We really enjoy having breakfast here. Good food, great service and we enjoy the atmosphere. We've been there several times and find its fairly quick for us to get seated but we're not going during peak times so thats helpful. Coffee is good, menu has many options. Came here for Mother's Day brunch and it did not disappoint! The atmosphere and the service from Courtney was fabulous. My very picky son had a waffle and then requested we make it for him daily! After one bite myself, I immediately knew why. My husband had the Challah French Toast which he completely devoured! I had the Eggs Benedict and I am a very harsh critic on this brunch dish, so when I say it was perfection, that is not a compliment I give lightly. The eggs were cooked perfectly and the flavor profile made my tastebuds go through a delightful journey. To top it off, we ended the meal with a mini lemon meringue pie. I've been here three times now and can confidently give Layered 5 stars. I was hesitant to order the Quinoa salad, anticipating the basic Mediterranean salad with a few onions and olives on top of a thick bed of lettuce and a boring balsamic. Still, as a vegetarian I couldn't turn down the quinoa. I was more than pleasantly surprised by what I got. The ratio of "fixins" to greens was on point, all was finely chopped so you get all the goodness in every bite, presentation was unique and the delicious dressing seems to be a homemade whole grain mustard based balsamic. Most importantly, the flavor was perfect. Nice twist with the cilantro too. I'd also give two thumbs up to the smoked fries, cold brew, coffee cupcake, drip coffee and their breakfast sando (I did medium fried eggs on croissant, add avo). While this place is cute and the robot who brings out the food is cool, I will not return. 2 of 3 of our party were there when we arrived and couldn't be seated and it was very open. I get it, no big deal. Once our 3rd arrived, we were seated promptly. Tried to order bottomless mimosas upon sitting down and apparently on Sunday, you can't get alcohol there until you have food on the table. So we ordered right away and our food came out quickly but my mimosa was a straggler (which he said would be out as soon as food hits the table). We ate our food which the waffle was subpar and chatted having been at the table for no more than 45 minutes, the waiter told me he could get me a mimosa to go, but we had to leave because they had reservations and needed our table. 45 minutes - seriously - how rude is that?! I have never been asked to leave a table in my life - suggested we go to the bar which had no room. It would be different if we had been holding up a table for 2 hours. We ended up moving to an outside table in the sun so I could drink my mimosa and I could finish chatting with my friends. I was expecting good. What I received was amazing. This little spot was indeed truly amazing. Took the family here on a Saturday morning for a late breakfast. We will be returning. Nearly everything was fantastic. Let's just get right to it. Hands down two of my best ever items were had here on this Saturday. The corned beef hash and the waffles. The hash is large chunks of perfectly flavor corn beef among perfectly cooked potatoes topped by a perfectly cooked egg. Superb. Here's the thing with the waffle. It was a kid's menu waffle. I didn't even get an adult waffle. I ate a few bites of my son's when he didn't finish. I really don't know what they do to it, but it is incredible. We will return. I wish I could say it was a pleasant surprise but it wasn't & I won't be coming back or recommending it to anyone i know.. Service was mediocre but even worse than that was the attitude of the manager who seemed surprised to see a hispanic couple enter his establishment, from the minute we we entered he gave us dirty looks and plenty of side eye looks & didn't even bother to greet us as patrons & walked to table next to us & welcomed them. The fingerling potatoes were seasoned well and roasted tender. I had the homemade pasta with chicken and fresh garden peas. I thought I was eating in a very fine dining spot. Delicious food and fun atmosphere! True artisan coffee fans will love their espresso menu. Layered breakfast plate is a delicious all American plate, ask for bacon crispy and the breakfast potatoes are so good with their house made salsa (the best!!). My husband orders the Migas every time we come here, and it's too good to try something new! Also a bonus, this place is open earliest on the Square. No kids menu unfortunately but it's easily fixed because they offer any menu items a la carte for kids. My daughter gets 1 waffle (normal order is 2 delicious liege waffles) and a side of bacon. Highly recommend to anyone who loves good food and coffee!! read more

My husband and I decided to try this place out for breakfast after passing it up a couple of times while walking around McKinney's beautiful and romantic downtown area. It has a charming decor with a rustic feel, which my husband thought would be the perfect place for a breakfast date. There were a few people seated indoors and one couple seated outdoors. We decided to sit indoors and was promptly seated. It was a bit dim in the back where we were sitting due to the light over our table being off. The service was decent, everything came out in a timely fashion, however the food was not what I was expecting. I ordered the layered waffles and they were served to me lukewarm and tasted like waffles in the bread department of a grocery store, no flavor at all. I literally had to drown them in syrup, the texture was a bit rubbery as well. My hubby ordered the lox bagel and the bagel had a slightly stale taste to it, like it was left sitting out, it would have been nice if it was toasted. The lattes were pretty good, which is why I gave them three stars for service and good lattes. One thing that troubled me was when we were checking out, I saw a fly in their dessert case and I told the barista that the fly was in the case, he acknowledged my comment and continued on with his task. After our transaction was complete, my hubby told our server as well and she didn't seem to care that the fly was landing on the pastries, neither our server or the barista made much of an effort to open the case to let the fly out, but they allowed it to continue to contaminate the baked goods; with so many good breakfast and brunch restaurants in the area we won't return. read more

Made a reservation for Mother's Day a month in advance. When I called they said even though our reservation was at 1:30 they would not rush us in any way. I even called a week later to confirm this information I was given and was told the same thing. As soon as we arrived today we were told we had to order and they could not serve anything after 2 pm. This included any form of drinks for our meal. The owner was not understanding of our frustrations and talked to us poorly. His demeanor showed how little he cared. When I spoke to the waiter all he said was , " I'm not in charge." The food was mediocre at best. I recommend taking your business elsewhere. read more
