Went this past Sunday, it's been a while since I've visited a location. I was surprised to be seated in 15 minutes with a party of 5 on a Sunday, so that was a great start! We were immediately greeted once seated and given water. Menu is a good size, typical standards. They serve the diced potatoes here (I forget what they are called), but I'm a much bigger fan of hash-browns. I ordered chicken fried steak bc I like country gravy, but they both were subpar. My sister had a skillet that was pretty good. Another sister ordered steak and eggs and her steak came out undercooked. (Yes, I know there are better places to order steak and eggs, but that's what they chose). Brother in law had french toast and he had no complaints. Decor is minimal, nothing worth mentioning. Le Peep has held a special place in my heart for about ten years. Not only do they provide speedy service, but the food is delicious. Up until last year, I stuck with one of two menu items: the Hen Pen [with corned beef hash] and the Wanderer skillet [peasant potatoes, bacon, onions, cheese, and eggs]. These two breakfast dishes never disappointed me. However, I discovered the joys of the Salmon Benedict and the Crabby Patty Benedict..both are out of this world. It's hard for me to go back to something as simple as a skillet after I had these benedicts. I've got two negatives to say about Le Peep: wait time [to be seated] and their hours of operation. The two really go hand in hand. They are a breakfast/brunch restaurant, so they're going to be open morning until early afternoon. That means there's going to be a constant wave of people coming through, and a nice ten to fifteen minute wait on any given day..sometimes twenty to thirty on Sunday's after church lets out. read more

This restaurant is a solid 3 star restaurant. They are not bad but they are not great either. I had brunch date with a friend during holiday season and since it was on a weekday, we were able to get a table without wait. I got the autmn harvest benedict and I was genuinely excited by how it sounded when the server repeated the order. However the actual food was just okay. Edible but nothing to write about. But they did have two good things that are worth mentioning. (a) Unlimited coffee was good and was refilled regularly when I was there. (b) Discounts - They do give wildcard and senior discounts. This place was great! I very much enjoyed their Eighteen Wheeler® with 2 slices of French Toast, a pair of eggs, 2 pieces of bacon strips and Peasant Potatoes®... YUM! I even got the apple topping for the french toast which knocked it up a bit! My mom also really enjoyed hers but I can't quite remember what she had. The waiter was delightful and very attentive! Good food...one of the few places that actually serve Pancakes & Eggs together on the same plate. Super Cool! I usually go for somethign large like the Eighteen Wheeler, or the Lumberjack, but the Hen Pen is good too. When we came to Le Peep yesterday the server mentioned that the toaster was broken, even though our english muffins were toasted when our plates arrived. I guess they found the problem, or got another toaster in the moments between taking our order, and serving our food. Yes, because the food comes out so fast we get spoiled, and they expect quick service at other locations. They can get busy on the weekends, but still get parties seated quickly. I've heard good things about this place and decided to have Saturday brunch here. We were lucky and got there when we did (right around 12:00) because after we were seated, there were about 7 parties waiting. They were busy! The three of us sat quite comfortably at a table for 6! I ordered the Lumberjack Breakfast, which is eggs, bacon or sausage, their Peasant Potatoes, and a short stack of plain pancakes. If you know me, I'm always about the pancakes so whenever I get breakfast, I'm really there for that and a bite of everything else. They were light, fluffy, and buttery just how I love them! Ordered the Denver omelette; which did not have enough of any of the ingredients usually found in a Denver omelette. Blah. Got the breakfast burrito... it would probably be great if it wasn't covered in melted cheese. How the hell am I supposed to eat a burrito with a knife and fork?!?! If you are looking for something similar to IHOP this is it. The restaurant itself kind of feels dirty inside and very out dated. I love going to Le Peep in Evanston for a number of reasons. One is the blueberry granola pancakes. Yum, the best pancakes in town. The other is the service! I always get a friendly smile and excellent service. The coffee is suberb. You can stay and read your paper or pay your bills and they don't rush you out! The wait is worth it as when you are seated, you are treated like royaly. The owner, Joel, is always happy to chat with customers and is friendly. Joel hires kids who are looking to make money for college and adults, too! The servers have been there for a long time and seem to love their job. There is one guy who wears shorts and clogs year round who is a favorite of mine. A hostess named Elizabeth and one named Erin are so nice and work hard to keep the crowd moving. My boyfriend and I used to go here all the time back when were in college. It's nothing out of the ordinary aside from their work ethic. A polar vortex at 6am? BAM, it's open. Road construction? Building construction? Snowpocalypse? Count on Le Peep to stay open. He always got the breakfast burrito and my items would change. I don't really have a favorite dish, they're all straightforward breakfast dishes so there isn't much to vehemently dislike or praise. I do like their bottomless coffee, and especially the coffee mugs they have (the bottom is rounded out so your spoon stirs nicely). I also love their freshly squeezed orange juice. And really friendly servers! If you go to Northwestern, you can expect to run into some classmates here. Many families, too. My favorite day to visit Le Peep is on Mondays, when if you have a stamp card (10 stamps = 10 dollars off, something to that effect) you get double the number of stamps. read more

Breakfast is my favorite meal of the day. Lately I have been traveling for work and have been frequenting Starbucks drive Thru and ordering breakfast sandwiches. You can only have a turkey bacon breakfast sandwich so many times before you suddenly realize that they taste like cardboard. So, when I arrived to my location in Evanston early and decided to find a breakfast place on the VERY handy yelp app (iphone) I was happy to come across Le Peep. It was pouring with rain and I really didn't feel like parking on the street and going in but BOY and I GLAD I did!! I ordered to Colorado Omelet - egg whites (whipped) filled with lean turkey, avocado, diced tomatoes, and bacon finished with mozzarella cheese. YUM YUM YUM!!! The omelet was so fluffy and cooked to perfection!! I took one look at it and thought there is no way I could finish this by myself but it was so good that my plate was clean. I opted for rye toast instead of the English muffin and the rye toast was thick cut and grilled just right. The peasant potatoes were seasoned very nicely and had just the amount of softness vs. crispiness. The service was friendly and fast. I just wished this place had booths instead of tables. No big deal, though. The next time I am in Evanston, I will be sure to go to Le Peep for breakfast. I see they have other locations and will look for them on my next trip! I really love le peep cafe, it's one of my go-to brunch places in the suburbs. The ambiance at this particular location (as opposed to the one in park ridge) it looks like a kitchen somewhat. They often have coupon deals that are like buy one meal get a second for 99 cents so that's a great deal. Prices are always really good here. As for the food, it's very good as well. I like the lemon water but the OJ is great too, I've gotten good omlettes here. I think it's a good place to try out in the 'burbs! read more

Decided to get Eggs Benedict, because it's a guilty pleasure of mine, and because they make a delectable benedict, hands down. The hollandaise sauce was to die for, and even though my friend had me meet up with her at 9 in the morning, I was okay with it. The hash-brown potato things were amazing, the flavor practically leapt off the plate. I mean, why wouldn't I be happy? Bottom line: check out Le Peep if A. You like good Breakfast food. B. I came here on a Sunday morning for brunch with a fairly large group of people. For those planning a visit here, keep in mind that they get extremely crowded and busy for brunch on the weekends so it would be smart to call in a reservation beforehand. Despite that, we were seated in maybe 15-20 minutes (even though they split up our group because there were so many of us). I was impressed that our waitress had no problems splitting up the bill by writing everyone's order on a separate ticket and then just stapling them at the end. She also made sure we always had a pitcher of water on our table. Food-wise, everything was great. I had their Sir Benedict omelet which was delicious. I'm usually not a huge fan of cream cheese, but I didn't mind that they had some in my omelet. The broccoli was nice and fresh, which was probably my favorite part. The sides were tasty as well (just didn't have enough room in my stomach to finish everything). Some of the people at my table had crepes topped with cream and fresh fruit, which they really enjoyed. Next time I want to try their Eggs Benedict or any of their specials with pumpkin. We all paid separately at the register after our meal. You have to stand in line for a little bit, but paying our own ticket helped us avoid the craziness of having to split the bill ourselves. I had Le Peep again today for probably the first time this year, and I just felt pretty underwhelmed. I have pretty good memories of Le Peep, and I got the same order that I usually do - lumberjack breakfast, sausage, eggs scrambled dry - and today, for some reason, I just felt disappointed. The pancakes were fluffy and moist and delicious as usual, but the rest of the meal just fell flat for me. My eggs were extremely overcooked, the sausage was dry, and the potatoes were oily and soggy. My brunch partner commented that some people here on Yelp said that you have to order the potatoes "well done" to get the right crunch on them, but, not having done that today, they were just not that great. Service was spotty as well - it was pretty difficult to get someone to fill our water glasses, and our server never came by to check on us. Overall, there are much better brunch places in Evanston and, now that I've satisfied my Le Peep cravings, I'll probably be headed to those. read more

This place gives Jimmy Johns a run for its money in terms of quickness. I've only been here a handful of times, but the service has always been attentive and quick. The food is typical breakfast food; bacon, eggs, pancakes and waffles. I wouldn't say the food is bad, because it's not, but it's just like any other breakfast place, there's really nothing special about it. Being located right in the heart of downtown Evanston makes it a very popular place so be prepared to wait if you go on the weekends. My only complaint about this place is the lack of organization when it comes to paying your bill and/or putting your name down for a table. Both things take place at the same counter up front, so when a lot of people are paying their bills it creates a huge mess for those trying to put their name in for a table. Other than that, this is a great place to grab some breakfast food, but we still prefer Mrs. D's Diner in Wilmette if we had to choose. read more

Nevertheless, we were seated quickly and received our food almost immediately after we ordered! As far as the menu goes, it is fairly typical breakfast fare with a few variations on the drinks (like the cinnamon roll latte I found better than anything at Starbucks). I didn't really like my gravy-doused english muffins, but the potatoes were good and so was the omelette. More importantly, and this is the reason why I am certain I will be returning to Le Peep, the plain pancakes are absolutely delicious - light and fluffy with a buttery taste that virtually melts in your mouth. I ended up here after leaving the El at the Davis stop. My dad was hungry and he saw a restaurant that served pancakes. For some reason, that makes him want to eat there (even though he doesn't necessarily order pancakes!). It was Le Peep. There were a good number of people waiting for tables, and more and more people kept coming through the doors. Luckily, we only waited 10 minutes. I ordered the pancake sandwich: one egg, two "mini" pancakes, two strips of bacon. My over-medium egg came out perfect, with a runny yolk and fully-cooked white. The bacon was crisp and salty (it's no Niman Ranch, thick-sliced bacon, but my food was under $6). And the "mini" pancakes were still about 6" in diameter. They were fluffy, with that good pancake-y flavor. Dad ordered the Belgian waffle combo: waffle, two eggs, bacon or sausage, and "Peasant Potatoes". The waffle had good flavor, but no crunch. :( The sausage was gristly and greasy (bacon would be a better choice here). The potatoes were dry and flavorless. I was happy with the pancake sandwich. It was cheap and was a good amount of food. And after tasting the potatoes, I'm glad I didn't order something different just to get potatoes on my plate. I don't know about you, but I almost always order something in order to try the potatoes. If I ever go back here, I'll order one of their specialty pancakes, because the plain one was pretty good. read more

Came to Le Peep with a group of coworkers around 1:30 pm on a Friday. They weren't very crowded at all and we were seated immediately. Our waiter was friendly, and brought out several carafes of water first thing. I ordered the stuffed french toast, while others at my table ordered the breakfast burrito, the grilled cheese, a chicken sandwich and a scramble-like dish. Everything was okay. My dish was fine. I've probably had better homemade french toast to be honest, but the meal was satisfying. Best looking dish was probably the breakfast burrito, that thing was massive! I also imagined this place being a lot cuter on the inside. It's really kind of dumpy...and in Evanston, of all places, I'm not sure how they get away with that. I would much rather go to Clarke's and just get the diner experience than this sort of iHOP imitator. Won't be coming back. read more
