At a brewery, what a better appetizer to start with then the beer pretzel and beer cheese! The cheese was thick, warm and creamy. We made a big splash ordering the Mega Monty. This is a charcuterie platter which is normally an appetizer. It also comes in a smaller size as a cheese plate, as well, but I like the idea of sharing a big plate for dinner. Most of this review will be about the amazing cheeses on this platter from Von Trappe Farmstead. Von Trappe is a 3rd generation creamery in Stowe, Vermont. I will also try to post a new review - or update this one - with reflections on the beer. I'm going to guess that the Super Gold Award. Winner - Von Trappe's Bloomy Rind - was fully ripened. I could definitely taste the rich notes. It's got flavors of woodsy mushroom and brassica. Brassica are flowering plants of the mustard family, which include broccoli, cabbage, kale and cauliflower. Next I tried Savage Alpine, Von Trappe's longest-aged cheese. I just loved that it had mild notes, slight bits of sharp-tasting tones and it was very creamy. and I loved the aged flavor. The Savage cheese and bratwurst were excellent together. I next enjoy the Mad River Blue Cave-Aged Bleu Cheese. I love it because it didn't have a typical deep, rich bleu cheese flavor, but instead it was very mild, the flavors are experienced higher on the palate, it's very salty and bleu but in an earthy way. It's described as having a strong umami backbone. I've never had a blue cheese like this. I also enjoyed the Robie Farm bratwurst and sauerkraut on the charcuterie platter. The beets tasted home-seasoned with a spicy kick at the end. Very surprising and delightful. The pickles are house-pickled and good, if you love vinegar: they're sweet and sour at the same time. If you're going to offer a Mega Monty charcuterie platter for $50, I think it needs to be a little more mega. Maybe that just means a larger plate. I paired my prosciutto with Ariel's raw honey infusions with honeycomb. Next, I paired the Von Trappe Mount Alice cheese with dates and honey. I have found a few B-Corps in Vermont and Lawson's Finest Liquids is one, so you can see how they donate a portion of the proceeds to a rotating cause. Definitely don't miss the gift shop. I love the Lawson's product design and branding and selection. To see this review on video, find Jenny Blanco Tours on YouTube.

Lawson's Finest Liquids Sip of Sunshine IPA!

I can take Lawson's Finest Liquids off of my "to try" list at long last. I have been wanting to try beer from this place for quite a while and with time and patience it finally happened and I am super grateful that it did. Steve and I had the Sip of Sunshine IPA which I believe is one of their flagship beers. Flavors to look for with this IPA while this fine liquid is on your tastebuds is hoppiness, tropical, sweet and floral. The body of the beer is very smooth which is very pleasant also for the mouthfeel category. Nice IPA for sure, not super aggressive as some but one to just kick back and relax with.

Had great IPA brews here, mine was a Maple flavor with the essence of Vermont maple syrup! We sat outside, had music, great atmosphere! You order at the bar after being seated and receive a buzzer that lets you know when your food is ready. Service was fairly quick. We had the hummus for a starter, my dining partner had the burger and I Had the veggie Ruben sandwich. Go if you want a relaxing time.

Very clean taproom. Large space with great outdoor seating. A few fire pits if you get there early. Had an empanada pop up called Paparika. It was excellent. Had the pruna which I would highly recommend. Beer: Hazy Rays IPA. Hoppy, fruity and delicious.

Lawson's Finest Liquids is a craft brewery that opened in Warren, Vermont in 2008. It was founded by brewer Sean Lawson. Although he grew up in New Jersey, Lawson felt a special calling to Vermont and attended the University of Vermont in Burlington. After a friend introduced him to home-brew, Lawson quickly took up homebrewing as a hobby. His first brew was a maple wheat ale. He married his wife Karen in the early 2000s and by 2006 they started constructing a small brewhouse next to their home in Warren. The barn-style 1-barrel brewhouse (which they dubbed the "Crooked Cabin") officially began production in 2008. This facility never opened to the public, but Lawson would delivery 22 oz bottles of his brews to nearby stores (like the Warren Store) every Thursday morning. The beer's popularity took off almost immediately with the help of media coverage, word of mouth, and beer trading. Craft beer fans would make the trek to Vermont from long distances to get some of the award-winning brews. By 2011, Lawson expanded to a 7-barrel brewhouse to keep up with supply and demand. In 2014, Two Roads Brewing in Stratford (CT) began contract brewing some of his beers to help out with distribution. The brewery was a one man operation until 2016. The following year, Lawson broke ground on a much larger facility and taproom in Waitsfield. The 7,500-square-foot facility opened in October 2018 and now has 50 employees. I recently visited Lawson's Finest Liquids for the first time while I was on a Vermont craft beer road trip. Although it was my first visit to the brewery, I've been enjoying Lawson's brews since I first became passionate about craft beer over 10 years ago. I even briefly worked at Two Roads Brewing at the time that they began contract brewing "Sip of Sunshine" IPA and I still have one of the original 22 oz glass bottles (before they switched to tallboy cans). I arrived at the brewery right when they opened. The facility and surrounding grounds are absolutely gorgeous. The taproom has a rustic cabin feel and there's plenty of seating inside and outside on the patio. There's even hiking trails on the grounds. I pulled up a seat at the bar and looked over the food menu. I decided to order the "Brie, Jam N' Ham" (pressed sandwich with melty Vermont Farmstead Brie, speck, apricot jam, balsamic glaze) which came with potato chips and a pickle. It was so delicious; it tasted like Vermont in a sandwich. I washed it down with short pours of "Double Sunshine" (Double IPA), "Barrel-Aged Wee Heavy" (Rye Whiskey Barrel-Aged Scotch Ale), "Fayston Maple" (Imperial Maple Syrup Stout), and "Tequila Barrel-Aged Triple Sunshine" (Tequila Barrel-Aged Triple IPA). Every single beer that I tried was fantastic! I was even lucky enough to meet Sean Lawson himself! He was super friendly, talked with me for a few minutes, and posed for a photo with me. Before leaving, I purchased some beer-to-go and a cycling jersey in the gift shop. I had a truly exceptional experience at Lawson's Finest Liquids and hope that I can return in the future!

Perfect stop after finishing up a day on the slopes! You are greeted by friendly staff and a giant roaring fireplace. The drink options are always great! My favorite is the option for a 6oz pour over a 16oz! The pricing is fantastic. I do wish they have a larger food menu, but the options provided are good enough for a quick snack while drinking. Has a beautiful wooden interior with very high ceilings and huge windows for both light and a view.

Exceptional beers in a really cool space. A bit off the beaten path, but well worth the diversion. The interior feels very spacious and open thanks to high ceilings and lots of windows. Everyone was having a great time. I was only there to pick up beer, but the food looked great too so I'll have to stop by again to enjoy a meal. The staff was really helpful, and their beers are some of the best I've ever had. I got some extras to share with friends and they were thrilled.

Lawson's is a gem. It is a beautiful location with trees, grass, indoor and outdoor seating. Good for groups. Excellent beers! Nice to have a few more choices than just IPA's, although their IPA's are most excellent. You can buy merch and cans to go. Food menu is small, but definitely gets the job done. Kids could play in the grass outside. Service has been nice. We've had to ask for umbrellas every time we have visited and they accommodated. It's a bit of a drive depending on where you are from, but beautiful views and worth it.

Swoon. Lawson's Finest Liquids tap room is as charming as ever, the liquids and staff as fine as ever. The menu has been tweaked a bit: There's now beef chili (with just a tiny touch of beef and a not-wimpy touch of jalapeno) on offer, as well as a vegan coconut curry butternut squash soup (phenomenal FYI), and a meatball parm hero. There are still several enjoyable salads made with fresh greens, and the star of the show: the soft pretzel with everything seasoning. It's not a place we'd go to specifically for food; the primary focus remains on the fun, sometimes unusual craft beers on tap, the music, the vibe. The food is better than it has to be, not just there to absorb alcohol so you can get home safely, though it serves that function, too. There's live music on many Tuesdays. We loved listening to the mellow, gentle guitarist, John Drew Petersen, we heard tonight. https://open.spotify.com/artist/1ZkDdmIWsaK0sLMr4kJydq The ceiling probably swallows sound so it may be a tough space to play.

Food choices are sparse. My wife and I struggled with the simple menu. Great beer, but I would definitely eat before coming here.

I could even see trying to talk mama into driving an hour if I really had a taste for some schnitzel. So rating Von Trapp a high 3 is based on an average evening where you're not sure what you want for dinner. As I've alluded to, it's German themed as it was founded by the family around which the Sound of Music was written. Our server was fantastic. She was the right balance of helpful and fun without dominating our experience. The outdoor patio is dog friendly and it's an overall comfortable environment. Most importantly, the beers were good.
