When I initially went in to blow by blow (what a stupid name btw), they're pricing seemed ridiculous, and they seemed pushy. It was 80.00 for a haircut and 80.00 for a color treatment. I decided to give them a chance any way because the woman making appointments was extremely kind and helpful. Color: I went in wanting something different for summer, but not crazy. The stylist had 0 creativity and 0 patience and pushed me to a color of her choosing -surprise surprise, it was my natural color, exactly. Also, she only dyed the top of my hair, then did something they call a shine treatment, which seemed like plain old conditioner. I told the stylist I expected a full color treatment, and wanted to make sure I'd have the same color root to tip. She said I was wrong and shouldn't question her professionalism. When they dried my hair, I showed her that the tips of my hair were definitely not the same color as my roots. Instead of fixing it, she argued with me for 5 minutes, then insisted that she knew what she was doing and my hair looked good to her. I didn't want to risk having my hair completely ruined by an angry stylist, so I didn't push any further. Haircut: I showed my stylist a picture of exactly what I wanted and told her exactly what I didn't want. . She again said she knew better than me and said that the picture of what I wanted was the style I didn't want. She dried my hair with no product, parted my hair differently than I do for the dry haircut, argues with me for every point from length to style, keeps me.away from the mirror until it's too late to tell her that everything is 100% wrong. Ugh, I want to cry. I've grown my hair out for 2 years only to have someone hack away at it. I can't even hide it in a ponytail. She knows I'm unhappy and sort of tries to appease me, so she gives me curls, which hide my bad haircut, and I walk out with exactly the wrong color and cut and am out 200.00 and 2 hours of my time. Tldr: unprofessional hair stylists don't listen and bully you into taking whatever they feel like giving you.

I've seen various stylists since I started going and have yet to have a bad experience. So far, everyone I've come in contact with who works there is kind, courteous, passionate about what they do, and truly cares about the clients and delivering what they want or need and at a VERY reasonable price to boot!

They tried charging me an additional $15 for an extended blowdry, but I was finished in under an hour. The stylist did end up removing this charge. I had to pin my hair back to blend my extensions and re-curl every piece of hair. I then felt a crunchy section of hair at the nape of my neck and I realized this was because my stylist didn't fully rinse my hair....such a terrible service and experience.

In less than five minutes of conversation, it's easy to understand why. Rodney is comfortable speaking to just about anyone. I have watched him with his clients over the years. What impresses me is that it seems he styles males as much as females. Of every age. I don't see many male stylists who are able to do that. This goes for the Chicago salons I have visited over the years. Rodney may or may not agree, but he has always reminded me of James Dean. When I walked into the salon at 17, he had a tight-white t-shirt on, and jeans. Just like the icon himself. Rodney seems to like music and culture from that era as well. In contrast, Rodney has longer blond hair which echos more of the '80s. I've always found that amusing. Rodney is the best. I might find a decent stylist, but my hair ends up dried out, and it breaks off, leaving my hair looking frizzy. All from the color that they use. When Rodney colors my hair, it feels the same as it did when I started my day. There's probably a simple answer, but what it translates to is a world of difference! The Optometrist I work with has learned a little bit about Rodney after each of my visits. She notices the color right away and knows I went to see him. It's to the point where curiosity has gotten the better of her because of how I describe him as a person. She already knows he has talent from looking at my hair. However, it's because of the nice things I've had to share about the kind of person he is, which made her say, "I have to go meet Rodney." I really hope she does.

The business is open to the public, but when u walk in, no one to great you, stylist are late and the one I did see, only acknowledged the one customer of 3 waiting. Employees could care less about the waiting room of paying customers, so I left. I was never spoke to, greeted or acknowledged. Just that alone, I wouldn't give them my business or time.
