I then found out she was trainer through a friends posts on FB but didn't really commit to wanting a trainer then. Then I received another sign when I saw a business card that had the 1stPhorm logo on it(a supplement company I started following in 2015). I picked it up and Lucy's name was on the other side and I thought oh wow she's also affiliated with 1stPhorm. I still toyed around with the idea of getting a trainer but still not committed yet. Early 2018 I decided to start making changes and getting healthier on my own. March I lost my uncle due to heart attack, I kicked my own ass for another few months going from 320 down to 265lbs with lots of cardio, crash dieting and energy drinks and fat burners. Guess what I fell off the wagon and started to gain my weight back. November 2018 I put my foot down and said nope not going back and contacted Lucy and said I'm ready to commit to changing my life. I gave you some of my back story because I was nervous about getting a trainer (how can I afford one?), I was lacking confidence in myself to go work out in a big box gym and not know what I was doing, I was afraid of being judged by others. I was unsure of how to build and structure routines and etc. It is an investment to get a trainer, eat right and etc but it is an investment in yourself that if you stick to and learn the ropes the investment is well worth the life style you will gain. So what happens when you decide to commit to Lucy and CabaFit? Day 1. We met up and talked about all the above and talked about my goals. We talked about my nutrition, current health issues and habits and then we assessed my current weight, measurements and posture. Lucy made the process professional, fun and she handled with care. ( for some I could see how this can be personal and hard news to hear, but you have to know where you're at in order to start). From there we hit the floor running. There is not one day of training that is duplicate of a prior session. Lucy keeps your body guessing what's next. (That is a good thing and you'll learn why). She will also adjust your meal plans throughout your training with her, you'll learn how food is now used as fuel for your body vs fuel for comfort. So, It took me awhile to get time in my schedule to go in, and man, am I glad I did!!! I am somewhat of an impulsive person and I have prior kickboxing experience but when they told me about the 6 week challenge I knew I would need to do something drastic and impulsive to get my butt back in gear. I clicked with Jules the first day I spoke with her and was inspired by her personal weight loss journey. This gym is more than just a place to sweat. It's a judgement free zone with the support of a "family" type community! Jules paired me with a great coach, Athena for my challenge who has also inspired me and had nothing but encouragement and help for me every time I see her! Im sorry to see reviews here that say they were unhappy with terminating their memberships, IT sucks to be unwell and then feel like you were treated unfairly, but there are contracts for gyms, and Covid is a new thing-don't care if they say it's here to stay-you sign a contract you have to read the fine print, and if Covid wasn't in it? I continued my work outs through 8 months of pregnancy and was back 8 weeks post-partum. First and foremost, this activity level was cleared by my doctor and I would never have engaged in anything that would put me at risk or that made me uncomfortable. The trainers at Fit180 were extremely knowledgeable about workouts that were appropriate during, and after, pregnancy. I am so very thankful to the Fit180 team for keeping me healthy throughout that process. Once gyms and fitness centers were shut down due to growing concerns over Covid-19, Fit180 was quick to offer live virtual training sessions. I was skeptical to be honest. I have minimal equipment at home and I knew there were loads of free workouts available online. But those free workouts have always been available, and I didn't do them because there was zero accountability. I signed up for two live sessions that first week and was pleasantly surprised at what a GREAT workout I received, just as tough as the workouts in the gym. The trainers keep the workouts interesting, no redundancy, despite the obvious limitations. I don't know how long this quarantine will last, but I will absolutely keep up my virtual sessions. My son in California started researching Pilates studios in Dallas and called to tell me Park Cities was where I needed to go. I talked to a close friend that I knew went there and called to make an appointment. I have recently had knee replacement surgery and have been told that I am at a level of recovery that most people do not see until 6 weeks or more. I attribute much of this to the Pilates that I have learned and practice from my patient and caring instructor Amy Smith.
