The only thing that was a miss was the sweet and sour mocktail. They didn't have the peach mocktail for us to try so cant speak to that but the sweet and sour drink was basically over priced seltzer water. 12 bucks was too much! Used to come here quite often but the past weekend was my first time in a while and I was surprised to find out that they implemented a minimum spend amount in order to be seated?! I was taken back a bit that a bar in flushing is enforcing such a rule when very high end bars in Manhattan dont even do that. I'm not trying to say that Flushing isn't upscale but this isnt like a comedy club where such policies are acceptable/common. Moves like this come off as catering to your margins over your customers and simply in poor taste. I would say a majority of the people who come to leaf come from flushing/queens and are just looking for a place to hang out on the weekends. The last thing they want is to feel judged when trying to wind down after a rough week in their own 'home/neighborhood'. Very pretentious for a place that shouldnt be. The tougher pill to swallow was that by 10 oclock the place started emptying out significantly anyway, makes you think: did the doorman insist on the drink minimum after 10:30 to 11:00 when it was empty? Probably not, which just makes the move seem driven by greed. Food, service, and drinks were good. My review is only based on my experience walking in and being told that I have to spend a certain amount to sit down. I can garuntee that my party wouldve spent more money had we not been given those stipulations and had our mood ruined. Decided to go here for my birthday because it was close by. Easy to get too, just walk into the Hyatt, and use the elevator to the top floor. I wasn't expecting such a nice bar in flushing, you almost forget you aren't in Manhattan. The atmosphere is really nice. The music was nice, wasn't too loud, or distracting. Faded into the background nicely. It's not a massive place, but you can either stay inside, or go to the outside lounge area which was super cute. Gives you some nice views of the city. They have happy hour everyday from 6-8 which is amazing. Half of certain drinks, I recommend the mojitos. Also the food is super good for a bar. Definitely unique food, but not expensive. For food I highly recommend the sliders, fries and popcorn chicken. And for drinks, the yamagucci and Pineapple Express is spot on. Edit: You can make a reservation for a table on their website or on yelp for 12 people or less. Which I'd highly recommend if you have a larger party like mine, or going on a popular night/time. They will only allow that one week before you plan on coming. They will call you a day or so before, to confirm, and ask if you prefer inside or out. I only spent about 40 minutes at Leaf Bar with 2 friends on Tuesday night but my first experience was a great one. I'll have to return in order to provide a more in depth review. We stopped by because we were waiting for another friend to arrive for a dinner reservation nearby. We made it 15 minutes before happy hour ended so I ordered an $8 glass of Malbec. They offered a mezcal cocktail, white, red and rose selections on the happy hour menu. The wine was good, better than the subpar house wines you get at some bars and restaurants. My friend ordered the fries, which were crisp and tasty. The highlight of the visit was our server. He was extremely friendly. I really enjoyed the modern and cozy decor and convenient location. We were looking for an after dinner spot to extend the evening and have some drinks. After a quick search on Yelp, the Leaf Bar was the random pick. It's a rooftop bar, so we figured we would give it a shot. I wasn't sure what to expect, but was pleasantly surprised when I arrived. We were seated immediately, which was great for a Friday night. The rooftop portion was closed off for a private party, but there was enough seating the main area. Spacing is tight, but it isn't as invasive as it may seem. Between the big screens with sports and the music going, you'll only be able to hear the person you're talking to. The music definitely starting getting louder as the night went on. The bar wasn't overly crowded, but slowly getting turned up! Drinks were alright and cocktails a bit on the sweet side. A great hidden gem in Flushing! It can be quite difficult to find classy bars in queens but Leaf does a great job. Inconspicuously hidden on the roof of a hotel, the bar's mood is warm and inviting with twinkling lights strung and soft music to set the mood. Whether it's to simply grab a drink after work or hang out with friends, Leaf will always be a great go to option. My only issue with this bar is the service is a bit slow. I would have loved to order a few more drinks for my friends and I but finding a waitress and then waiting for drinks just takes a bit too long for me; however, the drinks themselves are absolutely delicious. read more

Decided to try this place out when I saw they were having a Chinese New Year Special (the details online were slightly confusing regarding the dates and times so ill post a photo): jan 27 to Feb 12. We chose the 2 leaf cocktails and the 2 small plates special for $28 (for small plates we chose the buffalo chicken wings and tempura mix). Based on the menu usually each of the leaf cocktails can be $12 each, and buffalo wings $11 and tempura $12. The food: I would say the small plates were standard bar fare. The atmosphere: it was relaxing and welcoming. It was towards the top of the Hyatt hotel. The rooftop area was not being utilized currently given its winter but the lights were still on and you could go outside for some air. It would have been nice if they had some heated igloos like some of the rooftop bars in Manhattan so you could still enjoy the rooftop during winter. The views aren't bad, especially the right side that has a view of the Manhattan skylight. It looks like it can be pretty nice during the warmer season when everything is opened up. Inside there was a "leaf" theme with an abstract tree as a column and some hanging plants on the mirror. The seating was a mix of stools, couches and the in-between. The service: quite friendly and attentive. Really it was the polar opposite to some of the other bars in Flushing (in a good way). I would come back, especially during specials. read more

Man has Flushing changed since I was a kid. New buildings are coming up everywhere with tons of new restaurants to try. I needed to look for a bar while waiting for some friends for dinner and found this gem on Yelp. A rooftop bar in Flushing! I didn't even know bars existed in Flushing. Situated in the Hyatt Hotel, I found this bar to be perfect for some casual drinks and wonderful cocktails. We came during happy hour on a Friday which lasted until 8pm which was great. $6 mojitos...Two please! We sat at the bar and were able to watch the bartenders at work. They knew exactly what they were doing, respecting the mixology of the drinks. We can also see a whole bunch of big ice cubes in the fridge for the fancy whiskey drinkers. We didn't order food but they had a great selection of Taiwanese finger foods and it always smelled great coming out of the kitchen. Overall, a great find. She came back after another 5 minutes, again no greeting, and asked us if we were ready to order. Any time we needed anything, we had to literally flag her down. She didn't check on us not one time, and at some point it felt like she was purposely ignoring us! The vibe as soon as you enter is modern but classy, and the ambiance is smooth as a baby's butt. Songs are a mix of old and new - played at the perfect volume. Would make an awesome place for after dinner drinks with a date or a bunch of friends. There's a bar area, tables, and even lounge chairs. And a sweet outdoor area with impressive views of the city. Their cocktail menu is extensive and unique with tons of different ingredients. But more importantly - they are delicious and won't break the bank. Tried the PCP, sidecar and Old Fashioned. Their draft/bottle menu ain't nothin to laugh at either. Good thing I had dinner reservations or would have tried everything. Service is impeccable and quite pleasant. Leaf is a laid-back restaurant on the roof of the Hyatt Hotel located in Forest Hills that will provide an experience and views to remember. To access the restaurant, you take elevator 4 to the roof which is a quick ride. When you first enter the restaurant, you are hit with a calm feeling of relaxation which is consistent with the Hyatt Hotel standards. You will notice the wood tones mixed in with the metal frame and large windows provide an overwhelming relaxing experience. The design reminds me of a penthouse, and they made great use of the space. Indoor and outdoor seating provides plenty of space for medium to large gatherings for drinks and the view from the rooftop makes it a great attraction. The food menu is limited with little variety, if you are comfortable with the menu or eat beforehand this could be a pleasant experience. I had the pineapple shrimp and the cheeseburger spring rolls. The shrimp was fresh and had a good flavor but needed a side. The spring rolls were ok but much better with the provided sauce. The drink menu looks interesting with their signature cocktails. I didn't get a chance to try any cocktails but if I am in the area and need a quick bite and drink, I would stop by again. read more

Any bar that places KaVaLan Whiskey near the center of the menu deserves at least four stars in my book. Taiwanese Whiskey is exceedingly underappreciated by the rest of the planet. The final star is rewarded for the rest of the venue. The way this place is run, its locality, its ambiance, et al., truly raises the proverbial bar for bars/lounges in the downtown Flushing area. It's difficult to describe, but what downtown Flushing needs, in my opinion, is a bar and lounge area that isn't that rowdy, not crowded by under aged drinkers, and not only focusing upon sports. This is it. Service was quite responsive, despite the awkwardness with which the waitress fumbled with the iPad ordering system, which was new that night. I had to update my review after the bad experience I had last night. I have been coming here for some time now, and was hoping for another fun evening but that didn't work out. I made a reservation and put in the notes that my guest had a medical issue that would require us to be at a high top table so that she could stand. As I was on my way to the restaurant, the hostess called me to confirm my reservation. While I had her on the phone I asked to confirm that they had my notes. She said there may be a wait for that table, which I was fine with. Upon our arrival we were taken to a cocktail table, and I explained that we needed the high top table which was empty at the time. She said that was only for parties of 4. That wasn't communicated on the phone. As we walked back to the hostess stand, my friend spoke to her to explain her situation and that it is a disability. They did have spare high top tables and stools, and could have easily switched out one of the lower cocktail tables for a high top to accommodate us, but the hostess asked the manager and apparently the manager said they couldn't do anything about it. We left at that point very disappointed. I am really annoyed that they would rather turn down service from a repeat customer rather than try to accommodate someone with a medical condition. read more

Came on a Thursday night and was pleasantly surprised at this place. It wasn't very crowded when my friend and I got there but things started to pick up around 10/11pm (music started to get loud around then too). Their Game On cocktail (which is an orange-infused bourbon drink) was interesting and enjoyable! We shared a popcorn chicken and an edamame with our drinks. The popcorn chicken was very flavorful! Rooftop bar and lounge offering nice views of the surrounding areas. This place has good ambiance and good drinks, although the drinks (while well composed) seemed a little light on the liquor. There is indoor and outdoor space. However, the outdoor space was occupied by smokers, which is annoying when one is just trying to enjoy a drink without having to inhale second hand smoke. Smoking = minus one star. The other annoyance is a minimum charge based upon the size of a party on a Saturday evening. No issue with this being stated clearly and I surely understand the issue, but this policy should not exist when the bar is not full or if a party arrives before a certain time. Many other bars have the same issue and I have never seen a minimum imposed at this places. Somewhat annoying and a bit off-putting. But more off-putting is when when the host or manager feels the need to state the drinks are moderately expensive which, of course, they are not (about $14), at least not as compared to places I typically frequent. I guess we did not dress sufficiently nice for him to assume we would go to such nice establishments. Maybe say, check out the menu if you haven't already or something to that effect. It was my first time going out to Flushing on a Saturday night and to my surprise - Leaf was a great place for drink. It was located on the 10th floor of the Hyatt Place hotel so you don't feel like you're in the hustle and bustle of Flushing --- which is a good thing. Drinks: Cocktails was averaging $13 a piece - which I thought was high considering that Manhattan prices. They have a range of wine, beer and ciders. I had one of the ciders and it was VERY sweet. The waiter gave us the pear cider by mistake so we got to try to the pear and passionfruit ones. I would pass on that. Music: Was obnoxiously loud. This was suppose to be a lounge but I could barely hear myself. The place was fairy empty but the music was pumping!!! Overall, It was nice to see this type of lounge in flushing. So I decided to try this lounge with a good friend of mine last night. They explained to us that we both had to spend 35 dollar minimum per person which is easy if you eat and drink. I liked the setup for social distancing and the ambiance is nice. The music selection was good too. They sat us inside of this plastic house because all of the outer tables were full. There were 2 other tables in it but spaced 6 feet so I guess it was ok. We waited for a server longer than we expected and my friend had to go look for him to take our order. Once we received our food. (Salt and pepper popcorn chicken, edamame, cheeseburger egg rolls are the bomb) and drinks, all was well. We then realized that the server was nowhere to be found when we wanted to grab the check. We stayed from 830ish to 947. So they are so busy they put your order in, drop it off and our server barely came back and asked if we wanted anything else. He also seemed a little nervous and dropped the plates when he left with them. A bit overwhelmed I guess. Oh, so when you get your bill they do not tell you that the hotel charges you automatic gratuity guess this lounge being inside of hotel (need to warn people about additional charges) or is a covid tax but our bill was 40 down the middle and $8 per person 20 % auto gratuity. This needs to be told to you in the beginning with the 35 minimum info. The menu only says auto gratuity with parties over 4- up to 6. We didn't argue about it but our server didn't deserve 16 dollars for barely serving us tbh. So all in all this place would be amazing pre covid but with all the extras it makes this an overpriced venue with a small selection of eats and just a lounge for drinks with friends read more

I had my son's 100 day celebration here during none business hour and the place is fantastic. Food is what you would expect from a bar lounge as I didn't do catering. Open bar was awesome. This place has a very nice ambiance and nice drink menu. The food options are limited which sucks because when people drink they like to order some food and hang. The view is beautiful and it's a big space. The only negative is that they have you order a minimum of 40 per person. Drinks are about $15 each and if each person orders $40 dollars worth then it's about 3 drinks each. If there was more food options then it's worth it but to go there just for drinks and be forced to spend a minimum is kind of ridiculous. Nice rooftop bar with a good view over Flushing. I really liked the ambience. It was so relaxed with the couches and oversized pillows. They had white lights hanging over us too - it felt like a dream! We came during happy hour so the drinks weren't as expensive as I anticipated - score! We also got the basil popcorn chicken - it was so good! Not too greasy, well seasoned, and we finished it within minutes. I would definitely recommend trying it. My only complaint was that the service was quite slow even though the place wasn't that crowded. It took a while for waitresses to get us another round or to get us our check (it took 20+ minutes so we picked it up from the bar). You go through the hotel lobby, find the floor to the lounge, and voilà, you made it! It's a pretty spacious rooftop and since we went on a Wednesday evening, there weren't that many people. But I can suspect that this place can get crowded from Thursday/Saturday nights. We were able to make it for their happy hour and we got glasses of white sangria for $7 each. Not gonna lie, I've tasted better white sangria and I click tell this was a little watered down. So next we opted for their summer 2016 cocktails, and I got the Southhampton Refresher and my boyfriend got the Pineapple Express. I could tell the bartender really put some effort into making our drinks look good, and taste good as well! The Pineapple Express came in a bronze pineapple-shaped cup, which I thought was pretty cool. The decor inside was very relaxed with the cool lights and comfy couches. There are some couches outside as well or you can sit on high tables. The view from the rooftop was really nice, and you get a view of Flushing from below and the NYC skyline! Came here with a group of fellow yelpers on a Wednesday night. The rooftop wasn't hard to find. You can either walk into the main lobby of the Hyatt and take the elevator to R for the rooftop or walk in from the entrance on prince street. If you go in from prince street then walk up the stairs then take the elevator to R. Once inside there's an option to sit outside or inside. The best seats in the house are by the window in the far outside corner. You get a view of NYC/Citi field. But both times I've been here, I sat inside since that seat was taken. This bar offers a nice menu of taiwanese dishes and unique drinks. It's not your typical burger and wings bar. They offer complimentary edamame which is seasoned with salt and cayenne. It's pretty tasty and has a nice kick to it. The popcorn chicken is my favorite and the portion size is huge. The beef noodle soup is actually good and a bit spicy, but a little on the smaller side. The tempura batter is light and crispy but I didn't understand why there were tempura lemons. It was a surprise in my mouth. Besides the great food, the drinks are strong. My favorite is the botany & bitters. Although they are priced from $12 a drink, they are quite fancy. They do serve regular beers and spirits, if that's what you're into. Happy hour has peach white sangria for $29 a pitcher. Overall, nice rooftop bar in Flushing & a nice place to bring a date! read more

I think this place is great, it's a nice new addition to the ever expanding Flushing area. This Taiwanese rooftop lounge is located in the new Hyatt Place and it offers great views of Citi Field and the surrounding area. The setup is great, it has a nice, trendy, interior and the drink selection is pretty respectable. The day I went, they also played a lot of great old school music, so my old ass was a fan. The food: The Hellcat- Jalapeño-infused Jose Cuervo Silver Tequila, agave nectar, fresh lime juice, cucumber, cilantro, smoked Red Alder sea salt. I really liked this drink, it was super refreshing and had a nice, clean, spicy finish. This is my drink of choice here. Salt and Pepper popcorn chicken- These are addictive especially with that magic Asian seasoning, what is it called again?
