Le Paradis is the kind of spot you walk past a hundred times before someone finally drags you in, and then you wonder why you waited so long. Came here with friends and left already planning the next trip. The seafood noodle soup is the move. Massive bowl, generous with the shrimp, squid, fish cake, and crab, swimming in a broth that has real depth. Spicy but not punishing, savory without being heavy, the kind of soup that tastes like someone's grandmother is in the back making sure it's right. Onions and scallions added at the end for that fresh bite. I was scraping the bottom. The grilled pork banh mi is exactly what a banh mi should be. Crackly baguette with a soft center, smoky charred pork, pickled daikon and carrots cutting through the richness, fresh herbs, a little heat. Balanced and built right. You can tell they bake the bread themselves, it has that proper Saigon style crust that shatters when you bite in. Egg rolls came out hot and crispy with the full herb and pickled veggie setup on the side, lettuce, mint, the works. Wrap them yourself, dip in the nuoc cham, eat with your hands. This is how it's supposed to be done. Service was friendly and quick, the kind of place where they remember regulars and treat first timers the same way. Prices are fair, portions are generous, everything tastes like it was made with care. This is a real one. The French Vietnamese roots come through in the bread and the technique, but the food itself stays honest. If you're looking for the kind of neighborhood Vietnamese spot that actually delivers, Le Paradis earns the name. Five stars, going back soon. read more

Le Paradis? More like *Le Disappointment*. If you're on the hunt for authentic Vietnamese flavors, you might want to keep looking. This place missed the mark big time. First off, the food. Sure, the portions are decent, but that's about the only thing they got right. The flavors were practically non-existent--nothing was seasoned, and everything just tasted like water with a few ingredients thrown in. Yes, they offer condiments, but I shouldn't have to play chef at the table to make my meal taste like something. Now, let's talk about the price. It's one thing for food to be expensive if it's good, but when it's bland and lackluster? That's a hard pass. On the plus side, there is a parking lot, so at least finding a spot isn't a hassle. They also have these drinks with animals inside--think snakes and scorpions. Cool to look at, but not enough to distract from the disappointing food. As for the baked goods, they claimed they were fresh, but either they were made terribly or, more likely, they were anything but fresh. The saving grace? The person helping us was genuinely friendly, and that was appreciated. But a smile and good service can only go so far when the food is this underwhelming. While leaving Hayward to Palo Alto, I stopped by to check his restaurant that my friend mention they have good sandwiches and pastry. I thought to order some macaroon. After parking, the entrance is from the back and you have to pass by the kitchen with the door open. I did not like the idea that I have to see the kitchen prior to the entrance. Not too inviting as you walked toward the entrance. When you enter the place it looks very normal and bit old. Once you enter you are faced with long line of display fridges, that has not too much exciting displays. The macaroons looked too pale :) Not the one I used to have in Palo Alto. Also they have tones of meringue piled up.. The people serving dress same as the ones I saw in the kitchn as a uniform. I expect to have the servers dressed more like hosts rather than kitchen uniform.. After all I bought 2 pieces. Not a good buy. The fact that my friend recommended it, I am sure they offer something good, but not my macaroons. I will stick to more original ones that are sold in Palo Alto. read more

I have been here a few times, ordering the same food and drinks. First time i ordered was online by phone...prices looked good and so did the food. Once i got to the restaurant, to pick up my food i had estimated on how much i would be paying.When i get to the counter, the price had changed by a couple of bucks! I was confused and explain the cashier of the online prices. Her response was that those were old and they had not updated the new prices online! Fine, but they need to update those online prices..i guess i let it go and enjoyed my food. Thier smoothies are great flavors! They have an avocado one that i am curious to try! Dining in was a nice experience, staff was fast and friendly. I like the bakery part, even though i haven't tried any of their baked goods but i am sure they will taste just as good as the food did. Tried this place today for the first time today.. What a disappointment! Found hair in my vermicelli bowl not in one area but other areas of the bowl. I brought it up to their attention and brought the bowl to the kitchen. The lady came back with the bowl and asked me where the hair was.. it was not hard to miss. And I told them I do not want the vermicelli bowl and will try the sandwich instead. Waited 20 min for my sandwich and in the end charged me for it!!! The owner said because I chose to eat the sandwich and not my original order??!? Why would I want to eat the same noodles that was mixed in with hair?!? We paid and left. The owner here is so sweet. I didn't get to catch her name, but she was consistently checking up on me and my friend during our lunch. I appreciated it because my friend probably downed 4 water glasses! Haha. They also have a bakery on one side of the restaurant. I only noticed it, but I'm definitely coming back to try those! We tried some banh mi for lunch and they were really good bread rolls, each with a fair amount of meat all were packed with flavor including a generously marinated savory and sweet lemongrass chicken, sandwich Cubano, and a savory and sweet meat combo flavored special. I think what makes this place attractive is the bar when you enter the restaurant. How's the food? I like the stuffed eggplant, which is similar to eggplant parmesan. What I like about the orange chicken is the sauce is served on the side preserving the crispy breading. The sautéed vegetables aren't oily. Even though the menu doesn't seem overwhelming with items there are variety of items served at Chef's Experience China Bistro that you don't see at other Chinese restaurants. Since I mentioned about the bar I've order beverage such as Old Fashioned, Mint Julep, and Shirley Temple. I can't explain it but there is something about the vibe at Chef's Experience China Bistro that makes this restaurant a popular place to celebrate with the family.

We would order this every time we come back. Seafood fried rice had a good amount of mixed seafood and NO PEAS! Yaaaaay! Lol Sweet and sour chicken - surprisingly, this is the dish that stood out the most. The chicken tasted fresh and was juicy. In a lot of other places the chicken is more solid and dry. Not this dish. I was disappointed that our dishes were slow coming out and not together but when arrived each dish was full of flavor and temperature appropriate with good portions. We ordered appetizer chicken wings, a chow main dish and lemon chicken. The chow main was brought out first without the other dishes for at least 10 minutes. I expected the appetizer dish first or at least to arrive with the other dishes all at once or within a short time in order to enjoy together. It was late so I did not address this. The waitress never said our other dishes were soon to come or were being prepared . I actually thought they were forgotten. I was about to ask when she finally brought the wings and said they take a long time to cook. I understand that but it should Be said up front so you know it's not Going to arrive first and can decide to wait to order your other dishes or not. The lemon chicken was brought out soon after the wings. We had already eaten the chow Main as we were not going to wait as it would Have been cold. The flavor of CGR food is very good but I was not fond of how the dishes came out. I do plan to return and I will address the timely arrival of my order so I can enjoy a cohesmeal together. Why are we being charged so much extra ($33+), like with a delivery fee, for the same meal we had just two weeks ago? This used to be our go-to restaurant for a good and affordable meal. Not likely anymore. 'Tis such a shame, because we really enjoy the family and their food, but their offerings are no longer within our budget.
