I dropped off a leather backpack two weeks in advance for a time-sensitive repair needed for an upcoming trip. I was told it would be ready around August 15th but that they would let me know when it was completed. When I called the day before, I was assured the bag was currently being worked on and I'd receive a completion text by end of day. That text never came. I called back the next morning and spoke with the same employee who took my original drop-off. He couldn't locate my ticket number, had to ask for a visual description, and then informed me work hadn't even started. When I brought up the conflicting update I received the day prior, his demeanor completely shifted. He became extremely rude, dismissive, and defensive, claiming "the guy" who does repairs doesn't work weekends and could not offer any assurance or clear timeline. When I stated I'd rather just pick up my bag and go elsewhere, he gave a careless "okie dokie." Curiously, while I was en route to collect it, he called back with a total change of tone--apologizing for his behavior and promising it would be done by Monday. My experience with this shoe repair place was good. I had two pairs of shoes that needed to be glued. One pair, he was able to fix. The other pair, he let me know that it was unfixable because the shoes were vinyl. He said that gluing vinyl shoes wouldn't last long. For those, I ended up taking them somewhere else. For the shoes that he did repair, the work came out nice. He does a really good job of repairing shoes, making them look like new. It took maybe a week for him to complete the repairs. If I could give this place no stars I absolutely would. After reading pretty good reviews about this place I decided to stop by. My partner and I walked into the shop at 2 today. No line. No wait. We walked in, an older gray haired gentleman looked up at us and then looked down. No hello, no nothing. So we're like okay, what's his problem? Brushing it off, I walked up to the counter, waited a few minutes then greeted the guy with "good afternoon". I had a positive experience at this location. When I called to verify directions, the person on the phone was helpful and had a friendly tone. When I arrived, I also found the man at the counter friendly and helpful as he explained my options for the requested repair. I replaced the elastic band at the back of my shoes and added protective soles. I loved the fact that the soles are a seamless match to the original Louboutins. Dropped off some heels that were chewed up by my dog. The gentleman who took my shoes seemed very knowledgeable and told me that I needed to do several repairs (heel rewrapped, new heel tips, replace sole, etc.) I'm really happy with the repairs. They did everything they said they would and it was well worth the amount paid. I will return with any other shoe repairs I need in the future. I would not recommend this place to my worst enemy. That man that works in there is the absolute scum of the earth. I brought in my white sneakers to get cleaned. The white sneakers are primarily leather, with a thin suede ring that goes all the way around the shoe just above the sole. They were somewhat dirty so I decided to give this place a try to clean them. I dropped them off and came back a week later to pick them up. He gave them back to me with the suede ring bright yellow! The suede was previously slightly dirty, I wouldn't even say brown just slightly dirtied white. And he gave them back freaking bright yellow. Furthermore, there was a giant brown/yellow mark on the heel from where the white leather was severely discolored. Upon receiving my shoes back, I immediately asked "What is this mark. This wasn't there before." Without a half second of hesitation, he fired back to me "It seems like you think I did it on purpose?" I said "dude what? I don't think you did it on purpose what are you talking about. There's just this mark and I'm asking about it." "Well it sure sounds like you think I did it on purpose" he said with a nasty smirk. "Dude I'm not saying you did it on purpose I just want you to address it and see if you can fix it because this wasn't there before." After a few minutes of him continuing to accuse me of accusing him he did it on purpose, I accepted the fact that this man is not capable of having a logical or respectful interaction with me so I stopped asking what the mark was and just asked "how much would you charge to fix it?" "$75". HA HA HA. I said "so this mark wasn't there before, I took them to you to get cleaned, I receive them back in far worse condition, and you're going to charge me an additional $75 to fix what you messed up." (Original price was $45). He responded, "I can't do it for free." At this point I am extremely frustrated so I paid my $45, took my shoes and left. The quality of the work seems to be very good, no excess residue was detectable on the shoes and I never saw any rub off on the cloth sacks I keep them in. I interacted with three people during my two visits to The Cobbler and all of them were friendly and helpful. They also have a good selection of shoe care products and laces. I will exercise my First Amendment right under the United States Constitution with this review. The lady (I believe, Dennis Geddie because I requested a business card) behind the counter told me when I gave the company my shoe that the sound of an unseal relevant to air would be fixed after they replaced the sole protector. The problem was not fixed. And I had to question Roger so I could obtain more information that maybe the problem is not the bottom but the top of the shoe. To make a long story short after I asked Roger how confident based on probability and percentages that if I paid them, approximately $50.00, to replace the sole, welt and heel, as that is what he told me what would be needed. That the problem would be fixed? He told me 50-50. Logically, there are only a limited number of causes to this problem. The environment of the company reminded me of Whites Only. I'm glad those days are legally over. My experience is that some Anglo's can be respectful and some not. The two White individuals behind the counter were rude and disrespectful. read more

This is my favorite shoe repair shop in the DFW area. They can repair a wide range of shoes.. including high end designer shoes for reasonable prices. I take my Louboutins here to have them put on a red leather out sole to extend the life of the shoe. The man working the counter at this shop is an absolute gem! I called in the morning to ask if they'd be able to punch two holes in my belt. Over the phone I was told it was doable and could be done the same day. I arrived at The Cobbler at 5:20 pm, he was able to get me out in less than 5 minutes! The new holes are spaced perfectly and identical to the original holes in my belt. Went here on a recommendation from a friend. Was looking for a specific sole guard for some loafers - even called ahead a week or so ago to confirm they would be able to do what I was looking for. Brought it in today and was told there is no guarantee on the specific sole guard they confirmed when I called ahead and wouldn't be able to make a phone call to me because they would be too busy. If you're looking for the red mirror sole guards for Louboutins, wouldn't recommend this place. He literally put it down on the counter. I could hear him in the background arguing with a customer. I waited about 5 minutes then hung up and figured I'd call back later. I called back about 10 minutes later assuming he'd be done with the customer he was arguing with. He answered the phone and rather than say "hello" he said "ma'am I'm with a customer!" Wow. I have taken shoes in 4 different times since it changed hands and every time a customer is in the store complaining about their crappy workmanship. The people working the counter have a very condescending attitude. They totally screwed up a pair of my shoes so bad I did not want them to "fix" it. I took them elsewhere. Once upon a time this used to be an exceptional shop where I went for all of my shoe repair needs. As in most cases, "once upon a time' implies the story will be long and such is the case with this review. Recently the shop was sold and has new owners and staff working at it. More to come on them later. For openers, my repairs almost always consist of heel replacements; so fairly straight forward work when it comes to shoes. This said, under the previous ownership the craftsmanship demonstrated used to greatly exceed what I experienced at other shops in the surrounding area. What I appreciated most was their attention to detail. In addition to the repair being perfect, all of my shoes were returned with a nice shine and more importantly without polish on the hardware or in the seams. Having used other shops I know this attention to detail was not the norm. The shop was always very clean and organized. The staff was super friendly and my shoes were always ready when they were supposed to be. Superb service for an excellent price is what The Cobbler stood for under the previous ownership. Easily a 5 star place for me. Fast forward to my most recent visit (~1 month ago) which was after the ownership changed. As in previous visits I clearly stated when I planned to pick up my shoes. Unlike past visits I arrived the following week to pick up my shoes, and the woman working the front counter looked at my ticket and without checking told me "they're not ready; come back after 2pm". For a number of reasons this was unacceptable so I insisted she check. And what do you know, my shoes were ready. The work was performed as requested and my shoes looked great. Minus the attitude of the woman at the front counter; things seemed consistent to how business was handled under the previous owner. Since I was stopping by to get my shoes, a friend asked me to pick up their shoes. Being the nice guy, I said sure. Those shoes were supposed to have been ready 3 days before mine so this definitely should not be an issue. Guess which shoes were not ready? Not only were they not ready, the work had not started. Since I was going to be in the area for another hour or so I asked if that might be ready within this time-frame. I was told maybe but to call and check before stopping by. After about an hour I called and spoke with this same woman to check the status. She told me they would be ready by 2pm and I could come by then. I informed her that I would just stop by Monday evening to pick-up shoes up. My stop on Monday evening resulted in further disappointment and frustration. Similar to my Saturday visit I was 'greeted' by the same woman at the front counter. I immediately became concerned as she started asking for additional information on the shoes (type of shoe, color, etc). After a few minutes of this I was asked to have a seat as they were 'looking for the shoes'. After ~10-15 minutes she and another person working there were able to locate the shoes and to my surprise, they were not ready. Not only were they not ready, the work had not been started. I reminded the woman of our phone discussion on Saturday and she immediately became defensive and spoke to me as if it was my fault they were not ready. Needless to say I was a little perturbed by the entire situation and was prepared to take the unrepaired shoes with me. The woman assured me that if I left them they would be ready by Thursday (1 week later than promised). Having lost all confidence in this woman's word, I asked if the cost would be discounted as they were 1 week late, multiple trips to the shop, etc. She immediately explained that couldn't be done and went into a 'song and dance' on how she would have to get it approved etc. To cut this short, the shoes were ready on Thursday and the price ended up being discounted 10%. On this visit there was a man working the front counter who was personable and engaging. Other than making multiple trips there and the shoes being finished 1 week late, talking with him made it seem like my many visits over the past 2-3 years. The quality of the work matched what I was accustomed to. This said, I'm still undecided if I will continue using The Cobbler. Misplaced shoes, failure to deliver on their commitment (a couple of times) are reason enough not to return. Add to this the woman with the attitude and my first impression of the new ownership is not favorable. Had this been my only experience with The Cobbler this would have been a 1 star review and I definitely would not return. Thanks to 3+ years of superb service (5 Star service) and that I'm hopeful what I experienced is a startup issue(s) for the new ownership, I'm giving this review 3 Stars. If I decide to make a return visit (and that's a big 'IF' right now) I will update my review accordingly. read more

My wife took a pair of shoes in to be resoled, came apart in 2 days ($70), and now they want only to give 1/2 back. No way. l The lady store manager is haughty, arrogant, and has no people skills. Found this recommendation through Yelp of course. If you aren't paying attention you'll drive right past it. It's next door to the medical equipment store. Tons of shoes when you walk in. You can tell he is quite the popular cobbler. The gentleman isn't all that personable but that's okay. Dropped my shoes off on a Thursday, told me to pick them the next Tuesday, which I felt was sort of a long time for some heel caps. But I wasn't in any rush. I had to get my Louboutin pumps stretched (bf bought a half size too small), so I dropped them off with the cobbler at around 9:30AM. I had a wedding to attend that evening at 5pm, so he said to just come by as late as possible to let the stretcher do as much as it could. I came by around 4:30pm and put them on. PERFECT. $6.50 to stretch them. I felt it was a great price for some perfect fitting shoes. I will be back! PS, he sells $200 croc thong sandals. A lady and I were giggling about it. This store is just amazing. I started using them last year since store I had used closed. They do such a great job on repairs and polishes. I took a pair in Thursday on way work and they were done before lunch! They also looked amazing I thought the scratches may not be fixable but they new like new again! Customer service is great. They are super nice in store and also computerized. You get an email when shoes ready - super convenient. Update: The guy working the front (Steve?) is just overworked. My last review was a little hard on him, he's slow, that's all. After waiting for 15 minutes to get service he couldn't find my shoes. Cue guy in the back to look for them elsewhere in the shop and 10 minutes later we find the shoes exactly on the rack with my last name perfectly legible. Staring right in front of our faces. I had to laugh, the folks behind me weren't amused bc frankly--the vibe in here compared to the other reputable shoe docs around town is TENSE. It is very awkward for a nice pleasant sunny Early May Day. It's like the line for TSA except we aren't going anywhere cool we are getting our shoes fixed... Their work was awesome. I will say they did exactly what they said they were going to do. And it was quoted correctly. My shoes were a very hard case. Dye was hard to find and they fixed those scratches all over my heels.
