Great local donut store in a slightly rougher part of town. Think their maple bars are the best when compared to Pao's and Connie's donuts (both excellent donut stores as well though) as the dough is just more to my preference. It's much softer and chewier/doughier compared to the other two. If you're looking for a slightly drier, less chewy experience then I would recommend either Connie's or Pao's. Went here based on the high review count and ordered a glazed donut and a chocolate bar donut. Both were ridiculously soft, because they were undercooked and doughy. And they were cooked in the same oil as the hotdog donuts, because they tasted like fried hotdogs. I understand business owners want to conserve resources, but using the same oil for meat and non-meat products affects the taste as well as not being okay for those who are vegetarian/vegan. The owners of Le Donut are the best kind of local, small business folks. Quality products, great selection, friendly. They actively support Bryant Montessori, a public school a couple blocks away, and often donate to local causes. They don't do it with a dead sense of obligation either...they are enthusiastic to help. The fact that their donuts are bomb - sugar bomb - is just the icing on the....cruller. It is kind of a new phenomenon for me but it seems like donut shops ran by Asian families make some of the most astounding donuts ever! Forget the chain stores. The best ones are the mom and pop stores. Le Donut is good but not as good as some of the small donut businesses. I don't specifically have any complaints about them but the flow of the snack in texture and taste is not quite enough for me to say "wow". I have had several of their donut varieties like the chocolate frosted, Apple turnovers and what not. Le Donut makes decent, quality pastries but if you start comparing their pastries to other donut shops in the area you may reach the same consensus as I had. read more

I'll start off simple - Le Donut has the highest finesse maple bars around, the ones from HoD and Pao are good, but these ones have the perfect size, texture, and amount of maple topping that is crisp to the bite and soft as your teeth sink in and melt when your tongue glides on it. If that isn't perfection, I don't know what is. I've frequented quite a few other donut shops around the 253 area, endless times especially on Seahawks game days, I call around and places are out of glazed donuts and maple bars, but have 100 of a useless flavor that's still there minutes before they close...oh the anger. We've slowly been working through local doughnut places (Mom's refrain: "Well, it's no Top Pot." I can't weigh in because in the two years I've been here she has yet to take me to Top Pot...) and Le Donut is the best I've had so far. My goodness-- I wish this place was closer to Seattle and I wish I had discovered it sooner. The donuts are truly delicious- from the maple bar topped with bacon to the plain glazed donut. It's the perfect balance of fluffy and chewy. The donuts really do melt in your mouth. Seriously, this place puts Top Pot to shame. Plus, the pricing is WAY better. The man behind the counter every time I've been here is very friendly and nice to talk to. The prices are reasonable and the 'normal' donuts are pretty good, the apple fritters however are the best I've had at a place that doesn't charge 8-15$ a donut . The place has a convenient selection of drinks and caffeinated beverages as well as some pretty tasty ( though limited selection of ) non donut breakfast options. This is a small business, run by a local couple, in a little unassuming yellow building across the street from the Safeway in Hilltop and they are worth the trip. Small parking lot adjacent to the building makes things really convenient. Disregard the phoned-in displays of non-donut related items and focus on what matters in life. The donuts. Was in the area and stopped by mid morning for a classic maple bar and Apple juice. Totaling to $3 I handed her my card and she said it was a $5 minimum to use debit. She asked if I wanted to buy more donuts I politely told her no and began to set my juice back. Remembering I had a loose dollar bill I settled for just a donut. The donut was extremely soft which is a good sign however when I bit into it it was quite doughy meaning it wasn't cooked all the way. Decent donuts for a cheap price. Best donuts I've had yet!! I don't usually get cake donuts because I find them dry, but I got one with icing and sprinkles for my husband who forced me to take a bite and it was so good! Really moist and the icing flavors are VERY good. The sweet Asian man who is there in the mornings (every time I've been) makes the donuts himself every day. Must say it with a faux-French accent. My current favorite is the maple bar with bacon. The owner will apologetically tell you that it costs 3 bucks or something, because most of their donuts are so cheap!
