My wife ordered a plate of roasted vegetables, which she liked. We shared a order crab cakes but could not eat due to it felt like something crunchy was in it, which I thought looked like egg shell. Fine dining as we knew it was no more and we gave up hope in finding a halfway decent restaurant. One day, after a year of exploring, we found exactly what we had been longing for; in an instant the flavors, quality and presentation that we once knew, came back to us in a little bistro located in downtown Huntington West Virginia. On our first night, we had the lobster risotto and Chilean Seabass; 500 miles from the ocean and still to this day, some of the best I've ever had. Since then, we try to go back at least once a week for the specials, which are always our go-to, not only are they delicious, they are beautifully presented in a way that makes you stop and stare before taking that first bite. After you've taken the first bite, you realize that the flavors you're experiencing go far beyond how the dish was described on the menu and you're left guessing just exactly whats in this and how is it so good. I could go on and on about how the food at Le Bistro compares to meals that we have had at Michelin Star restaurants across the world but I won't because it's not necessary. The food food stands on its own; hands down, the best restaurant in the Tri-State. I ordered lunch from here to be delivered by door dash. The delivery was fine, the food however was way to expensive for what I got and was not as advertised. I ordered the french dip which, according to the menu, comes with cheese, horseradish aioli, mushrooms and red onion. My half sandwich had nothing on it but the meat and was priced at 9.00. It did come with a small side of broccoli salad which was just ok. I also ordered the bistro salad, it looked good but they didnt send any utensils. I did try it when I got home but it was not dressed at all. It is supposed to have a vinaigrette. Also 9.00 Lastly I ordered a diet pepsi. What a find! We were traveling through Huntington and found this gem of a restaurant. It was truly the best lunch of our trip. Because it was lunchtime, we only ordered soup and salad, but honestly the tomato soup was the best tomato soup my husband and I have ever had. And the blueberry bacon salad was divine. My Gawd, the desserts! Enough of a reason alone to visit this place. The flourless torte was insanely good and the chocolate chip bourbon bread pudding was absolutely incredible Service was excellent The asparagus side was very good. They slightly singed each piece and the smoky flavor was different and very good. My son had the salmon and my wife had the lemon basil shrimp pasta and both were impressed. We had our anniversary dinner at Le Bistro (again), and it was as amazing as it always is! I had the striped sea bass (the special), and the hubs had then Cajun pasta with shrimp. Both were amazing! We had the French chocolate cake for dessert- it's the best chocolate cake I've ever had! (I think it's a flourless chocolate cake- it's super dense and moist and almost tastes like a truffle). I'm really happy that they've kept Le Bistro as a 'perfect date night' spot while their tapas restaurant downstairs has some similar food but a totally different atmosphere (perfect for groups!). There was no communication that there would be delays with our meal, and it was only after asking after almost two hours that it was even acknowledged there were delays in the kitchen. Had Easter Brunch with a group of 6. I ordered the Carrot Cake pancakes described by waitress with Cream Cheese filling. I was served 2 dry dense carrot pancakes without any sign of cream cheese filling and just a hint of maple syrup. When I asked about the cream cheese filling, the waitress said that it melted. She offered to bring me more but never brought it. Another waitress offered me a drink refill, I asked her for cream cheese and syrup, as my pancakes got colder. We called and requested a reservation for 6pm, just in case it was crowded- I believe it is a good thing that we did, because the restaurant became busy around the time we received our appetizer. Our food was excellent! I had the steak frites which was prepared perfectly and delicious. My fiancé had the scallops dish which he really enjoyed. The fried green tomato appetizer was wonderful. Our server was pleasant and hands off- exactly what I like at a nice restaurant. My fiancé and I were able to enjoy each other's company. Our only regret was that we were too full for dessert. Working lunch with one of my greatest customers. Dropped in around 1pm. Decor is nice and noise level is low and great to allow the discussion. I asked for a soda water with lime to start. Tasted sweet like sprite but the server insisted in was club soda. I'm guessing she hit the wrong button. She did ask if I wanted anything else but I would have appreciated her tracking down the issue. My guess is she hit that "S" on the fountain. I went with the French Dip. It was excellent. Took my wife and my son to this fantastic find 2 weeks ago. Our server was fantastic and made some excellent recommendations. We had the Shrimp and grits, Brussle sprouts with Bacon OMG!!, and split the Halibut with forbidden rice and and shrimp. These creations were something that you wouldn't expect to have in a restaurant in Huntington, more like an upscale restaurant in NYC or some other major city. It is obvious to me that the chef is extremely talented and creative. The overall atmosphere of the restaurant is cozy however not cramped at all. Le Bistro is a nice little restaurant across from Pullman square. Every few months or so we will travel the 2hr trip to Huntington for dinner and this is usually our go to. Tonight the place was pretty empty, yet service was pretty slow. We had a couple of glitches with our order (out of this, putting bacon on that and we don't eat pork) so if I didn't know them better I probably would've given 3 instead of 4 stars; however, we do know them and know what they're capable of so they get the 4. So tonight we started with the appetizer scallops (minus the bacon) and they were lovely, perfectly seasoned and tasted wonderful. The bread is always really good too with herb butter that's amazing. Next, I had the French onion soup- and this is the real winner here. Absolutely the best French onion soup anywhere! I mean, WoW it's so good! This is worth coming back for. For entrees I had the chicken entree which was mediocre. Decent flavor but no standout here- and yes I did alter it by holding the bacon so part of that's on me. My husband had the crab stuffed salmon and he liked it. We were stuffed so we skipped dessert tonight but they usually do have some standout cakes. Give them a try, def worth it. read more

We decided to have Brunch here on a Saturday I ordered the crab cake benne and my boyfriend ordered the tot poutine. I would have probably given it a 3 and 1/2 star but the crab cakes were full of crab. However, I am a benne snob and the eggs didn't run which is such a bummer. It come on potato cakes which tend to be dry already so having more sauce is key. The hollandaise was really good and homemade not from a package Thank God but they just lightly covered the eggs?! The tot poutine was really good the bacon was smokey so it flavored the dish nicely the eggs were cooked perfect and the tots were crispy. This is one of our favorite places in the tri state area to eat! The staff is always accommodating and the service is top notch. They are always accommodating for reservations (even when it is big parties). The staff goes above an beyond to make sure your experience is excellent. Having said that, the food is incredible. The scallops on pork belly is our favorite on the menu. You cannot go wrong with any of their other dishes as well. If you'd like to grab a drink somewhere close, there is a bar downstairs at cellar door which is fun too! Their brunch is awesome as well with a Bloody Mary and mimosa bar! Good service, disappointing food. Stopped in here today for a quick bite and because I saw the place was loved by "foodies." A kind waiter quickly took my order and returned with a turkey club. I was looking forward to the sourdough bread but it was painfully dry. Every bite got bigger as I chewed. I think this place has great potential and probably has some great dishes but serving bread that dry is sad.
