For our last night in Paris, we asked for a dinner recommendation from our hotel concierge. Criteria were that it be within walking distance (we were in the Latin Quarter, right next door to the Sorbonne) and serve a traditional French meal. The suggestion was Le Petit Prince de Paris only a couple blocks away. We went on a Wednesday at 7:30p--still on the early side of European dinner hours--and they managed to seat us without a reservation. The restaurant would fill quickly and it was no wonder as to why. After placing our orders including a bottle of what turned out to be an exquisite Bordeaux and an appetizer of escargots, we were served complimentary crostini, soft herbed cheese and curried green olives. The burgundy escargots baked in parsley butter were accompanied by more bread. They lacked the garlic punch we were used to from escargots ordered stateside. We assumed this was a more authentic version and highlighted the flavor of the meat. The entrees were rich yet well-balanced. The beef tenderloin served with decadent (yet GF?!) béarnaise sauce on the side was accompanied by a delicate scalloped potato and vegetable terrine. Service was good and tables are small and intimate. Ala carte entrees, including escargot, salads, various foie gras, and oysters in half and full dozen portions, are largely small plates and range from 11-19€ (except 1 doz oysters at 32€). Plates featuring the beef béarnaise, sea bream in hazelnut oil, rack of lamb with shallot gravy, sea scallops in vanilla-lemon cream, and others, range in price from 28-32€. We have eagerly recommended this quaint eatery to friends and family vacationing in the popular Latin Quarter of Paris.

Incredible experience all around. Servers we're cordial & genuine, setting was beautifully decorated, atmosphere was perfect, and the food was phenomenal. I ordered the Zuchni & scallop flan cake as the starter which melted in my mouth and was packed with flavor. Next up was the roasted duck with mango sauce and scallop potatoes, yet again incredible. Lastly, I enjoyed the chocolate fountain cake which was a perfect way to finish off the meal. During our dinner, we got to enjoy a variety of classics and Christmas tunes sung by performers in the restaurant. Wouldn't have spent my Christmas eve anywhere else and will be back again soon.

With my very limited french speaking abilities I will now say to you Bonjour! Please eat here. Je suis plein. Merci beaucoup. Au revior! You now know my entire french vocabulary. ANYWAYS I had my best meal in Paris here so I gotta write a review. This place is quite elegantly decorated which I didn't expect looking at it from the outside. It is located in a part of the latin quarter rich with other good eateries, but DO NOT pass this place up! For a meal in Paris, Le Petit Prince is relatively priced. The cheapest pre fixe option (entree + main or main+ dessert) is 18 euro, then 23, then 27. The quality of the meal is well worth this, and even more!! My main was the CUMIN STUFFED SEABASS... divine. The cumin is quite strong so if you're not a fan, meh. But I loved it. Next was BANANA MOUSSE for dessert and W-O-W that is some good mousse. A bit on the sweet side, but with my sweet tooth, I'm not complaining. Nice to look at too (hey I'm a sucker for presentation I guess). I'm not sure if their menu changes daily, weekly, monthly, whatever, but I would definitely recommend the two dishes I had. AND THE GARLIC CREAM MUSSELS as an entree that my mom had (on the 18euro pre fixe option nonetheless!) were out of this world. I could dip the fresh french baguettes in the broth all dayyyyyyyy if I could. Bottom line, this is a WIN in my book! If you're in the latin quarter looking for dinner, this is your place!

This place was great. A nice intimate setting and was not packed like many other places. The art on the wall was kind of odd, but we realized it's all local and for sale so it made more sense. The waiter was friendly and the food was delicious (veal and salmon). We did a set menu and it's a great price for what you get. The apple crisp is a must!

Lovely space but disappointed overall.. Gorgeous decor and wonderful service. The menu is elaborate however the vegetarian dish was a real let down. Had salmon for starters and vegetables for the main dish. It was a real shame that there is nothing worthy for non meat-eaters. There could easily be a nice French dish that is simple instead of just vegetables laid out on a plate. The meats look good though but a place like with these price ranges should have a bit of everything for every taste. Wine list is good.

Duck/goose 7 ways: cured breast, gizzard over salad, confit leg, and foie 4 ways!
    Olivia L.

Get the duck plate = duck ** seven ** ways: cured breast (think prosciutto), confit leg, gizzards over salad, and four types of foie gras (cured in salt, a fat slice from a terrine, cured in salt layered with mango, and seared). Each type of foie was distinct and really high quality. The terrine had a firmer texture and was gamier (cut with the mango, onion chutney). Cured in salt was creamier and slightly less gamey but the classic foie profile. Cured in salt with fresh mango slices (they used champagne mangoes, too) was totally different because of the mango's acid. And the seared foie was like eating straight fat in duck liver form. OMG. So good. So we got the duck plate, and then two mains: the minute steak with roquefort (excellent) and the veal T bone (make sure you eat the marrow as well). Despite similar appearances, the sauces were totally different in flavor, so I was a happy camper. For dessert, one slice of the tarte tatin was sufficient to over-stuff us to the point of explosion. It was huge, and the worst part of the meal (which is to say that it was only excellent, not superb). If only it were a little more carmelized on top, it would have been perfect. This was clearly a tarte that had been prepared in the traditional way (by layering apple into a cast iron skillet, then topping with a pastry crust and baking, then flipping it out of the pan so that the apples are on top when you serve it) -- and I really appreciated it. Nowadays, you see any old apple tart being called tarte tatin. The carmel ice cream to go with was not overly sweet. Also, service = they worked in a team, and were just attentive enough, but not overbearing. Super bonus: When the check came, it was about 20 euro less than I thought it would be because they did not charge us the a la carte price for all the items, but instead put one entree and one dessert on a prix fixe menu combination, and did something else with the other, I forget what -- but when the restaurant saves me money AND provides a stellar meal, well, I'm going to be a HUGE fan! We will definitely come back.

Decided to give this place a shot since it was a short walk from where we were staying. Walking up, it was empty aside from two tables outside and one table inside. Seated immediately and the waitress comes over to take our drink order and recommends a white and a red wine for my friend and I. Once the wine comes out, we both order the duck magret with gratin potatoes and ask her if she can recommend the entrees that came with the meal. She recommended a zucchini dish for me and a salmon dish for my friend. When all the food came out, we were ecstatic. Everything was incredible and cooked to perfection. Ended up getting creme brûlée for dessert, which was pretty good, and my friend got the tiramisu with berries which was very good as well. €26 euros for dinner and an additional €9 for dessert (per person). Definitely will be back here next time I'm in the city!!

Update: we went back. Food was absolutely amazing once again. And the staff was lovely. So pleased to have found this amazing restaurant during my Paris vacation.

The richness of the flavor and the texture which is not reminiscent of the traditional roasted duck or foie gras, but rather a much more like a luxurious and indulgent version. We enjoyed our dinner on the outside of the restaurant after about a 20-30 minute wait. The bone marrow had the best flavor I've experienced for the dish. However, it is definitely overshadowed by the rich flavor of the foie gras. This experience was unforgettable, with our view of Parisian streets on a brisk, April night. We even came back on our last night, but didn't realize the hours on Google maps was for the deli. The restaurant closes earlier, before 9:00 PM. This meal got us thinking about Paris in a positive light, and we hope to be able to come back to eat the amazing dishes again!

They had a number of goods to choose from and I ended up buying a few things for souvenirs. As for the actual restaurant, they had a number of delicious sounding items on their menu. Our server was very attentive to us and helped us decide on our dinner orders. Similar to the other restaurants though. After our food was delivered, it was far in between when we were checked on again. And after dessert it took even longer for our server to bring the bill. Overall, the food was a letdown. I do not exaggerate when I say that the frog legs just tasted like slightly flavored water. My friend's ravioli had a fairly decent flavored sauce but the pasta was a bit chewy. My friend's duck breast was pretty tough; I had noticed the table next to us also ordered it and they seemed to have trouble finishing/cutting theirs as well. As for my steak with foie gras, well the steak was once again tough and the foie gras was weirdly stringy. It was soft for the most part but there were parts that were tough and stringy. Maybe that's a section that's generally separated in the preparation process and it was missed? In any case it was disappointing. What wasn't disappointing was dessert though; perfectly sweet and balanced.

On the other hand, it made me realize that my mother was a terrible cook. Bistro des Augustins is a small, cozy venue offering both indoor seating and terrace seating near Pont Neuf. It serves a small number of curated dishes, including a wonderfully traditional Bistro Gratin in a homey ceramic dish served piping hot with a brown crispy cheesy top, herbs, spices and chicken. You can also get it with salmon. My brothers and I only saw my mother use our gas range to light her cigarettes, sanitize needles to remove our splinters, and make s'mores during the summer months when she couldn't muster the energy to take us 'outside camping.' I mean, all she had to do was borrow a cookbook, which I'm sure were readily available from maybe a neighbor or in any local bookstore or the public library. How hard is that? I was the only kid who brought a can of tuna and his own monogrammed can opener to school every day. Every day. And mom convinced me that the tuna holster she got me for my birthday was cool and hip. I was a naive mercury-filled fool, although I did become a very fast runner in junior high school because of the tuna holster. The interior décor of Bistro des Augustins is informal and vintage bistro style - wooden tables, traditional chalkboard menus, and soft lighting - creating a relaxed and comfy ambiance. My eyes have been opened to what's possible. Thank you Bistro des Augustins for expanding my culinary horizons. Five stars.
