After that, I went to another broker and got pre-approved almost immediately. I qualified for the home without any problems. All I can say is that they were not very professional. In my opinion, Simon seemed focused only on money. I felt that he was trying to earn commissions from both sides. When I decided not to use his broker, my offer was not accepted, and I was told that another offer had been accepted instead. Being a first time landlord, I have no experience in knowing how to screen tenants, knowing the rules, etc., especially when my background is not in the real estate and rental business. Having a busy work schedule also means that I won't likely be able to attend to the tenant's needs in a timely manner. This is where Good Life fills in the gaps for me. I emphasized that I had applied 48 hours ago and wanted to know what my application status was. He said he'd have someone call me back with an update. That evening no phone call, but a form email saying another tenant was signing a lease and I'd be notified if it falls through. I'm very certain I was the first to apply to this property, but they did not follow protocol of screening applications in the order of receipt. Then the lack of follow up and sounding completely clueless about the status of applications was extremely frustrating. I suppose I dodged a bullet not renting from Good Life. I feel bad for the property owner of the home as they would have gotten more in rent from me, and I was ready to sign the lease immediately. Good Life needs to learn better customer service support.
