There's a non-alcoholic bar, and it looks exactly like a regular bar with rows and rows of bottles of liquor, except that everything is non-alcoholic. That is really cool--and great for people who don't drink much, like me! There's also a quite large menu of mocktails, which look very intriguing, but tonight I opted for a lassi drink because I needed to get some nutrients in after a very sweaty hot yoga workout... I tried the following: - Mango lassi - thick, sweet, and very refreshing after a sweaty workout! It was my first time to try a lassi, and I thought it was great. The texture was very thick and creamy and smooth, and you can definitely taste the mango. - Veggie samosa - texture was perfect, very crispy. The sauces were outstanding and very flavorful. Possibly the best veggie samosas I've had! - Butter chicken - not the best butter chicken I've had but still a solid dish. The sauce seemed to be less creamy and less sweet than other places, yet a bit more flavorful. My partner was a bit disappointed in this dish, but I still thought it was good (I'm more about flavors, while my partner is more about creaminess). I did find the chicken meat to be a tad dry though. - Lamb & spinach - lamb meat was excellent and very tender. While the butter chicken (see above) might've been a bit dry, this lamb was cooked perfectly. And it was packed with tonsssss of flavors. - Garlic naan - texture was not as thick/soft as I would've liked, but the flavor was veryyyy garlicky, which I liked. They have a full mocktail bar with various cocktail options. This place is a relatively new addition to the street car district. It's easy to access and a good amount of street parking on all sides. They have some really great offerings including their chai is next level good. I was truly impressed at how piping hot and freshly prepared the food comes out. It is truly on par with the more expensive South Asian cuisine options. Prices are reasonable and service is top notch. It's a family owned operation and you can tell how much the next generation cares about service and delivering a quality experience. What's unique is they have a full bar of all mocktails options. I ordered Lazizi on GrubHub for a local delivery. My order was fulfilled accurately and delivery was quick and seamless. It was ready in record time and they included the necessary utensils/napkins in my to-go bag. Samosas ($6) - two per order. Crispy outer shell, flavorful potato filling with a kick to it. While not dripping in oil, you could definitely taste the grease. This item would benefit from being blotted in a paper towel before serving. It did come with a spicy green chutney. My preferred dipping sauce for samosas is the tamarind, but this was not included as an accompaniment. Butter chicken ($18) - you can customize the spice level (I got mild :D); comes with a small side of basmati. Again, the basmati was on the oily side. The butter chicken itself was good. Chicken was tender with a good portion. I did like the flavor of Lazizi's butter chicken better than Indigo's which has a sweeter honey taste. I did find that Lazizi's had a cheesy/tangy aftertaste, either from commingling with some paneer or perhaps from its yogurt base? Ultimately, I would order the butter chicken here again, but it wouldn't necessarily be my go-to place. Naan - good size, soft and fluffy. Great for sopping up your curry. Overall, food was good and prices were reasonable. With the minor notes on the dishes I ordered, I would rate Lazizi as a 3.5, but I'll round up since I am optimistic about other dishes that I still want to try, such as the Spinach Honey Chaat ($10). This is a great restaurant located on H Street. Indoors, this place looks great - very clean, modern, and plenty of AC. My friend and I decided to pop in for a visit after hearing great things about their South Asian menu. I ordered the lamb wrap, and my friend I split the chaat since I've never had it before. The chaat was spicy, but very flavorful. I also enjoyed my lamb wrap - I definitely felt full at the end of my meal. Went to Lazizi on a Sunday night at 6pm and it was full but not packed. A friend and I ordered the samosas as an appetizer and they were tasty! We used the green sauce that came with them and it was good and spicy. For my entree I got the lamb curry and it was spicy and so so flavorful. We asked for yogurt and it helped with some of the spice and added flavor too. Another time I came I got the lamb biryani and it was good but I liked the curry better. For drinks we got the mint lemonade and just like other reviews say, it really is some of the best I've had. After the first sip my friend said it's better than an alcoholic drink. Which leads me to say, despite the large selection and interesting wording, the cocktail menu is for mocktails only. This is a halal restaurant so they don't have alcohol. I really enjoyed my visit here. I wish I remember our server's name because he was really sweet and attentive. I will absolutely be back likely to try another lamb dish. Came to Lazizi on a whim and had a great time. It has a nice family run vibe and really affordable options. The salad was healing for the soul, the hummus was decent, and I liked the tabouli. I got a saag vegetable tomato cream dish. It was good and well spiced, only thing was I had requested no spice and still was a bit spicy. I've been wanting to visit Lazizi for quite some time so when I was invited for a friend's birthday gathering I was excited. We arrived early on a Friday and I was shocked by how beautiful the inside of the restaurant is decorated. The artwork and ambiance is amazing it's like you're transported to another place. We were seated at a long table in the back of the restaurant as we had a party of about 10 people. We ordered a few dishes family style for the table two starters a honey dish, samosa chaat (I believe was the name) and crunchy spinach dish, 2 chicken biryani's which were honestly perfectly seasoned and portioned and absolutely outstanding. The chicken tikka was the perfect spice level and there was another chicken dish with a brown sauce that was a touch more spicy that was equally delicious. We also had two vegetarian dishes and lots of fresh garlic naan bread. Everything was absolutely outstanding, bursting with flavor, fresh and the spice levels were perfect. The service was friendly and the owner came over to say hello to our table and happy birthday to my friend. This is a lovely restaurant and I will definitely be back. This place is excellent! It looks trendy and upscale inside - very comfortable, but with lots of authentic and modern touches. The food is excellent. I got lamb curry, which tasted great but it was very spicy. Loved the cheesy bread that they bring as an appetizer. And the servers were all very friendly and efficient. When I was there, most of the other guests were Pakistani, which was a good sign that this place is the real deal. Drinks took more than 30 minutes to arrive, and we had to keep reminding the waiter. After the appetizers, it was another 30 minutes before the entrées came out. The food itself was very disappointing. I ordered lamb chops but was served small, tough pieces of meat that were nearly impossible to chew. The mixed grill also came with salmon, which was not listed on the menu. When we pointed it out, the waiter insisted it was there, and the owner brushed it off by saying, "I put high quality, expensive salmon in there for you." I eat here frequently. Most of the food is fantastic with some of it being decent and the flavor is refined. Unfortunately sometimes the cut of chicken in some of the dishes is sub par. The ambiance of the restaurant is different but it works and I like it. HOWEVER the service is HORRIBLE. Every time I go here, the host, servers, busboys etc. will ignore you or be completely incompetent at doing their job. You have to go out of your way to ask for everything including being seated, water refills, plates, silverware, napkins etc. The staff are nice enough but awkward and obviously untrained and potentially understaffed. I was very excited and hopeful for this place based on its exclusive Mocktail only bar and halal menu; however, I couldn't have been more disappointed. I tried to make a reservation, but they do not accept them and recommended to arrive around six to guarantee seating on a Saturday. I arrived at 6:20. There were only around 10 customers, but we were not seated until 6:40 because no one would come up to us when we arrived. We then waited 30 minutes before someone gave us a menu and it was only because we flagged down the next table over waiter and told him. He then stood very awkwardly over us immediately after we got our menus demanding to know what we wanted. it was so bizarre. We told him we needed time and then had to track someone down again after 10 minutes to take our order and we made sure to put an appetizers then too because we already had a feeling we wouldn't have good service. it is very strange because they have at least 10 servers at a time on the floor and no one is working. They all just kind of wander around and try to avoid eye contact with you. It took one hour for our drinks and appetizers to come out. I'm not sure how they forgot about us because they use an electronic ordering system, but I had to get someone's attention and ask what was going on because there were so few people to be served. And yet- the big party that came AFTER us without a reservation had already received their main courses before our drinks. There was a single mocktailogist mixing drinks for the entire restaraunt and he is the only reason I stayed because I saw how hard he was working. The food didn't come for another 40 minutes. While it was yummy, the service was absolutely atrocious and I will not be back. You can get the same food somewhere else in DC. So so disappointed. read more

Stopped in with friends around 4pm on a Saturday with no reservations. They seated us without a problem and promptly explained their menu and mocktail selection. My friend is a major foodie and has worked in the restaurant industry as an executive chef for many years- so she asked a thousand questions and all of them were answered graciously. All of the staff were very helpful and attentive throughout our dining experience. The restaurant definitely had a family style vibe but nice ambient dining atmosphere at the same time. I was really impressed by the setting (even the bathrooms were pleasant!). As for the food. 10/10. Samosas were perfectly flaky, great dough to filling ratio- tamarind chutney was absurdly good and well balanced. The naan was everything we wanted it to be, and the humus was the smoothest I've ever had. SO GOOD! Chicken tikka and butter chicken were also divine with perfectly cooked rice. We could not have been happier with our meal after a long day. To top things off, the owner came over and chatted with us after our meal and was very gracious. Like talking to an old friend. I visited this restaurant on Saturday, the theme was beautiful and the music was vibrant. But the food was mediocre: I ordered the lamb bote. They took 30 minutes to bring it out. It was very hard to chew, I requested for them to remake it, they took another 30 minutes. But when it came out the second time it had the same issue, hard to chew it was not cooked well. I been to multiple Indian and Pakistani restaurants the bote is never this rough to the point you cannot swallow it. They didn't care to fix the issue. They also took 15 minutes and multiple reminders to bring me the bread I ordered. There were only 3 people besides me in the restaurant they should do better. read more
