I tried some of the spring drinks and they were not as good as previous seasonals unfortunately. Vanilla latte not enough espresso flavor. 6/10. Pistachio honey latte tasted like pistachio milk with barely any espresso flavor. 6/10. But will still be back for seasonal drinks in the future since previous seasonal drinks have been amazing! Service and ambiance amazing as usual.

I really really want to love this place. I've been twice now and it's been a little rough. It's very expensive for what you get and the staff seems grumpy. It also took a half hour to get a turkey sandwich that essentially cost $20. Argh. Not saying I won't be back, but there's definitely some kinks that need to be worked out.

Friendly baristas. Professional and casual. Gorgeous specialty drinks. Inviting lounge seating. Privacy pods for quick business meetings. Curated market section. Books, sweets, alcohol, snacks, dog bandanas, etc. Contemporary super clean bathrooms.

This place is cute but very small. It's packed most of the day, but they close at 6pm so that's nice if you have to study. The turmeric latte I had was delicious. The purple sweet potato chips I had were interesting and the ham and cheese croissant I had was ok. They offer actual food items, which I appreciate over the traditional pastry only approach most cafes offer. It feels like a smaller scale foxtrot, they have a very small grocery section to the side. I can't wait to try their rose matcha!

Super cute cafe! I love that it's dog friendly, the space is pretty big and airy. I also love the little store connected to the cafe. I came in for breakfast on a weekend morning, so there was a bit of a line to the door. But that was just more time for me to say hi to all the cute pups. I ordered the pumpkin spice chai and the breakfast burrito. The chai was delicious. Not super sweet, and perfectly spiced. The burrito was flavorful and pretty filling. It took a bit for the food to come out, but when it did, it was piping hot and delicious. Overall, super amazing spot! I went again a few days later for a matcha latte which was also delicious. Bonus points for a super cute logo as well!

This is my neighborhood coffee spot and I love it. It's always busy in the weekend mornings, so you may not get a seat. I like to come here in the afternoons, as they close a little later than other local coffee shops. Coffee is strong, tasty, and staff is friendly and happy to help. They also have a loyalty program that I've already gotten plenty of rewards from!

A fun place to come grab coffee with friends. They have an area where you can play some Scrabble, and behind there is an area to come sit with your laptop and get some work done. They also have a small market. They are super dog friendly. The service was great, we got our drinks super quick. I really liked the Pistachio Honey Latte. Loved the overall ambiance and experience.

ASHER & JESSE'S CHICAGO COFFEE CRAWL '25 Ranked #14 out of 15 Firstly, I'd like to start off with the pros. The inside of Layla and Ringo's is absolutely adorable. The little grocery store area was so cute and honestly had everything one would need in a jiffy. Super cute concept. Adore how dog friendly and forward they were. Marketing and branding is epic. Now, I wish I could keep saying good things because this is one of the coffee shops I was excited about before I even got on the plane to Chicago. My partner got the Pistachio Honey Latte but it just didn't taste like much of either and tasted extremely watered down. I tried ordering a strawberries and cream matcha but I believe they were out of strawberry syrup so I asked for a suggestion from the cashier instead, to which they said blueberry but I believe they was a miscommunication or confusion because my matcha didn't taste much of anything as well. It may have done something with the way I was ordering where maybe I was being confusing so I will take blame for that. We also ordered a breakfast sandwich which was good! I will give grace where grace is always due-- it did seem like the baristas behind the counter were stressed with the volume of people coming in and they were not adequately staffed. I would love to give Layla and Ringo a second try, maybe on a slower day.

Ok the vibes are so immaculate and this is the cutest branded coffee shop!! They're super dog friendly and the logo is dog inspired too. Lots of tables and couches for you to work at - in fact the cafe is quite quiet because everyone is working on their laptops. Didn't see much chatter happening at all. There's also a little store attached with cute groceries and books. I got the vanilla bean latte decaf with coconut milk. Wanted to be cutesy and try it with coconut milk cuz I normally love coconut milk - but for some reason, it made this drink taste a bit sour. Thank goodness they had a little condiments bar where I could spice up the latte with my usual soy milk - made it much more creamy and then I loved my drink! We also tried the grilled cheese and tomato bisque. Grilled cheese was quite good, but could've had more types of cheeses. Tomato bisque was good, if you prefer more tomato than cream, as this has a really nice blended tomato ratio and tastes very rich. Overall, super cute vibes and the perfect work remote cafe!

Overall I thought the food and drinks I tried were ok, but I loved the ambiance, decor and the fact that it was dog friendly. Similar to foxtrot, they have a large section of the store dedicated to selling speciality foods, fun trinkets and dog treats and the other side is seating. I loved looking at all the fun foods and admiring all the small details in the cafe. The staff were also very friendly too. I got the honey bee latte which tasted mostly like bee pollen, but wish I could taste the espresso a bit more. My friends and I shared a breakfast Sammy, avocado toast and a chicken Caesar wrap. The best bite in my opinion was the avocado toast, which had burrata, bacon and tomatoes. The breakfast sandwich was a bit small but still tasted ok. Nothing special about the Caesar salad wrap. Despite my average rating, I'd still come back with friends since it's a really cute coffee shop to chill at.

    Garden matcha Avocado toast

Really cute spot! Plenty of work space even has little conference booths! I also love how dog friendly it is! I worked there and my pup got to be there too! All of the workers were super great, and everything came out in good time! I got the garden matcha to drink! This was ok, not a ton of matcha flavor. I got the avocado toast to eat. It had the brown hard bits of avocado in it, it weirded me out! The burrata on it was great and the sourdough was very good! Overall vibes are amazing, food and drink is pretty average.

    TURKEY CLUB

Nice lunch at Layla and Ringo's! Got here around noon on a Sunday and it was packed! Waited in line for around 15 minutes and no open tables. Fun menu of speciality drinks. Nice case of pastries and yogurt parfaits. Cute shopping section with some groceries and fun items. Turkey club on sourdough was really good! Don't like that they don't have prices on their menu, turkey club ended up being $19.

Came here for happy hour, small bites and a few drinks. Have been waiting for this place to open and it's a fantastic space! Great vibes and quick service. We had some complimentary bread and a few apps and drinks. The buffalo cauliflower was good, but be careful there was a massive surcharge on getting cauliflower vs. chicken that wasn't listed anywhere. $4 up charge on a $9 app for 6 pieces is a bit steep but it tasted good. Excited to try dinner sometime.

Sometimes when I'm trying to find "international" ingredients at Mariano's or something it's hit or miss. I found what I needed here and it was a fairly quick trip--I don't think I was in store more than 20 minutes. The store is small, and very very crowded. Aisles are about as wide as a single person facing forward. This isn't a place where you're going to get a shopping cart down an aisle. The prices are good. I got a head of Napa cabbage for 99 cents per pound, and when I go to my neighborhood store it's usually closer to $3-4 or more per pound. Since it was such a steal I added hot and sour soup to my menu for the week. There's a parking lot at this store. It's one way, and you must enter from Archer. DO NOT enter the wrong way or you won't be able to park--the spaces are angled and there's not enough space between the building and the fencing to turn yourself around. There are only about ten parking spaces here so I'm sure it gets filled pretty quick, but when I was here I was the only car parked here. There's street parking which can be pretty chancy, but maybe I'm just speaking from the perspective of someone who was here on a busy Sunday in Chinatown.

A line for grocery store fried chicken? Absolute cinema. People have been recommending I get into fried chicken reviews, and I've resisted as I really don't want to get fat, but this was the perfect storm to start a grocery store fried chicken review journey. I got to the front in the line and felt like a fish out of water. I sheepishly asked the employees, Darius R and Damariea J, what the move was as it was my first time getting fried chicken from here. I thought they'd be annoyed, but they were so helpful and welcoming. "Today is actually wing bucket Friday! A whole bucket is normally $17.99 but today it's $9.99. I can give you some of everything so you can try, but the spicy wings are my favorite." Hell yeah. Darius was the MAN. I took my tissi and wing bucket to the UIC campus for consumption. The tissi was a brick and landed at a 6/10, which currently ranks it 71st out of 94 grocery store birds I've tried, but the fried chicken was INSANE. As always, I am looking for new fantastic restaurants, and stores to try out, and share with: family, friends, and on Yelp. As you walk in it seems like a common corner store, groceries in the front, meat towards the rear. When I walked to the back I had a pretty good hunch this would be a great one. The fresh smell, it was very clean, and the amazing eye catching signage. You could feel like you just walked into in a sweet little store in Mexico. When they handed me the food I ordered I knew was on the right track. When I took my first bites I smiled, and knew, I needed to share this place. I was intrigued by the Pozole Verde sign out front. I had never had it before, so I placed my order for that and zero regrets. It comes out in a quart container with a plastic wrapped foam tray with: chopped onions, cilantro, radish, shredded cabbage, and mexican oregano. I added mostly everything but went easy on the oregano. The chunks of chicken were tender and not overcooked. The hominy and vegetables were just right as well. They have this to a science and it has to be near perfect. Now to the tacos: As you often see in neighborhood grocery stores the chorizo was hanging in back above the meat counter, so a house made chorizo taco was a given. The Al Pastor was reccomend by the one of the butchers, and I had a steak taco to round it, and myself, out. All I can say is that like the pozole everything was superb. Even the salsas.. I wish I knew of this place when I worked and lived in the area. I would definitely have known everyone there by name. I still smile thinking of it, and next time I'm in that hood, I will be there. I look forward to trying out a few more menu items, and picking up some of the fresh meat. So maybe don't slap Grandma... but you should at least pick her up and take her out to lunch here. Enjoy! #AlfieEats
