I ve never been here before but my girlfriend have and she gave me few choices to do a sunday brunch. Judging by the lovely pictures, nice ambient I picked this place. We arrived and walked in and there was nobody to greet you to begin with. So we walked towards back and grabbed the waiter and asked a table for two as we are looking around, they were relatively busy but not packed, plenty empty tables for two and at least two-three empty tables for four. Waiter response was kind an odd and he was almost hesitant with his response saying we can only seat up front on street side where few chairs for coffee drinkers I guess. He was a nice teenager. He offered to ask to the manger and came back with same answer. As we were very surprised why we denied sitting I felt like I had to ask the manager myself and as we were getting ready to leave he was coming up front from the back of the counter and I asked, why we can not be seated while there were few empty tables. He was the rudest manager I have ever seen. He could have told me anything nicely and would be the end of it. He could have sad those tables ate reserved or something like that. Instead he choses to be very rude and says, did you ask him referring the waiter, and I said yes but and again before even I had a chance to continue talking, with a very rude attitude and angry voice like he is talking to a child to discipline him, he says what did he tell you! My girlfriend literally pulled me out so we left. What a way of running a place what an attitude! As a previous restaurant manager Dumbo brooklyn myself, I know a thing or two and I have to say, this person has no place in restaurant business. I don't care how beautiful is the place without a welcoming management and smiling faces you should not be doing what you doing. Shame on you mr.! read more

When you first come into the restaurant, you don't expect a lot but if you dine in the back of the restaurant, you will see why people keep coming back. It is such beautifully decorated and really feels like an oasis outside of new york city. The restaurants offers the typical brunch options but for what I think of great / reasonable prices. There are plenty of seating for small and big groups alike. We typically get the omelette but the pancakes/waffles smelled amazing and quite huge for the size. Cash only. read more

If you care about your reputation to your family and friends and don't want to be considered a laughing stock for generations to come, then do not take your loved ones here. I work as a physician so it allows for many instances to remove biases (especially confirmation bias) aside and try to gauge things with an objective standard. That being said, I had feelings for how the following was about to go, but tried to remain with a sense of understanding. I rarely write reviews unless absolutely warranted. The place gets one star, because I'm still alive after eating. So that's fair. Where do I begin? The place had the ambience from its exterior of a nice little brunch place. Carroll Gardens, large windows and an interior garden. But don't let the looks fool you. This place seems like a lot of the work went into decoration and interior rather than the food itself. I can't quite place my finger on it, but it's as if the original owner created what would have been a fine establishment, and to sell it to either poor management or go lax on the staff altogether. My wife and I go because we want brunch for her birthday. We live in Park Slope so we found this place after finding out that Buttermilk Channel was closed (next time, go there). While the interior deceived us effectively, we were charmed by a guy with a bandana on his head looking like he just came out from fixing some car's transmission. "Table for two" we said. and he quickly told us "find a place in the front because we don't seat parties of two in the back." This was of course a lie as there were multiple couples seated in the garden at two seat tables (see pictures). I look at the front and find now available seating then return back and tell him "hey yeah there's nothing in the front" and he then continues to say "okay, well wait your turn" Honestly should have just left the place right then and there. After being seated and ordering from a more friendlier server, we wait the long time to get our food. The menu itself looked so campy compared to the atmosphere, it just didn't mix well, as if the person who created it had no idea about its implications. We get our food and it was honestly the worst brunch food I've ever seen (picture included). Cappuccino looked like it was straight from a vending machine. Terrible plating with finger smear marks of the dressing all around the plate on the salad. It's like the place was losing money and had to hire the cooks from the deli place next door. And that's exactly what kind of food this place was. It was bodega level quality. And don't get me wrong, I love my neighborhood bodega. I've actually had better breakfast potatoes at past bodegas than what was given to me that day. The eggs benedict is seriously not worth 14, when you can go to a place like French Roast for around the same price with vastly superior quality. My wife's frittata was just bad. She kept making the most animated faces throughout the time she was eating it. I admit, I got a laugh out of that. So there's some good in that situation. The waitress never came by to refill our water once. Poor form. The place seems highly unprofessional. From the screaming host yelling out "ARCH IS OPEN" to the food, to the atmosphere. All around the place just crashed and burned. The only saving grace is the interior, which you can rest your eyes upon as you struggle to ingest that hardened piece of bacon from your order. I hope the best. And by the best, i mean best for the customer that this place ultimately bankrupts so someone else can take over and make the most of it. read more

This cafe is a total dream! A little hidden gem. The outside looks like a typical cafe, but when you walk in, to you discover a huge room with waterfalls and plants and good vibes. It's like a fusion of French charm with touches of other cultures. The food is good and the prices are better! We ordered two of the health smoothies and they were delicious. Nice service too! I was born and raised in this neighborhood and this is one of the spots that opened up when nobody wanted to visit. Quick history Columbia st and smith st back in the days were very unsafe full of drugs and a lot of crime. We ended up here for a Valentine's Day brunch after finding out Buttermilk Channel was overbooked. It was a good detour. The staff were so friendly and we made it in right before 3, so they let us stay and get brunch. The decor in the back room is beautiful, a naturesque environment. We ordered a short stack of banana walnut pecan pancakes with strawberries and whipped cream on top. He ordered the eggs Benedict and I ordered the special of the day, rib eye steak panini. The eggs Benedict was simple but very good and the rib eye steak was amazing, flavorful all the way through the steak, cheese, tomatoes, spinach and bread. Sadly we didn't finish the pancakes because we were stuffed, but they were good too. read more

Most beautiful space I've ever seen, period. When you walk in it seems like a regular small cafe but it opens up to a very large dining area in back that's been transformed into a serene oasis full of waterfalls, gentle music, lots of sunlight, and impeccable styling. You're going to need a relaxing space like that because service here is seriously lacking. I came here for breakfast/brunch when Buttermilk Channel down the block had a 45+ minute wait. I was seriously enticed by the pumpkin waffles with fresh fruit ($9). The pancakes were dense and moist yet still fluffy. They really were excellent, my only criticism on the pancakes is that the pumpkin flavor was extremely subtle, almost non existent once you eat it with the fruit and maple syrup. The fruit would have been better to be in a little bowl on the side instead of on top of the pancakes, no one wants to eat honeydew melon and pin apple in the same bite as pumpkin pancakes and syrup. Like I said the service was nonexistent but the atmosphere, quality of food, and prices were really pleasant enough for me to eagerly come back and share the place with as many people as I can. read more

It all started with me getting something that looked like hot yogurt with chunks of melon sinking in it... I had to return it, b/c I ordered o at m e a l. The egg benedict... well, in summary: Oscar Meyer ham, very very undercooked eggs (practically raw), soggy diner style potatoes. Oh, yay! Here comes my oatmeal! .....aaaaand it looks like white gravy, and the melon has sank all the way to the bottom. It's actually FROTHY. So disgusting. I couldn't even eat it. We're never going back. The ambiance gets five brilliantly bright stars, for Le Petite Café is one of the prettiest restaurants I have ever been in. Finally, I can positively describe a restaurant that doesn't include the word, "rustic" (what? I happen to love rustic decor) or even "shabby chic." The environs of Le Petit Café, how do I describe... it's like eating in a ruined church in the midst of an enchanted forest... in a slightly creepy scrap yard. Like, if you examine the wickedly twisted trees, they are actually made of metal, and there are candles that glow from the midst of the branches. The first room has a fireplace, too. In the next room there's a giant stone waterfall with all kinds of religious statues peeping out from windows... moss and vines creep out from the crevices as well. Adore. The food, not so much. We ate here for brunch, but I'd much rather go back and share a bottle of wine in the evening. I had a rather flavorless plate of polenta, beans and eggs that no amount of Tabasco and salt could improve. I don't care. Anything to be amongst the rusted metal, hidden deities, candles, broken bricks and waterfalls of Le Petite Café again. No mischievous elves, nor frolicking fairies. I am starting to think the world begins and ends on this little stretch of Carroll Gardens... Prime Meats, Frankies, Buttermilk Channel, and... Le Petit Cafe. Le Petit gets massive points for its decor alone... it's like sitting in the backyard of the house of the rich French uncle I don't have. (I'm looking for one if you know anyone available). Also note the model train that runs around the interior. We went for brunch and the food was good... not Bocca Lupo good but definitely worthy. The cappuccinos were tasty and give these 2 dishes a try: 1) Eggs Florentine without the hollandaise, instead a fresh tomato puree 2) Polenta, eggs of your choice (recommend over easy), beans, scallions (see attached pic) Thanks for the mellow brunch Le Petit. I adore this lovely little cafe! It's charming ambience and enchanting dining courtyard is such a lovely place to enjoy brunch on an overcast and rainy morning. I've been here a few times before, years ago and it's still lovely! For this latest visit: the Benedict Latino was delicious! The perfect combo of garlic in the sauce with a grilled cheese over the chorizo. Loved every bite! The waffle and coffee was good here too. They were out of the berries so we got bananas which were still fresh and perfectly ripe. You can't go wrong with pancakes here! They are some of the best pancakes I have ever had! My boyfriend found this spot on yelp while trying to find a new placeto go. He lives about 3 blocks away and we have never noticed this cafe so decided to try it out. While we stood outside reading the black board menu, i looked inside to see it as so quaint and majestic. We arrived at 7:15pm and there was no wait at all. We were seated in the back restaurant area where the walls are covered in a beautiful array of unique decorations and bottles. The back wall is a lovely stone waterfall with much love and detail. The ceilings are all high and made of glass. The second part of the restaurant section is also quite lovely, but there was a party in progress so i didn't get a great look. Service was very nice and attentive. Menu was decent but for the look of the cafe, i thought they might consider classier titles. CASH ONLY, CASH ONLY! Prices seem about the same as most quaint restaurants in the area, read not inexpensive. Now for the food. To start we had the bread and fresh Olive oil which was good, followed by the fried calamari appetizer which was great. Calamari wasn't rubbery at all and had the perfect crunch and flavor. I ordered the rib eye, rare which came with veggies and"roasted potatoes", which i would call French fries. Rib eye was a bit rough to cut and chew, but taste was pleasant. Roasted potatoes were good but i prefer mashed potatoes, so i stole those from my companions plate and they were very tasty and gave away my potatoes. Also enjoyed their iced coffee. Overall, i give the food about 3.5 stars and the atmosphere 5 stars. read more

3.5 stars is accurate - and that it exactly what I'm giving them FOOD: The food was pretty good, though nothing amazing. I ordered the steak and eggs, my friend had an omelette and we shared a short stack of pancakes. They have a couple of differ we options for pancakes (buttermilk, pumpkins, whole wheat, banana walnut). They were fluffy and came with fruit on top. Sangria was delicious! My food came with an option of white/rye bread and salad/home fries. The potatoes were bland, and I wish I had gone for the salad buuuut the steak was pretty good! To top the meal off, I decided to try their ice cream. Decided to go for the cappuccino chip, which was a major disappointment. It was grainy and left the taste of sand in my mouth. Do not recommend! SERVICE: They're lacking in this department, but they do get the job done. It took a while for us to find someone to get us seated, and our waitress pretty much took our order and wasn't to be seen again. DECOR: It's pretty, no question about that. We came here in the spur of the moment to have brunch on a weekend. We didn't like the menu in the restaurant we made reservations at and decided to find another place. The outside seating decor was pretty so we decided to eat here. We got seated immediately. Our waiter was new and nervous which I understand but he clearly didn't know what he was doing. When I asked him what kind of wine they had, he said he didn't know (a rare for a French restaurant not to know they wine they have). So I asked if he had rosé, he said he didn't know. Hmmm... He finally asked and got us wine. I order tiger shrimp frittatas and it was healthy, filling and delicious. Everything was going well... Until the umbrella fell on us while we were eating and my friend's untouched wine spilled on his food and lap. None of the staff came to help us! The waiter saw the spilled wine and everything and gave my friend a napkin, that's it. They didn't get us another wine nor take it off our bill. It was wasted wine and food that we paid for. The restaurant is responsible for the fallen umbrella since it's their property and they did nothing. We know how hard it is for restaurants now so we didn't argue and we tipped well but I won't be coming here again. Horrible service! read more

We had a bridal shower for our daughter here and all the guests loved it. People who were visiting the cafe for the first time said they felt they were in an enchanted garden. Tommy, the owner, obviously takes great pride in decorating and did a wonderful job of creating a warm, welcoming atmosphere. The tables were set beautifully when we arrived and gorgeous flowers adorned each table. Agnes did an amazing job on a dessert table the likes of which we have never seen before. Her specialty cake, cupcakes, cake pops, strawberry tower and other treats were a huge hit. Rave reviews!! And we were lucky enough to have Dominic work the party with Javier assisting. They were friendly, attentive and went overboard to make every guest feel special serving delicious brunch choices and drinks. The Cafe and its staff will always be part of a beautiful memory. I came here a few times for brunch, this place has great decor, it feels like you're sitting in a peaceful garden. Although the last time I came here in a 90 degree day and it felt like there was no air conditioning.. everyone that walked in asked if it was on. On that day it wasn't a very pleasant sit. The food is good, nothing spectacular. I've had the hubris rancheros, Benedict Latino, and cornflake crusted chicken fingers. I think I enjoyed the Benedict the most, it's a nice change from regular eggs benedict, using a garlic sauce, chorizo, and cheese instead. The coffee is okay, I've had better for the price. This is a great brunch spot if you only want to do some Instagram post with the decor inside the restaurant and their backyard. The hours of operation is excellent as well. The food is very average. I live only few blocks from them and i only go there if I am too lazy to go somewhere further. Especially with COVID, I have been ordering take-out from their brunch menu on most weekends. I used to do sit-down dining in there pre-COVID and i think it was better back then. Nowadays, the food seemed to have worsened. The waiters/hosts are great and wear masks and doing their best to follow common sense, but the (likely) floor supervisors and chefs/cooks behind the counter rarely follows safety protocol. I honestly don't know how they got the "A." I have observed them multiple times while waiting for my orders inside the restaurant. The staff behind the counter (possibly the floor supervisor/manager and the chef) do not wear gloves while cross contaminate between handling cash, making drinks, and prepping utensils/orders. I did not see them use hand sanitizer at all. The supervisor barely wear his mask correctly- often seen the mask on his chin, while using his dirty hand pulling his mask up and down. The cooks are slightly better, but they handle foods without gloves and cross contaminate between everything. Ok, lets talk about the food. I have ordered few things in the past and they are just very plain and lack flavors. This one time really disappointing because I've paid $4-5 for extra fruits on my waffles, but the amount was so little that I could get 5x+ the amount for that price I paid. It don't makes sense to me. Also, the attitude of the male floor manager/supervisor isn't great either when they were the one whom charged us incorrectly but he made it look like it was our fault. This place is just very average. In summary, don't expect much when you go there for brunch. And if you care about COVID precaution, stay away from this place. read more

I had The Amaretto French Toast w/ Fruit..Tre delish!! The pumpkin pancakes that I stole a bite of was just as good. Another friend had the steak and eggs..steak was made just right! The price is another great thing for this place. I went w/ a group of 13 for a shower brunch and we paid $16 per person...includes tax & tip. I have NEVER went anywhere and split the bill and paid that little. I'm usually out $100 with a group that big..LOL! Most entrees were under $12. The one drawback was the service ...it took sometime to get our orders & drinks. I would blame it on the group size, but I noticed smaller parties waiting just as long as us. read more

Their warm chocolate brownie and cheesecake were really yummy, and a perfect ending to our meal. What really shocked me in a great way was the interior of this restaurant. Such a pretty indoor garden - you don't feel like you're in NYC at all. After looking at the menu, this is definitely a place I'll come back and try for dinner. This place is like as if Denny's opened up a location in Narnia. The mighty Aslinn has declare a holy war on flavor and properly cooked eggs. It amazes me how the kitchen managed to over cook and under cook the poached eggs in one dish. They perfected the ancient dark art of removing all flavor possible from food. My omelette had some flavor but that was completely independent of the cook. The magic of bacon saved my dense mediocore omelette. Once covered with ketchup my omelette was salvageable. Would not come back here again. Be warned, time stands still in this magical land. I hear the baked pastries are acceptable. read more

Very disappointing experience. I ordered the banana walnut pancakes with a side of mixed fruit. After being served I had to remind the waiter about the mixed fruit as it was not included with the food that was brought out. The pancakes were also sub-par, and appeared to be whole wheat pancakes with 5 or 6 walnut chunks sprinkled in. There were no bananas evident. Of the three servers we interacted with the second two were fine, but the first one mumbled very quietly and never checked back on us after taking our order. Other complaints include dirty silverware, a fruit salad consisting primary of honeydew, which is no ones favorite part of a mixed fruit bowl, and "maple" syrup served in a clear plastic squeeze bottle. Came in at 7:30 am on a Saturday morning. The man in front of me was complaining he was now there for 10 mins and there was one person ahead of him. It's our turn to order we asked for oatmilk for our drinks & bagels things they have on the menu by the way. He said to us we don't have any then pointed at the pastries they had and said that's all we have and walked away. We asked if we can sit a very normal thing to ask for a cafe that opened at 6:00 am you think they'll be ready for customers an hour and a half later. Nope they weren't, he told us we had to wait until 8:30 to be seated. Another couple came in while I was leaving and asked to sit his response was the same thing and to no surprise the couples reaction was the same as mine.
