We've been meaning to check out Bryn Mawr for so long now based on a good friend's recommendation. And we usually end up going to our usual place or someplace nearby as this is a bit of a hike, but a beautiful Sunday with family is a great opportunity to set aside the time. I went in with really high expectations based on the personal recommendation plus high reviews from AI. To start, I had a latte and it was good. Someone else had fresh grapefruit juice, which they loved. Someone else had an iced mocha, which fell flat. The pancakes were quite good. The waffle dish we had with blueberries and all were good. It was probably too sweet with all the things. I think I would have enjoyed a normal/plain belgian more. Then we had a veggie, squash, and tofu special, which was good. I think the hash brown sides were really good and flavorful. I liked having that half squash on the plate, which was then stuffed with the other items. Then someone else had the veggie tacos, which were also nice with avocado, goat cheese, and all. So all good fun and a nice brunch had by all. Our walk-in wait was hardly 5 mins around 12pm on a Sunday, which was much appreciated. The service was also decent - they were pretty busy, but kept things moving along. I've been to their location in Hermosa several times and always had a good experience. My first and only time at this location was unfortunately not the same. I came with my family for brunch. One of us found a hair in our food and their staff and management did not handle the situation professionally. None of their staff wear hair nets and the kitchen staff we saw had beards with no nets. They have a total of three locations but this one (North Park) is their original location. There was a good amount of street parking just outside that was free on Sundays. For a weekend morning, they were busy but never had a wait which was nice. Their menu features both classic and unique offerings. I got the Pork Sausage Gravy Biscuits which I thought were ok. The sausage was sliced links rather than crumbled sausage which is typical. The gravy could have used some more spices but the potatoes had good flavor. My husband got the Mayan Benedict which was absolutely unique in flavor, ingredients and presentation. This dish was packed with flavor and spice and would highly recommend. Overall, this is a great brunch spot to try new options you won't see other places. They thrive in their unique realm but I personally thought my classic dish was ok. First time here visiting just off the aesthetics I love the feel love the decor the staff friendly party of 10 we don't have to wait for a table so far it's amazing. It's very clean inside and very busy. The menu was not extremely huge and not to limited it was perfect for what they offer. So many of my favorite dishes it was hard to choose. When a colleague tells me about a place that piques my interest, I'll either make a screenshot (to never be seen again) or take a look at the menu. Which one happens is a toss-up, but looking at the menu makes a visit much more likely. Having looked at Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club's menu, I was drawn to the Bread Pudding French Toast. The craving followed me around, and I made it a point to visit before the name escaped me. I loved this interpretation of French Toast, where the bread pudding and sweet eggy bread came together in perfect harmony. Everything was delectably gooey and flavorful, with the mascarpone, berries, and orange rounding out the experience by adding freshness and creaminess. Good portion too; it was filling, but not so much that I felt a need to either waddle out or grab a doggy bag. That said, as tasty as it was, I didn't find this dish to be mind-blowing, such that I'd be breaking down the door to order it again or bring everyone I know. This is in part due to the value proposition: the dish cost almost $20 for a French toast/bread pudding hybrid. Such a price is too steep for my taste (pun intended). Finally, where I do want to give them credit without extra caveats is the coffee and the service. The coffee was properly strong and tasty, as opposed to the standard "diner brew." The service, meanwhile, was lightning quick and attentive. For too many breakfast places, I say they are committing the crime of highway robbery. That happens when you get two eggs without salt, two bacon strips, and a flat pancake for $20. For others, they make something at a level where I happily take out my wallet and cough up what they ask. Bryn Mawr Breakfast Club falls somewhere in between. It's my first time at the Breakfast Club. There isn't a hostess or wait-to-be-seated sign; you have to ask one of the servers to be seated. I like how spacious it is; there's plenty of seating. My server came over right away with menus and water. A couple of minutes later, my waitress took my order. I chose the Biscuits & Gravy (see photo}, and liked everything on the plate except the biscuits. They were a little "doughy," not fluffy at all, and they didn't put much gravy on top compared to the other items, which were generous. Seriously, this is enough for 2 to split a plate. While i appreciate the portions, the dish was drowning. It was a lot of salsa and sour cream on it - the salsa was good though. The eggs were poached well and had creamy runny yolks. The bean cakes were smaller than expected - I enjoyed the flavor and texture of them though. There was a generous amount of chorizo that was flavorful and the side of potatoes were seasoned nicely. I enjoyed the dish but i feel like they can focus more on quality than quantity, as the portion size leads to the ingredients not be balanced out as well. The staff was kind, and the service was quick. They were accommodating to our tables allergens which I appreciated. I don't know if I could see myself wanting to come back here soon, as there a plethora of great brunch options in the city.
