I purchased a custom made couch from The Luxury of Leather approximately 15 years ago and the leather and support had naturally worn over time. My husband and I searched high and low for another leather couch to replace our old one, but we couldn't find one that we liked as much as our old couch. My dog chewed off half of a seat cover of my leather sectional. I was devastated. I bought this couch 10+ years ago when I lived in Florida, and it as had held up great with several pets. I really didn't want to have to buy a new couch. I am SO GLAD I found Hernan at the Leather Hospital. He just delivered the repaired half of my sectional to me today, and it looks brand new!! He completely replaced the seat tops of the three cushions and restuffed the whole thing, for a really great price. The stitching work exactly matches what was there before and what is on the other section. Now I need to have the other half done so it will look just as good... The work is excellent. Went in last week to drop off a backpack to have the straps repaired. I was immediately taken aback by the locked doors and big warning sign that greeted me although I shouldn't have been considering I had a homeless person come and beat on my window in the parking lot. Once I got in, Hernan said he could fix the straps and suggested adding rivets to strengthen it and after consulting with my daughter who owns the backpack she agreed that that would be a good idea and I asked him to do that. Fast forward to a week later, he had mentioned he would call but didn't so I called and was told it was ready and I could come get it. I said I could come by 2 1/2 hours later than our call and was told that "the truck is packed" and "I may not be there, I don't know, you should call first". No problem, I change my plans and call back 30 min later and head over after stopping for cash since that is all he takes apparently. When I get there I am immediately told that he didn't put the rivets because it would "tear" but then only when I ask about shouldn't the cost be less (charged $95 to re-sew straps onto the backpack) he said "no". I then was told that I didn't say that I wanted rivets (a COMPLETE LIE) and he would have to charge me more to do that. Bottom line is this is a shady place, no receipt, my "pick up slip" was written on a post it note (thank goodness I didn't lose it!), all cash, dog warning sign, you name it. This Eames chair was a Fathers Day present to me in 1981. It has been in our family ever since. Time and wear through those years took its toll on the original leather covering. For several years I often spoke of recovering but, was hesitant and feared shoddy workmanship. Sometime ago I spotted a flatbed truck with a model of a cow upon it. Curiosity got the best of me. Hernan took on a repair that others had refused to even consider. I'd bought a used Hartman suite case of Ebay and the leather wrap had been taken off of the pull handle by the prior owner. He took the challenge, we looked though his collection of leathers and matched a scrap to the luggage. A week later and I've got a $65 piece of luggage that looks like $500! I couldn't be happier!!! Hernan is a craftsman that takes great pride in his work. He's also a really nice guy! It's refreshing to find someone who takes such pride in his work and is willing to take on small jobs. This place is a total rip off. Came to my house and required $800 to get the "leather hide" died to our color. That was three months ago and all I get when I call are lies and misdirection. "We'll be there Thursday," but they don't show. Turns out that the guy Michael Zapata did not get the hide died they just stole my money. I am filing felony theft charges and suing in court. They may have been good at some point in the past but don't waste your money in 2021. This is a pre-work rating as I just dropped my bag off at his shop. Seems like a great guy and when I told him I didn't really care that much as it is an outdoor camera bag he looked at me funny. He said he works to make return customers. So we will see. His dogs are loud when you first come to the door but don't be intimidated. Then he continued to say that if I did not give him the job, then he will have to charge me for the trip charge. Can't say enough good things about this place! I took a very special 1970's motorcycle jacket to be repaired and conditioned after reading other reviews. The jacket is a family heirloom that belonged to my dad and was passed on to my uncle and now me. My husband has been wearing it for years and as a birthday present I wanted to have it fixed up for him. They totally relined it, replaced the collar and conditioned it yet managed to keep the integrity of the original jacket, which was very important to me. They even sewed back in the original label!!! If I could give zero stars I would. This guy is a scammer. He charges $35 to personally see the project himself as if we don't live in a day and age where pictures are common. He absolutely refuses to see pictures of the project. So I trusted the reviews and got him to come to my home, and he basically told me he can't do the job. When I asked if he can do anything he basically said throw away your piece of furniture. I asked again and he was willing to fix it but quoted me a ridiculous amount. ***THIEF! BAD BUSINESS***Terrible service. Worst customer service ever. I have 2 antique sofas that have been in my family for 30+ years. Both in great condition, just need to reupholster the fabric. The owner, Michael came to my home, agreed the furniture was in good condition, offered to do the work and gave me a quote. He stated that he required a deposit of half before he can get started and it will be completed in 4-6 weeks. I picked out the leather and paid him half the money the same day. Michael and his wife picked up my furniture a week later, on January 27, 2022. Two weeks later I called to check if he got the hide and started. He told me it would take a couple of weeks, he was waiting on the leather hide. I called to check the status a couple of weeks later and he said he was doing work at a club, which became his excuse over the next few months. From March through August he stopped answering my calls, stopped responding to my text messages nor returned any calls if I was able to leave a voicemail, since his voicemail is always full. Then on September 2, 2022, I finally received a call from him, he was intoxicated, cursing me and being disrespectful. I went to his place of business a week later, demanded to see my furniture. My furniture was untouched, NOTHING was done. He didn't start it, did not order the leather hide. I requested a refund and for my furniture to be returned to my home. On September 20, 2022 he returned my furniture, BUT NOT MY MONEY. Stated he did not have it. As of today, November 15th, I haven't received anything from him and had to get my attorney involved to file a lawsuit. Michael is a liar and thief. read more

BEWARE! Horrible experience and after 8 months our leather furniture has still not been repaired, returned or replaced! We contracted with Herman to do a specific job, but, without our permission, he changed our work order and created 2 two-tone sofas! We were shocked! Not only is it not what we ordered, but he was never supposed to change the leather on the cushions or the front of one of the sofas! We LOVED our original leather, but it is now gone and our furniture is ruined. Herman has readily admitted via numerous phone calls, text messages and in person that he breached our contract, but has done nothing to make it right and we have been without furniture in our family room for 8 long months. To date, he has not accepted any of the solutions we have offered. He has been contacted by the BBB on our behalf, but after 30 days, he did not respond. He has also been contacted by our attorney in an attempt to settle this matter quickly and amicably, but as of today he is still holding our deposit as well as our furniture. After exhausting all reasonable measures to settle this matter outside of a courtroom, we'll now be forced to file a lawsuit. read more

After quite a bit of searching I found only 1 who said he might be able to fix but it was going to cost us much more than buying a new one. We selected Hernan due to the reviews online and I agree that this place is the BEST kept secret. Hernan has truly talented and his type of work quality is extremely difficult to find. Not only did condition the existing leather, he replaced a significant amount of leather on the sofa - the leather he chose being an ideal match and superb quality. When discussing how we no longer used the love seat, he recommended that repurpose and make a chair - the result is outstanding. Gorgeous leather and overall beautiful piece of furniture. This is one of the few times I've ever posted a review in Yelp but they were so great I had to share my experience. I called the leather hospital based on reviews from Yelp and was extremely pleased with their service! My couch and ottoman had been completely wrecked by my dog and when I called the leather hospital Herman was able to come that day to give me an estimate (in the evening which was very convenient because I'm never home during the day). He called when he was on his way and showed up exactly on time. He took both pieces with him that day but because of the extremely tight fit of the couch through the doorway it took two guys at least half an hour to get it out. They were so great though! They took out the inside of the pull out couch and even ended up taking the door off the frame. And through it all they never complained (and didn't increase the cost). They had such a great attitude and Herman even took a picture of the couch when it was stuck in the doorway. When they finally got the couch out and left, one of the guys ran back in a few minutes later to let me know they had forgotten to close the garage door when they were trying to figure out the best way to take the couch out (which I had already realized but I appreciated him coming back to tell me). When they came back to deliver the fixed pieces (very soon after!) there were three guys and the pieces were wrapped carefully to avoid scratching them when squeezing them back through the doorway. The pieces looked great and my husband was so impressed! On top of it all they left the room spotless. They put the bed back into the pull out couch and of course put the door back! Overall Herman and his team were great from start to finish and I'd definitely use them again (though hopefully my dog stays away from the fixed furniture!) read more

First of all I'll begin with the owner Hernan. He approached me like we had done business before and It was my first time there. Very professional and extremely knowledgeable about his line of work. Very nice guy and gave me all his attention while addressing the custom work I was about to request. I can't express enough how awesome his work turned out!!. I came to him wanting extreme custom work for the complete interior of my car. At one point I even thought the work was impossible. Hernan made it happen! !. When I say custom work I mean custom work. Especially when I requested purple leather. He went out of his way and reassured me that he would go out of his way to make sure he located the specific color I requested. He produced! His crew produced. My car completely looks like a different car thanks to leather hospital. I went to many places for my custom work to get prices and to see if it could even be done. Many of them said it couldn't be done and the 2 places that said they could wanted my life savings for the work. Leather hospital not only did an outstanding job but the price that I paid for that quality of leather and work was best by far. I'm talking about thousands less!! My whole interior was done in a timely manner when I thought it would take months to complete due to the amount of work. Hernan also stayed in touch with me as the work progressed. He didn't do any work at all without consulting me first including sending me pictured when I requested them. I know this place is by far the best in the business and I will never go anywhere else.
