I wanted to love the salad because it was large and well-dressed, BUT the lettuce was gritty and could've used a more thorough rinse. I ended up not eating much of it because the texture wasn't good. One of my friends got the Rose Salad Pie which she really enjoyed (basically a pizza with Rose Salad on top) and my other friend got the gazpacho which really liked. Finally got to try The Rose and it didn't disappoint! Excellent drink and food selection. Loved most everything we got. The Cabernet was a slam dunk. Empanadas, bomb. My filet mignon, delicious. Bread basket served with creamy butter, perfect. My friend also loved her oysters and split pea soup. The olive oil cake was great in flavor as well, only note would be that it was a little dry. Charming, enough light to see without squinting, an energetic volume but you can hear your conversation without straining and don't feel need to shout. All our selections were staff recommendations: bottle of sauv blanc (10/10 crisp and refreshing), Cadillac cheese board (11/10 would order every time - 2 meats, 3 cheeses, sour dough, veggies, mustard, jam, nuts, grapes, berries), Pinot Noir (10/10 light, fruity, not sweet). Strongly recommend making one, since this place is always popping! Breakfast menu has a lot of options to pick from. I had the chicken chilaquiles w/oaxacan mole and my friend had the carnitas hash. Both items were savory and well-seasoned. Picking a sweet item was hard - they have so many options that sound exquisite. The server mentioned the sourdough pancakes and the bakery goods (all made with sourdough starter) but we decided to go with the pancakes. Pancakes look simple, yet they are so good and fluffly; I recommend getting them with the cardamom whipped cream. I had great service from Jasmine (hope I spelt that right) and also others working that morning that I didn't catch names. Thanks again!!! It was my first time to come here and normally I don't have brunch often outside at restaurants. I really enjoyed the Carnitas Hash and did not regret my choice. Taste was just right and egg was cooked perfect to my liking. I found a hair in it halfway through eating it. Service was good, very sweet waitress. We ordered an appetizer- it came with a little bit of everything from the app menu. It was $52.00. To be honest it was a little underwhelming. We did order baked clams, to it had bits of chorizo in it. It was a smidge too salty but it was still tasty. For dessert we had a brownie al a mode. Not pictured. They have rolls of sourdough on the menu, but when we ordered them for our table they came room temp and dry. We requested butter, which they then charged us $1 for. We also asked for 6, they only had 5 left, but charged us more than 5/6 of the price listed. Just overall odd things to me to gouge people on at a nice restaurant, and it definitely dampened the experience. The Rose has fried chicken dinner on certain Sundays starting at 4pm. The space is shared with Secret Sister bakery. Sadly the bakery closes at 2pm so no delicious sourdough bread for me this visit. It was a cold wintery day and I started my meal with some hot tea. They have some interesting flavors here and we chose the blood orange pu'er. I don't normally get ginger tea but I did like the mix of orange and ginger flavors. It looks like you get half a chicken and it's a huge dinner as I left with leftovers. Chicken was battered with a thin crunchy batter which I loved. Chicken was tender and moist. Really good chicken here. The quality of the chicken is among the best I've had. I do prefer the flavor of the batter of Cracker Barrel's fried chicken though. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very busy so he was not very attentive but he was nice in between mixing drinks. But it didn't work as an appetizer for us. However this was good. Very Good. Tasty, and a very generous portion. 5. Paloma (Custom Cocktail) Not Good. This Paloma tasted like a glass of bourbon. It really was made as the opposite of a Paloma. 6. Chocolate Pot the Crème. Beautiful presentation, tasty, if you like extra rich dark chocolate this is for you. We decided to stick with drinks and appetizers as most things we tried were a little bit or far off flavor wise.
