I was really hoping this was going to be great spot as seen on IG. Reservations: A must Parking: A challenge. Portions: Very large for one person so think twice about sharing and ask questions. Service : Jenn was so personable, patient, attentive and just great! Wait time: barely more than 15 mins or so before our plates landed on the table.. it was a packed house too! Complimentary cheesecake bites... bonus!!! Fee to use a card: Not a fan. Drinks: Earl grey tea and Cookie Biscoff latte.. both were truly amazing! Strawberry French Toast, linked turkey sausage and over medium eggs - my mom said the FT were so light and moist..odd but her words.. she devoured all of it. She loved the turkey sausage. Me - Sugar & Spice Waffle Sammie .. yep I just knew a twist on my favorite breakfast meal chicken n waffles was going to be slammin.. my tummy didn't agree AT ALL! First thing, I asked about the eggs being real cracked scrambled eggs.. they weren't. My potatoes were cooked too long and not warm. I think they're freezer cooked as well. The waffles were definitely sugary .. in a good way. The actual star.. the chicken.. it was in the mid, just ok.
They are really efficient in this place from making reservations to check in to ordering to table service. Everything is on point. The teas options are so good but a little sad they don't have the options in stock for purchase. The place inside is so lively and beautiful. The vibes are a whole scene by itself. Ashlyn was so pleased and helpful. Such an amazing spirit. A variety of food options. They don't sell alcoholic beverages but they they are a breakfast brunch spot. I can't wait to go back.
Omg everything we ate was phenomenal! We had a 2.0 flight of French toast, a bacado benny, catfish and grits, a French toast flight 1.0, and kids pancakes. Every single thing was beyond delicious. Service was great and the food came out so quickly.
Honestly I see why this place gets so much hype, it is REALLY good. I wish I had more of a sweet tooth when I came because they had so many dessert breakfast options I couldnt pick any so I picked none :(. I did order this coconut latte (pictured) and it wasnt sweet but it was still very very good. I also ordered a skillet w chorizo and I could not finish it but it was STILL good the next day. If you were hesitant about going or the long line scared you, go anyway! the wait is not bad at all and the vibes inside are amazing! AND the food is good!
Honeybear Cafe was a great recommendation from a friend! I would highly suggest making a reservation for the way could be long. We had a hour and fifteen min wait and was seated around 45-50 min. Not bad for us to be walk-INS. We so received the option to sit on the patio which was great. They staff was very friendly and the food came out very quickly! The portion sizes are LARGE! You will for sure leave with left overs! Everything was well seasoned and tasted amazing! This restaurant was on of our favorites on this trip!
We found Honeybear Cafe from TikTok reviews and it definitely lived up to the hype. Everything was amazing from the food to the service. Our server Amy was so friendly and made sure we were happy with everything the entire time. We had a reservation and only waited about 5 minutes to be seated. The pancake flight was a highlight, and the fried catfish and grits with shrimp added were perfectly cooked and full of flavor. Portions were huge, which worked out because we wanted to try a little of everything. Food presentation and taste were easily a 10/10. Another great experience during our first trip to Chicago.
Amazing!!!! Hard to find parking but it does not matter once you get inside. The food is amazing! I had the french toast sampler and could have shared with atleast 2 people. The menu has options for everyone. Our server Kat was so sweet and kind. Very busy even on a Wednesday but we did not have to wait for a table. I am generally not about non-canned cornbeef hash (home made) but Honeybear's was so delicious! The corned beef was so tender. Served with potatoes, green peppers and onions. I cant wait to visit again.
The atmosphere is cozy and happy. The servers were beyond nice and the food is amazing and portions are huge

Tons of social media buzz brought us out-of-towners to Honeybear Cafe on a long weekend trip through Chicago! Street parking available on nearby and adjacent streets. The space itself is lively, bright, and welcoming...perfectly decorated for spring with pastels, bunnies, and flowers. You can't help but be happy inside here, even as it poured rain outside :) Our server was INCREDIBLY friendly and helpful, as the menu is GIGANTIC. The place was packed with people, but service kept up and food arrived efficiently! Now, we just suffered from simply ordering the wrong menu items, unfortunately! The Biscuits and Gravy was a decent portion, but the biscuit was dry and bready, without enough gravy to keep it going. I also can't stand when restaurants call a dish a "Skillet" and then don't serve it in a skillet...just call it a bowl. The Sloppy Skillet also missed the mark, with just blah ingredients. But the French Toast and Waffles that passed our table looked EXCELLENT and the Breakfast Quesadillas were larger than their plate!! Given the myriad of breakfast places in Chicago, we won't be rushing to return, but if you are into fancy French Toast or HUGE servings, I'd definitely recommend checking this place out.

Menu is pretty extensive leaning towards breakfast although they also have sandwiches. I ordered their bayou dish and my husband had their biscuits and gravy with a side of bacon. The food came out really quickly and the portions are huge! I enjoyed my bayou dish with the andouille sausage and hash browns (they know how to make them) and pancakes. I enjoyed the pancakes as well as they are more on the fluffy side and not thick/dense. The biscuit and grits are what you would expect but I especially liked the bacon (thick). Nice ambiance, lots of friendly servers and they even give you two small pieces of what looks like cheesecake. Price wise, a bit on the higher end but for the portion sizes, well worth it. Ample street parking available. Overall, a good recommendation from the Yelp community which I would also concur.
What is left to say about Honeybear? This is THE Chicago brunch spot. The decor is always over the top. The portions are enormous (truly, we get at least 3-4 meals out of each entree), service is top tier, and the food is great. Prices are reasonable considering you'll be eating the leftovers for three days. If you're going on a weekend, come at opening, make a reservation or be prepared to wait.
Came at 8:30 Sunday and no wait. Seems to get crowded towards 9-10. But I will say- I thought it would be overhyped and it's well worth the hype. For a busy restaurant the food comes fast, portions big, servers are so nice, and Very kid friendly. 10/10 would come again

Portions are huge and are at least 2 servings! The Chilaquiles was the star of the show followed by the cookie butter latte! Very crowded and small location but food and service is fast and efficient. read more
Honeybear Cafe is the equivalent of "yes, and." I feel like their chefs are in the back just throwing any ideas they can at French toast and going "yes, and not only that, but-" They knock it out of the park every time. I don't know how they do it, but their Concha special was delicious, as was their cookie butter and banana. If you can't eat a lot of sweet food, steal a bite or two off a friend's plate. We couldn't finish in one sitting. Go early to avoid the crowds, and make sure you make a reservation so you aren't left standing outside watching everyone else eat the French toast read more
My niece came into town for her birthday and was really excited to check out Honeybear Café because of its popularity on TikTok. Honeybear is a perfect example of how a strong social media following can help you build a successful restaurant almost anywhere. There really isn't much happening around 7036 N. Clark Street, it's a pretty typical far North Side Chicago area with not a lot going on, but Honeybear definitely stands out. They even have a beautiful mural on the side of the building that makes for a great photo opportunity. When we arrived, there were probably about 20 people ahead of us, and the wait was around 30 minutes. So, if you're planning to go, definitely be prepared to wait a little. Once we got inside, the restaurant was pretty packed, but the waitstaff was super helpful and did a great job helping us navigate the menu. I will say that I think the menu would benefit from having more pictures. The descriptions of the food are OK, but it would be much more helpful if they highlighted some of the especially popular items, the dishes that people are seeing and getting excited about online. Most of the menu items are à la carte, but my niece and I decided to go with the combos so we could get more for our money. We both got the French toast. I got mine with eggs, breakfast potatoes, and turkey bacon, while I believe my niece got the chicken sausage. Honestly, the food was just OK. Everything was cooked well, and there wasn't anything wrong with the meal. I did have to send the turkey bacon back because I like mine extra crispy, but they were happy to take care of it. The breakfast potatoes were solid as well. That said, I'm a big stickler for breakfast food, and nothing about my meal really wowed me. My niece actually felt pretty much the same way. Considering the hype surrounding Honeybear and the amount of time we had to wait for a table, it personally wasn't worth it for me. I would probably have to go back and try some of their more popular menu items to really understand what all the hype is about. It was a decent, solid meal, but my standards for breakfast are pretty high. I've been to plenty of hole-in-the-wall spots in Chicago that have blown me away with the quality of their food. This is also the city that gave us the original House of Pancakes, and in terms of flavor, I don't think Honeybear comes anywhere close. That doesn't mean it's bad, it just means the food didn't live up to the expectations created by the hype for me. However, if you're willing to wait and stick with some of their more popular dishes, you may have a better experience. For this first visit, I can't give Honeybear more than 3 out of 5 stars. read more

Does this place even need the review?! Here I am 3 days later eating my breakfast! It is soooooo worth the hype if you order the right stuff! The service is burn and turn baby!!!! Friendly and great suggestions by our server. Th only down side is this place is packeeed to the brim but that's expected with the type of food they offer. I suggest the 2.0 French toast flight - churro French toast had me in a choke hold. You don't even need syrup! The breakfast steak quesadilla was bigger than my head with the fluffiest eggs inside..... so delicious and not overly salted like most breakfast places! Also the strawberry shortcake pancakes were like I was in candy land!!!! Hands down awesome breakfast and brunch spot. Cute art all over the restaurant. In and out just how we like it! And great music playing on the radio! read more

10/10 highly recommend! This place is so cute and the food is so good! I love a good spot where the food looks and tastes good. The service was pretty good, everyone was friendly. Definitely recommend making reservations because walk up waiting is a long time. I heard them telling people walk up was an hour + wait! We had a reservation and just had to wait a few minutes for our table! No outside seating so be prepared to wait in the cold. read more
This is such a cute spot. The restaurant is nicely decorated and the staff is very nice. Our server Jenn was promt and very knowledgeable. She started us out with water and some cheesecake bites then asked what we wanted to drink. Only one drink and it was pineapple juice. When asked, she offered plenty of ideas from the menu. We decided to go with a Build Your Own Skillet with smoked honey bacon, country ham, pork sausage and added American and Swiss cheese and pancakes on the side, order of sausage links and pineapple juice, Nick's More S'mored with a side of hashbrowns and my order was The Wildcat skillet with eggs over easy and French Toast. Even though I went with the OG French Toast, they do offer so many other flavors, pancakes as well. It was pretty neat that they lit the marshmallow on fire. Nice show! Shortly after we received a small dish of sweet cream with a teddy graham (which my some stole). We all enjoyed our meals as they were super tasty. This is a very popular breakfast spot the locals flock to. Once you taste the food you immediately understand why everything is layered with flavor. It's BYOB in true Chicago fashion. The service is warm friendly and efficient! The place is decorated with flowers all over. Lots of food my order of shrimp and grits with a smoked bacon cheese sauce was enough to feed a family of four! It was delicious! read more
I stopped by here on 2/11/26 with a couple of friends and had a great experience. I decided let me take my partner. Great choice. We were seated immediately though they had multiple folks waiting. Sandra was our server. She was friendly, professional and on point. We both ordered the build your own omelette. Food was delicious, seasoned, just right. Superb music playing. The bus guys were good to with giving us water and removing unwanted plates, waste from table. Definitely will be back!!! Great job guys. read more
Great service and solid brunch spot! We didn't have a reservation, but they make it super easy to reserve online. We came for brunch during typical working hours and it was fairly busy, but we didn't have to wait at all--got seated for two as soon as we walked in. I tried the Leo's chix and bacon waffle with hash browns, and all the flavors complemented each other really well. My friend ordered one of their omelettes and had zero complaints. Parking was easy on the street, which is always a win. Ciara was super friendly, knowledgeable, and attentive to us despite how busy the place was. If I'm coming back on a weekend, I'd definitely make a reservation ahead of time. Also, their Valentine's Day decorations were really cute and added a nice touch to the vibe. I don't know how I've gone so long without trying Honeybear Cafe, but I know that I have to be back because this was a great experience! I will start off by saying, it is VERY busy. I went on a Saturday, and it was packed. No space in the entrance really, and it is a tight squeeze between tables, but I get it. It's a popular place. No lie, there were at least 15 birthdays in my 2 hours there. But to get into the food, it was delicious! Their portions are amazing for the price, and our server was really nice, funny, and accommodating. Also, when we sat down they gave us free pieces of cheesecake, so this place was always going to win my heart. My party all loved their food. And if I didn't love their food, I would come back simply because they split the check 6 ways AND split 1 group item on each check. I have never been to a restaurant in Chicago that's accommodating like that. I now know why this place is so popular on Instagram and TikTok! I will definitely be back. read more
Honey Bear Cafe is such a down-to-earth, quaint little spot with huge portions and so much to offer on the menu. The service was good and the food came out hot and fast. i ordered the Wild Cat skillet, the pancake flight, and a s'mores latte, and everything was sooo good--flavorful, filling, and definitely worth it. The pancake flight was a fun way to try multiple flavors, and that s'mores latte was the perfect sweet touch. The only small downside was my friend's fish--it wasn't all that great, but we're from down South, so we're a little picky when it comes to fish . Overall, such a solid breakfast spot, and we'll definitely be back the next time we're in Chicago! read more

What an awesome spot. Massive portions of delicious food. Husband and daughter had to try the French toast flight and even the basic breakfasts were phenomenal. Service was great - plenty of staff available for whatever you need. The kitchen is super fast and the vibe is awesome. Wish we were locals so we could come here again! read more
Street parking only. We found a place to park two blocks away, and it was a cold walk, but .... it was worth it! The wait time was none. We were seated and approached with water and some complimentary cheesecake bites and asked about our drink choices. Then Jennifer returned and asked if we wanted to order. So we did. The food is made to order and the options are many. Service was wonderful and the food was served hot and fresh. I was not aware of the firey marshmallow on top of the S'mores Pancake stacks so that was cool. We were also given a bowl of sweet whipped cream with a graham bear. The decor is nice as well, a lot of blue. read more
This was a birthday brunch restaurant on my Yelp list during our time visiting Chicago. Reservations are highly recommended so I was glad I made them because we were seated shortly after our reservation time. The restaurant is on the smaller size but, it was very busy. The atmosphere is very colorful and inviting. Our server was very attentive and frequently checked on us. Now to the food~ I am French toast lover so I obviously got the stuffed French toast in 3 different flavors....absolutely delicious. Huge portions so I was not able to finish it. The food was amazing all around. Everything was good from server to food. I would highly recommended 10/10 and will definitely return when back in town. read more
Very popular spot and we went on a Monday. Prompt kind service and massive portions. We did the 2x2x2 and upgraded our pancakes and was plenty for 2 people. They have pancake an French toast flights! Cute inside as well. Fun spot to check out! read more

Loved this place. I was visiting Chicago for a concert and made a point to try Honey Bear Cafe after finding it online and reading the reviews and they were spot on! The food is absolutely delicious. I ordered the pancake platter and it was great! I also loved the mini cheesecake appetizers, that was unique: Service was quick and friendly, which was much appreciated, and the overall vibe of the restaurant was great. I'm already looking forward to coming back to try some of their more extravagant breakfast entrees. Definitely worth the hype. read more
Honey Bear was recommended by a coworker and being that I love breakfast I was there the next day I was off. I made reservations and drove to Chicago. I found parking on a residential street right by the cafe. This was on a Thursday morning at 0830 and it was pretty empty so no reservations were really needed. Honey Bear felt like a home style cafe with happy service. The menu had quite a few options including some vegetarian dishes that looked worth while trying. I tried the huevos rancheros and became enveloped in the complexity of flavors. It took a couple of bites to adjust to the acidity of the salsa verde, but quickly found out that you have to dig your spoon down deep and get a good mix of the beans and tostadas to balance out the acidity. It was nice comfort food for breakfast which I am not used to. My wife had the vegetarian croissant with fresh fruit for her side and she thought it was great. We also ordered the french toast flight. The french toast looked amazing thanks to its elaborate and dazzling presentation. The french toast was a highlight of the meal and could easily hold up on its own. We ordered too much not knowing the serving sizes were all going to be enormous. I ate a half of the banana caramel french toast and we took the rest home. All three flavors were sweet and delicious in their own right and came down to preference as to which one was the best! I enjoyed my first experience at this restaurant, it was packed so be sure to get a reservation rather than walk in. Portions are definitely shareable; not your classic southern shrimp and grits but still flavorful and would definitely get again. Liked the strawberry the most, cookie butter second, but probably wouldn't get the rodgers park extreme (could've been a bad blueberry day though lol) read more

Came at 9am on a Sunday and we didn't have to wait but quickly saw a line forming outside and when we left, there were a LOT of people waiting! It was a very busy brunch spot but rightfully so! There are so many things to choose from the menu! I got the skirt steak skillet. I asked for medium cooked steak but it came out well done. I didn't want to make a big deal of it but the waitress immediately noticed when I cut it and offered to make me a new one in the way I requested. They quickly came out with a new piece of steak that was very juicy and cooked medium!! Shout out to our waitress for her eye and her excellent service! I upgraded my side to a specialty and got the tres leches french toast. That was yummy and I appreciated it not being overly sweet! My friend got the chilaquiles with chorizo and that looked amazing. I also got a glass or fresh squeezed orange juice and it was so refreshing. The food is in pretty big portions and it's really good! Service was a 20/10!! Would definitely come back here! read more
Any place that has a 90 minute wait daily, better be worth it and Honeybear definitely is. First, make a reservation. We were seated within 10 minutes of ours despite it being a very busy Saturday. Our waitress, Sydney, wa prompt and friendly. Love that they allow you to bring in alcohol and have a build your own mimosa bar. The food is INCREDIBLE. The Biscoff French Toast should be illegal. I love that they offer flights of their pancakes and French toast to allow you to try several things. All of the side were very good as well. Overall, an incredible meal! read more
