Darling hotel and walking distance to all! Our room was lovely. The breakfast was outstanding as well . Plenty of seating in the courtyard as well!

Le Petit Pali is a FABULOUS hotel! It's in a primo location that is walking distance to anything in downtown Carmel. The staff was all super friendly, they give you a complimentary glass of bubbly on check in, and have a daily cookie delivery service to all the rooms! The whole hotel is decorated in such a quaint and cute way, we loved it. We stayed here for our wedding weekend, and got ready in the fireplace suites on the morning of, and it was perfect! They also gave us a free bottle of champagne in our room as a surprise for the weekend :) We will definitely stay here whenever we are back in Carmel! Only thing to be aware of is there is no dedicated parking lot, however that is very very common for Carmel as it's such a small town.

I have been wanting to stay here for over a year now! So glad I was able to finally experience Le Petit Pali on Ocean Ave in Carmel. The atmosphere is so chic and perfect to embrace the vibe of the town. Location is prime for Carmel, walking distance to it all. The beach, shopping and so much more just a couple blocks each way. The room provides a map to show the best stops to enjoy which was very helpful. Booked a King fireplace room which was quaint but very cozy. Everything was clean and stocked well upon arrival. Pricing can fluctuate for the rooms, a little bit on the expensive side but worth it if you can get a good deal. Lots of amenities such as champagne breakfast, nightly cookie delivery, bike rental, beach chairs & towels. Would stay here again for the right price!

magical from start to finish. The property is stunning, cozy, and every single detail is thoughtfully curated, from the luxe toiletries and toothpaste to the breakfast and even the butter. The rooms were beyond adorable and so comfortable. The staff was incredibly kind, warm, and attentive, and breakfast each morning was delicious. Our favorite moments were spending time by the fire with friends, playing games and drinking wine. It is also extremely dog friendly and our dog had the best time. The location is unbeatable and truly made our trip unforgettable. We cannot wait to come back.

This quaint hotel is adorable! The decor is so thoughtful and the details really enhance the experience. Breakfast is served in the morning and it is fresh, warm, tasty and you're greeted with a server. With your stay it is all complimentary. The rooms are spacious and adorned with so many unique finds. The bed was comfortable, the shower was awesome and the options in your stocked fridge do not disappoint. Great for a couple or solo travelers alike. The staff was also very helpful and friendly!

I'm in love with this place! Walking in feelin the love straight out of the gate! The greeting from Katelyn and Steve was outstanding and heartwarming! The complimentary drinks and cookie was a perfect touch! Lobby is cozy, cute and I just wanna hang by the fire all night! The rooms are clean, big and decorated to perfection! The breakfast is wonderful (fresh and using local bakeries) and the rooms are decorated to perfection! I'm in love with this place and can't wait to come back!

The city of Carmel is very peculiar for out-of-towners it seems, so I'm basing this review solely on the hotels accommodations. Overall Accommodations: 8.5/10 Staff & Service: 10/10 Practicality & Convenience: 8/10 Cleanliness: 9.5/10 Modernity: 8/10 Aesthetic: 9.5/10 (if mid-century grandma's house is your vibe) Alright, so overall this boutique hotel is an absolute gem. It's on the newer side having just opened in 2023. They provide a few accommodations in the room like water, tea, cloth steamer, hair dryer, etc. but nothing too over the top. For the price per room, they may be able to offer a little more. You do, however, receive a complimentary glass of wine upon check-in. The staff were all very happy to be there. Everyone was smiling and helpful. They answered our questions about the hotel and the city of Carmel with great depth. Check-in was easy and efficient. They are swift during the breakfast hour to bring drinks and more at your request. Breakfast is really good btw. French inspired with local craft goods. The city of Carmel by the Sea is a small, retirement town with accommodations, restaurants, and shopping that are fitting for an older crowd. Lights go out around the city around 9pm at the latest. Therefore, trying to get a late night bite to eat, have a cocktail, or hanging out after hours is impossible. The front office is also closed, and the hotel staff aren't really available after like 9pm. Room was quaint and clean. Def a boutique style room. Air conditioning was just there for show, not sure it actually worked. But the ceiling fan is fine. Cool weather there anyway. Lastly, Orlando is one of the kindest and most helpful individuals I've come across in hospitality. Whatever they are paying him, they need to double it.

I had to update after reading the other reviews... we visit Carmel frequently and while we typically day trip this was our first time staying for the weekend. While I can't benchmark price in comparison to its competitors, I can share it was a great experience. Was this place once a motel? It appears so. Did it feel that way now? Only in the sense that you exit your door onto an outdoor walkway. If you come here expecting a hotel experience, you may be disappointed. If you're looking for a precious, well thought out gem, that fits in Carmel, this is it. I see that someone complained about coffee. I drank the coffee, received creamer and it was just fine. They also were kind enough to bring it as room service the next morning. All I can say to that is it's harder to get what you want in life with a poor attitude. And parking was quite easy for us but we didn't come to Carmel to complain about walking a couple blocks (in fact we spent our time exploring the village and getting steps in.) My advice is know what you want your experience to be, and seek that out with research.

Absolutely beautiful. My 3 adult daughters and I traveled to Carmel for a girls trip and Le Petit Pali just made our trip. Beautiful property and exceptional service. We chose 1 room with a pull out. The pull out was not ideal, a little noisy and not the most comfortable. But rooms are not likely meant for 4 adults. We had a blast together though! Rooms are well appointed-lovely bedding, decor and bathrooms. Everyone was so friendly and welcoming. Location is ideal, we never used our rental car, walked everywhere. Really everything we could have wanted for our stay in Carmel.

For anyone not familiar with the traditional British breakfast of soft boiled eggs in the cups where you crack the top off and slice the toast into little strips for dipping into the soft yolk, this is one of the only places you can get this treat in all of the State of California! We loved the Vagabond's House! The beds were very comfortable, we had an upgraded bathroom and plenty of space. Staff was very nice and helpful.

The staff was warm and welcoming, and the happy hour with wine, cheese, and fruit was a great touch. The courtyard with the stone fire pit and waterfall is beautiful and makes the whole place feel extra inviting. You also really can't beat the location--it's an easy walk to the village, shops, restaurants, galleries, and the beach. Our room was updated, very clean, and well-appointed with a fireplace, large TV, microwave, fridge, and a nicely renovated bathroom. Now for the downsides... Carmel happened to be in a heat wave while we were there, and the room was HOT. There's no AC, and the tiny fan they gave us barely made a difference. It definitely made sleeping uncomfortable. But the biggest disappointment by far was the breakfast. For the price you're paying per night, it was honestly shocking how underwhelming it was. The only protein option was hard-boiled eggs (and if you don't eat eggs, you're out of luck). Everything else felt like the bare minimum--mediocre toast, bagels, croissants, granola, yogurt, etc. The yogurt was so watery we couldn't even eat it, and the rest was just very basic and forgettable. We did appreciate that it was delivered directly to our room. Overall, we did enjoy the stay because of the charm, location, and friendly staff, but the heat and especially the breakfast were definite letdowns. We'd consider coming back, but with much lower expectations for the food--and definitely not during a heat wave.

We booked one of the double rooms with a fireplace. While the room itself was fine, the walls and ceilings are extremely thin. From around 9pm to 1:00 AM, we could clearly hear footsteps from the room above us, along with conversations. It didn't seem like the guests upstairs were being intentionally disruptive -- it felt more like an issue with how the property is built and the lack of sound insulation. We did call the front desk and asked if they could notify the guests upstairs. After that, they were more mindful of their steps, which we appreciated, but we could still hear them trying to whispering. We chose this property because we were looking for a peaceful place to rest, reset, and enjoy quiet evenings. Unfortunately, that was not our experience. For the amount we paid for a weekend stay, we expected much better soundproofing and overall comfort. Sadly, we won't be returning or recommending this property to our family or friends.

The staff members are also the sweetest. Sandy is wonderful and make sure to say hi to Butters too, her adorable pup. Walkable to downtown Carmel & easy parking.

Love, love, love this beautiful boutique hotel in Carmel-by-the-Sea!…read more Villa Mara is a gorgeous boutique hotel tucked away in a quiet seaside neighborhood. It blends so naturally into its surroundings that we actually drove right past it the first time. I imagine the town has strict design guidelines to preserve the charm of the area. We stayed here for the first night of our Big Sur vacation, and it was beautiful. When we arrived, we were greeted by a gentleman who escorted us to our room. He appeared to be handling everything himself that evening, yet every interaction was warm and welcoming. His hospitality made us feel genuinely cared for throughout our stay. Our room didn't have a microwave, which honestly suited the elegant aesthetic of the room. However, at night we needed to warm our 17-year-old Yorkie daughter's heating pad for about 30 seconds before bedtime, since she's a senior and warming her tummy helps her sleep comfortably. He happily heated it for us each night. We also needed to keep her food frozen, but the room refrigerator didn't have a freezer compartment. When we asked, he kindly offered to store it in their large commercial freezer in the kitchen. Because this is not a large, impersonal hotel, the warmth and personal touches made our stay especially comfortable and memorable. The service was so attentive that it felt less like staying at a hotel and more like being welcomed into a friend's home. In the evenings, guests were treated to complimentary slices of cake in the lobby along with a glass of wine. Our room had a lovely private terrace, and at night, when we opened the window, we could hear the rhythmic sound of the waves crashing as if the ocean were right next to us. It felt almost magical, and we fell asleep with the window slightly open, listening to the surf. The bed was very comfortable, and the TV was great--it had everything we needed. I especially appreciated the Japanese-made air conditioner, which made it easy to adjust the room to the perfect temperature. I was also impressed by the beautiful Waterworks shower in the bathroom--it was exquisite. Every corner of the hotel reflected impeccable taste and thoughtful attention to detail. Another thing that stood out to me was the scent of the hotel. When I first walked into the lobby, I noticed a beautiful fragrance that I believe came from L.A. Lab candles. It instantly created a luxurious atmosphere, and that same refined sense of style extended to the soaps and bathroom amenities as well. Honestly, we wished we could have stayed longer. On our second night we stayed at Alila Ventana, but next time we visit Big Sur, we'll spend both nights at Villa Mara instead. Finally, I accidentally left my white Japanese hair dryer in the room. When I called the next day, a staff member who hadn't been there during our stay immediately knew what I was talking about and kindly offered to ship it back to me. Less than a week later, it arrived safely at my home- thank you!

Opened in 2022, it feels brand new yet already timeless, with design that's both elegant and warm. The rooms? Incredible. Our patio looked out toward the ocean, and at night you could hear the waves. But the real star of the show is breakfast. The coffee is excellent, the quiches are light and flavorful, and the almond croissants... wow. Hands down the best croissants I've ever had. I would come back just for those. Service was top-notch from start to finish. The staff made us feel so welcome -- kind, attentive, and genuinely happy to help.
