I'm really surprised at the bad review. Yes this is a tourist restaurant and yes restaurants in Paris are expensive. It's just a given. However the service was great. Our waiter was super nice and attentive and helped me with a selection that would work since I have a gluten allergy. I ended up with a salad for breakfast (hey it was gluten free and sounded really good). It was delicious. My husband said his omelette was the best he had ever had. Great coffee. While we're not any of that, we ended up here because there were several seats outside available and we were hungry after walking several miles. Cute little cafe located at a busy intersection right across the street from the Louvre. Service was decent. Prices were typical. I didn't try the food here so I can't speak for that but my mochacinno was ok. This place is definitely a great spot for people watching! read more

Decent spot to watch the Tour de France but service was incredibly poor, food lacking. Our server lied to us twice to the point that the neighboring guests and our table had quite a laugh. Ordered the margarita pizza and it looked like a dominoes cheese pizza. The server claimed "that is actually what a margarita pizza is in France, in Europe." I laughed thinking he was serious and said, sure, where is the basil? Having lived in Italy and traveled around Europe, it was an offensive comment. Then ordered a bottle of rose, pointed to the bottle our neighbors had on their table, he brought back a screw off top rose, completely different rose, darker in color, obviously different label & bottle. We pointed again what we wanted and he claimed they were the same. Worst service in France... from apparently "stupid Americans" that don't know any better. read more

My husband and I had walked down Ru de Rivoli for hours and we were really exhausted. We decided to stop by the first cafe on our way to get something to eat. It wasn't our lucky day I guess.... We stopped by this restaurant and ordered crepes and French onion soup. The crepes was ok but I had better ones at the crepe stands near the Eiffel Tower. The Onion soup...it was horrible... It couldn't get any worse. It is hard to believe that I had my worst French Onion soup in Paris. The cheese was chewy like plastic and the broth didn't have any flavor at all. It tasted like dirty water from the dirty dishes in the kitchen. After the second spoon, we left the whole thing. I didn't have internet connection to check the rating of the place on yelp before we went in. When we got back to the hotel, I checked yelp and I felt sorry for ourselves to have come across this place when we were so desperate and tired. That was a lesson to plan our day better and go only to cafés that have customer reviews. read more

Had a vegetable Tartine that was topped with canned asparagus. The bread was thin, and the cheese was gummy. Also had a cheese platter which was decent and a Vegetable Sandwich which was terrible. Definite tourist trap. If the Louvre and Gardens Tuilières were not nearby, this place would be out of business in a month. read more

Terrible customer service. My wife and I went in here to grab a couple of drinks. The waiter was very rude the entire time. He was very short and seemed annoyed every time we wanted to order something. Upon paying, we asked to pay 3 times until my wife finally went up to the counter to pay. By this time, I was ready to go so I went up to my wife as she was paying (via credit card) and the waiter gave me a dirty look and said "your wife said 'no' for tip." I looked at him and shook my head in disbelief thinking "did he really just say that, especially after that horrible service?" It was very uncomfortable - we paid and quickly got out of there! Had a table of 5, it's is pretty small cramped seating but it seems like that here in Paris. I got the truffle pasta and that was absolutely delicious! I had my kids with me so don't bring a huge stroller or a stroller at all as you won't have room. The service was super fast had drinks and our food within 10 minutes or less of ordering. We had a great dinner here on 11/20/2017. My daughter tried escargot for the very first time and the waiter went out of his way to make it special for her. We each ordered something very different and all the plates were amazing. My wife loved the beef bourguignon, the pizza my daughter ordered was great and huge for the price, and the ribeye I had was good. The waiter was amazing!!! This is the epitome of a tourist zone restaurant. It's immediately across the street from one of the main attractions of Paris. The waiter had a 1:1 ratio of table checks to sidewalk/pedestrian duty; luring unsuspecting tourists inside for a bite or drink. The place honestly isn't bad... I had Croque Madame which was quite tasty... but at nearly €20 definitely WAY OVERPRICED. Add a 50cl Coke for €9.... yes, you read that correctly €9 for a coke... and it was quite the bill. It's a busy, bustling cafe right across from the Carrousel at Tuileries Gardens and the staff can navigate the space at lunchtime like Grand Prix drivers. The food and drink selection is great. Literally the worst and only terrible experience I've had dining in Paris. My sister came to visit and we stopped to eat. The waiter immediately made us uncomfortable by talking to us in (wrong) Spanish while we were speaking English and shaking his head when we didn't understand what he was saying (because it wasn't Spanish). Thankfully, he seemed to be sucked into an argument with another waiter/possibly his boss. Everything was okay until the end of the meal when the waiter brought us the check and asked for a tip right there to our faces. Fast, very friendly. Had an omelette with cheese and ham. The breakfast special came with a croissant roll, small glass of orange juice and a coffee of your choice. The food was delicious. They didn't have any milk shakes, tried a apricot nocturne drink. Nope don't carry that either. We popped in for a light breakfast and coffee early one morning before heading out with a tour group. It is touristy, obviously; as it is across the street from the tour group office. I'm not a world traveler and I'm not a foodie. My wife and I were looking for a convenient place for dinner our first night in Paris and happened on Le Carrousel. Yes, they do try to pull you in as you walk by but that's part of their job! It's not offensive. We found the waiters to be friendly, welcoming and very efficient. We actually ate there several nights and ordered items off the menu as well as the daily board. Everything we tried was delicious. (We tried a couple of other places in the area and the food was not nearly as good.) Drinks were brought promptly and once the food was served there was absolutely no rush. We could sit and relax. Should we get back to Paris, we will definitely return to Le Carrousel. read more
