DELAYED PICKUP The day after Christmas I went with my dad to this location to schedule a pickup from my dad's house. He had a balikbayan box that included food and clothes (some of them mine) that was going to be shipped via sea cargo to his province of Isabela in the Philippines. The cost of having the balikbayan box shipped to Isabela was $108. Mike at LBC provided us with the slip that included the pickup (order) number and scheduled date, which was Tuesday December 30 between 2:00 PM and 6:00 PM. That day past 5:30 PM I got a call from the driver who said he was going to the bank and asked if he could pick up the box after closing. I said yes, but he never showed up. The following day on New Year's Eve I called the driver. I said to him that didn't come the day before as he said he would. He apologized and responded that he wasn't scheduled to work on New Year's Eve. Also he stated LBC was opened for half a day on New Year's Eve however he said could pick up the shipment later on the day, but in the evening. I informed him I didn't need his service. Then I asked him if I should call LBC. He said yes. I called LBC before it opened. I was directed to customer service. The representative said she would contact the Union City office. A couple hours later I didn't receive a phone call from LBC. I decided to go to LBC in Union City just past 11:00 AM. I talked to Mike at LBC. I showed him the pickup (order) number he wrote. From the counter he called a couple of drivers. He asked me for my cell phone, which I provided him. Mike said he would contact me if he found a driver. About 45 minutes later I got a phone call from Mike. He said the driver Randy (nickname Randyboy) would appear at my parents' house soon. Around fifteen minutes later Randy arrived. He was very helpful. He also apologized regarding the action of the other driver. As an apology he gave two large balikbayan boxes to my dad. Also he charged my dad $90 instead of $108. He mentioned that the office would be closed at 2:00 PM on New Year's Eve. My dad and me were lucky that the balikbayan box was picked up prior to my parents leaving for the Philippines on New Year's Day. Despite the balikbayan box not picked up on the scheduled date I want to thank Mike and Randy for their help on New Year's Eve. read more

I sent a balikbayan box to my sister in law in Quezon City. The box arrived with an opening and the box that was once filled was not as filled when it arrived. Plus the perishables were missing- lotions, canned goods, coffee, etc. The box looked like someone went shopping on it. We even went to Costco, went to Walmart to shop so we could avail of the customer appreciation day of sending a box for $50 to the Philippines. It was not customer appreciation day, it was actually employee appreciation day cause their employee could go shopping for free from the balikbayan box. It was so annoying, won't use LBC for balikbayan boxes anymore. The staff was giving me an example of a case when it happened before and apparently the niece/nephew took the items. C'mon, REALLY????? Told them I was complaining so they can find out what happened and I was not even asking for any compensation. I was just hoping that it won't happen to other pinoys who sent boxes. This place looked quite busy while I was parking. I wondered why the line was out the door. It was when I got in that I realized that if all the customers waited inside the store, it would be an oven!! I felt for the staff who tirelessly worked with each new customer despite it being a hot Saturday morning in Union City. They just continued to plug away, one customer at a time until everyone was served...with a smile. Now that's service for you! Normally, you would expect staff who would rather not be there on a Saturday! Thanks to these staff for sacrificing their day to get the job done. This was my first visit, so I had to get into their system which was a painless few minutes out of my time. I will surely be back with my other cargo needs soon. read more

I'm a loyal customer of LBC however, my most recent experience may change all that. I sent an air cargo last month, (I don't have the exact date as I lost my receipt) unfortunately, last Thursday March 10 somebody from this branch called me up and informed me that LBC needs the updated contact number of the recipient which was totally understandable. However, they totally forgot to inform me that my package which was supposedly for Zamboanga City was already shipped back to Manila that same day. I'm flabbergasted! I am going through hoops right now in trying to sort this out and talking to different customer service agents. LBC Manila cannot even guarantee me anything as of this moment. I have no idea why my package was undeliverable as I ship packages almost every month to the same recipient and same address. The audacity to blame the recipient's neighbors for not locating the address is just mind-boggling! I hope that there is a resolution to this as I do not see myself going back to LBC until then. read more

I have sent a package thru LBC this May 2021. The package arrived in the Philippines and it missing some contents of my box. The delivery guy mention that they open it because something leaking inside my box, but my sister already suspicious, so when she open the box and she said like a garbage inside and not full. The delivery guy don't give any packing list for this package that they usually supposed to do, so my sister ask me if i have still the packing list of course i forward the list and my sister check the list and she found out that they took the all the chocolate, can goods maybe some stuff. I call the guy who pick up my box and told us to report at the LBC Union City branch. It's not worthy to complain waiting a long line then they will tell you nothing is missing, like i'm a big liar. Poor handling of packages and late delivery. The boxes were separated as a set. The few canned goods were packed with lots of clothes and padding so we don't understand how could these canned goods were damaged? How rough was your handling? Parking spaces won't be a problem since it's located at a commercial plaza. My whole transaction went smoothly. The lady in the picture was very helpful compared to the smaller lady who was wearing eyeglasses. She wasn't mean but she wasn't very helpful either. Anyway, I was sending 40 comic books and 4 action figures but their box #3 was too big and their box #2 was too small. The lady that helped me was kind enough to give me one of their supply boxes for free instead of me buying one myself outside and I really appreciate that! Great customer service! This service is absolutely atrocious, period. We scheduled an arrival date two days ago, in which a window of 12 am to 9 pm was scheduled. Guess what? They never came. Next day, they scheduled the same window, never came. Today, the window was 3 pm to 6 pm. THEY NEVER CAME. I do not respect LBC, they are unprofessional and do not have a consistent arrival time. They do not leave any messages, or send out phone calls. I talked to one of the representatives, they deemed me for not checking the phone calls. However, they NEVER LEFT a message. The caller ID was not even from the US. Wow. Just WOW. What kind of window is greater than 5 hours? Seriously. Get your program straight. I hope LBC loses business. They should not put a price tag on a service that is virtually nonexistent. My highest recommendation is that you DO NOT use this service, unless you do not care about your package being delivered in time. IGNORE the decent reviews because the delivery men are inconsistent, unreliable, unprofessional, and unresponsive. HORRIBLE SERVICE; I expect a compensation. read more

Ever since my parents retired and moved to the Philippines, we've been sending them Balikbayan boxes twice a year like clockwork. We use LBC Sea Cargo because there is an LBC office in the small town where my parents live. Boxes go out for shipment every Friday, so you'll need to get your box to their office or picked up from your home by Wednesday. We always drop off the box at their store in the Seafood City mall complex just because it works better with our schedule. It costs $60 to send a big box to the Luzon region and the sea voyage takes about a month. Prepare for your box to take another month to get to its destination if it's headed to another island. My parents live on an island immediately south of Luzon, so the box does not get delivered to them for at least 8 weeks after I drop it off at LBC. My parents were very frustrated last Christmas because the box did not get to their door til Christmas Eve. The LBC customer service representative explained to me that the trucks going to different islands often have to wait a while to board ferries. I suppose the infrastructure in the Philippines has not caught up with the sheer number of cargo that needs to be transported from island to island. Unfortunately, my dad is very impatient, and he huffs and puffs when awaiting his Balikbayan box! Unfortunately for me, I can't do anything about it, but listen to his complaints! read more

It's a convenient location if you're in Union City, but if you're travelling from outside of town, I wouldn't recommend this branch. Friendly customer service is a hit or miss, so don't expect it 100% of the time. The older ladies are helpful & friendly, but the younger woman is a complete opposite... suplado, to say the least. I thought maybe she was just having a bad day, but if you read the other reviews that mention her, it's pretty consistent. If you get stuck dealing with her, and if you have the time, I'd wait for the next available agent for better assistance. For that, I'm giving this branch 2 stars... it definitely could have been better. read more

Very helpful! We had a little bit of trouble finding it because they recently moved to a new location in the Seafood City plaza. The new place is very spacious and nice inside. The two workers inside were very friendly and helpful. I'm part Filipino but don't look like it at all so I'm used to getting weird looks concerning stuff like this. But they didn't question at all why I was sending a balikbayan box to the Philippines, or ask any annoying personal questions. They just took care of my business and had everything covered. The lady was very sweet and made sure I had all the info I needed. I will definitely come back here if I have something to send to the PI again! I definitely recommend this LBC! read more

Given an estimated pick up time of between the hrs of 10:00 - 12:00 and the LBC guy was here by 11:00 :) it's awesome to do business with people/corporation who keeps their word. Originally planned to use Atlas Cargo, thus the box... Went with LBC for peace of mind. Appreciate their patience with me, even though I can't speak Tagalog. The lady was very helpful and made sure I filled out all the paperwork properly. I've only sent one balikbayan box before and used this place then. Heads up, make sure you have all the paperwork ready to go, including itemized list of what is being sent. Include a copy to put in a box and then take a photo and send to intended recipient in the Philippines so they know what to expect. If there is a negative star rating, this is what they deserve. Every time I have to send a box to the Philippines, I have to go through this ordeal. RIDICULOUS!!!! I scheduled a box to be picked up between 10 am and 2 pm and when I called them to check up status on the pick up, I was told they don't pick in my area at that time. The lady on the phone said that their pick up is between 2 pm and 6 pm. I asked why they have that option online if they are not even available. She could not even answer that and referred me to the 800 number. When you call the 800 number you get the run-around. They keep blaming another department. SMDH!!!!!!!!! We are very disappointed with LBC. We were scheduled for a pick up for their premium service on the 10th of December between 2 pm to 6 pm, no one came, not even a phone call from the driver. I had to call their customer service 5x but they were no help because they were in the Philippines! The next day we received a call from them and they asked US why the box wasn't picked up like it was our fault!!! Since we are desperate and it is Christmas, we rescheduled for pick up the next day. Next day comes, still no pick up. We called them again this time their local number...they said our address did not exist on their GPS and that they were trying to call us. The receptionists of are so accommodating! Its my first time to drop by the office. I wanted to get golf shafts shipped. The problem was they were too long for the US Post Office and too expensive for FedEx and UPS. I only spent $25 for a shipment from US to Quezon City, Philippines! Also when I went there, there were customers who dropped by to get their packages shipped and send remittances, which were very comfortable in the place and with the 2 receptionists on the job. I have sent a package thru LBC this Feb 2012. The package arrived in the Philippines and it turned out 90% of the contents of my box damaged. The delivery guy said that they had a gas container inside their delivery van that leaked and damaged most the packages. The stuff I sent are completely garbage. Items on plastic bottles melted and all food contaminated. The delivery guy took records of all damaged items and told us to report it at the local LBC branch where we sent the package. Thanks goodness, until now they haven't resolve the issue and never had any calls from them. We followed up a countless time here in US and in the Philippines but their excuse is that it is still under investigation. How stupid is that! How can gas leaked from the container takes several months of investigation? The last time I called was earlier this week, and yes they pointed me again to another number to call in which you cannot get hold of anybody. I no longer send packages to LBC and switch to starcargo instead.
