I used to come to Tin Fu all the time before, but haven't been here since they changed ownership. The inside looks way better than it did, more modern and clean looking! Good menu, they still have lunch specials. Thats what my coworker and I ordered was from the lunch specials. The portions are smaller than before but food is good, came out really hot. I ordered broccoli in oyster sauce and chow mein, was salty but i like salty. Broccoli was nice and crunchy. The eggrolls were not good had a strong interesting flavor and mushy inside, and the hot and sour soup came lukewarm but flavor was good. Our server was nice and food came fast. read more

This Chinese restaurant is a small hole in the wall in a strip mall near the CSU Cal State eastbay campus. I've been trying to gate. Keep this place from many of my friends in school just so that the place does not get bombarded unfortunately I took a few of my friends here for lunch one day and the word is out. This small yet mighty mom and Pop shop has a fantastic menu with an extremely reasonable price. All their food is made Fresh to order, and you could definitely taste the breath of the wok ( wok hay) and all dishes. One of my favorite things they make there is their fried rice with Mongolian tofu. Definitely extremely reasonable price for delicious Fresh cook food. This place has a lot of business for takeout and dine in overall definitely would recommend if you're in a mood for American style Chinese food. Not sure what was up with their phones, but in our most recent experience here, we were trying to phone in an order for delivery, but the line was either busy, or wouldn't connect. We tried many times bc we were desperate for some wonton soup. Eventually they picked up, but said they didn't have a driver for delivery, so we had to pick it up ourselves. We ordered wor wonton soup, fish w/ black bean sauce, and walnut prawns. Sadly we weren't impressed with any of the dishes. The soup was just ok. Update to my overall experience here at Tin Fu. This past Friday I ordered multiple catering trays for my work team. I went with their house special fried rice, house special chow mein, salt and pepper pork, sesame chicken, beef brocoli, and egg rolls. It was ready on time as requested and when I set it all up at the shop and removed the foil the steam from the freshly cooked food filled the air. All in all the order was perfect as it was able to feed all my team members with second helpings. Everyone commented on how good the food tasted and the fact that there was no leftovers was proof enough of well the team Tin Fu continue to provide good quality chinese dishes. Hubby and I were out grocery shopping and were getting really hungry. We didn't know what to get and was thinking about what was around. We looked and saw Tin Fu right in front of us. We decided to look up them up on Yelp and take a look at their menu to see what they offer. After looking, we decided to order! It doesn't look much on the outside but inside was really clean. The staff were so kind and patient while we looked over the menu to see what we wanted. We ordered 2 different combo plates and 2 drinks. The wait wasn't too long and in about 15 mins, we were on our way home with our food! It was so delicious! Tin Fu has been around for the last decade and going strong! I've been there for both their morning dimsum and dinner, and the food was fresh, tasty, and at the right temperature. If you are going for dimsum, I'd recommend ordering out and eating elsewhere as the restaurant gets super busy during brunch times. Otherwise, dining in is still a good option; the restaurant is clean and the service is usually good. read more

Tried to phone in an order called 3 different times within a 20 minute window no worries their probably busy? Went in there's not a soul in sight waited about 5 minutes at the counter before anyone even acknowledged me. When I asked to place a to go order she looked at me like I asked her to change the world. Sad been eating here for years and food is on of my favorites walked out and will never return! Fresh piping hot dishes and fair prices, what more can you ask for? My family used to own a Chinese restaurant so my standards are set very high. And this place definitely delivered and brought back some nostalgia!!! We ordered the dinner special with fried rice and 2 items - mix vegetable with tofu and general chicken. Their general chicken is to die for! Perfectly fried and coated in a sweet chili sauce. The tofu vegetables dish was very good too. We also got their bbq pork chow fun. The rice noodles are the thin kind compared to other places which is what I prefer! The only thing I would say was that there weren't that many pieces of pork and it's on the greasy side. Picking up phone and to go orders .. and today I saw their Thai Tea sign .. thai tea is only $4 and they take card.. ~2022 Update~ We love Tin Fu quite a bit as it's local to Hayward and the Jackson Triangle Area so I went through lots of Google searches to see if they truly still deliver. They were once on a couple of popular apps but then went away on them from what I saw. Then I found some site called Menufy which acts as a delivery service for food on local places and low and behold TinFu was there! Tin Fu continues to serve up delicious Chinese food being well packed. Had ordered Shrimp, Orange Chicken , Pork Fried rice with no Soy Sauce and some soup. Very affordable and the delivery prices are much better than the other place we ordered from in the past (unfortunately the prices went up on the app so sad) Delivery was very prompt - No issues of messages that the order was delayed or anything. read more

I've heard friends rave about Tin Fu since I was in college and I'm glad I finally got to try it out! They were closing at 9pm on a Saturday evening and they were so awesome for still accommodating our phone order when we called at 830pm. Thankfully, it's only 10 min away from my house and our order was ready when we arrived! We ordered 5 dishes: chicken chow mein, beef wonton soup, fried egg rolls, broccoli with cashew, and kung pao chicken. All together the price came out to $55 - which is pretty reasonable in my opinion. Chicken chow mein was saucy with large pieces of chicken (could prob order it on its own if you didn't care for too many veggies to complete your meal). Kung pao chicken was just spicy enough with lots of veggies. Beef wonton soup hit the spot on a cold night. Solid meal if you're in the area craving Chinese food! read more

BOYCOTT THIS RESTAURANT!!! They are the rudest and most unkind business I have ever been in. I can't tell you how the food is! Why not? The first time here we arrived an hour before closing. The owner said they would only let us take food to go because it was too close to closing. Since this time was a Friday night, we called first and asked if it was okay if we came in to dine since they closed early last time. We told her we planned on arriving 1 hour and 45 minutes before the posted closing time. She said it would be okay. We arrived immediately and when we entered just like the last time she said she wouldn't serve us because it was too close to closing. We told her we had called and she told us we could dine in and she doubled down and said we couldn't dine in because she had plans tonight. Needless to say we are never coming back and recommend others boycott them as well based on how poorly they treat others. read more

Ok, I'm glad they'd made some updates like having chili oil, the fries rice was good before, better now-- but they need to work on their service quality(!). Generally speaking, mediocre but passable Cantonese food bordering on fast food. I have eaten there several times and was tolerant because I knew what it was. But this time they lost me as a customer completely. I ordered soy sauce yellow chow mein (鼓油王炒面) which is a very standard dish that almost every Chinese restaurant has and knows how to make. One of the most fundamental and obvious aspects is that it's supposed to be skinny noodles, not fat noodles. Every chef and every restaurant knows this. So they deliver the dish and there are the fat noodles that should not have been there. It changes the whole character of the dish. And in addition there were no beans sprouts, mushrooms, or scallions, which are customary. And just the cabbage. I opened the Google search and input the name of the dish and every photo of this dish was in skinny noodles, regardless of recipe or maker. I asked the woman why are there fat noodles when I ordered soy sauce yellow chow mein and it's obviously supposed to be skinny noodles and you and your chef should know that. She tried to put the blame back on me and said you didn't tell me you wanted skinny noodles. I said I shouldn't have to because the name of the dish tells you but it's supposed to be. That's already a known fact. So you made something strange and different and inauthentic which was not what I ordered. She just ignored me and walked away as if the matter were settled. My friend whom I was dining with did not allow me to further address the matter because this was his frequent go-to restaurant. No deductions were made, not even from the tip. What can I say except that I'm pissed off to have my complaint suppressed and ignored. And to have eaten something that's not what I ordered, out of frustration and helplessness. read more

Tin Fu is by far the best Chinese food in the area! I've been going here for years! Probably a decade by now and they just keep getting better. We love their combination dinner specials! It's such a great deal. You get to pick from 3 different options and it is so much food! So worth! I usually pay a little extra and get option B. Everything on the menu is delicious but I especially love their hot and sour soup and the sesame chicken. They also have the best thai tea! I always stop by just for the tea.
