Searched for a place to eat lunch and discovered this quaint area in Lincoln. Lots of bars and restaurants to choose from but we picked LeadBelly based on reviews and the menu. Decided to sit outside because it was a cooler than normal summer day. Our waiter was prompt even though we were told he had a large group he was also waiting on. The menu has a great variety of apps, salads and sandwiches and a lunch special. I decided on the soup and salad. They offered 3 different soups to choose from and I choose the corn chowder. It was very tasty and the corn tasted like fresh pieces of sweet corn. It had a bit of a bite to it ( which I like) but beware if you don't like spicy foods. The salad was very fresh with romaine lettuce as the base.The ranch dressing was excellent too! My husband had a brat and fries which was tasty but could have been warmer when served. My only negative was when I used the ladies room the toilet brush in the holder was sitting on the counter next to the paper towel dispenser. Evidently left by whoever cleaned it last- but it shouldn't be placed on counter where people set their things or touch the surface even for a short time! Giving then 4 stars due to food not being hot enough and toilet brush issue. We will definitely be back to this restaurant when we are in the area again. read more

Leadbelly on a mild late summer afternoon was excellent! It was my birthday, and after perusing Yelp for fish & chips, we settled on this restaurant. We walked in during the noon hour and were told to "sit anywhere". We opted for the patio and the views, the breeze and the ambience were spot on! After a 20 minute wait, our waitress came and we both ordered fish and chips. In fairly short order, we got a heaping plate of perfectly breaded cod, a variety of french fried potatoes, and a really unique take on the traditional tartar sauce, I can't adequately describe the flavors, it tasted fairly traditional, but the lingering note was, somehow, sweet. It knocked the overall effect clean outta the park! I will be back for certain! I knocked off a star for indifferent service, but I can't wait to give Leadbelly a chance to get the rating they deserve. 5 stars all the way for food and overall vibe. Came here with my family and had a huge smorgasbord of food, including the "Raspberry Barrette" and the cinnamon roll burger. Everything was so delicious!! Never had a bad meal here. Best margaritas in town, too. Not the place to go before a concert at PBA, though.

As a pilot who is one the road a lot, I make it a point to search out and try local restaurants as often as possible. It keeps me entertained and I like helping local establishments as opposed to national chains. Leadbelly has a nice selection of original burgers and toppings that can also be had with chicken or veggie instead of beef. Also, nice salad choices. My sandwich was tasty and toppings were fresh. I just went here for the first time and was very impressed. I ordered a burger with a gluten free bun and it tasted great! I went with my mom and she was not as impressed with the salad she ordered, but she said they made up for it in good beer. The service was good and the atmosphere was enjoyable. Atmosphere, service and food all great!! First time there I had the Full Leaded Jacket which is a chili cheese burger with a CINNAMON ROLL as the bun! You read that right! A cinnamon roll! It was absolutely amazing. Then I had the Raspberry Beret and it made me weak in the knees. The jam they out on it was fantastic!! If I had to choose something not perfect it is their lack of space for bigger groups. We only had 6 people and they had to bring extra chairs out for the booth and we were all very cramped. Very disappointed. I ordered a portobello mushroom burger & they gave me a real hamburger. I didn't notice until after biting into the burger. Therefore, as a vegetarian, I am SERIOUSLY upset with this company. Also, the manager never came out to apologize for the mistake. The waiter apologized obviously but was not very sincere about it and no one really seemed too concerned with this terrible mix up. I was so sick to my stomach afterwards that I had to leave.
