I had a dinner of steamed fish with risotto and vegetables at this promising place today. The food was good. The service had too many misses. These collectively ruined the dinner experience. Hence the two stars. Service issues: 1. The host forgot my wine refill order. A small error followed by later ones. 2. I ordered a dish to take out after I had finished my dinner; the delivered dish was incorrect 3. I paid the co-host while waiting for the corrected order. For my sister's first visit to Paris we figured we needed a night of fine dining in a French restaurant. This one can highly recommended on Yelp so I felt comfortable making a reservation and making our way from Opera to Montparnasse. This was a quick 7 minute walk from the Notre Dame des Champs metro. Be warned that they start taking reservations at 7 pm and don't show up like we did at 6 pm. The servers were in the middle of readying the restaurant and were not aware of our 6 pm reservation which had been approved by the owner via email but hadn't been communicated to the rest of the staff who begin work at 7 pm but use the 6-7 pm hour to organize and prep for the evening. No worries though we went round the block for a stroll and returned at 630 to an amazing dinner from our super attentive wait staff. One of my friends and I had the beef steak with a chimichurri sauce and fries. It was a slightly different take on the normal steak frites and the flavors were divine. My sister had the white fish which came served with lovely cooked veggie salad of what looked like for be onions and potatoes and carrots. This also came with sweet potatoes and roasted peppers. If I get the chance to return I plan to give this one a try. This restaurant offers a prix fixe dinner menu for €35 which included the main and dessert or starter and main. Coffee is also included but in all honesty we didn't have space after our meal. The staff was extremely attentive and even helped with wine recommendations to accompany our meal. We ended the evening with crème brûle and a chocolate granola dessert both of which were absolutely perfect. I can't recommend this place enough. Even with wine and fine French dining we paid less than €150 which is unheard of. read more

Overall, not our best dining experience in Paris. We showed up without a reservation right when they opened, and they said we could still sit at the bar. The bar seating was very comfortable, and you could really see the whole restaurant, which is sort of fun. The weird part is that several groups walked in after us without a reservation and were seated at tables. There is a nice menu option to either get a dessert or starter with a main for ~35 Euro, or to get all three for ~44 Euros. I ended up picking the tomato cream brûlée for novelty reasons, and I wouldn't recommend. It was sort of just a cold tomato mush in a cream brûlée cup. My boyfriend got the beef tartar, and that was really good. For a main I got the duck, which I took their recommendation for a "medium" cook level, and I would say it might have been a little underdone. I figured it was okay because they had so many good reviews and probably know more about cooking duck than me, but later I did get a bit sick. Hard to really pinpoint the duck, but it seems a likely culprit. The potatoes the duck came with were quite good though. This was also the only sit down restaurant where we didn't get served bread with the meal. I do think this was an off night for the restaurant. It seemed one of the two servers may have been new, and maybe one of the two chefs showed up about 20 min after the restaurant opened. In general this may be a better experience, just unfortunately it wasn't for us. read more

What a very good find in the city of Paris, we found this place close to our hotel and were excited by the great reviews, the staff was friendly. The food is terrific. But when it was time for dessert we saw the other server take our desserts to the wrong table! It wouldn't have been an issue, but 20 minutes later we were still waiting for our desserts, while the main chef did a video interview in front of his kitchen. How do you ignore your guests while you talk about how great your restaurant is? If you have a couple hours for dinner and don't care when the food comes, it's worth a stop as the food is reasonably priced for Paris. No apologies is the French way apparently, we skipped the dessert, paid for what we had with tip and left. read more

Both were very tasty. For entree we had the steak and frites, and steamed fish. Steak was definitely the winner at the table but we totally should have ordered the duck. This was one of the tastiest meals we had during a week in Paris. Delicious lunch after walking around Montparnasse all morning. Classic French bistro food. Service was on point, and the strolling chanteur was completely charming and added to the experience. The evening ended by celebrating my son's 20th birthday. Rude hostess. First night we tried to walk in and she said it was too late (even though others were inside eating and we were 30 minutes prior to kitchen closing). So I made a reservation online for the next night. We arrived to the same rude hostess and she was upset with us that she couldn't find the reservation we made (that I had an email confirmation for). She sat us near the kitchen door at a table with another family with children (at the same table) and as we were starting to sit down and overlook all else, we noticed movement on the walls, it was covered with flea like bugs. We couldn't get out of there fast enough. I cannot comment on the food since we didn't eat there. Is it possible to give zero stars? this restaurant is insanely popular in paris! by locals and tourists! i highly recommend making a reservation. i came on a whim on sat night (and i shouldn't have) i had time to kill so i decided to wait. all in all i waited for about 45 mins to an hr.... i saw so many people come and go b/c they didn't have a reservation. the waitress was the nicest and she tried her best to squeeze me in during a busy night. after i finally sat down, i did the 2 course dinner starting with duck as appetizer. i forgot the elaborate french name but it was a bit different than what i've tired before. a salad accompanied the dish and it was a nice start! next i ordered the supreme chicken (b/c i missed chicken so much during my trip! it was difficult to find chicken at restaurants for some reason) the chicken was roasted nicely and seasoned in a wine soy sauce kinda deal? it felt familiar to my asian palate but yet it was different. the chicken came with risotto but i didn't care too much for that. the chicken was very nicely done! and it finished it in now time and definitely really full. the bill came out to a fair amount! i think that's why the place has so much traffic! i was full, satisfied and it didn't break my bank! it wasn't the best food i've had on the trip but the restaurant had a very cozy vibe to it that make a foreigner in a strange land feel very comfortable. i do recommend if it's nearby for you! def make a ressie! read more

We got n overview of the restaurant n could see into the kitchen. The mushroom appetizer was excellent as was the vegetable timbale w cheese. I had the steamed fish. Cooked n seasoned perfectly. My wife had the chicken. It was moist n the sauce was excellent. Rich n flavorful. Note that there's n amazing rib steak not on the pre fixe menu that feeds two maybe three or four? We watched the waiter carve n plate it at the bar n it was something to behold. It's rare n if u do t like ur beef rare, just order something else n don't insult the steak gods. Dessert was excellent. Cream brûlée was wonderful n the chocolate mousse is killer! What a gem of a place. Staff was helpful n generous. English speaking too if u need them to. This may have been my first meal upon arrival to Paris. Great place to try as a tourist. I tried the 3 course meal which comes with an appetizer, entree, and dessert. I also picked off some of my friends' food as well, so I pretty much tried the... Duck Confit salmon tartar chocolate mousse this potato appetizer (cannot recall name) creme brulee Beware, they only have french menu so make sure you have google translator by your side. The waitress spoke English, but we all felt bad to have the whole menu translated so we took it upon ourselves it translate it ourselves. Duck Confit was delicious, but a bit on the salty side. Salmon tartar was really good and so was the appetizer. The desserts were really good too, but I wish I had a cup of milk to go along with the chocolate mousse as it was really potent. They accept VISA. Warning, the room is really stuffy. My friends and I walked in with no reservations and were able to get seats with in a few minutes. We came a bit later... maybe 1.5 hours before closing, so it may be busier if you come during the prime dinner time. read more

We can't rave enough about how great this restaurant is, just everything was superb. Last night, we came here for dinner looking for some delicious french food. We didn't have a reservation, but the server seated us right away before the dinner crowd showed up. The service was excellent. We waited a bit for our meals to come out, so the chef made us a delicious salad to start. The server helped us choose our meals based on pictures we showed them from yelp. I ordered a rotisserie chicken with pasta and my husband ordered the rum steak with au gratin potatoes. The food was soooooo amazing we weren't sure if we brought enough money. When our server brought us our check, we couldn't be happier with the price of our meal. At the end of the night, we couldn't stop thinking about how we need to come back to this place. This is my long overdue review of this wonderful restaurant. We were in Paris last spring, and I agree with Mark E.'s review, we were so lucky to be staying near this little gem, and to stumble upon it. This was the best meal we had in Paris, and agreeing again with Mark, so so affordable. First of all, when we sat down, our server saw us consulting our dictionaries to read the menu. She said, "Give me a minute, and I will be back to explain the menu to you." She then proceeded to read us the entire menu, and to answer any questions we had. Her name was Charlane, and she continued to give us outstanding personable attentive service throughout our meal. I hope she is still there to read this review because she was so fantastic. We chose the 2 course option, which was something like 28 euros each. My husband got a cheese and pickled vegetable dish as his 1st course, while I got a plate of sauteed mushrooms with a poached egg. Both dishes were amazing. We loved one of the cheeses so much that Charlane served us another few pieces, along with another one of her favorite cheeses for us to try. My husband got duck for his entrée, the breast and confit, it was incredible. Mine was a whole seabass with the best beurre blanc I've ever tasted, along with a side of a molded potato dish topped with vegetables. We decided to upgrade one of our prix fixe meals to 3 courses, so we could share a dessert. We got the profiteroles with fresh whipped cream and chocolate.............I can't even describe its deliciousness. During our meal, we got to meet the rest of the staff. We had the pleasure of watching the two cooks who prepared every dish of ours to perfection, we met Delphine, another server there, who was so helpful when we were all searching for an American word, and the wonderful owner whose name I'm sorry to say I have forgotten! Our whole meal, which included 2 carafes of Rose, came to just over 100 euros. We were looking for a not too expensive French restaurant and decided to give this a try on a Wednesday evening around 9pm. The place was full but had two spots at the bar, which we took. The menu was only in French, but the staff was very friendly and helped explain what our translation apps would not :) the food was wonderful and atmosphere exactly what I would have imagined. We are honeymooning in Paris and this restaurant is excellent! The owners are very nice and the food is very good. I had the duck breast and it was delicious! Nice and firm on the outside and pink on the inside. My wife had the steak and we shared an apple pie with vanilla ice cream for dessert.
