We went here for a romantic dinner, the place is small, but very elegant, exquisite interiors, candle light dinner setting. The service was just okay, I can't help to compare it to other fine dining restaurants I have eaten so far, here they don't recommend wines or food, you have to ask, and they will answer, I just find it less proactive.
In terms of the food it was delicious and nicely plated. We had a wonderful prix fixe / tasting menu priced at $59 per person, which included the ff:
entree / appetizer
* Salade de coco et fèves à la vinaigrette de cébette, kombawa et pignons de pin au basilic rouge, gambas en deux façon - fresh prawns in tartar sauce with white and shell beans salad in cébette vinaigrette sauce, kombawa, red basil and pine seeds,
roast prawn on the top - oh so yummy! had a nice balance in the palette, all herbs are also fresh and the prawns are so sweet and juicy
* Petit pain moelleux au maïs, crème de reblochon et jambon Serranno à la manière d'un hamburger - it is like a small soft cake made of corn with reblochon cheese cream and serranno ham, more like a hamburger muffin, and the taste was just okay, ordinary, but uniquely something new for me.
main dish:
* Noix de Saint-Jacques à la plancha, risotto de riz vénéré à l'émulsion de bardes et chips de lard fumé - scallops are very sweet, juicy, and tender... and the risotto was cooked very nice too, but for me the rissoto lacked taste.
* Pot au feu de foie gras et magret de canard - the duck is moist and tasty, the poached foie gras is also delicious, for me, this is the best dish of the night!
* cheese assortments - ordinary, nothing new for me, but it was good though
dessert
* Crème brûlée à la vanille Bourbon - the bourbon is perfectly made, but the vanilla flavor is way too over empowering
Overall, it was a memorable experience for us. A nice way to spend the romantic evening, and the price can be a bit steep, but the food is beyond special because I have experienced something more expensive than this but tastes just average. read more
