We recently dined at Harvest for a Friday date night and I 10/10 recommend! Our reservations were a bit last minute, so we didn't get there until 8:15pm, but this was kind of nice because the main dining room wasn't very busy. I love the dimmed lights and homey yet upscale feeling this place gives. We had a really amazing server who offered up some great recommendations as first time customers. She had only been there two weeks, but told us she went through a two week training prior so they know their stuff!! Don't be afraid to ask questions. How I would rate our meal: Drinks: I got the amethyst dream and he got the smoke haus. Presentation of both was really nice, enjoyed both drinks but would probably try something different on our next visit. Appetizer: we got the Caesar salad to share. Loved the croutons and the dressing. It seemed a bit small but possibly for one person it would be enough! Entree: I got the crispy chicken breast, the piece of chicken is huge!! All the flavors of the dish come together so well, it's truly one of my most favorite things I've eaten recently! We also tried a side of mashed potatoes which were good and my fiancé got the red fish which he enjoyed. It is pretty light though, so maybe wouldn't recommend if you're REALLY hungry. Dessert: we got the milk and cookies. I wasn't honestly too impressed. I think I expected them to be warmed and gooey and they were not. However reheating the chocolate chip at home was good! For it being a farm to table restaurant, I found the prices to be very reasonable! I already know what I plan to order on our next visit. Four of us decided to check out Harvest... Saturday night for the first time. Let's start with the server. Adriana was great. Had a really chill vide. Super patient with us, answered all of our questions, made recommendations, and very attentive. Will ask for her again. The menu was a cornucopia of drinks and eats that sound amazing. We had the pimento cheese spread, two orders of the chicken fried steak and two orders of redfish. Everything was spectacular. We can't wait to go try other items on the menu. While waiting for our table we wondered up to the 3rd floor. They had live music. The place was jumping up there. We are going to have to look up who is going to be playing and have another married date night. The only downside to the evening was unfortunately the host at the front door. He was rude and severely lacking in communication skills. If anything else had me "meh" I would have taken stars away but everything else made up for his shortcomings. read more

Dinner out with hubby, me, my brother and SIL who have recently moved to McKinney. The building is an old Masonic lodge and the restaurant is on the 2nd floor. Very nice cozy interior. We started out sharing the deviled eggs and fried shrimp. Both very tasty. SIL got the chicken fried steak and it was excellent. Brother got the roasted half chicken and a side of sweet potato fries. He said it was really good. Not dry at all. Hubby and I both got the Creole pan seared shrimp. The shrimp were very small but the overall flavor was very good. We will definitely be back. read more

Fun atmosphere to celebrate a birthday. We were seated on the third floor with a live band (quite loud) but we went for the music. Servers were attentive, but the kitchen service was quite slow, 1 hour and 45 minutes before the main dishes were served. Wow! Just wow! Today was my first time dining at Harvest. I'd heard great things and even booked a rezzie for my brother to bring my mom last year but I'd never been myself. Crowd = great! Really, every single possible thing to make for a 5 STAR experience. It's funny because this is totally what I pictured my move to TX feeling like. I came to check things out before bringing my bff this coming Friday for dinner. I wanted to ensure it's a great place and not waste a dinner with him if it wasn't. It's great alright. I started with a specialty summer cocktail, an elevated old fashioned if you will. I had it smoked which was super fun! I don't typically like lavender flavored anything and I'm not a big fan a fan of smoke in terms of a mezcal over a straight tequila but was totally game for anything here because I was really loving the vibe and totally trusted the service. Drink was incredible. I generally have a one drink rule, unless it's a special occasion and I almost wanted another ;) that good. I ordered the deviled eggs, beet salad and tomato sandwich. We had to try the Deviled Eggs as we've seen so many photos of them on Yelp. They were okay, but nothing special (IMHO), would try something else next time. Entree time & we were starving! He's a sucker for Short Ribs & I'm a sucker for fish so we both were thrilled to see great options for both. -My American Snapper was good, but I was most impressed by the accompaniments to my fish - corn squash / garbanzo beans / Brussels sprout / fresh herbs / chemoula sauce chili oil / grilled lemon. The portion was more than filling and was so tasty, best part it was dairy free so I didn't have to augment it at all! -His Braised Short Rib was good, but a little dryer than normal. Still my hubby finished it all. His accompaniments - fingerling potatoes / leeks / roasted carrots / mustard / béarnaise / pickled jalapeño definitely added to the dish. Not sure he'd order this again. For dessert my hubby chose the Apple Crisp dish and it did not disappoint! I chose a glass of the Gruet, Sparkling, Albuquerque, NM (closest thing they had to Prosecco) and it was delicious! We went to The Harvest on Saturday night and had a great overall experience. I requested a table on the third floor, which had a really nice live band playing. The place was packed, but the service was excellent and the ambiance had a great vibe definitely top-notch in that regard. To start, we tried the deviled eggs, which are a signature item. They were just okay. The pecan topping was a nice touch, but the yolk lacked flavor and tasted like it had been sitting in the fridge. The beef skewers, on the other hand, were fantastic. The sauce was rich and flavorful definitely a highlight. We also had the fried shrimp. They were big, crunchy, and well-cooked, just not particularly memorable. For the entrée, we shared the short rib, and it was amazing. The meat was so tender you could pull it apart with a fork. It came with mashed cauliflower / potatoes .. excellent flavor all around. We also ordered the beet and arugula salad with fresh burrata. It was fresh, but needed some olive oil or seasoning...it just felt incomplete. Dessert was a hit. The goat cheese lime pie was absolutely phenomenal A+++. My boyfriend also enjoyed the cookie set, especially the chocolate chip. Oh and the drinks is a MUST!! Nice from scratch. I was participating in an event in McKinney and couldn't make it to dinner until well after 8pm. I asked around and the locals sent me here. For good reason. The menu makes it difficult to choose; everything looks amazing. In the end, I went with chicken fried steak and it was delicious. Well seasoned, well fried, and very tasty. We came without reservations on a Friday night and the place was booked. We managed to find available seating on the 3rd floor, which was more set up for just having some drinks and not a full on dinner. Nevertheless we decided to order full dinner menu; it was a bit of a tight fit but we made it work. The staff were very friendly and attentive, we didn't have to wait long to get our orders taken and our drinks served. Place was lively and they have a band playing. I ordered the Left Hook Lenda cocktail which was recommended by our server. The cucumber taste makes it very refreshing and it had a right amount of sweetness and alcohol. For dinner I got the bayette wagyu steak, done just the way I like it. The caramelized onions/roasted red pepper beef jus and rice on the side was a delight and enjoyable. My son had beef skewers, while it was delish it was a bit chewy for him to eat. Hubby got the chicken fried steak which he thoroughly enjoyed; the mashed potatoes were very creamy and delish . I would definitely come back here, but next time I will make sure to make reservations to get a better table for eating to make the dinner even more enjoyable. read more

I was at Walls of Clay with my wife and daughter and we decided on a whim to see if Harvest could accommodate us around 5:30 on a Saturday evening. Obviously no, lol, but they DID welcome us to sit at the bar, despite having a 9 year old with us. Never-mind the odd looks we received by some of the other bar patrons. Fuck them, I say. We took them up on their offer and was served by graciously by our bartender Logan. He was kind, informative, and very helpful. The seasonal dip was something or another with a lot of green onions, zucchini, and cheddar and it was quite delicious. My daughter got chicken tenders and fries, and it was a MASSIVE portion. I had asked Logan which he preferred between the pork tenderloin and the pork chop, and to my surprise he recommended the lower priced item. Well, it was amazing. The pork was perfectly prepared and the peach/chorizo jam was pretty nice. There were two bad things with this dish: 1. My daughter LOVED it and kept coming over for more bites. 2. The little potato chili hashbrown would have been nice if it was executed well, but it was quite soggy and felt like just a greasy mess. My wife got the beet salad and roasted sweet potato wedges and said that she was not satisfied with her meal but completely understood she ordered completely wrong. The seasonal dip was delicious had the right amount of sweet & savory with the sweat potato & pistachio crust. Entrees my husband had the porkchop & I had the ribeye. I guess the chef must have changed since I last been since February. They struggled making my steak pittsburgh style. Last time it had a nice crust. This time they missed the mark first attempt wasn't charred enough & 2nd attempt was too charred . I was also in thrown off by the mustard & pickled jalapeños on my steak too. It really brought the entree down, like something a hillbilly that threw random condiments to make a steak look nice. My husband and I came here for some drinks to check out the vibe! Upon walking in, it smells so delicious that although we just came for drinks we decided we had to the something to eat. We sat at the bar where the service was awesome and the cocktail options made it hard to choose. I went with The Smoke Haus which was had vanilla bean infused bourbon and a tasty candied bacon garnish. They smoked it right in front of me as well It was a 10 out of 10 and so good that I had it as my second cocktail. My husband went with the Charred Orange Old Fashioned which was had an orange infused bourbon. He enjoyed his drink as well! Let's talk about the burger! We decided to split this since we already had dinner and just wanted a snacks. The burger and fries were extremely delicious. The homemade ketchup was a great touch on it as well. I love that everything here is locally sourced and fresh. I enjoy that they pay homage to the places where they get their food and the items around the restaurant from. I've never seen a restaurant do that before. They also have three floors so you can head up to the third floor to listen to live music when available and have another drink if you'd like. Nice place, nice staff (server Cat was very helpful) - but food way below expectations. Summary - "If that's Wagyu, I'll stick with trim steak." Booked table for anniversary. Once seated we waited nearly an hour for the food, and it arrived with one good plate, and a $55 "Wagyu" which was a small, twisted piece of sinewed, chewy meat with cold, soggy veggies and mash. Sent it back, and my wife was finished by the time the replacement came - which again, was about as 'Wag'yu as a pup's tail. They kindly removed cost of my meal, and we got anniversary desert. We tried to come on Friday night but without reservations, the wait was 2 1/2 hours! We made reservations for Saturday brunch instead. The brunch menu has the date on it, so it's updated often, I'm guessing. They serve localky sourced food. The decor is amazing. I need them to decorate my house! We started with a cranberry mimosa and a spicy bloody Mary. Very yummy and they didn't scimp on the alcohol. My husband's Bloody Mary was spicy! We then had the seasonal dip with blackened chips. Very good but did not appear to be what was listed on the menu. With that being said, it was very flavorful and simply delightful. I had the steak and egg. I had my steak medium rare with sunny side up eggs. They were both cooked to perfection. The veggies were cubed sweet potatoes, bell peppers, onions and zucchini with chopped pieces of steak mixed in. This was one of the best steaks I've had. The spices were great and it tasted heavenly. The veggies were fresh and the eggs were cooked perfectly, which is sadly rare at most brunch locations. We already made dinner reservations to come back and try that menu. We chose to be seated on the third floor to listen to some live music while we dined. The outstanding quality of food is still there, my friends, as well as the service. We had the beef skewers and the daily dip with blackened tortill chips for our appetizers. My mother had the chicken fried steak and my sister and niece ordered the ribeye and filet as their entrees. The kitchen is also on this floor, and our server encouraged us to take a peek at the hardworking kitchen staff as they prepared our meals and ensured nothing went to waste. I opted for the Deviled Eggs and a Chicken Fried Steak. The rumors are true--the Chicken Fried Steak is massive. I recommend sharing it with a partner and finishing it during your meal, as I found the leftovers to be dry and unsalvageable the next day. Overall, the food felt mediocre and lacked the wow factor I was anticipating. It felt more like an attempt at elevated comfort food. After dinner, our server suggested we take the elevator upstairs for a nightcap. The ambiance changed drastically as we entered a dark, lively room packed with diners and people enjoying live music. I think the layout could be improved by replacing the dining tables with smaller cocktail tables and informal seating, and adding a dance floor, as it didn't feel as inviting as I expected. read more

Tried the new beef cheek and really liked it. Service from David was great. I usually go with the chicken fried steak here and still think it's the best around. Julia had the creole shrimp this time and she's ordered it before too and always liked it. The burger has also been solid when I've gotten it. I even ordered a whole pie from here for Thanksgiving. Eva and Krista were very welcoming and accommodating when we inquired for a table. It was incredibly packed on a Friday night so book a reservation if you want to dine in. The third floor has a nice set-up for drinks and entertainment. I can see the draw to come up and hang out for the ambience. When we dined in, we met David and he was awesome. He was very enthusiastic and knew the menu well enough to tell us when certain entrees we saw on yelp would come back in season. He helped make recommendations and was prompt with the flow of our orders as the meal progressed. By the way, the menu published on their website was accurate so previewing it before coming in helped move things along. This was my first time here and what drew me in was the presentation of the drinks, the clever way they presented devil eggs, the variety of entrees options and the good reviews. I got a grapefruit martini that was excellent and pretty. I got the pickled veggies that was delicious, I never tried or heard of pickling corn or potatoes. My brother got the beef skewers with pickled potatoes - once he told me that the beef tasted like they put A1 sauce mix with bbq, I couldn't taste anything else but that. He ordered the filet entree and they cooked it to his liking so he was happy about that. For my entree, I got the creole shrimp with dirty rice with spinach which tasted good. The bread for the table was a nice assortment of different types to try with butter. The things that fell flat was the dessert and soggy fries. We got 3 cookies to go and the chocolate chip was horrible. The white chocolate chip was okay, and the peanut butter was better. I'm not sure how they could mess this up but it was a bummer. My brother loves french fries and he was disappointed that they weren't good. Overall, I think you should try this place because it's fun and creative but I don't see myself becoming a regular diner.
