This spot was so cute! It had a rustic Minnesota up north vibe! The restaurant has everything from delicious food, yummy pies, ice cream and fresh brewed coffee! It was fantastic. The food was so delicious. The service was friendly and the food came out quickly. There is a very nice gift shop downstairs and the variety of merchandises were so cute. They also had homemade items such as breads, jams, salsa...so much variety! We will definitely come again! Highly recommended!

We've made it a tradition to stop here on our way back down when heading home from Duluth. The food is delicious, the staff is friendly, and the kids just love seeing the big bear and the giant Paul Bunyan statue!

We stopped here for breakfast after Grandma's Marathon. The view and atmosphere of the place were perfect. Very down-home local vibe, including the huge statues in the back. We had a window table with a lovely view. I chose French toast which was thick, sweet and with hints of cinnamon. I had a side of bacon which was thicker and tastier than typical store-bought bacon. My biggest complaint was that our food was served cold and took a long time to get to us. Exact opposite of my experience in typical restaurants like this. Usually they get you out as fast as they can. It didn't seem like they were short on help, as many restaurants are these days. I still give it a higher rating for the atmosphere and the prospect the already good food would have been even better served hot.

Lazy Bear is one of my favorite places to stop going to/from "up north." It's a bunch of people's favorite in fact, and we picked peak time to stop: a Sunday afternoon. A couple large groups beat us there so they said there would be a 30 minute wait for a table. We were out practice driving and this was our turn around and lunch stop so we were fine waiting. 40 minutes later I see folks arriving after us being seated so I checked on our name on the list. She thought there were maybe two Sues and someone else got our spot. Sigh. But we were then immediately seated and waited on. This place has a ton of windows with a great view of trees as far as you can see. Lots of seating. A little gift shop. Homemade pies. And ice cream! Lazy Bear makes everything from scratch, including their hand cut fries. Both my grandson and I ordered burgers. Me, a $15 half pound California (even though it wasn't on the current menu) and grandson got the $19 POUND burger. I loved the crispy-but-not-burnt edges of the burger. Grandson thought his burger could have benefited from some type of sauce. But both our plates were clean. And I also bought the last loaf of cranberry wild rice bread to take home. I'm hesitant to keep going on and on about how great this place is because it's already so popular. But now you know.

Freshly brewed coffee, Almond Cranberry Croissant with cranberry coleslaw. Country fried chicken meal.

Couple from the southern state Texas, we were really pleased with this place. Service was great and super fast on a Sunday evening. Not to mention the food was pretty good ESPECIALLY THE TRIPLE BERRY PIE WITH ICE CREAM!!! Their gift shop downstairs is super cute. Will be coming back to visit!

Love this place! The staff has always been awesome and the food is amazing. And any restaurant that serves breakfast all day is top notch in my book! I stop here often for a burger or breakfast on trips to or from Duluth. But mostly, it's the pie that pulls me off the interstate. Although I will admit that the last time I stopped the pie crusts were very thin. I hope that's just a one time thing.

The food is extremely expensive and it seems like a tourist trap more than quality food. - coming from a local.

Even though we are visiting Duluth during this crazy time of the wild fires, Duluth Grill made our trip worth it! They have a streamlined process for getting seated, the staff are welcoming and knowledgeable about the menu and local area. My family ordered the usual staples: biscuits and gravy, pancakes and sausage, and bacon/eggs/sausage. All were hearty portions and perfectly prepped. I tried the "Triple B" which turns out to be a Midwest version of Bibimbop. Made with manoomin (wild rice), beef/pork mix, kimchi, marinated kale- probably my fave of the dish. The combo is a deliciously perfect power meal to start any day and weekend right! I was pleasantly surprised and impressed by the care they take in procuring local ingredients- even their kale and some herbs are from their own lil garden. I highly recommend the Duluth Grill, there's something for everyone! We will definitely stop by on our next trip out to Duluth.

Delicious poutine, with oozy gooey squeaky cheese curds. I had the smoked fish salad; it had the right amounts of everything and felt like a distinctly Duluth dish. My husband had the fish and chips. I had a bite of his fish, and it was perfect, with great batter and flavor. I would happily come here again on a visit. I can see why this is a city institution.

When we arrived a bit after 7PM, we had quite some trouble finding parking and ended up having to park a couple of blocks away after circling for 20 minutes. Walking in, the place wasn't too busy, perhaps 50% capacity. We were interested in ordering the fried cheese curds, but the server told us they weren't battered in house, so we passed on them. Smoked Fish Salad (Market Price, $18.99) - This is a pretty salad - all ingredients are arranged in rows along the dish. Mixing things together is a bit of a pain, but I appreciate the dressing on the side to add to preference. The dressing is an interesting blend of mayo and other ingredients, perhaps BBQ sauce, that make it slightly tangy and very sweet. There's an undertone of smokiness throughout, which tastes somewhat like liquid smoke rather than the dressing actually being smoked. It is on the sweeter side of dressings. Other than greens, there's a row of wild rice, dark and snappy, completely broken cultivated rice. There's also a bit of house smoked trout, nice and smoky. (4/5) Classic Wild Rice Burger ($16.99) - This is one of the tallest burgers I've seen in quite a while, mostly due to the inclusion of fresh vegetables including onion and tomato, and alfalfa sprouts. For some reason instead of using larger tomatoes, they use small roma tomatoes, including three small slices. They also used red onion that's chopped into a variety of different shapes instead of whole slices. It's really strange - I guess this saves on cost? Unfortunately smaller pieces means things fall out while eating. The patty is larger than the bun. It has plenty of broken wild rice bits giving some additional crunch and that signature wild rice taste. It's charred on the griddle well and it keeps its structure, not falling apart or becoming mushy at any point. I love how it's distinctively a rice burger and doesn't try to be a meat substitute. Two slices of American cheese are melted on top that gives some fattiness to the dish. The bun is toasted without butter and there's a flavorful garlic mayo spread on the top. It would be nice if they had also applied the sauce to the bottom bun as I found the patty to not have enough moisture or fat incorporated. The burger comes with some thin commercial fries. There aren't any issues with the level of fry and they are otherwise unremarkable. (4/5) Fitger's Brewhouse serves some solid good old fashioned Midwestern American food. Not much else to say.
