We were in Pflugerville on business and took the opportunity to visit Prost. They offer something for everyone and they do it well. There are wonderful heavy German-style brews, lighter offerings such as a Pils and a Kolsch, and even a sour. There are non-beer options like cider, seltzer, and wine. When we were there they had a few interesting collaborations and the two that caught my eye were with Meanwhile & Obsidian. Digression alert: If you like great beers and food trucks visit Meanwhile. Trek to Leander and visit Obsidian if you want good beer, cocktails, and pizza. I thoroughly enjoyed their Octoberfest as it was a classic O-fest beer. Plus 1 quaffed their Pilsner and enjoyed the crisp finish. Here is a new one, for me, Suzuka, a Japanese rice lager. I did a tasting and it was different but good. It drank pretty smooth to the taste with a tad bit of hops. Our bartender was very knowledgeable and took the time to review their offerings and provide multiple samples. The setup is different with production on the first floor and the tasting room on the second. The food truck is outback and back down a flight of stairs. There is an elevator available. I wish these folks were closer as they would be in my brew pub rotation. If you are in the area do stop by and support local as these guys got it going on! read more

Pflugerville isn't thaaaaaaat far from Austin! It's worth stopping in when you're in the area. This place has a Germany meets Tx car racing feel. The beertender knew his product and was happy to take his time helping us decide. The beers were all pretty good; my favorite was the IPA- fruity, medium bodied, light enough to be refreshing in the heat of the day. Food (standard tacos and burgers, but it was a darn good burger) is available out back. The downside: it is not ADA friendly. You can't get to the bar without using the stairs. read more

Visited this spot as a stamp on our Barks for Beers passport. The beer and location were great! We especially liked the food truck on site (Auzzy's) and ordered wings and a bacon wrapped hotdog. Unfortunately service fell short. The bartender had a bad attitude and made everyone visiting feel like he was too busy or above serving them. All the beers had a large head of about 3 in. or more. We enjoyed the beers so we got more than our free one on our passport but unfortunately won't return due to the service. We heard him arguing with several patrons and it was an uneasy vibe. read more

Fun new brewery in the downtown Pflugerville. The bar is mainly upstairs since the brewery vats are down stairs. There are lots of beer options along with some cider, wine and cocktails. According to my husband, the beer is good and my Paloma hard seltzer was good. There are large TVs with sports and trivia running on the smaller ones. The brewery doesn't serve their own food but there is a food truck in the back that provides food. Service was fast and helpful. This is a great addition to the downtown options. Went to Prost last night for the first time and it didn't disappoint. It's a cozy environment, clean and beautifully designed and decorated. The employees were friendly and helpful- willing to allow people to sample their beers and give recommendations. They also have ciders and wine too so if you're not a beer fan, they have other options. We ordered from the food truck that is situated out back- you can scan QR codes on the menus in the taproom or walk down to order. Food came out pretty quickly and it was different and delicious. Husband devoured the hot dog with queso in a pretzel bun. I shared the chicken street tacos (full of flavor and each one was packed with chicken) and the loaded fries with hamburger meat with my sister. It was plenty to share and the fries tasted like a Big Mac- definitely different and unique so two thumbs up for that! They give 15% military discount at the taproom and it seems like they have different events and activities each night of the week. Tonight's service with their soft opening for PCDC - Pflugerville Community Development Corporation was a success. It was an awesome experience to learn about the owners and their brewery. We definitely received the VIP tour of the actual brewery. I was fortunate enough to come as a plus one with my wife who works for the PCDC. The ambiance of this place is awesome and beautiful. There is plenty of seating inside and soon to be outside as well. It is a historic building so this place has a lot of history. The owners went into detail about how old the building is and what it is used to be back in the 1800s. During the tour of their brewery they went explain how their beer was made and the amount of time it takes to make the perfect brew. I was honestly intrigued about the process. I never knew the process was that complicated. When you walk into the building you will see their brewery to the left and their pub is up the stairs to the right. They will have their own brew on taps and will have a lot more of other brews to offer besides their own. But I was really impressed with their own brew they gave us. Their Cherry Sour was a bit tarty at first (not for me though), but after a few sips you enjoy the flavor. It was very smooth in my opinion. Their hefeweizen brew is not your average hefeweizen, but it was really good and tasty. Their German-style Pilsner was very smooth and delicious. They have a huge deck and patio in the rear of the building. The double steel rear doors are a bit heavy to open. I can see a lot of folks who might not like that. But you get used to them as you walk in and out of the deck/patio area. They also have an elevator available for folks who cannot walk a lot of stairs. The layout of the facility was pretty well thought out for what they could do for a historic building. They definitely kept a lot of the original look with a very beautiful modern touch. There are plenty of TVs all around the building so I can see potential of this place showing all the games throughout the sports season. The staff and the owners are awesome, very friendly, and communicate well with their customers. One of the bar tenders explained that's one thing he loved about the place. It was going to allow him to communicate with customers more compared to other places he has worked as a bar tender. The owners did say they are going to offer a food truck service as well in the future. I just very happy to see Pflugerville growing with a locally owned brewery. It's something the downtown has been needing for quite sometime to spruce things up a bit. read more

Let me start by saying that I love German-style beers and have been left disappointed in the German beer game, especially considering Texas roots. HOWEVER, Prost Alehouse left me impressed. My wife and I only had time for a beer but their Dopplebock (Niederwald) and their Kolsch (Germany is Calling) were on point. Pflguerville is a helluva trek for us, but we plan on going back next time we are in the area. I should add that the space, the glassware, logo, and merch were very much my style. My only complaint (which isn't about the brewery really) is about the food truck offerings. If you're gonna be a German style alehouse, with a name like "Prost", get some more German food, not burgers, hot dogs, and tacos. I'm talking pretzels, schnitzels, brats. A "Friday Brat Special" doesn't quite cut the mustard. Food rant over. The service was stellar and we look forward to heading back. read more

Food was good, very friendly staff but I've gotta deduct one for the weird ordering system. In theory it should work, find a table, scan the QR code on the table menu and order your first drink, in practice it just doesn't. The poor servers end up doing tech support for old people and just taking their order the "old fashioned way". It's not entirely the old folks fault either, I've worked in IT for over 20 years and the app is just plain terrible. The manager made it a point to come to each table and chat. I brought up my concerns about the app and those TX slot/scam machines upstairs and he was very receptive. The atmosphere is nice, a bit loud, outside patio has misters and fans. Check it out, Pflugerville needs more places like this. Just be aware of the ordering procedure and you'll have a great time. read more

Beautiful building which they clearly spent a lot of money on design and decor. Very disappointing beer quality. All the inhouse beers I tried were mediocre to poorly done. I had 4 different types, all of which tasted like macro beers of each variety (hefeweizen, pilsner, kolsch, and schwarzbier). Reminds me of the store branded Trader Joe's beer, Simpler Times or Gordon Biersch variety packs. Pints are $7 and up. Mystery brand red and white wines for $10 a glass. I'm bummed as I was really hoping to like thisplace. Pflugerville desperately needs a good brewery and general place to hangout.l read more
