    Review Highlights - Le Nails

I called on a Friday morning and asked if I could get a 1:30 appt and when I got there I walked straight back to a chair and a nice lady named Chin did my pedicure.

"It's a no from me." Grab a snack- this is going to be a long review…read more Mountain Escape Spa seemed like the perfect place to spend a bachelorette spa day with my bridesmaids. My Maid of Honor planned a special day full of facials, lunch and massages. What could possibly go wrong? Let me start by explaining this event was booked weeks in advance. We were initially told that due to staffing issues we would not be able to have a manicure / pedicure included in the package, but that we could still receive facials, lunch and massages. Life is stressful so this sounded like the perfect day of relaxation. We were instructed that we would be receiving forms to fill out prior to the day. Our first clue that something was amiss was that the forms were never emailed. A lot of us work in healthcare and are empathetic to staffing issues so this didn't seem like a huge red flag at first. A day before our booking, my MOH kept calling the spa, to clarify about the forms, but was unable to reach an employee. Again, short staffed- we understood. Dooms Day. We arrived to the facility early and stood outside catching up. It was probably 10 minutes after our scheduled time that we realized something was wrong. No one was there. The lights were out, door locked and curiously the adhesive with operating times had been scrapped off the door. (FYI, they do make adhesive removal so maybe clean your door next time). We tried to pull up the website and it said, "can't open webpage because the server can't be found." At this point reality was setting in, they had closed and didn't notify their customers. We went down to a local market and an employee told us that the Mountain Escape Spa had closed down that week because all of their employees had quit. Unprofessional really isn't even the proper word for this type of behavior. I don't know the events that transpired that led to a swift closing, but I do know what didn't transpire... and that was consideration for paying customers. This is not how to conduct business, but I don't I need to tell anyone that. Save yourself time and avoid this place at all costs. We ended up regrouping over delicious coffee at Canopy Coffee and found our escape from the mountain escape spa full of empty promises and distasteful business practices. And if you want a respectable business, check out Ama Spa near The Edwin Hotel. They were kind enough to get us all scheduled for facials and help turn the day around.

My finger nails were VERY SORE when I left the shop. As the days went on they continued to feel very sore and sensitive. When the nails finally came off...because I wasn't going back to have them done again.. My nail beds were severely bruised and blood blisters were under my skin were these nails were. This was at least two weeks later. I didn't pull the nails off so it wasn't bruising from that. I have been getting my nails done for YEARS and that never happened to me before visiting this nail spa. I wouldn't recommend going there...which makes me very sad because I live within walking distance to this place.

Yes I have some callouses but she acted like she had never seen a callous before. Usually when someone does a pedicure they scrub a pound of dead skin off and here, she barely scrapped them. When the callous came a bit ragged she got nervous and wanted to leave it like that. It was only after encouraging her to try a file (since she didn't have a pumice stone) did she try to get rid of the jagged edges. The painting was also poorly done, I could tell she was trying but she has a bit of a tremor and got it isn't the cuticle creases. Also with the cuticles... Barely took any off-- (probably because didn't let the feet soak (at all really)- my pinky toe easily over grows with cuticle and it looks like she just painted over the cuticle debris. Yes I'm probably picky given that I live in southern California where they scrub and polish your feet till they shine (for only $18!) but it's really not much more device than if you were to do it at home. I can see why the Google review said she was rude as I didn't like here abrasive approach but I think overall she was kind. She also took time to do the foot massage and although I was annoyed by the male trying to convince me I didn't know what I was talking about by saying I don't like gel, I think he was really trying to be helpful. If you're not picky I'm sure it's fine but I'm currently tempted to go get them redone elsewhere...
