The night before our trip, I made the mistake of reading reviews and started to feel a little skeptical, but by then, it was too late to cancel. I'm actually glad it was, because our experience turned out to be a great one. When we arrived, the grounds were absolutely beautiful and very well maintained. At check-in, we were told the last wine tour started at 5:00 p.m., and it was already 4:45. I asked if we could go the next day (Monday), and the front desk agent assured us we could, saying they were open daily from 12-6. After settling into our room, we headed to Louis' House of Bourbon. The food was decent, but the drinks were excellent. The atmosphere alone made it worth the visit. The next day, however, we found out that the wine tours and tastings were actually closed on Mondays, which was disappointing given the information we were told at check-in. Still, we didn't let that ruin our trip. We went out to a nearby steakhouse for dinner and returned to the resort for drinks at what had quickly become our favorite spot, Louis'. I have to give a special shoutout to the staff, Manny, Anya, and Cole were amazing. They were attentive, friendly, and really elevated our experience. Overall, we had a great stay and are already looking forward to coming back, especially in the summer to enjoy the pool and hot tub!

I am writing this one to protect you! This is a declining resort, pretending to offer a luxury, high-end resort experience. There is absolutely no importance placed on customer service. The facilities and grounds are underwhelming for the price. It was not clean. And they do not value their guests. I spent so much money to stay a weekend with my fiancée to celebrate our engagement. We were incredibly excited. Coming home, I felt like I had been tricked out of my money. Our room was not ready when we arrived at check-in time. They scrambled to get the champagne and roses ready, ruining the surprise for my fiancée. The spa was consistently unclean: dirty towels left on furniture, stepping over empty glasses and cups everywhere, and the men's locker room looked like no one had attended it all day. Good luck getting in touch with any of the staff. They are understaffed and disorganized. Whether it was the spa desk, a restaurant, room service, management... we were constantly playing phone games, reaching voicemail, and never getting a call back. The massages were a horrible value. They were very expensive, yet mediocre, and my massage therapist talked during most of it about himself. It was not a relaxing experience. Every place we ate at the resort was overpriced and also mediocre. During our second day, my fiancée had stomach issues due to the food we had eaten. So we were unable to attend our wine tour. When I explained this to management, and tried to get a refund for the tour (or at least a credit), we had to again play many phone games before being told nothing would be done. The lack of customer service, especially for the level of service we were expecting and paying for at a "luxury" resort, is truly the most disappointing aspect of Chateau Elan. Please!! Do not make the same mistake we did, do not waste your money! Personally, I wish i'd stayed at the Hampton.

Everyone was coming and going on different dates and at different times. Everyone stayed at the same resort. My niece was our group "leader" although at times some of us went different ways. Our Official Leader/Advisor was Ruby Anne from Castle Connections out of Lawrenceville , Georgia. Ruby was efficient at helping us get reservations and times. Also in making changes to some of those reservations at last minute while we were enjoying our day. We found her to be knowledgeable and current on things that were Disney. THE FAMILY REUNION WORKSHOP!…read more My husband I recently attended a family reunion workshop sponsored by the Alpharetta Convention and Visitor's Bureau (ACVB). It was held at the Marriott in Alpharetta and our presenter was Hala Shell. Our next family reunion will be in the Atlanta area in 2019 and we wanted to get some information regarding the planning and organizational process. Although we are not the primary organizers, we will be offering input and support. After attending a recent reunion, I definitely saw some areas that needed more attention. I think that people largely forget about the children attending and making sure that they have their own agenda. I'm sure they don't want to be sitting around listening to a bunch of adults and seniors reminiscing about the past and feeling excluded. These reunions are a great opportunity for kids to learn about their history and family connections. We also wanted to see more visuals that reflected the family tree and its branches with a way for everyone to easily identify their place on the tree. Finally, I thought that the reunion should have been better structured so that people weren't just drawn to familiar faces but would be encouraged, (through the use of games and ice breakers) to get to know new attendees as well. If you are involved in the planning of an upcoming reunion, you may want to consider some of these ideas. This workshop was great for providing information on the specific details (confirming a date, securing housing, addressing finances, deciding on specific vendors etc), that need to be addressed. It also helped to identify 'free" resources and support offered by the ACVB, and pin-pointed primary considerations to be addressed, (location, communication, number of days, advanced notification), as you begin to plan your reunion. Since this workshop was Alpharetta specific, much of the information promoted local resources and activities. However, the reunion planning guide is very well prepared and a great resource for plannning a reunion anywhere. We were pleased that we took the time to attend this event because it was very helpful. We would like to thank the Marriott for being a perfect host site, providing a nice continental breakfast and delicious lunch. We were even able to tour a couple of the hotel rooms in order to see what was available. I understand that they will be offering another workshop in April so if you are interested in attending, give Hala a holla!

I regularly use the Marta Gold line, the cleanest and busiest stations are Lindberg, Lenox,…read moreBrookhaven, Chamblee and, believe it or not, the Doraville station is probably the best kept. So this review is about the Doraville station, then the others and what to expect. The Doraville station bathrooms have been renovated, but you do have to call to be buzzed in, because it would be a fetid shit hole otherwise thanks to the homeless. Gwinette voted down Marta expansion, yet they have taken over the Doraville station. So if you are going to an event intown, you better get there a little early to get a parking space. If full, go to the Chamblee station close by. For FIFA the Doraviile station filled up quick. Arts Center, Midtown, North Avenue and Civic center are ghost towns. Marta should close the North Avenue and Civic Station because no one uses them. South of 5 Points its the ghetto stations, no way am I using Marta in this part of town at night. Recommendations for the best experience: board the front car with the conductor, check your seat and floor before you sit, because you may be stepping or sitting in a piss pool. If you sense danger or just nut case annoying passengers, change cars at the next station. Don't make eye contact and always be alert of your surroundings. That being said Atlanta is big city living, pretty much the same public transportation bullshit as other major cities. Get street wise

Rating is for Marta overall mainly gold & red line. In leu of Peachtree road race 2025 our family…read morehad the smart idea to park at Marta then ride and walk to the hotel. This cuts out the $50 a day for hotel parking, the Doraville station has surface & parking deck areas, two nights was $16. Lenox station is cheaper FYI. I had only rode Marta one other time before this and it was over 10 years prior, I was mainly traveling solo on Marta this time. For the Doraville station be sure not to park in the front parking as this is NOT overnight and you will be towed. The ticketed parking is just beside with minimal security. Doraville is the gold line that goes into Lenox where the race starts; our stop was Peachtree center. The trick to going from Peachtree back to Lenox is to know that both red & gold run on same track, which I didn't. I got on the train saying North Springs and ended up at Medical Center before realized, rode back to Lindbergh then gold to Lenox. The train itself is minimally occupied unless a big event is going on. It was somewhat clean as meaning no visible trash. There are homeless persons all around the escalators underground and you may get accosted on the platform but just be smart. I put the Breeze mobile app on and bought 3 day pass for $16, my main issue was the QR code picking up on the scanner. Every time I dreaded it because would never scan on first, 2nd, maybe 3rd try if was lucky. Overall IMO, Marta is a deal at $2.50 to go all over the city pretty quickly. It can be a little sketchy at night but just be aware of surroundings.
