Leander Beer Market is a solid watering hole in Leander. As the name implies they are all about that beer. The have 8 taps and the night we dined in 6 were being used. The taps were pretty much dominate by Texas brews. They also have a huge cooler full of craft beers. Want Shiner? You will need to walk next door to their cafe. You can get a mix and match 6 pack to go for $15. As a wine drinker and a generally healthy eater read this review as 2 stars. If you love a good beer selection with Italian fare then read this as a 3 1/2 star review. For wine they have BV coastal. I opted for the Sauvignon blanc and later the red zinfindel. I am not a fan of BV at all but appreciate they have wine options. I couldn't finish the red zin as the tanins started giving me a headache. I also ordered the bruschetta. Everything seemed fresh but way too oily. I am used to bruschetta being 6-8 pieces of baguette topped with a tomato, red onion and cheese concoction. This was a rare moment when I was not amused with a deconstructed plate of food. The bruschetta is a huge pile of sliced baguette drenched with oil and a side of said concoction also full to the brim with oil. It felt like I was just swallowing olive oil for dinner. Jesse ordered the generously portioned calzone stuffed with flavorful Italian sausage, gooey cheese, perfectly cooked dough and a side of marinara sauce. Since the calzone was so awesome I was not surprised to learn that the Leander Beer Market is owned by the same folks behind Luigi's. While the atmosphere in the bar area is a bit dismal their neighboring cafe is pretty cool! They have live music on Friday nights in the cafe and Karaoke which should start soon on Thursday nights. If they beef up their wine selection to pair with their Italian fare then I would definitely return. read more

Happy to see a beer bar in Leander. Gyros were tasty. They have a lot of bottles and a surprising selection for a small bar in a small town. They even had great pricing on everything. However, I'm rating 3 stars because the staff kinda ruin the atmosphere and the experience. The male bartender did not know beer very well or their own selection and conversation with the staff about beer was stressed and uncomfortable. The male bartender needs to be replaced with someone more knowledge about beer and who cares a little more about working there. He routinely could not find bottles patrons were ordering when I was staring right at them in the cooler. I will go back because it has promise, but the staff needs to train up or be replaced. read more

This was my first time to eat at LBM and sadly, I was very unimpressed. The reviews brought me in, but after my experience I am a little confused as to the positive reviews. Granted, if you want to just get a drink, sit in a chair and talk with your friends - this is a good place. However, I went here to eat, and that was my mistake. All seating is SELF-SEATING, but there are no signs (that I could see) - which made for an odd experience. We wandered around for a minute, and then finally sat on the front porch. ORDERING is a mess. This place has a TON of tables, but there are no waitresses. All orders are to be made at the bar. The downside to this process is that THE BAR IS VERY BUSY AND THE BAR TENDERS ARE BUSY. Also, there is no area to specifically place an order. You just have to squeeze between two patrons and wave down the bar tender. Not a very good user experience. THE FOOD is not as advertised. For instance, on the appetizer menu we ordered the Jalapeno Pesto Fries which are described as "French fries cut fresh and deep fried". However, these are frozen fries and the only "fresh cut" is them "freshly" cutting open the plastic bag of fries with scissors. Not cool. The fried ravioli is also not as advertised. Again, the menu says, "raviolis coated in a simple batter" which to me sounds like they are coated IN HOUSE. They are not. Frozen as well. Not cool, either. FINALLY, THE STAFF just did not seem excited to be working at LBM. Whoever the owner(s) are - they need to know this. If I owned a restaurant, I would want my staff to be friendly, welcoming, helpful and courteous. I always find it odd to feel like I am inconveniencing the staff by ordering food and spending money. I am sure there are a few staff members who do an excellent job (there would have to be), but the ones I ran into were the main reason I am writing this review. All in all, a horrible ordering process, seating process and misleading food descriptions are nothing compared to feeling like the staff just doesn't want you there. I had high hopes, and I would definitely try it again - but I do hope to see a few things adjusted when I do. I really appreciate the concept of a local spot that sells good beer, but for the time willing, I'm going to be driving a little further for better service. read more

Just moved to Leander after living in Austin for almost 20 years and was in desperate need of a new local. I stumbled on this place the other day and am so glad I did. The atmosphere is laid back and really cool. They have a networked jukebox that you can pull up just about anything on (I love listening to The Pogues and Tom Waits when I drink, and this place lets me do that), and an AMAZING selection of beer at a very reasonable price. I have only been once so far but am very much looking forward to going back and going back often. read more

For a little place that opened for the first time barely 2 hours ago I was very impressed. For those of you who know of Luigi's these are the same people, and they brought some of their great Italian food, in pub form of course, with them. This place is like a fine cask aged Belgian ale. It just keeps getting better with age. They are truly listening and learning. The beer rotates on a daily basis, they are always getting something new. Not to mention that the new to beer bartenders are light years ahead of where they were when they opened. We were there 2 weeks ago for the comedy. The last 2 comics sucked big time. Almost walked out. It was in the outside patio and it was hot. But the food was really good. Just got back from my first visit to the LBM, and I have to agree with other posters here. The owner/manager was on a laptop and his smartphone the whole time we were inside. For a place that pushes interaction, they might want to practice what they preach. On to the beer. SPS. That stands for Short Pours Suck. I had three beers, all poured short. Another reviewer here posted a pic of his Dogfish Head, and take a look at it, if you don't know what a short pour is. I didn't come in for foam, and I drove past some places, (The League, Brooklyn Heights, Bellini's, Dig Pub), to get there that don't short pour. Not cool. The good things are that the waitress/bartender was very pleasant, and the food wasn't bad at all. So some bad, some good, so average grade. read more

There is a wide variety of beer and a full bar with reasonable prices. Clean, cozy and very relaxing. Only thing I wish they had is table service. The first thing I noticed about this place is the friendly, inviting atmosphere. Then, I smelled the food. This place is to die for. Fantastic addition to Leander! Huge beer selection at great prices. Currently all beers on tap at 3.50 and all bottles are 4. TVs throughout, TV on patio, pool table on patio. They have the NFL package too. The best part though is the food! Not your typical bad, greasy bar food. The menu is based off of the local restaurant "Luigi's".
