She just kept being rude. I then mentioned it's my birthday today and I was looking forward to this day, hinting that she should stop. She did not wish me a happy birthday and continued being sassy and arguing with me. When you come to a hotel you expect a welcoming environment, especially if you are there for a celebration and chose this specific hotel for your celebration. Absolutely never staying here again, absolutely do not recommend this place to anyone I know. We wanted to stay here celebrate the birthday and evaluate the place for my friend's wedding, it was luck we decided to evaluate it prior to considering this place for a wedding celebration. The way the stuff is uneducated in customer and hospitality service will make the whole place not worth it. Do not rely on this place for important dates. 1 star is generous for this place given how they treat their guests. Verleene should not be in hospitality service, I'm sure I'm not the first person to complain about her.

The staff was so friendly and accommodating and even had a pack n play that we were able to use for our son to sleep in. My one recommendation would be to purchase a couple of high chairs as that would have been a great feature for us to use during breakfast.

We had breakfast every morning and it was hot, fresh and provided variety each day. We stayed in Room 21, La Porte. It included a private side entrance outside the main house which was great. I think our room location was a little noisier than other rooms due to the entrance area outside the room being used by staff and some other guests. This wasn't a bad thing for us but something to note for those looking for quiet. We'll definitely come back to Pacific Grove and the Gosby will definitely be a consideration for lodging.

When we got there, an inn keeper greeted us warmly and gave us a quick tour of the place before showing us to our room. The room was clean and provided everything you would expect from a hotel room (towels, soaps, robes, etc.). I only wish there were more counter space for the bathroom. The breakfast was very good too; they served us a bread pudding with scrambled eggs and bacon. The inn itself had a comforting, vintage feel (without feeling dilapidated). In case you decided to go with one of the less expensive rooms (like I did) the inn also has rooms where you can sit and view the ocean. The inn is located close to the aquarium and local shops, so it was very convenient. Parking was easy to find- there is a parking lot in front of the inn, or you can find plenty of street parking. I found that the parking lot was almost empty when I went a few hours before my check-in time. I would definitely come back here for any future stays. :)

There could be a luxury candle burning to make it smell nice. The piano room is strange too. There should be a small bar and lively music or classical music. The sofas should be useable. It should be a place for socializing. The wood burning fireplaces are outdated and should be gas with a switch. My room was nice but smokey because of the fireplace, which I didn't use. Fresh baked cookies in the evening would be nice. Whatever their plans are, I hope the owners make improvements but don't over-modernize.

The huge totally fenced yard was perfect for the dogs and playing ping pong and other outdoor games. We're all friends through pickleball and hiking which we enjoyed one or both on our 3 night stay. We did most of our eating at the unit by assigning meals for each night... great food!!! The kitchen is well stocked making do with what we found. There's a nice big table in the dining room we could all fit around and the living room is spacious with an enormous couch. The staff is friendly and accommodating! For 8 women and 3 dogs I don't think we caused any trouble or were too loud... just the sound of laughter and fun! Hopefully we can make it a yearly event!!!

For this area and an Ocean View room (The lovely Bay View), that price point is incredible. In full transparency, the ocean view from the Bay View room is over the rooves of the neighbors across the street but it was still lovely. And the decor of the room, Inn and lovely garden, service and daily breakfasts were all amazing. And speaking of the breakfasts, they were plentiful and absolutely delicious. We had a wonderful omelette one morning, stuffed with fresh ingredients and a side of asparagus and fruite, delicious French Toast another and a stuffed crepe the other. (The other morning we headed to our absolute favorite place on the planet for an early lunch....feel free to reach out to find out where!) I also had a fantastic 4 mile run from the Inn as it is so close to the water and they have a wonderful walking/running trail right there. The second day all hell broke loose and the entire bathroom was soaked after a 5 minute shower. I had to wipe down the counter, the toilet, and the sink from all the shower water. I've never experienced anything like it. The "continental breakfast" is pathetic. Cold and tiny pastries and blueberry bagels. So expect to eat elsewhere for breakfast. I recommend Winston's around the corner (it's outstanding). The lady at the front desk the day we checked out and that I reported the shower leak to was very hospitable. To be honest, she was the only positive part of this entire experience. I'm just so disappointed in this place. I was really looking forward to our stay but it fell short in every way plus some.
