Was referred to chuck via family friend as I needed someone to take a look at my 98 4runner that I was having some various issues with. Chuck fixed everything and then some! They did such a great job the first time I brought them my Subaru wrx also to have some fresh tires put on and for them to also adjust my suspension which they had back to me in only a few hours. I recently dropped off my 4runner again and had them rip out my entire steering and suspension along with every bushing you could imagine and had it replaced with a full 3in lift and every other part I could fit in the trunk. They did a great job installing everything and even took it to the alignment shop for me. Even brought it back a few weeks later for him to comb threw the rig and make sure everything was tight and nothing had came loose and was running optimal. All I can say is wow! You know you're happy with a mechanic when you upgrade your towing coverage to make sure they are within your approved towing area. I had made a special trip to Fremont to get my RV smoged. That was a bust and as I was pulling out of the smog shop, my engine started revving and I couldn't go faster than 15mph. Panicked, I asked the smog shop for a close by transmission shop, they referred me to Leadfoot. Called them up and they said to bring it over. They have a large parking area and large bays so the 31ft RV wasn't an issue. I have never been so satisfied with a business. They went above and beyond when repairing the RV to the point where they actually brought it to a smog shop for me after the repair. Charlie and George are just solid guys and have my total trust. It all started on a Sunday afternoon in August and I was looking for a van and Charles had the van we needed. Met us at his shop and took the van for a ride. After that we bought it. Came back with my 2008 Ford F350 and was going to pick up the van. Well my truck was acting up on the drive to his shop. I figure since I bought the van, I can leave the truck. 2 days later passed and his findings came back. Blown engine. He hunted around and found a new rebuilt and gave me a screaming price. He did the replacement. FANTASTIC WORK. While this truck was in the shop, I sent the van for a repaint not so far from his shop. Well van was ready to pick up, but for some the dash would not work. Straight to Charles. Within minutes he diagnosed the issue and the computer went out. Being the van was special, took him a while to find a computer. 3 weeks and 2 computers, done. And the van is perfect. On the way to the shop to pick the van up from Charles, my 2004 Silverado decided I didn't need 3rd and 4th gear. So drop off this rig for Charles to figure out what the best way to go. Find out that the tranny that was on the truck was a junk yard find. Charles found the right tranny and now running! Charles runs a great shop! It's hard to find a place that can honor their work and know what they are talking about. Honest and trustworthy! read more

Chuck worked on two of my vehicles. One came back costing $400 more than the estimate even though the work was exactly as estimated. The other spent a great deal of time with Chuck, went in with a working motor... they say they had it running, which is odd since I specifically asked to be present when they fired it up, which did not happen. They then claimed the motor was previously blown... I sucked it up and replaced the motor on my dime -- they even charged for the R&R on the motor! Finally had the car towed back to me with electrical and vacuum lines not connected or improperly connected. Leaking brake lines. No main belt. Intake leak. Motor mount not bolted down. Stainless steel fuel lines rubbing on electrical wiring. Throttle position sensor not properly connected. The car is a basket case with many, many thousands of dollars invested in Chuck's time. A true disappointment. And after all this they actually asked for *more* money and never offered the slightest apology over the matter. One of my worst experiences ever with a vendor of any sort. read more

I recently took over ownership of my elderly mother's classic 94 Camry. Nobody could find any paperwork on its service records, but she remembered she had it serviced at LeadFoot Automotive. I managed to find them online and sent an e-mail inquiring about the service record, and was pleasantly surprised to find a reply with PDFs of recent service the following morning, along with a friendly message that they remembered my mom and liked her. While I don't have any direct experience with them, she was clearly happy with their service, the car is in remarkably good shape for its age (even allowing for very low mileage), and the rates on invoices don't seem out-of-line. And their helpfulness in digging up invoices dating back 3 and 5 years - knowing I have my own mechanic - speaks for itself. read more

Being a daily bay area commuter from the Central Valley and having something go wrong with your car in the middle of a hectic work week is the last thing that you want to deal with. On top of that not being in the best mind frame because of the loss of two very close friends of mine when my car started acting up I didn't know what else to do. I was referred over to leadfoot automotive by a close friend of mine who runs a business here in Fremont and said that Charles and his team does good work. I called Charles and he said not a problem go ahead and bring it in and they will look at it and let me know what they can do or what is going on with it as soon as they can. About two hours later I got a phone call with a resolution as to everything that was going on. Charles was extremely thorough and detailed with everything that he had found thankfully which wasn't very much. I am glad that I was able to find somewhere to bring my car even not being from this area I would rather travel here to have someone like Charles that I trust and his honest work on my car rather than be ripped off by a big box company or name brand company. Mannnnnn! These guys are GURRREATTTT!!!! I just recently got my vehicle majorly overhauled (I don't know if this the correct lango to you car enthusiasts and professionals...but you get it!). I had major issues with my vehicle. To the point of salvage and due to my strapped-for-cash issue *thanks economy* I had family attempt to fix my vehicle. My cousin, THE MECHANIC, or so I thought. Anyhow, the vehicle sat in they're drive way for 9 months, worse off rather than better. The original issue: it started overheating, and eventually burned almost everything that was something under that hood. Water pump, heads, engine harness and I *was told* the valves were all bent. Also, I would probably need a new engine. This was not the case- not entirely- and, thanks to Leadfoot for the REAL diagnosis. The only thing my cousin was doing was sucking my cash and coming up with every excuse under the roof to keep me paying his bills. JERK. Anyhow, I called a few places, checked out Yelp! reviewers, networked w/ friends and family, and this place was mentioned quite a few times. It's really hard to trust people with your valuables, and I can't say I didn't feel that way at first dropping my car off here, but something about talking to Charles and his dad just won me over instantly versus any other place I got an estimate from (I shopped two other places). And, they kept up being honest, reliable and just straight awesome the whole time my car was there. It is now running beautifully and she's back on the road purring!!!!! GOOD JOB MEN!!!! When you talk about transmissions, Charles is the person to speak to. I had a BMW 323i that had a reverse drum issue. Charles explained how these cars main problem was just that. Had the tranny repaired with no additional cost in my end with a 12 month warranty or 12,000 miles whichever would come first attached to it. The original quote that was given was the final price that I had to pay. Price was comparable to the other shops if not lower. What made the difference was that they offered a loaner car since I was having a major repair done at their shop( This impressed me!) The service was so good that I even had the water pump replaced at this shop as well. They are trusted when it comes to auto repair! A Father and Son combo that runs a reputable business. Charles not only talked with my Daughter about the transmission problems, he discussed with me the differences with the Ford transmissions of that era. He claimed he put in a new rebuilt transmission and had all this major work done to it, and was in tip top shape (even wrote up a personal receipt for his work per my request ofcourse). Apparently there was a leak not to my knowledge and caused the third gear to burn out. If the transmission was rebuilt then it shouldn't have had a leak. So either he lied about the work or his work is unreliable. Now I am out 1300 dollars (his estimated cost to rebuild it). Don't have the money so I'll have to eat the cost and sell the truck for less than half of what I paid for it. It's unfortunate because I really thought Chuck was an honest, reliable, and nice guy. I would never again buy another vehicle from him or utilize his service. Be honest and don't LIE or cheat your customers. I had a major repair that needed to be done (Mercedes transmission) well anyone who knows these cars knows that this can cost $8000-10,000 at the dealer, and even independent transmission shops want $4-5k to rebuild it. I called shops all over the bay area and Leadfoot had the best price. Now my car has high miles and I didnt want to invest in a rebuilt transmission, and wanted to go the cheaper route by buying a used transmission from a wrecked Mercedes and having someone install it. Again , Leadfoot had the best price by far, and was more than willing to install my customer supplied parts, which is something many repair shops will not do because they dont want to be responsible if the parts dont work. Fortunately the used parts did work, Charles at leadfoot got my Mercedes running like a champ again and I hope to get many more miles out of this transmission. Leadfoots bill was HUNDREDS cheaper than any of the quotes I got from other shops. I am about 40 miles away and had never used them before, but it was worth having my car towed there (thanks AAA and free 100 mile towing) and going to pick it up. I think they even advertise a free loaner car too if you need it. Try them out, they are good guys. If I could give a lower score I would. This man helped me out of a situation in which my truck need to be rescued & we agreed on a price and he had my pink slip. I owed a bit more after paying him back but like I said he had my pink slip. My daughter had a 2003 Mini Cooper with only 47,000 miles and he offered to hold it at the lot until I finished moving he instead put a lien on it and sold it after making repairs that were not requested. I'm sure he just wanted the car himself. But I'd rather he had taken the car we ha the agreement on. It was dirty and underhanded and although I used to think he was reputable I guess everyone has their seedy side. Interestingly enough I had paid $1200 for repairs to my truck for its $100,000 mile check up and he did only what he deemed necessary and not what I'd asked or the scheduled maintenance the dealership suggested. Because less than a year later my transmission and starter blew and I had to get a new one ( something he should have seen in the check up ) read more

I had them fix my slave and master cylinder which was leaking on my Eclipse (manual transmission) back in 2008 or so. When I got the car back the clutch was adjusted wrong. The clutch would slip really bad under medium throttle. Brought it back in the next day to have them re-adjust it again. Although it wasn't slipping anymore, I don't think it was quite adjusted right still since another mechanic which didn't work on my clutch at all told me it felt like the clutch was dragging (pedal down and the car creeps). Nice guys, but maybe they don't have much experience with adjusting clutches on Mitsubishi Eclipses. read more

Worst experience I've ever had. It was my bad luck to come across this mechanic. They were really unfriendly on the issue that had started to appear after the car was serviced there. They do not pay attention to what customers say, and instead, keep trying to say it's not their faults, even before they started inspection. Not a good attitude. Also, my impression is that they do not have much expertise in Japanese cars. read more
