This spot really is a hidden gem with the best staff. It was a nice day when we went so we sat outside and enjoyed a lambrusca which honestly may be my new go to wine on a nice day. Strongly recommend making one, since this place is always popping! Breakfast menu has a lot of options to pick from. I had the chicken chilaquiles w/oaxacan mole and my friend had the carnitas hash. Both items were savory and well-seasoned. Picking a sweet item was hard - they have so many options that sound exquisite. The server mentioned the sourdough pancakes and the bakery goods (all made with sourdough starter) but we decided to go with the pancakes. Pancakes look simple, yet they are so good and fluffly; I recommend getting them with the cardamom whipped cream. Influenced by social media and initially came here for the Rose salad but ended up with the Carnitas Hash I sat at the bar last Sunday as I did not come with reservations. I had great service from Jasmine (hope I spelt that right) and also others working that morning that I didn't catch names. Thanks again!!! It was my first time to come here and normally I don't have brunch often outside at restaurants. I really enjoyed the Carnitas Hash and did not regret my choice. Taste was just right and egg was cooked perfect to my liking. I found a hair in it halfway through eating it. After noticing, I let the other server know and he brought it back to the kitchen and I received a new one. Chose this place after a little walk around South Park. It was a little chilly but we sat outside with the heaters near. The table was smaller/chairs were a little uncomfortable. Service was good, very sweet waitress. We ordered an appetizer- it came with a little bit of everything from the app menu. It was $52.00. To be honest it was a little underwhelming. We did order baked clams, to it had bits of chorizo in it. It was a smidge too salty but it was still tasty. For dessert we had a brownie al a mode. Not pictured. The Rose has fried chicken dinner on certain Sundays starting at 4pm. The space is shared with Secret Sister bakery. Sadly the bakery closes at 2pm so no delicious sourdough bread for me this visit. It was a cold wintery day and I started my meal with some hot tea. They have some interesting flavors here and we chose the blood orange pu'er. I don't normally get ginger tea but I did like the mix of orange and ginger flavors. It looks like you get half a chicken and it's a huge dinner as I left with leftovers. Chicken was battered with a thin crunchy batter which I loved. Chicken was tender and moist. Really good chicken here. The quality of the chicken is among the best I've had. I do prefer the flavor of the batter of Cracker Barrel's fried chicken though. We sat at the bar and the bartender was very busy so he was not very attentive but he was nice in between mixing drinks. It really was made as the opposite of a Paloma. 6. Chocolate Pot the Crème. Beautiful presentation, tasty, if you like extra rich dark chocolate this is for you. Always on the lookout for tasty spots around South Park. We've been meaning to try the Rose for a while now and went for brunch/lunch. The burger was tasty. The bun was particularly delicious and the gruyere was an excellent choice. Only critique is that the size was on the smaller end for similar quality and price burgers we've had in San Diego, and it only comes with a few homemade pickles (which are also very good) instead of fries or another side. I would definitely order something with it if you want to make it a full meal. The breakfast sandwich was solid as well with the highlight being the delicious gougere cheesy bun.
