**November 2025: Early Afternoon Visit**…read more My friend and I are on a roadtrip, and I saw all the positive reviews and thought this would be a great place to grab a snack for later. The shop is located in an ethnic part of town, right at the corner, and parking is pretty tight. I think there's three parking spots and admit that we did have a little trouble trying to get our spot. Eventually we secured a spot and I ran in to see the offerings. The shop is very intimate and the tray had a good assortment of savory empanadas and sweet pastries. There's no seating area and is definitely a grab and go type of joint. After looking at all the options I bought 4 empanadas (for a total of $11.86 paid cash. When I got home later that day I was really impressed by the flavors of each. They weren't in the slightest bit greasy and the filling to dough ratio as excellent. Spinach & Cheese: $3.00 (?) - great vegetarian options. It was creamy and Rancheta: $3 - Pork Sausage and Corn (LOVED THIS!) - This was recommended by the hostess and it did not disappoint. The sweetness of the corn complimented the salty/savoriness of the sausage Beef/Carne $2.70: Juicy and flavorful Pernil Pork $2.80: This one was my least favorite, even though it was still very good. I guess pork is a little drier than beef, but still good Overall - a fantastic find and all the trophies displayed are well deserved. If I come back to providence I will certainly make a trip here for the pockets of joy!

Some if my favorites: - Brisket: Get this. It is always tender, juicy, and flavorful. Beware, portions are huge! - Veal: Super flavorful, the marsala mushroom sauce is lovely and envelopes the tender morsels of meat. I might even like this better than the brisket. - Roasted asparagus: Perfectly tender and well seasoned. - Sweet potato hash: Amazing. Sweet and savory, soft and creamy, and a lovely bright orange. - Omelettes: Perfectly cooked, great breakfast option - recommend adding ham, spinach, cheddar cheese...but you can add whatever you want! - Pancakes: Made to order, get them with the fresh plump blueberries and chocolate chips. You are welcome. - Cookies: Don't miss out on the cookies - snag one to go as you approach the register (they are kinda hidden on the rack in front of the register). Oatmeal raisin and sugar cookies are my favorite.

It's funny how the little things keep a hospital staff going during an influenza pandemic or 100+…read moredegree heat wave. The Miriam Hospital cafeteria is certainly no exception. First of all, the Miriam caf staff are really cream of the crop. They should be awarded MAGNET cafeteria. They are SO amenable to custom orders at the omelette and pancake station in the morning. You really can't beat their willingness to try ANYTHING. And by anything, I mean pancakes with chocolate chip AND blueberry, pancakes with chocolate chip and strawberries from the yogurt station, omelets with corn beef hash, omelets with tater tots... (okay, okay, I agree, omelets with tater tots are probably a little Napoleon Dynamite--but don't knock it until you try it). Speaking of tater tots, I don't understand how they get their tots so crispy and seasoned to perfection. I've never been a huge fan of tater tots, but these are like... frikkin nunchuck skills good. And all for LESS than $1. At lunchtime, I'm a huge fan of their panini station. They usually have 3 or 4 options, and you can opt for half or full. They also have a full grill and can make you whatever type of sandwich you want--burger, turkey burger, veggie burger, chicken sandwich, french fries, curly fries... again, all for dirt cheap--LESS than $4 for fries and a burger. But here's my big tip: the gift shop across from the caf has a cafe extension. They make AMAZING Boar's Head deli sandwiches, have cheesecake factory cakes, AND make fresh-brewed ICED TEA!!!! Endless options. Miriam food is more than sustenance. And yes, it's potentially the one thing that could get us to go to the hospital when we're not working. (I have witnessed residents planning brunch at the Miriam on a Saturday morning off, no joke).
