    Birria tacos with lamb
    Brad N.

Today I learned: This place has been serving McKinney for 28 years, and it was our first time to visit, definitely not our last. It's lunch only, and it's most definitely a "form follows function" place. Small dining area, somewhat utilitarian, but clean and well lit. Place your order by the hot food server area, and pay after you eat at the register nearby. Mexican Coke as well as the usual array of sweet bottled drinks are available, as is a soda fountain with Pepsi products. But what of the food? In a word, great. I chose the birria taco platter, netting me four crispy street taco size tacos filled with a generous serving of lamb, a cup of consomme, and a smaller cup of red sauce to add some spice. Chopped onions and cilantro are also provided if you want it more traditional. The lamb was unmistakably lamb, but not gamey at all. Tender and juicy, and even better when dipped in the consomme, these tacos were divine. My wife ordered the gorditas, a pair of flour tortillas split open and stuffed with chicken and pork, with sides of refried beans and rice (both almost certainly housemade, and delicious). The gorditas were fantastic as well, with tender meats and great seasoning. Bottom line, this was a great meal served in an old school lunch joint that impresses where it counts, with the food and service. Don't let the low key exterior fool you, there's deliciousness therein.

Hidden gem for real. Food: I got the 3 tacos lunch special for $14 - carnitas, shredded chicken, and barbacoa with a horchata. A single tortilla taco was a bit off putting, but I was really disappointed when I went to pick up my taco and it just ripped in half. The meats are extremely flavorful and juicy but that made the tortilla get mushy and rip. Atmosphere: Access road was closed off due to construction & this is not typically my favorite area to be in, but the restaurant itself was spacious and clean! Service: Guy & his daughter are so sweet. Ordered and left with my togo under 5 minutes & this was on a Monday around noon!

    Migas breakfast - delicioso!

Small and simple - with great food and good service. This place is legitimate. Clearly family owned... which I love. We came for breakfast... The breakfast burritos are outstanding... And very large. I ordered the big... But I had to take half home to eat later. My wife had the migas. We will definitely come back here regular. Bi lingual staff.

Great breakfast! Had a breakfast plate, flautas and a few other meats. Delicious. Recommend: Barbacoa, Picadillo & chicken flautas.

The gentleman working the list for waiting is funny and friendly. He keeps everything organized, Food: 4 STARS The croissant sandwich was good. The croissant itself was soft and flaky. The bacon was cooked well and the fried egg was cooked perfectly. The grits were just ok. The butter and sugar helped, but wasn't a fan. Drinks: 4 STARS The mimosa board is cute. You can get four mimosas priced fairly. The pineapple flavor was great. The orange was not real orange juice so it was a NO. The pour is definitely heavier on the champagne side so that's a bonus. Overall it was enjoyable and my experience was good. I love the name EGG-CITED it's a fantastic restaurant name.

First off the menu options are varied making it hard to choose just one entree. Did we want pancakes or French toast or biscuits....so hard. We were seated at the back of the restaurant, kitchen side and it was so fascinating to see meals as they were prepped to go out to patrons. Everything looked fresh, delicious, and made to order and the portions were definitely shareable. We started off with brunch cocktails and even received a comp croissant beignet appetizer which was absolutely amazing. They were flacky on the outside and butter soft inside with amazing Nutella dipping sauce. We decided to go with a green goddess salad with all the yummy veggies, French toast, and pancakes for the table. This is a great place to dine alone and with family, friends, or a brunch date. Its very farmhouse chic and cant what to go back and try more of the menu. They will always get a recommendation from me. The place was so crowded that it was ridiculous. Don't think the fire marshal would have been pleased with the crowd and the crowd management. The place was hot. HVAC was not good. The place had really bad noise management. You couldn't even hear the person across the table. Very frustrating. Maybe they need better ceiling tiles to manage noise.

I love the dimmed lights and homey yet upscale feeling this place gives. We had a really amazing server who offered up some great recommendations as first time customers. She had only been there two weeks, but told us she went through a two week training prior so they know their stuff!! Don't be afraid to ask questions. How I would rate our meal: Drinks: I got the amethyst dream and he got the smoke haus. Presentation of both was really nice, enjoyed both drinks but would probably try something different on our next visit. Appetizer: we got the Caesar salad to share. Loved the croutons and the dressing. It seemed a bit small but possibly for one person it would be enough! Entree: I got the crispy chicken breast, the piece of chicken is huge!! All the flavors of the dish come together so well, it's truly one of my most favorite things I've eaten recently! We also tried a side of mashed potatoes which were good and my fiancé got the red fish which he enjoyed. It is pretty light though, so maybe wouldn't recommend if you're REALLY hungry. Dessert: we got the milk and cookies. I wasn't honestly too impressed. I think I expected them to be warmed and gooey and they were not. However reheating the chocolate chip at home was good! For it being a farm to table restaurant, I found the prices to be very reasonable! I already know what I plan to order on our next visit. Also looking forward to bringing some friends/family to the third floor for drinks and live music!

While waiting for our table we wondered up to the 3rd floor. They had live music. The place was jumping up there. We are going to have to look up who is going to be playing and have another married date night. The only downside to the evening was unfortunately the host at the front door. He was rude and severely lacking in communication skills. If anything else had me "meh" I would have taken stars away but everything else made up for his shortcomings.

I went with the meatloaf since I kept seeing people call it the best thing on the menu, and they were right. We also tried the pot roast, which was fall apart tender, and made room for the cobbler at the end even though we were stuffed. Big portions, fair prices, and the service was warm without being over the top. There is a sweet little story behind the name too if you flip the menu over.
