Steak and fries. Comes with a salad. The pic looks so great cause that's exactly how the food tasted....delicious!!!!

Went to Paris for a few days. Found this corner restaurant close to a church. Gentleman was very inviting, very attentive, bilingual. The food was very good. True French taste. Definitely expected original then from the USA. We had the steak with fries and the grill chicken breast with fries. Started off with a French onion soup and a vegetable soup which was more like a bisque. Delicious! Friendly staff and the ambience was very nice. Lit up and nice corner bar area with a bunch of tables and chairs. Not sure what's considered a good tip for a $75 tab in Paris, but I definitely recommend this place. The steak wow'd me and the grill chicken...tender,juicy, perfectly seasoned on both. Even the fries....didnt even have to ask for ketchup, they were perfectly crisp and seasoned.

This restaurant is OK. It's in the touristy part of town right by Notre Dam but still has traditional French items on the menu. Our server was ok, but tried to argue with me about hot my fiancées entree didn't come with fries when it clearly said so on the menu. When pressed, he apologized and brought them out. Food was good and seated quickly. But just ok to me.

Second trip to Paris this year~ found this restaurant in April and had to return for the mussels! The service is great and the food is amazing!

I ordered foie but they didn't have it so I went with 6 escargot. My husband ordered a beef kabob & beer. Our meal was okay, not special or memorable. Service was friendly & efficient.

We stopped by to have an early dinner because we were hungry from our flight and a half day of sightseeing. The pate was good but the escargot were tiny. Both the duck and the steak were dry and overcooked. His fries were salty and although they were well-cooked and creamy, my potatoes were under seasoned. The Creme brûlée had a nice and crunchy caramelized sugar topping and the custard not too sweet. Hubby got cheese instead of the dessert and he was given 2 kinds of cheese with 2 slices each kind. It was good but the baguette slices served with it (and the beginning of our meal) were cold and hard. Total bill for the two formula meals was €51. We wish we went elsewhere instead. The young lady who welcomed us in was very friendly and warm. We could have given a better review if only for her but the quality of the food really brought our rating down.

Le voleur qui insulte ses invités... This waiter likes to insult his guests that don't speak French and then he will try to short change your money, hoping you won't notice. Worst experience ever and really exemplifies the stereotype of what Parisians think of tourists. This restaurant should be ashamed to have this waiter represent their business.

This is the restaurant we chose for my girlfriends 27th birthday dinner. It was a fabulous choice. She had a salmon dish and I had burgundy beef. We were provided with bread and butter as well as a glass of champagne before dinner. Our waiter was awesome and the owner, Teto, came out and checked on us personally. He even posed in a few photos with us. Our dessert was a chocolate mousse that was amazing and rich. My girl and I enjoyed our meal, the conversation and the super friendly service. We felt like millionaires ordering high end food. It's right across the street from Notre Dam in a very nice area.

Le Latin St Jacques proclaims it's specialty is traditional French cuisine. When we decided on this restaurant, we walked in and waited for a bit. Honestly they seemed more annoyed with us than anything else during our whole meal, until the very end of the meal. When paying, they were super nice to us...strange. Anyways, we had a nice meal here but I wouldn't say it was one of the best during our time in Paris. I had the 6 Escargots for 8.50 euros and the Frog Legs for 11.50 euros. The frog legs tasted like chicken :) and were cooked without any breading or deep fried goodness. They were simply flavored a bit. They were A-OK although I wasn't wowed by them. The escargot was buttery, herby and everything good. Loved them and really worked to get some of those suckers out of the shell. We liked this restaurant but wondered if their service was kind of their schtick to treat the customers in a kind of rude way. We weren't sure but I don't think I could recommend Le Latin St Jacques to others as the food is just okay, service is just okay and there are so many amazing places to eat in Paris!

This was one of the few restaurants down the lanes that didn't require a hustler standing out front to get you eat here. Service: Excellent. The woman that seated us was very kind, so we made sure she got a very nice tip. When it started to rain, she rushed us inside immediately & apologized! As if it were her fault it rained! She was prompt & helpful. Prices: Well, it's Paris, so it's not cheap. The fixed menu is your best bet to get moderately full (depending on which one you get, you can definitely get over-stuffed!), however, I didn't get the fixed menu. Food: Got the mussels in white wine sauce. Amazing. Definitely satisfied my craving for these very French styled mussels. Yum! The mussels weren't fishy & soft. They were tiny, but there were tons of it. The sauce was really savory, yet light. I wanted a spoon to eat it all! Escargot was also very delicious. A nice buttery garlic ball of delicious. The bread wasn't fresh, so I'm going to assume that it was the factory type baguette. Had a bite of the crêpe, which was so awesome. It was filled with poulet (chicken) & fromage (cheese), which is generally NBD, but the cheese was so creamy & savory. The texture of the crêpe was great. They really did a great job with this savory crêpe. Environment: Down a lane, has outside seating, & inside seating, which is a little cramped. Dimmed lights inside, so it could definitely be a date place!

The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.

We split a very fairly priced bottle of wine and ended the night with the scoop of mousse. If they could figure out how to do that intravenously, that'd be great. The mousse reminded me of a great guilty pleasure, which is eating straight out of the can of Duncan Hines chocolate frosting (ask me how I know, I do this often, going to rebrand it to me being European). If you plan on eating here I HIGHLY recommend getting a reservation. You may have to make one a month or more in advance as well via their website. I was unable to snag one in time, but arrived right when they opened at 12pm and got a walk-in spot. Walk-ins are accepted, but there will most likely be a line when you arrive. We waited shortly before we were lucky enough to get a seat inside. Loved the inside of the restaurant and found it to be a fun vibe. Service was good and server did a good job checking in on us. My one issue was regarding their menu and nut allergies. Someone in my party had a more severe nut allergy. Our server wrote down all the menu items that were supposed to be safe and have no cross-contamination. My friend ordered the ribeye steak and unfortunately started having a reaction to the food. This prompted us to leave our meal early, missing out on the mousse. This was very frustrating and scary. I'm not sure where the communication went wrong, but our server did have a menu with all the listed allergens in the food. Each table is given green olives when you're seated, which are great to snack on. I ended up ordering the Magtet de cavard au romarin which was a duck breast with rosemary, served with potatoes. Food arrived within 10-15 minutes of ordering alongside a basket of French bread. My duck breast was great, full of tons of flavor, and cooked perfectly. I thought it seemed a little colder on the bottom side, but not concerningly so. The au jus to dip the duck meat in was absolutely amazing. It paired so well with the tender duck and really amplified the flavors of the dish. The potatoes that accompanied the duck were phenomenal. Cooked with olive oil, they were soft and just delicious. Not many complaints about my entree! Overall, I thought Chex Janou delivered a lovely meal for me. As for my friend, not so much. Her allergic reaction was unexpected and her food did allegedly contain some sort of nut. This was very disappointing as it caused us to leave early and miss the famous chocolate mousse. So if you have nut allergies, be weary and really double check with the kitchen on what you can/can't order. Otherwise, the meal was fabulous and I loved my duck breast. I will be returning my next trip to Paris as I have to try the mousse!

I love the way they plate it too. Delicious. And a bottle of Cabernet Franc from Bourgueil (Loire Valley). The second visit (3 star) was very different from the first visit. Less friendly, borderline rude, took a long while for table service even though it was not busy, rolled their eyes about us sharing and at our wine bottle selection. We didn't feel welcomed.
