Store front is under construction at the moment. Chocolate chip, chocolate chip walnut, oatmeal raisin and salted caramel cookies and an oat milk latte. C$34.84 The cookies look a tad burnt on a few cookies. They smell amazing. Seating for cookie, sandwich, salad and coffee enjoyment. The smell inside is worth a visit. The oatmeal cookie was dry, so was the chocolate walnut, which I believe is one of the factories here. Perhaps it was a two off, as I was wishing I had only bought one of these. The chocolate cookie is the better of all of the cookies, just a tad over baked is all. The salted caramel is not special. Suffice to say, the chocolate cookie is worth a try, but take a pass on the rest of them, wasn't worth it for us.
Le Gourmaud in Toronto is a great cafe, and seems like a popular spot for Torontonians. We only spent 24 hours in Toronto, and this is one of the great stops that we made. I love Canadian pastries, because they are not as sweet as the ones in the US, and I'm not really a person who is big on sweets and desserts. My family and I stumbled upon this gem after eating at a spot on Queen Street, Walking by, we saw the sign outside saying "world-famous cookies," wnd decided to go in to try some of them. We ordered oatmeal raisin, white chocolate macadamia, and chocolate chip cookies, as well as an orange muffin. At first, I was not really excited about ordering anything, but since we were only visiting Canada for a couple of hours, I gave in, and I'm so glad I did! The chocolate chip cookie was delicious, it had crispy edges with a gooey center that wasn't overly soft. My parents loved the oatmeal raisin cookies, and my uncle and aunt, who initially passed on ordering, couldn't resist running back to get their own pastries once he tasted the muffin. In fact, he and my aunt stocked up on cookies and muffins before we left for New York. Le Gourmaud is a quiet and nice cafe with incredible pastries. I did not have the chance to try their sandwiches this time, but it's definitely on my list for my next visit to Toronto. If you're in the area and looking for top-tier baked goods in a welcoming atmosphere, this place is a must!
I hate giving low reviews but this place is so awful. We also visited twice (not by my choice), so unfortunately, I know it is not a fluke. First, you have to traverse through a bunch of construction to find it (not their fault but does not help with the overall experience). All the tables were dirty from previous patrons, and we didn't see anyone wiping them down the two times we were there. You bus your own tables and the bussing station is in a similarly sorry state. They're also not that busy so not sure why the service is so awful. The blonde cashier that we encountered twice was just chatting with the other staff rather than taking our order. When she finally paid attention to us, she was unnecessarily cold like we were bothering her. Again, this happened twice. The first time we went, we only ordered a cookie and a cappuccino. The coffee was mid and the cookie took so long the another staff member noticed and apologized, which was nice of her. The second time we went, the sandwiches behind the glass looked sad, so I got the kathu roti, which was drowning in sauce and became very unpleasant to eat midway through. My partner got the egg bacon croissant - the eggs were rubber, croissant was also mid, and the whole thing was too salty. They also called the wrong order number (we were the only ones waiting for food). The only good thing about this place is the cookies (which bumped this up to two stars) but not worth the troubles.
I come here occasionally for coffee or for their famous walnut chocolate chip cookies. The cookies definitely are delicious and high quality, but I wouldn't say they're the best in the city. They actually taste better the next day in my opinion. Service here is always friendly and fast even on the weekends when it can get busy. There's a good amount of seating for small groups inside as well as a few tables outside. The building is undergoing renovation, but it's still open
To sum things up, the food here was great, but my experience dining in left a lot to be desired. The way the restaurant is run is a bit disorganized, which is particularly noticeable when it is busy. We waited for around 20 minutes to get our food, and were not able to hear our order being called when it was ready. There was also limited seating available, especially since this is both a cafe and brunch spot. I tried the Kothu Roti and Creme Brulee French Toast, both of which were delicious. I also tried their much hyped chocolate chip cookie, which was amazing. Since it is worth trying, I'd highly recommend just getting their food to go.
I am so happy that Le Gourmand on Spadina Ave. is still here after all these years! It used to be my second office for over 10 years where I did sketches for my illustration business and had many meetings here since it opened in 2002. I loved getting their delicious Balzac's Farmers Blend with just a little honey early in the mornings and loved all their freshly baked treats! Today I enjoyed their famous giant chocolate chip cookie still hot from the oven and so crispy and chewy at same time. But it wasn't as giant as I remembered so I hope it was an off day for the baker. Also had their chocolate bomb that unfortunately didn't come warmed up as they usually are so it wasn't great. But the European atmosphere and warm ambiance hasn't changed one bit. It always feels like I've stepped into Paris when I walked in. My visit brought back many happy memories. I do miss the founder of Le Gourmand Milton Nunes who was always so friendly to me and everyone who came in the café. He sadly passed away in March 2019 at age of 47. Rest In Peace Milton, please know that your delicious legacy is alive and well!
Love, love this spot. Their coffee is great and your cannot beat their baked goods. Located just south of Queen on Spadina, it's just off the streetcar spot. It's a local fave. Easily noted by the stream of customers - many just taking out. Beyond the coffee and baked goods. You can also enjoy some other options like breakfast sandwiches or eggs Benedict in the morning and a variety of luncheon items (soups, salads, sandwiches and light lunch fare). I've been going here for a while, and I've never had a bad meal or snack here. Fyi their chocolate chip cookies are the best! Today we had coffee, croissants and a lemon bichon. All great. And I couldn't resist. Some pastries were brought home. Don't look any further for a great French bakery.
A small coffee shop near chinatown, with a fair amount of seating and seems to be a place where people go to work as well. I got the white chocolate matcha which was part of their spring menu - 4.5/5 loved it! I also got the apple tart which I would rate 3/5 - tasted ok but wish it was warmed up which would've made it taste better since it was kind of hard cold but I didn't realize until I had left. They had a few other items on their spring menu that I think is limited time, would come back again if I'm passing by
This place is awesome. I was staying nearby and after my flight home got delayed, I wanted to squeeze in some work and breakfast before hitting the road. I found this spot on Yelp and arrived around 8:30-9am. It was right off Spadina and was easy to spot... next door to a Starbucks. Why would anyone choose the big box coffee shop over the little guy? I will never understand. The space is big with a giant area filled with seats and tables for dining and cranking out some work. There is a long L shaped counter with pastries behind it as well as the register/pick up area, and a small kitchen. There was a bit of a line when I got there but it moves pretty fast. I ordered an egg and cheese croissant and their turmeric latte. The service was fast af. I went to set up my laptop and hadn't even noticed them call my name because it was so quick. My sandwich was great and I ate every single bite. My latte was not very sweet at all and the turmeric was very forward. I also drank that down to the very last drop. I wouldn't hesitate to come here again!
It easy very windy today when we past by we saw this SINGLE fried donut (Berliner) with custard like filling thru the window and I thought "wow that's beautiful and it's only one left so I gotta try it", went in and saw the trophy for best choco chip cookie award, why make a choice if I can get both?;) Berliner is actually not as crispy as I expected it to be but it is very delicious but THE CHOCOLATE COOKIE!!!!!!!!!! That is a 6 star cookie for sure. After one bite and I was just in tears! Why haven't my foodie friends told me about this gem? I'm never going to other places to eat choco chop cookie again this will be my go to! It is huge, and the chocolate are so gooey but the dough is so crunchy, perfect flavor and texture! 12/10

Was curious to see how Le Gourmand would live up to New York city's Levain cookies. Got two of their cookies - the chocolate chip, which is supposedly their specialty, and the chocolate chip walnut, which is what Levain does. The chocolate chip walnut was actually close, but wasn't as tall, and was a bit over-baked - especially on one side of the cookie which I tossed - but the rest was still pretty good. However, the chocolate chip cookie was a big disappointment! - flat, greasy and severely over-baked to a dark crisp - you could say burnt. Definitely not worth the calories, and had to toss most of it. Please don't bother with this. Other than these sweet treats, I also wanted something savory for breakfast, so I got myself the veggie omelette. It did not come with toast as described, but with a salad instead - and the salad dressing was nasty! - like stale oil and chemicals (reminded me of acetone - yuck!) Just FYI, the veggies are as a filling in the omelette, not incorporated with the egg. They're placed inside along with a chevre-like cheese. The eggs were cooked alright, but the veggies inside were not good. I'd recommend just skipping this altogether. No complaints about the coffee here though - it was pretty good. TL;DR - Get the chocolate chip walnut cookie, hope it's not overdone. And also grab yourself some coffee. read more

My advice, GET THEIR CHOCOLATE CHIP COOKIE! It was the most fresh- gooey, delicious chocolate chip cookie I have ever consumed in all of my existence. Everyone on earth MUST try their chocolate chip cookie. A side of regular drip coffee (large cup for only 1.70) was the cherry on top of the whole experience. Simply loved everything about this place including its relaxing and artsy decor. read more

Great atmosphere, great food/snacks and very affordable prices for lattes and speciality drinks. If you're looking for spacious high ceilings and cozy open spaces, this spot will be a fav. I usually pay around $6-7 for a good latte, but this place does great lattes for $3. A great cafe to add to your list. read more

Second visits already. First time just got a chocolate chip cookie and a mocha to go, and it was an amazing experience last weekend. So I can't stop thinking about the cookies afterwards and decided to come back to visit again by this morning. This time I got two types of salad and their daily salad was just as awesome as other stuffthe apple pie looks soooo yummy but I can't eat more anymore lol will come back for that next time then!) And got two types of cookies as well. Of course still included chocolate chips! and got a cappuccino this time! I like it! And I was kinda disappointed about they don't serve french toast nor pancake during weekdays Too bad! But I'll be more aware of that next time and come back here for that on WEEKENDS!!! XDD Love this place so far!! Oh but I can't find the plug in place for my computer or phone though. Not a super good place for study though!(and the music is a bit loud as well!! read more

Delicious coffee, handmade soups, salads, and sandwiches, and tempting pastries. This place has everything you need for a quick snack on the go or cozy bite to stay. You may find yourself tempted to source the same goods at the Starbucks chain next door - and the staff there are usually lovely, so you wouldn't be making a big mistake - but I'm a local spot gal at heart, and that's a big part of why this place has mine. I love seeing all the staff here making soup and quiche, stacking freshly made sandwiches in the display case, and filling bowls with various salads to order. This space is big and airy but also cozy and vaguely Parisian inside. You can usually find your standard mix of laptop workers, meeting takers, and friends meeting for a coffee and catch-up. So go ahead, check it out. I was pleasantly surprised by Le Gourmand and I bet you will be too. read more
I have lived in Toronto for 8 years. The butter croissant here is the best I have ever had in Toronto. The latte here used a high fat milk, which is the type I like. Also the quality of coffee bean is great - higher than average. The only bad thing is that I don't live in this neighborhood:( read more

These cookies really are some of the best in Toronto, but the prices have skyrocketed as of late. I no longer choose Le Gourmand as my go to cookie spot due to the increase in prices. A few months back I paid $3.00 per cookie now cookies are priced at $3.75+. read more

Friendly counter service. Happy to find they had a washroom (hand dryer broken). The Americano was excellent, as good as I recall having. Most importantly; that cookie; chocolate, almond something.. It's fresh, chocolate melting, AMAZING. I ate it so fast I'm little ashamed, glutton. I'd eat that too much if I lived closer. read more

So I've gone here for brunch and don't even remember what I ordered but I'm sure it was great but THAT COOKIE!!!! I literally go just for the cookie. It's the best thing in the world. Probably a billion calories but worth every bite!! It's incredible and ooey and gooey and perfect and if you haven't tried it you need to go like right now. Pro tip- Portland variety sells the same one!! No excuses!! Try it. read more

OMG!! Discovered this place on a whim. Not sure how I even decided on what to eat everything looked so good. Had a vanilla latte and Lemon Ricotta pancakes. They were so good. From presentation to taste. Staff was super friendly too read more
Has definitely one of the best chocolate chip cookies I've ever had! Super gooey, melty chocolate chunks, the cookie it self has a nice bit of crunch to it, but not overly hard. It's a great mixture of crunchy and soft and melty. My personal favourite tho, is the ricotta pancake. The pancakes are probably some of my favourite since they aren't overly dense, and you don't feel like you're going to die by the end of the meal. These pancakes are soft and light-ish (you'll be definitely full but not on a death bed). The mixture of the syrup with the ricotta and blueberries goes to perfectly together. Just the right amount of sweetness. The benny's are also quiet amazing and delicious! The hollandaise sauce... just perfect~ Interior - gets super stuffy and hot. So if you decide to eat there, probably best to wear some light clothes or sit by the door... or both. It's almost overwhelmingly hot. But the food is definitely worth it. read more
This place honestly has the best chocolate chip cookies in the city - crispy exterior with a chewy, moist interior. Plus it's packed with lots chocolate chips! I've had their chocolate chip walnut one too but still 100% prefer the classic chocolate chip. read more

Came here for brunch on a Saturday. Definitely recommend showing up earlier if you're with a group to grab a table. The brunch can also take a few minutes to be finished as well, so arrive ready to wait (but I promise it's worth it!) The whole place is close to a cafeteria style where you order at the counter and go get your food when it's ready to take to your table. They had an amazing array of baked goods and tons of fresh squeezed orange juice. (I didn't grab any but I'm going back because the cookies looked mouth watering.) Their brunch menu had things like lemon ricotta pancakes and Norwegian eggs benny on it (I will come back to try the pancakes for sure.) I had the breakfast burrito, which was vegetarian to my surprise! It had scrambled eggs, refried beans, guacamole and sour cream. It was super delicious and I would go back to eat 20 if I could. A great spot for a morning snack! We normally order: the smoked salmon and cream cheese on a toasted bagel, an almond croissant, a chocolate chip cookie, a coffee, and a tea. Our total is normally around $17.00, approximately. This spot is charming, the cookies are delicious, the pastries are fresh and flaky, and they serve good coffee! It's a great cafe to visit for beginning your morning - sipping your coffee and reading the newspaper, or chatting with friends and family. It's an environment that's open to all types of parties, with consistently delicious pastries. Service isn't the friendliest, but the food and atmosphere make up for it. Overall, one of our favourites! read more
Before arriving to Toronto, I just wanted a place with really good breakfast oatmeal and it sure was my best one here. My friend recommended the croissant breakfast which I happily accepted and it was mind blowing. The texture of the croissant stands out the most for me. Will be back the next time I am in town. read more

Don't even try finding a better chocolate chip cookie in the city. Have been there and believe me you are not gonna find anything better than this amazing chewy really chocolatey cookie!! Cappuccino was also really good, which I ordered dry (lots of foam not much mil) and they perfectly understood what I wanted! read more

I just ordered my lunch at Le Gourmand on Spadina. I ordered the Butter Chicken with Rice. For $15.75 I got roughly about 4 ounces of food. This place is a serious rip off. the container is filled only 1cm deep. read more
I have passed by this place so many times that I may have built some hype in my mind, which may have ruined it for me. First impression: LOVE the open space. LOVE the decor and LOVE the chalkboard menu. It's awesome. I even enjoyed waiting in line because, it was totally going to be worth it - so far everything was fabulous and so the food must be also. Got a bit of Spanish & salmon salad and butter chicken - the salad seemed to have all the things I love; salmon, nuts, spinach in light dressing - and well, can't go wrong with butter chicken really, can you? Apparently, you can. I think this is where I need to say that I am a food lover- the sight of it makes my mouth water 95% of the time and you've really got to have not tried for that to not happen. This was one of those times. The chicken - was not quite buttery and had more curry flavour than anything else. I only had a few pieces of chicken and it really was a soupy kind, not the stew kind. it came with what I heard was Basmati rice - that was just dry - I believe Uncle Ben's basmati rice was better than this. Apparently I don't like spinach and smoked salmon together either - even though I love both dearly. My friend's meatloaf was absolutely wonderful -but the mash potato and house salad was not. Overall, the bland food left lot to be desired - apparently they're not a big believer of seasoning. I have no idea what inspired me to pay $20 for blandness...but there you have it. It's a chic little spot and I imagine fabulous place for coffee/tea with cookies or something - but if you're looking for a place to have a nice sit down meal during lunch or dinner or whatever - there are much better options just steps away. read more
Cane back to try another sandwich. I absolutely loves the pancetta with arugula. I have a favorite now and I'm officially a regular. Service is great - I think the girl who served me at cash today was new. She forgot my cookie and gave me the wrong one. She also didn't punched in my order right so I had to wait a few minutes for my sandwich. They gave me a walnut chocolate cookie on the house for waiting. No I'm not giving 5 stars for the free cookie although it affects my overall rating since they care about the customer. The sandwiches are great as well as the chocolate cookie and walnut chocolate cookie. Excellent quality! read more

I had Le Gourmand's chocolate chip cookie on a cool day outside, and found myself covered in ooey gooey chocolate by the time I arrived at my destination. Needless to say this cookie is not for faint hearted, the chocolate has an overwhelming presence and it is definitely a very rare cheat day treat in my books, I should also add that I picked the largest cookie in the display. read more
