their vehicles. They must get a kick-back from the brake fluid companies. As anyone who knows vehicles understand, when the fluid gets murky, or you have mushy brakes, or brake fade - then sure, replace the brake fluid. I have a pickup that has gone 25 years without a brake fluid replacement. It still brakes fine. But I really can't blame Firestone for that recommendation. Watch out for these guys. They will recommend countless unneeded repairs. Make sure you know how to judge for yourself, or go somewhere else! read more

Been going to Firestone for 35+ years, mostly a good experience.This particular location has its issues operationally and communication wise. I dropped a car off, told exactly what was the issue was related to a loose radiator hose. Had them check it out and verify that was the problem. Also said not sure how much fluid was lost... so check that!! Also gave them 3 days. 2nd day call back said they tested it, no immediate action needed. Kid Picks it up, 3rd day, happened to open the hood, and radiator refill was dry! Not sure why if testing pressure, they don't check fluid! Kid went back in and asked, they said it was not part of the test! Holy crap, if it needs fluid, recommend and add it. Shouldn't be testing it low. Had to call several times, finally Jordan the manager answered. Said he would look into it, call back in a few days. Nothing. Bummed as I have a long relationship, and many cars on Firestone tires. read more

If I could give them less stars, I would. As soon as you walk in, they ignore you. Then after multiple minutes of standing there staring, wondering if you'll be helped the mouth breather at the front finally asked if she could help. When you ask how long an oil change will take and there are 4 to 6 mechanics standing in a few open bays joking she told me "like an hour and half or so"! I can't express in words how much I adore these guys! I'm usually someone who steers clear of chains when it comes to car maintenance, but Steve and the rest of the gang are always very honest with me and always happy to help me when they can! I trust them entirely with my car, which is saying a lot since that's very rare. I'm pretty OCD about my car (I'm a full time gig worker so that car keeps the lights on for me) and constantly worrying about things going wrong, and they are always happy to give me peace of mind when I need it. While looking for coupons to save money for oil change services saw that it was advertised for $29.99 and called to see the best way to set the service up, appointment or walk in. Was told new cars are NOT eligible, which is not addressed in the fine print of the coupon online. This shop will not honor coupons as advertised online. Don't set up an appointment and expect them to honor your coupons because they will bait and switch you for much more than what their sponsored coupons advertise with no reasoning from the fine print as advertised. If your tire has Fix-a-Flat in it they will tell you that the tire is ruined and that you need to buy a new tire. That is absolutely false. The salesman told me "it even says it on the can." It doesn't. Attached is a screenshot from the Fix-a-Flat website stating that it will not harm your tire. I pointed this out to the salesman and his response was "I still won't do it." I then drove to Discount Tire and explained what happened at Firestone. He laughed and said "You don't need to buy a new tire." Discount Tire fixed the slow leak that I had cleaned out the Fix-a-Flat residue. Good as new. I'm still giving Firestone two stars because they might be okay for an oil change in a pinch but do not let them talk you into buying things that you don't need. read more

We went to see family in Lawrence Kansas and we live in Dallas,Texas. We arrived in Lawrence and our AC went out while we were there. We called Firestone for an appointment to get it fixed. The Manager Jordan came out and told us that it was the condenser and had to be replaced. Total bill 936.00. We picked it up and by the time we get back to the hotel the AC stopped working. So we put off leaving another day to get it fixed again. We picked it up and was assured it was fixed. One hour into the trip the AC stopped working. It was 104 in Kansas and we had 2 pugs traveling with us also. It took us 12 hours for a 8 hour trip because we had to stop to cool our Pugs off. We get back and called the Firestone near us on Cooper street. After getting it looked at they said that it was the manifold leaking Freon. We were under the impression that the warranty covered it. But it didn't and we had to pay an additional 445.00. We will not go anywhere near a Firestone or recommend it to anyone. read more

Came in for a tire installation for tires I purchased online. No problem there but I had a busted power window switch in a driving rain storm. They couldn't do the work that day but quoted me $350 to fix it. Glad they couldn't fix it then. I went home and after 15 minutes online I researched the part/problem. $155 for the part on eBay and 30 seconds on uninstalling and reinstalling the switch problem solved. Saved myself $200. They make note of the tread, check the fluids, note any damage, a full report on it's condition, etc. However, the mistake with doing business with Firestone is if you have a late model car they won't tell you what parts might fail next and will allow you to put money into a car that is a lemon. The service manager will only talk to you about things wrong with your car you are concerned about. If you have a car that needs a lot of work having any Firestone do the work is unaffordable. Scheduled an appointment for an oil change online for Tuesday at 12. Put in all my cars information (year/make/model) and the type of oil that has gone into my car since I bought it 4 years ago. Steve called me Tuesday morning and said there were no appointments available until Saturday, so I reschedule for 11am Saturday. Steve then calls me at 10:30 on Saturday and mansplains to me that the oil that goes into my car is not the correct oil and he will be putting in different oil. I told him I was not comfortable with him changing the type of oil and he told me not to come to the appointment. read more

It took 2 hours to get my oil changed. I watched an older man who works there treat a young man in front of me very well. I'm an older woman and as soon as I stepped up, he was terribly rude. When I asked a simple question, I got barked at not only by him but the other guy behind the counter. Oh yeah, they were real friendly on the phone but as soon as I got there the whole situation changed. I absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone, especially older women. Where to begin. My wife has gone here for a few years for issues with her car. Recently, we bought a new vehicle and elected to keep our older one to give to our teenage soon. Before giving the vehicle to him, we decided to have a mechanic look at the vehicle and make sure it was ok. On his discovery, he tells me that the brake lines are having issues and brake pads need replacement. While waiting a few days before taking it back to get checked we wake up to a flat tire. The tires were purchased at Firestone 12 months prior. After re-inflating the tire, I took the car into see if the tire could be repaired and/or see if the tires were still under warranty. As we had purchased additional warranty. Now begins my disappointment. After having the vehicle all day, I was told that the tire was "unrepairable" and not covered by warranty. The manager, Steve, was kind enough to stay about 10 minutes after 7 (the closing time) and give me a full report with items that needed repair. All totaling well over $2000. He said that the vehicle required new brake calipers, pads and hoses. The calipers and hoses would be covered under waranty as Firestone had previously worked on the brakes. After a nice enough conversation, I noticed that they had never inflated the tire in question. Again, gave them the benefit of the doubt that tire qas no longer a "slow leak." I was able to drive the car to a gas station across the street and inflate the tire. At that point, I drove the car to another shop and left it their. Next morning, I went by the shop. To my surprise the tire was not fully deflated, only a bit. Clearly not a large "unrepairable" leak. To my suprise, that afternoon the new mechanic said he had repaired the tire and that the calipers were not an issue at all. The pads did need replacing and the lines as well. He also said that we would need new tires amd while the car is not driven much, the "last set of tires were not aligned at all." I contactes Firestone 2 weeks later. (Went on vacation for a week) Told the manager, Steve, that I would like for them to do the warrantied work only. He set a time for that Wednesdayat 10am. I asked how long it would that day. He said "an hour to an hour and half." Wednesday comes, I drop the car off early. 4 and a half hours after the original time now 2:30 in afternoon, Steve calls me to ask "why are we doing the calipers?" I replied "because you said they needed replacement." He responded that he would call me back. Just after 5, Steve said that the calipers did not need replacing, and that they could not replace the pads under the warranty unless I had them turn new rotors. I replied that it seemed that they were to blame for the break problems and that the pads and rotors should be covered under waranty and I should not have to pay. I explained that I would leave the car and speak with him in the morning. Next morning, no surprise, Steve was off. He could have mentioned that instead of asking me to come back the next day. I elected to take the vehicle to a different mechanic. Moral of the story. This outfit doesn't stand behind their work, doesn't honor waranties and is looking to take you for as much as they possibly can. Also, the new mechanic recommended to me, not only said I didn't need half the work done that Firestone said I needed done, he completed the work faster, with better communication and at a better price. Be warned and do not do business with Firestone. I only wish I could give negative stars. read more

Booked an appointment online with 4 tires for our daughter's car - glad I took it in - had 3 services added that I didn't request in my online quote. Almost $200 in extras. Then their constant up sell. I usually do Tire Rack with a local installer - usually a Goodyear dealer and never get this bs. I brought my vehicle in because the brake light was on. I paid over $300 for them to fix it. The next day, brake light is on again. I'm livid, and call back. Steve explains that it must have been something else that was wrong. I ended up paying close to $700 in total.... they also didn't get done in time, they push costumers aside to assist the local rental company. read more

So I came here to get a tire rotation back in December and long story short the experience was not great as it ended up taking two and a half hours (which I expected a wait with it being right before the holidays... But this was a bit much). But! Marci gave everyone who was waiting patiently a free oil change and really attempted to right the wrong. When I called in today Steve was so nice about getting me in for an oil change when I got off work two hours later. After about an hour and a half they said they were almost finished but noticed a larger oil leak. I approved them putting dye in so that we could source the leak in 100 miles and thirty minutes later (going on two hours) I come to find out they're out of de-greaser and have to run down the street to get some. Unfortunately, my free oil change will have to be the one and only time I use Firestone. read more

Like all Firestone locations the bottom line is that you don't feel like these guys are going to take advantage of you. Had booked for a conventional oil motor change in my 4cyl Kia because of the $25 promo but when I got there they said my car only will take full synthetic. I usually take my car directly to Kia in town but because of the price I thought I'd give them a try. Needless to say they said my car doesn't take just conventional oil, which it does and has had conventional put in at Kia since I've owned it. They said it'd cost me $70 plus tax. Disregard any "deals" that Firestone offers because they'll try very hard to upsale you and hope that you're dumb enough to go along with it. Absolutely avoid. read more

I went in last week because my water pump was leaking coolant and making my serpentine belt slip. Since that belt controls so many things (overheating, electronics, power steering, etc), and I was leaving town the next day, it was pretty urgent. Our family mechanic said that the symptoms I described sounded exactly like a serpentine belt. When I took it in they told me that I did need a new serpentine belt and water pump, however they also said something about needing to replace my upper and lower radiator hoses for $300 extra on a 2001 Buick century. Wary of auto mechanics' stigma for overselling, I asked specifically if they had holes in them. She was caught off guard but said yes, probably not knowing either way. Being a poor college kid, I ended up opting for just the water pump and belt at half the quoted cost and she said that they would test everything after the repair just to make sure it was all working properly. Everything was fine. $300 saved and a further resentment for overselling, but this was a negligible part of the reason for a bad rating. This was just the beginning. I drove back down to school in Arkansas the next morning. Before I left, I heard a faint constant ticking noise (about 3 per sec.), but left anyway because I was on a tight schedule. When I got to Arkansas that evening the ticking was more pronounced. I knew that it wasn't a coincidence that this started right after I had it worked on. I sent a video to our family mechanic and he said the water pump pulley was wobbling and asked how many bolts were in it. I checked and sure enough, there were 4 holes for bolts, but only 2 were in, and 1 of those was very loose. I was very upset. My original theory was that they were just negligent by not tightening them tight enough and figured they probably fell out somewhere on the long ride down. My mother was livid at the safety concerns, making the valid point that if the loose bolt had fallen out as well, I could have been stranded on the side of the road, possibly without cell coverage. The only reason I gave it 2 stars and not 1 was that they said if I purchased the bolts at a GM dealer in town they would refund that purchase and seemed apologetic over the phone. But it gets worse. This was all frustrating enough working on the theory that they put all 4 bolts back in but 2 just fell out due to to not being tightened well enough. It wasn't until I purchased the other bolts and was going to install them that I noticed something interesting. ONE OF THE ORIGINAL BOLTS WAS SITTING ON ANOTHER PART OF THE ENGINE. I assume they took the bolt out, set it there, and then couldn't find it later. This is so much worse than not tightening them because it means that my car came in with 4, they worked on it, and then tested and sent it out KNOWING THEY DID NOT PUT THE BOLTS BACK, without saying a damn thing to me. Still not sure where the 4th is. Might be on the road, might be somewhere else in the engine. I wasn't gonna take the time to write about my bad experience until I found that bolt and realized what happened. This was such poor quality work that I felt it was almost my obligation now to share my story as a warning for others.​ read more

So let me start off that I will never go back to the firestone in Lawrence Ks. I called them this morning at 8:30 am ish. I told them I had 2 vehicles that needed an alignment. One was a 2012 ford fiesta the other was a 2015 ford fiesta. I was told to come in at 10 am so we got there at 945 am took me 15 min to give the first set of keys to the person handling the clients. He told me that the alignment should only take an hr as I told him after he asked me what time would you like this car back I said asap. As my girlfriend with our 2 week old child had appointments. I then told them that she had bought tires and got road hazard with them, and that the left rear had a slow leak. The firestone employee then told me it would be LITTLE OVER AN HOUR since I added a tire repair I said that would be fine. So at 11:30 am which is an hr and half from drop off we went back to see if it was done. I walked in and the older front counter guy got the paper work and said that the car needed rear shocks and the windshield wiper container had a hole in it and he was working up a quote on that. He also stated to me that the steering wheel was loose on the inside. Which I knew of all these problems, he gave me a quote on the shocks that was 340 bucks i beleive. Which I told him I can do my own shocks and I already knew about the steering wheel been that way for 6 years and I told him that the container not only has a hole in it but the pump that sprays the fluid is missing due to the fact that my girlfriend pumped a tree stump that she didnt see. Anyways I asked how much the alignment was and he said O we was getting ready to call you about all the other issues we havent done the alignment. 90 minuets to change a tire and do a bunch of crap that I did not ask for. He also told me I needed 3 new tires. Well no shit sherlock holmes hince why I wanted an alignment. So he stated we can get it in now I told him it was to late for that car and if they could just do the 2012 ford fiesta, time now is 11:25 He promised me that he could have it done be 12:30 after he knew I was frustrated with the 2015 ford fiesta where they only got a tire repair done in 90 minuets WALMART COULD HAVE BEAT THAT TIME. OR ANY OTHER SHOP THAT ACTUALLY CARED ABOUT THIER CUSTOMERS So I was hesitant on the 12:30 as I told the employee that my girlfriend had to be back for an appointment he stated quote "Sir I would not promise you if we could not get it done. So I said ok and left again came back 10 minuets before 12:30 My car had yet moved from where I dropped it off even though they said I was next in line. I went in and the same guy that promised it be done at 12:30 said it should be about done. I asked him how that was possible since the car has yet to move. He didnt even know the status just making shit up, I knew more then he did and I dont even work there. I looked over to where they align the vehicles and when I left there was a grey car on the rack now there was a white suv. I stated to him and the guy I originally called at 8:30 am how I was told to be here at 10 am and I have done everything that they asked and here it is 2.5 hrs later and neither of the two cars were done except foe a simple 20 min tire fix. Neither one of them seemed to really care or offer any discount just told me once again I was next. I just could not wait any longer. I have bought countless sets of tires and have always did ALL MY ALIGNMENTS WITH THEM or the one in Topeka. But after this ordeal I will not be back and I would not recommend them to anyone. IT was by far worst customer service that I have ever encountered. So I wasted a day for nothing. I hope corporate can set this wrong into a right. read more

Between forgetting to call me, misdiagnosing my car for costly and unnecessary repairs, and tightening my lug nuts until they're impossible to remove, I wouldn't take my car here if it was the last place open in Lawrence. read more

I travel all over the south and Midwest and I use firestone everywhere I go. Some aren't so good and some are great, but this one is my favorite. Personable workers, explain what they are doing and what needs done and why, but don't put pressure on you to do something that doesn't have to be done. Finally got some answers about things the other Firestone's do for my car that the other places will never explain to me when I ask. Me and my family bring all our business to these guys where we can. Highly recommend. read more

If I were you I would avoid this place at all cost! They will try and up sale you like crazy. They will try and sell you things you DO NOT NEED! I think they get some sort of bonus if the take you to the cleaners. I took my automobile in for some service stuff that I just did not have time for. Little did they know how much I do really know about auto repair. They are full of inexperienced driveway technicians. I use the term technician for lack of what I would like to call them.
