Breakfast @ Starwood Cafe in McKinney Tx

We really enjoyed the local feel and ambience and the courteous and friendly staff there. The breakfast was served fresh and made of all great ingredients. We will be back for more !

Review your check before paying! We ordered a dish called Migas without any protein and a Brisket Skillet with pancakes. It was bland but didn't make it a big deal since there was salt, pepper, and many other condiments available for customers. When we received our check, they priced the Migas dish as if we ordered protein and when we mentioned that it might have been entered incorrectly, they came back and said it's because of the bed of avocado. We were never asked if we wanted avocado nor was it ever mentioned that it would be an extra charge. Both the Brisket Skillet and Migas dish we received had avocado on it when it arrived so it didn't make sense with how they were explaining to us on the extra charge for avocados for one dish but not the other. Ultimately, we paid them what was asked, did not escalate the situation, and thanked them on our way out. It's a nice brunch spot, but I think communication with customers could be improved.

6.8 rating, includes atmosphere, and food. 7.2 on the oatmeal itself. Had a little eggs and sausage with sourdough toast. All three were a W. Pancakes were alright, that's why I think it's a 6.8 overall kind of place.

Wonderful service and a sunny dining room. The food is average, not the greatest not the worst. The coffee was good.

Food, Atmosphere,Prices...still good. Service was spotty this morning so I'm pulling a star. I was feeling," out for breakfast "on this beautiful Friday morning. Starwood came to mind so I headed north. I was surprised they weren't busier at 8:45 on a Friday morning. Still it took longer than necessary for someone to show up and seat us. While I was waiting,I couldn't help noticing the dirty plate sitting on the hostess stand! That's a first for me,anywhere. As a result my radar was up and the self talk started. Something's amiss. That would have never happened in the other Starwood visits. Is this well oiled machine in decline. Unfortunately after coming here with high 5 star expectations,I was now feeling guarded and hoping not to be disappointed. Same great selections on the menu, same decor and good prices. Unfortunately, the service was off. After telling the waiter we needed more time he did his disappearing act. Finally we ordered. Thank goodness the kitchen is still on cruise control. The food met expectations with an additional fresh orange juice surprise. I would return, however, part of their challenge is competition is getting thick in the area and they're misfiring. I hope they keep it afloat because....I like Starwood. Go! With caution Note: I dropped a star for service and maybe should have done a 3 because of the dirty plate!

We r ally enjoyed this breakfast spot. The food was served very quickly, cooked as ordered and hot. I tried the Mediterranean omelette which had fresh spinach plus olives. The orange juice was freshly squeezed. Hubby reported the pancakes were excellent. Grandgirls also came along and raved on the chicken and waffles. Parking next to the building and near outstanding shopping.

All three of the people that came by to refill coffee and water and to check on us (multiple times) were very nice. We were fortunate to arrive at the perfect time for a Saturday morning, as we would find out in just a few minutes, as we watched the wait list grow. This being our first time, we weren't sure of the seating situation. I walked to the back, where the to-go pick up was located, to find that we can sit anywhere and that someone would come and help us. We did, and they did. I suggest you stop in and give Curuba a try. Very reasonable prices, lots of menu choices, wonderful staff, oh, did I mention the coffee? I love dark roast coffee, "Just black, please". This Columbian coffee is dark, rich, smooth and flavorful with an aroma that hits the senses with every taste. If you're a dark roasted coffee fan, stop in for a cup to go. You'll be back. And even better, the coffee comes from Columbia. They purchase it from a local importer (I believe). They provided the url via QR code. We believe in the "Buy local" philosophy. It's nice to see businesses doing business with local businesses. THE BAD: It's a small restaurant. Making a reservation (Open Table) is likely a good idea. We happened to find it at a slow moment on a Saturday morning. OVERALL: We're fans. I'd love to take our friends and family for lunch, or tell them about our new find. However, there are some things better kept to oneself.

The gentleman practically went over the entire menu with us which was much appreciated . We were constantly checked on and felt really welcomed. My friend got a coffee and said it was very good . We also tried the lulo and Maracuya juice . I highly recommend the lulo if you enjoy tart and sweet ( the maracuya was a bit too sweet for my liking ). We started off with the empanada sampler and Marcilla au gratin . Not big fans of the marcilla - way too much dairy . The sausage itself was good, but wouldn't get it again . Our favorite empanada was the calentao followed by the brisket. The chicken was just ok. We both agreed that our main course, the sancocho de costilla was yummy . If you're looking for a hearty soup that feels like a nice warm hug, I'd highly recommend . Overall, worth checking out . I'd come back to try other dishes and grab something from the bakery .

Smells like fresh baked bread and goodies every time you open the door. Pastries are SO WORTH IT. They also have seasonal items: - super tangy passion fruit/pineapple danish -refreshing tomato basil danish -fun lemon/raspberry meringue danish We love the ham and cheese croissant too(year round) Giving it 5 stars because we still love it. But had a bad customer service experience today. Ordered a bunch of pastries for 2. We were asked by cashier if we wanted our "tomato danish and elote danish to be heated" Us: "yes, except the tomato danish, pls" Paid and tipped. All was dandy. Went to a table to patiently wait when my husband realized they didn't add the tomato danish(about 1 minute after transaction) He had to get back in line to ask what the mix up was and order it again. Cashier told him she misunderstood that we "didn't want the tomato danish". We didn't get the danish because it sold out (Understandably so, it's super yummy) while my husband was in line. As folks from the industry, we understand mishaps can happen, we still love this place and will still come back. This experience was just disappointing and could have been completely avoided. In the future maybe have cashiers repeat orders back. Which is usually normal for most/all food related businesses.

I will say, the food is good and unique selection of frozen meats and menu items The customer service is not good! A young lady who works there (same person on both visits) is not very friendly! Not inviting with her personality. Rude and seems like customers are bothering her. I chalked it on my first visit as her having a bad day. Not going to judge her on first impression. We a have bad days. Went back for a second visit. She was on the phone with a customer taking an order and was rude and "huffed and puffed" when she got off the phone. While the customer "may" have been difficult, this was my second time seeing her "annoyed" and/or "rude". I grabbed three items from the freezer. Two items had no price tag. Another young lady took the two items and weighed them to place a price tag on them. She did not tell me what she was doing, yet I quickly figured out what she was doing as she grabbed the items without speaking to me. Even though she didn't communicate her actions, I shrugged it off. I was not bothered. Back to the original lady who has now ended her phone call. She begins to ring up my items and takes the label off of the third item, which already had a price tag of $17 (and change). Without saying anything g to me, she takes the tag off the item and rings up the item at $21 and continues adding the other items. Remember, she has said nothing to me as to why she did this AND remember, the item already had a price on it if $17. I stopped her and asked, "Why did you ring me up at a different/higher price?" Her response, "It's wagyu!" Still confused because it was already priced/tagged, I replied, "Ok. It already had a price and you just took it off and didn't say anything to me as to why you did what you did." "Well, it was labeled wrong!" "And how am I supposed to know that and how is that my fault? When I pulled it out of the freezer, it was labeled $17!" I then realized, she had assumed the young lady who weighed and put labels on the other two items had also put the label on this item. She continued, "We have some new employees and they have been labeling some items incorrectly." "So I'm am punished for your (company) mistakes? The label was already in the freezer on item for $17. If that is the price ($21), fine. At a MINIMUM, you could have given me the courtesy of telling me what you were doing instead of just taking it off and changing the price without saying anything to me!" She was quiet for a moment and then said, "If you don't want it, I can take it off. It's the price of the wagyu. There is nothing I can do!" "Yes. There is something you can do, because you just did it! (Making note she changed the price from $17 to $21) I would think you would honor your mistake, and allow the customer (me) the $17 price and inform me of the mistake. Regardless, I still want the wagyu, because I want to try it. That would be the proper way to handle that [situation]." She just looked at me and finished the transaction and asked if I wanted my receipt. Again, very rude interactions both times. I am struggling if I will ever go back. I like this place and want to support the local business. She has just rubbed me the wrong way, so I am jaded. Maybe if she isn't there next time, I will go inside. If she is there I might just leave. LOL

The salmon was also well done with crispy edges and a slab of butter that melted right over it great flavor. Hoping that butter option is available for the steak because that's next on my list.
