I've been a customer for 3 years now, and I'm still getting 5-star service! Just wanted to update my review to mention COVID-19 precautions. This review is based on my appointment in July 2020. Ann books only one customer at a time; she's the owner and only stylist, so she's always seen only one customer at a time. The waiting area is closed off, so you wait outside until she opens the door for you. There's hand sanitizer at the door as you enter. She wears a face mask and face shield. For my appointment, she asked me to come in with clean hair, so she could cut and style in under 30 mins. I paid by credit card and don't remember touching anything other than the door knob and salon chair. The shop is spacious and clean. I'm pretty freaked out about the pandemic; I still don't dine in at restaurants or go to nail salons. But I felt relatively safe in her shop and I'll go back again. read more

No exaggeration here - Ann is the best. The prices are very reasonable, she always does a great job, is a true professional, and keeps a very clean shop. Commuting around West Seattle can be a huge pain but it's always worth it. This is a bit COVID-19 specific but I also wanted to add that she's one of the most cautious businesses I've ever seen with letting you know of potential exposure, providing PPE, etc. If you also are that cautious, it's a huge plus to see someone at that level of safety and if you aren't - that's cool too, and you'll still have comfort in that you're in one of the last places you could possibly get sick. $22 for a woman's haircut. And it's downright awesome. You'd think $22 buys you a haircut from a 19-year old punk girl fresh out of beauty school at Great Clips with a few random snips but in actuality, it's probably the best haircut you'll get around Seattle. My previous hairstylist back in Spokane always shampoo and conditioned my hair before cutting it. Apparently, that's not the norm here. Some places charge you an extra $5 to wash your hair which is just. so. laaaame. Some places also don't really dry your hair and just leave to walk out with wet hair (which is so mean to do in rainy cold Seattle). But Anne does both! She'll wash your hair, take her time with your hair, and dry it out. She's great about making sure your hair doesn't look like it just got a haircut and she makes sure to do any last-minute adjustments that you want. I know that getting a new hairstylist is akin to getting married. But seriously. You'll be glad you got a divorce and moved on. read more

So previously I gave Ann a 5 star rating. Today after talking to a close friend who is a hair stylist also in West Seattle and my best friend who gets her hair colored and cut as well...I found out that I was ripped off on my last hair appointment with Ann. My very first visit I paid $115 on the 1st day, which was a 3 hour visit, I had to come back the next day to go lighter since its been years since I've colored my hair. The 2nd visit was $117. Total I paid $232 for going black to a lighter ombre color + a hair cut ($22 for a women's haircut). Not bad especially since it was a 2 day process. I came back 8 months later to get a touch up, hoping to go lighter and a haircut. It was a 3 hour visit just like my very 1st appointment. It didn't come out how I wanted it and I was advised to do another session, that day (not realizing how much I paid on my initial visit) I paid $223. Now lets compare.... $232 for my 1st visit going from black to a lighter ombre + haircut & $223 for my 2nd visit for a touch up and a haircut. It doesn't make sense that my 2nd visit was about the same price as my 1st visit... when my 1st visit took a lot more hours and work and my 2nd took a lot less, how are they about the same price. Again, I didn't realize it until today looking back on my bank statement. I feel ripped off especially since my hair is brassy (which I wanted to go for a lighter brown/dirty blonde) and damaged. I had spent $$$$ on hair products just to make it look somewhat decent. I called Ann today to ask maybe I paid to have 2 sessions, she confirm that I didn't. When I asked her why my 2nd visit was what I believe more expensive, she explained that because I wanted to go lighter and she used a lot of products, it cost more...well my hair isn't lighter and she definitely used more product the 1st time around yet that was cheaper. I have probably driven by this place 100+ times without even realizing it was here. Just south of the Morgan/35th Junction, Le Salon Rouge is unassuming and not hard to miss when you're whizzing by at 35 miles an hour. The sign on the awning is a bit faded; the building just like many along this stretch of the road. Once you get inside, you could be surprised by the spaciousness especially considering Anne is the only one who works there, but you essentially have an entire little salon to yourself. When I stopped in for my appointment on Friday (made with no problems only a day or so before) I was quickly attended to and whisked over to a shampoo bowl. Though I knew before I went in that I was going to need to lose a bit of length due to neglect ( I don't suggest going 8 months without a haircut), Anne was gentle about getting me to a point where I would be okay with the amount she felt should go. The cut and style was fast and simple - I wasn't planning on going out afterward and had come in wearing a hat and ponytail so I wasn't expecting much. Is it THE MOST AMAZING HAIRCUT I'VE EVER GOTTEN? No. Honestly, I haven't had one of those in a long long time and will probably have to go to Bremerton to achieve that feeling again, BUT for $17 plus tip at a place within a few miles of my home I am pleased. Enough so that I booked another appointment in 8 weeks - this girl needs to stop neglecting the pretty. read more

I don't like to write negative reviews, but I feel I need to thin-out the 5-star ratings for Le Salon Rouge. In my search to find my new stylist after moving to Seattle, I visited Le Salon Rouge. The reviews looked mostly good and I was excited to pay low prices. I am pretty low maintenance and have always balked at how expensive hair appointments can get. After 2 visits to Le Salon Rouge, I hate to say I will not be returning. First visit: one side of my hair was longer than the other. My hair's curly, so I didn't let it bother me and decided to give Anne a second try. (The color - a full foil in dark red - looked great.) Second visit: virtually no layering was done to my hair and the color came-out uneven. (I don't get a complicated cut - just basic long layers...something most stylists do without my having to specify...or they ask questions as they go.) I hated the way my hair looked so much that I got it fixed at a new salon just a couple weeks later. (I usually go months between hair appointments, whether I like the cut/color job or not.) I would maybe recommend Le Salon Rouge if you're getting your kids hair cuts or if you like very basic hairstyles. If you do go, don't say that I didn't warn ya and be VERY SPECIFIC about what you want. read more

Both my roommate and I go here and we LOVE it. Always thought it was silly that people would get so obsessed with a hair place until I came here. Pretty sure if I ever move, I will still drive way out of my way to come back. I also particularly like that Anne doesn't force chatter with you like so many stylists do. Not only is the place real close... and convenient. It's also the BEST place to get a haircut. I love Anne, she is really nice and really gets to know her customers. I never know how I exactly want my hair... all I usually know is that I want a change and it's up to Anne whatever she thinks will look good. So the chick who normally cuts my hair is doing some advanced color training and not seeing clients at the moment. I wanted to find a place I could walk to just to get a trim. I found Le Salon Rouge on Yelp and made an appointment. The building doesn't look like much from the outside, but the inside is clean and organized. Anne was pretty quiet most of the time, but she would ask me a question every now and then. Honestly I didn't mind that at all, my shampoo and cut only took 30 minutes. I asked her to just take an inch off and that's exactly what she did. I've found some people have a hard time just taking off an inch and not trying to throw some layers or something in there. When I went up to pay she said "That'll be $17" and all I could think was WTF who charges that little for a ladies haircut?! I usually pay $40. This place is a great deal and I can walk here. My friend suggested this place and we booked together about the same time one Saturday. I live about 3 minutes away ;-) I am not a hair freak and I don't really take care of my hair but it's getting really long, thick so I decided I should get it trimmed and thinned out and perhaps some extra layers. I brought a picture just in case. I got there a bit early, when my friend was still having her hair cut. My first impression of this salon was : clean, bright and fresh. There are plenty of magazines to keep me company while waiting, also I could check out different styles in case of last-minute mind changing. Once I saw my friend's hair when it's done, I was thinking it looked fabulous on her and Anne did a great job in such little time. I was praying it'll be the same for me. Anne was very nice and comfortable person. I told her what I wanted and she understands. We had casual conversation during my haircut and by the time I knew it, my hair cut was done. My hair was also blown dry and straightened out, which is great. It was painless, quick and lovely. All for $30 ($20 for the haircut and $10 tip). I'd definitely come back! WOW! read more

This place is such a gem! Ann is awesome and I always leave with my hair better than I thought it would be. She puts up with me asking for more and more extra layers once we are done and cuts my bangs as short as I can take them (I'm bad at going in from trims) :) If you tell her exactly what you want she totally does it. I have been here three times and each time got mgot foil highlights and a cut. I am always very happy with the outcome. My hair looks great! I like my highlights to blend well and look somewhat natural, which Anne does a great job at! Her prices are not too high, considering she is in West Seattle and comparing with other salons. Anne is very friendly and we usually talk most of the time I'm there. I would definitely recommend her, at least for highlights and cuts (since that's all I've ever gotten done). Let's put this in perspective. 5 Stars: Ann is delightful, friendly, and guys - ah, well - she pretty darn cute too. She runs a professional business and a sweet shop hidden away in SW Seattle on 35th and her prices are extremely fair. Extremely fair. I agree with everyone about that. I wish Yelp had a better rating system so that people could rate different aspects of the service or product - but they don't. So here's my rating in the best way I can put it STARS: 5 stars - $15 dollar haircut 2 stars - Styling; 3/4 of my medium length super straight hair was done with an electric trimmer and a comb like they do at Rudy's, Hair Masters and other quick-cut barbershops. My hair the next day felt and looked choppy but, in all fairness - $15. I would have been disappointed if it were $25 or over - but $15. You just can't complain for $15 for an ok cut, which it was - ok. Hair grows. 4 stars - Nice shop, clean and professional, not quite design-y but very comfortable 5 stars - Ann: Friendly, professional, very sweet and engaging 4 stars - Location - for me at least - I live 10 blocks away Will I go back? Absolutely, but only in the summer when my hair is shorter and it doesn't need any styling. That's what using an electric trim cutter and a comb was made for and I'd rather give Ann the business than the other chop-shop barbers around town. I've gone to multiple places, all of which have told me they know how to do an inverse bob, most of which have butchered my hair and made me go back getting my hair cut way shorter just to be even. I was a bit skeptical going in to Le Salon Rouge since I have never been there before. Not only did she successfully do an even inverted bob, but she took the extra time to make sure it was perfect. I didn't have to ask her to change or fix a single thing. I've gotten quite a few cuts so horrible that I wanted to cry, but the cut I got at Le Salon Rouge was so perfect I almost wept with joy at finally having an amazing cut without breaking the bank. Even though I live in North Seattle, I will make the drive to West Seattle and go back whenever I need my hair cut. She gave me a quality hair cut that could have easily cost me $50+ for $20. If you haven't been yet, I highly reccomend going. read more

I came to see Anne on the good recommendations from Traci J. and I wasn't disappointed. She did a great job. I got the trim I was looking for and she didn't mess around. I was pleased with her suggestions on how to keep my mane lookin fresh. ;-P Also, she doesn't charge an arm & a leg. I was super pleased with her rates and she does other stuff than just cuts. I cant believe I haven't gotten around to writing about Ann and her superb business until now. Maybe I've been afraid she'll raise her prices or I won't be able to get an appt, but even if both those things did happen I would still keep coming back. I am always happy with my hair cut and Ann is very easy to communicate my wishes to- she offers suggestions but listens to what I want to make sure that comes through. The price is amazing ($20.00 for a haircut) - I've easily paid twice or more for a haircut before I started going to her, and I don't fell compelled to make forced chit-chat if i'm not in the mood which is a big plus for me too. I went here today for a much needed haircut. I went based on reviews here and also that I was able to get in today (same day). I don't get a lot of haircuts, even when I clearly need to. I was nervous because I wanted to cut about 12 inches of hair off (I wasn't kidding about needing that haircut!) and I was going to a new place. I am so glad I went here!!! I NEVER get my hair cut! Luckily, I'm blessed with some pretty nice long blonde locks, because I am extremely lazy about getting around to a salon. But recently, I overcame that laziness after noticing one of my students (I own a tutoring company) started styling her hair with very nice results. After green-eyeing it for weeks, I finally commented, and she enlightened me that her hair was not styled at all, it had just been cut. WHAT? That's got to be an amazing cut! With the stylists number in hand (provided by dear old mom), I conspired to replicate it. Now, my hair looks gorgeous styled or not, and it looks my own (so, hopefully my student can forgive me). I can't remember his name, but he worked in the back room with mirrors all over the wall. He was very generous with his time, and fun to talk to. Plus, his price can't be beat! Just $40! But, he did tell me he charges the least of all the stylists there, so it could cost more. He is definitely worth waaayy more with his painstaking attention to detail. He could have rushed it; my hair takes forever and a day to dry, and he had to create all the lines from scratch, but he treated it like it was a celebrity's do. He even taught me how to style it myself. In the end, my hair looked the best it has ever looked my entire life. What an awesome place! read more
