Sometimes my husband and I have a taste for their unique breading and shrimp. While this location does not have the nostalgia that the original location brings the taste is still there. I'm glad they opened a few more places to go to now. Wish they would open a place in Indiana. Since that's where I am from now. I have been going to Lawrence's since 1970s when they only had the Canal street store. That alone speaks for itself. There is more of a raw fish and smoked fish assortment at the Canal store , but the breaded shrimp over the past 45 years has been consistently delicious, especially the lightly breaded shrimp. The breading has a unique flavor and we like the crunch . We have ordered fried oysters and also very tasty. So, after all these years , it has consistently been delicious and where we go when we want fried shrimp, reasonably priced . The shrimp is the star here but Im not sure if people know how good their "wing zings" are. Let me tell you that their wings reign supreme! I've never had wings better from anywhere else and I've had lots of wings! Whatever they use for batter is key. The wings are so crispy, flavorful and have the perfect amount of spiciness. Both the wings and shrimp are always served hot and fresh. I wish I could eat here more often and I'm glad there is a location closer to me now. It's best to place your order online and then you will receive a text when your order is ready. This is a nice touch and avoids waiting inside with others. My first time at this location. I haven't been to Lawrences in a couple of months. Me & my friend decided to come here since we were in the area. We came at a good time b/c no one was here except for one other person. The inside was very clean & this place has a small sitting area. We waited not even 10 mins to get our food. Well, I have been anticipating this place opening for months! So far, I like what I see and taste and it seems like you get a reasonable amount of food for the price point. The wait for my order was over 10 minutes but, the quality and taste more than made up for it and at least it was made fresh. First visit to this location, ample parking, very clean facility, bathroom key easily accessible for customers (2 single stalls). The inside is closed for dine in right now (COVID), staff were wearing mask. Daily specials is a plus. The food was ready in 10 mins and they use a nice loud and clear microphone to call your ticket number! The shrimp were fairly fresh, big with a crunchy batter. The Lawrence's location near Chinatown is a Chicago staple, so it was exciting to see that a new location was opening up less than 5 minutes away from my parents' home. I decided to stop in and get a quick sample, since I had not had Lawrence's shrimp in a while. The inside of this restaurant is very clean and spacious. There is room to grab a table, or you can sit and wait for your takeout order. There is also one small table outside you can sit and eat at. We placed our order for a half order of shrimp and an order of the corn fritters. The wait time was not long at all for our food to be freshly fried. I would say that about 7 shrimp came in our half-order. The shrimp are listed as large shrimp. I will say that they are definitely not jumbo shrimp. They are a good size, but I think some people will be disappointed that for the price they are not jumbo shrimp. Let's call them more medium sized. However, they were fried perfectly and definitely had that sweet batter taste that is standard at Lawrence's. The corn fritters were tasty too, but a few were slightly undercooked on the inside. Didn't stop us from eating everything we ordered. I will say that this location is fine. It's nice to have a location near the suburbs when you are craving fried shrimp. It is expensive, but don't knock it until you have at least tried the food here once. read more

My big complaint is with your store on 3242 W. 87th. Street. We got shrimp there today which was the lightly breaded large shrimp. We have been doing business with the Canal store for over 30 years and the Hillside store. First time we tried this 87th. We have always loved your food and service. Outstanding restaurant. We were so disappointed with this 87. street. store. My 92 year old mother couldn't believe that the old hard little oily shrimp that I bought home from your 87 street store was from Lawrence's. We always felt strongly that Lawrence's meant the best quality. They probably didn't change the oil in years thats how bad it was. We all had one bite and we had to throw it away. I wished I lived closer I would have brought the sorry shrimp to your 87th. store and see if they could eat it. I should of taken the long trip to prevent other people from getting ripped off. Visited sober and realized the breading is horrible and the shrimp are tough. The new location on 87th Kedzie is clean. Well the location on Canal had an overhaul as well.
