1 Star Very disappointing experience, especially for a Sunday morning. We went around 9:00 AM, and the restaurant wasn't busy at all, so there really wasn't a reason for the service to be this slow and inattentive. It took about 5-10 minutes for the server to come to our table, and he never introduced himself. He asked what we wanted to drink, and we ordered coffee, but he completely forgot about it. After waiting another 20 minutes, he still hadn't come back to take our food order, so we had to call him over ourselves to finally place our order. When our food finally arrived, it was cold. We also asked him for napkins, which he forgot about as well. We eventually had to ask the hostess for napkins ourselves. Meanwhile, the server was in the bar area talking instead of checking on his tables. Overall, this was some of the worst service we've experienced at a restaurant. The combination of the long waits, forgotten requests, and cold food made for a very disappointing Sunday morning. Considering how early we arrived and how empty the restaurant was, the service was especially frustrating. Definitely not an experience we'd want to repeat. read more

Came to Le Peep for brunch on a Tuesday. I appreciated that they had bottomless coffee and quick service. I ordered a salmon Benedict which I thought would be smoked but it was more like a baked salmon Benedict. I wanted to sub my hash browns for fruit but our waiter said they don't make modifications, which I thought was odd. My wife and I used to take the kids to Saturday brunch at LePeep every week for at least 12 years. We stopped going for the past year and a half. The food was good, but the fountain diet coke was off (too much carbonation and not enough syrup and a funny light brown color). Today we decided to not go to our new spot and try LePeep again. The food had improved and the fountain diet coke was on point. I think we'll have to start going to start putting LePeep back into the mix when thinking about Saturday brunch. We have been to Le Peep multiple times now and every time it's been delicious and efficient. My husband and I have ordered the avocado toast, pancakes, lobster benedict, chopped salad, omelettes and everything has been perfect. The coffee and orange juice is yummy and we are in and out in no time flat - we love this place! We have eaten in and carried out, both options with very friendly and welcoming staff. Coming on the weekends can get pretty busy. This breafast place is open morning until early afternoon. The food however is always delicious, made from scratch. They have limited paid parking in the front and sides of the restaurant. The ambiance of this place is very family like. Again the parking around this place can be a challenege. Back again at Le Peep, not by choice, a friend suggested we meet up for breakfast. Amazing location, other than that you'll experience cheap food at inflated prices. We both ordered the Avocado toast, with 2 eggs you're looking at close to $20 each. For avocado toast to work the 1 bread 2 avocados need to be fresh, this was not the case. I've passed Le Peep countless times since moving to the area and today I finally made it in for Sunday brunch. Just before noon, there was no wait time for a party for 2, and I think we had Northwestern being on winter break to thank for that. Even parking was a breeze, which was shocking to me. I ordered the Lumberjack's Breakfast (2 eggs, potatoes, choice of bacon/sausage/turkey sausage, 2 pancakes), while my boyfriend ordered the Eighteen Wheeler (basically the same but with French Toast instead of Pancakes). It's hard for me to be disappointed in breakfast food, but the pancakes were just missing something. They were still good, just not the best. The first time I came here, I was absolutely starving and ordered an avocado toast only to be devastated to be served a plate of literally two pieces of toast with avocado on top. We were looking for a breakfast-y restaurant for a large family gathering. Our regular go-to (Walker Brothers) was ruled out for this particular morning, so we decided on Le Peep. I had been to Le Peep many times in the past, and while it had been okay, it was 'just' okay. Food had been serviceable, and service was so-so. So I was not excited about the prospect of a large table and the potential service delays on a busy morning. I was delightfully surprised. I don't know if there has been a change of management, and/or kitchen staff, but the food was excellent, and the service was above and beyond. We had a couple of young ones, and a baby with us, and they provided children's menus which kept the kidlettes busy, the food came out quickly (and accurately), beautifully presented. We split it which was perfect to satisfy the sweet tooth. -Efficiency: it was busy, but they are able to flip tables quickly so we were seated within minutes. Food came out fast and you pay at the register so you can self pace from there. -Variety: the menu has a substantial amount of options. You could come everyday for 2-3 months and not repeat a meal. -Atmosphere: they have the proper balance of busy, noise, and table space. You feel like you are in a "desired location" but you do not feel crowded. It's a hard balance but Le Peep gets it right. Great service! But really really really REALLY meh food. I ordered the crepe (which was probably a mistake. Stick to pancakes and waffles when trying a new place. Hard to mess up) The garlic bread that came with it came fresh out of the freezer and barely had any garlic or butter on it. The chicken was that gross rubbery pre-cooked chicken. You do get a lot of serving so, you get the bang for your back. We ordered the Eighteen Wheeler and Lumberjack and it was okay. I hope the French Toast was better and less cinnamon but, that's more of a personal preference. I've had their crepes as well and again it was okay. Liked this place a lot. We dropped in one Saturday when the weather was nice and we had a short wait - but that is good. If so many people are knocking on their door there must be a reason. We had the usual for a breakfast place and the eggs, sausage, and bacon offerings were all very nice - 3 stars. But for us the standout was the pancakes - 5 stars. At many place the pancakes have a nice taste but they are a bit heavy - not here. The pancakes were light and airy and you could tell the batter hadn't been sitting around all morning. Very nice - get the pancakes. All in all this is a nice roomy breakfast stop on the food trail in Evanston. Lots of 20-somethings that go to nearby Northwestern University, the whole place had a nice uplifting feel to it. Good coffee, good breakfast food ...give the pancakes a try. read more

They been packed on Saturday morning and there was big line waiting for table. Host told us that is 15 minutes wait and we got table in less than 10. This place doesn't seem to struggle with stuff shortage. Even with fully packed restaurant we got drinks right away, ordered food fast and food came out really quick. The line to get in here on Sundays after 10 AM is very damn long. So long in fact that you may ask yourself " are they selling drugs here. why the hell is there such a long line"? No they are not selling drugs here just good food. Maybe this is a secret to people who dont frequent Evanston but it should be a secret no longer. First of all the service is always outstanding.
