    Shawarma Chicken Bowl
    Vy H.

One of my FAVORITE spots for lunch in downtown DC--I come here once a week because I enjoy it that much! Food is reasonable priced and huge portions. I highly recommend the Taverna Platter so you can try a few sides, rice, plus the main meat of your choice--I LOVE their Chicken Shawarma!! The hummus, pita bread and kibbeh are DELICIOUS as well, better than most places in the area. The Traditional Platter is another good option too. Also, they do have salads, bowls and sandwiches if the platter is too much. They have a small condiment bar, with different dipping sauces--the Garlic Toum is AMAZING and definitely gives the food more flavor! Food is prepared fairly quick--an ideal spot for lunch.

Great food - have been here several times when in DC for work and it never disappoints. Good "salsa" bar with all the Lebanon condiments.

This place was a breath of fresh air for "fast food". I brought my mother here for lunch and everything was spectacular. We're both big foodies who were both incredibly impressed! The service was friendly and quick, food was flavorful and SO fresh. We each ordered a platter which allows you to try a little bit of a bunch of things. They came with freshly baked pita and a variety of flavorful sauces and chili sauce. The tabouleh was incredibly fresh like they ran out to the yard and picked the herbs and vegetables. The falafel was crisp, hummus and lebneh were very fresh and flavorful. Highly recommend LEBTAV and will 100% be back!

LebTav is a fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant near Farragut Square in downtown D.C. If you go for lunch, it gets pretty busy and there isn't enough table space. They have two tables that fit four in the corners and two long tables in the middle. If you're in a group, plan on eating in the nearby park or back at your office. The food is not bad. I ordered the beef shawarma combo. It comes with two sides and I correctly picked fries (they came out so hot and tasty) and hummus (it comes with a long warm pita). Near the soda fountain are all types of sauces for your meal. All in all, it was a good experience.

Decent lunch place close to the White House and the World Bank. THe best is to order on line and pick it up. The sitting is very limited inside so if you don't get to this place before 12 pm on a weekday, you really must be luvKy to get a sit at one of the two community tables or two small individual tables. The line to order in store gets quite long at 12 pm . The service is very good: friendly and efficient. Portions are of decent size and quite tasty. I tried beef shawarma sandwich with two side choices ( I went for salad anD fires but should have taken hummus). There are eectra dressings that are self served at the utensils stand. Bread ( wrap) is multigrain,, very thin and freshly baked. Beef Was a bit on a dry ssittig but with tahini dressing it was just right. For those who like it spicy, there is also extra harissa dressing. A nice touch was an option of vegan baklava ( got it for my vegan daughter)

Since this is the new lunch spot, I decided to check it out. The vegetarian options include a variety of traditional Mezze and falafel is an option for their salads, sandwiches, and bowls. I ordered the falafel combo with salad and hummus. While I waited I noticed all of the dips. I like that they have recommendations. I of course packed 3 dips that I love and put them all on my sandwich. The tahini, tatziki , and spicy red sauce were all good. The hummus was very rich. I liked it since it is heavy on the tahini. It was a great addition to my falafel. The fresh bread was amazing and evidently is baked fresh every hour. The falafel was yummy overall but I wish there was more salad greens and tomato in it as a standard. I added my salad to it, which made it better rounded in terms of flavor and texture. Yummy addition to the lunch scene in Farragut square.

My rating is based solely on the food I tried. I was not impressed by the choice I selected which was the lamb sandwich. It lacked flavor and was a little overpriced. The price is to be expected for downtown. Maybe, I'm not a fan of Lebanese cuisine.

I wish I could give ZERO stars . I was excited to try this spot today. I ordered a Taverna platter with chicken. It wasn't amazing, but it was good...UNTIL... I got almost to bottom of my serving of bite sized chicken shawarma pieces, when I noticed a large piece of RAW chicken! Not undercooked...actually RAW. (see video here: https://share.icloud.com/photos/06tu6ZfmzF6MrBry3nwCBvNdg ) The manager refunded my money without any argument, but I just don't understand how an absolutely raw piece of chicken makes it out of your kitchen and onto someone's plate. Absolutely UNACCEPTABLE! Now I sit and wait for 2-10 days to see if I will develop salmonella or camphylobacter. Pray for me.

Great place for a light lunch snack, but lines were super long around lunch time and the seating is limited. ~Under than 20 chairs in the entire store. There is a huge shortage of Lebanese shawarma in the region and glad Lebtav can fill that void. Really like the complimentary sauce bar and pleased with the shawarma although it could use a little bit more protein. I made mine a combo meal and did not think the fries and salad were worth it. Salad was tiny and subpar and fries were mushy and cold. Staff was very nice. I found it odd they had chocolate candies in the jar by the registrar with no price and made it seem complimentary, but in fact cost money when I inquired.

I've recently returned at least three times and ordered my favorite "Pick Your Platter" which includes a flavorful Hommus and Baba Ghanoush with delicious Kibbeh served with their special bread. The food has been consistently well made each time and priced fairly respective to the platter portions. Based on my recent experiences, I'm updating my review to 5 stars. A special thank you to LEB TAV for being open during these challenging times!

Pick Your Platter: 4 sides and 1 protein. Cheese fatayer, rice, falafel, hummus, and chicken shawarma
    Cynthia I.

Lots of Mediterranean options to pick from! All fresh food, and you can get the best deal for trying different things with the platter option. The staff was friendly and service was quick. The food was delicious, reminded me of my time visiting Lebanon. The prices are very decent for being downtown DC. The only thing is the cheese fatayer tasted more like a Mexican empanada, but thats OK. All the food was hot and great portions. They also have a free "sauce bar" where you can get garlic sauce, tahini, or other salsas.

    Luis E.

Not worth it. I waited 15 minutes for this 11 dollar shawarma bowl that has a dry chicken breast and some onions thrown into a tasteless rice. Definitely was expecting more for the food. At least the staff was courteous and friendly.

    Exterior due to rioters.

Luckily, the manager asked the kitchen to do a special order for me, so I was able to try both of them! Moreover, when he learned that I wanted to make the manti, he even carefully explained to me how it was cooked! Thanks a lot!!! The Yara's Manti was basically small, boat shaped, half-covered dumplings baked in oil, then topped with yogurt and pine nuts. This is completely different from how Turkish or Afghan manti is made, thus having a different flavor as well. The baking procedure gave some crispiness to the dumplings, while the oil helped them to maintain sufficient moisture. These dumplings went well with the yogurt; I also tried sprinkling some sumac on them and it was great. However, the yogurt tend to get mixed with the oil when you move the dumplings. it would be better if they serve the dumplings (and toppings) in a separate, heated container. Yara's Tabbouleh is a creative twist to the traditional Tabbouleh. Besides the usual ingredients, there were diced beets and pomegranate arils. Both added some refreshing sweetness to the salad, and the beets also some hint of earthiness. The freshly baked pita was also delicious. Each piece weighed ~55-65g and was topped with sumac. Paired well with the other two dishes. The restaurant had a beautiful decor. At lunchtime there were not many people so it was relatively quiet. I will go there again the next time I visit DC! And I want to thank the resturant again for offering me the opportunity to try these dishes!

Here's why: - Quality: every item was fresh, and the falafel was not dry! I usually don't opt for falafel bc of how dry it is, but this one really wasn't! It was filling but moist and delicious. Also, the veggies and sauces paired well to give it flavor and texture. I feel bad writing this but I believe Writing Authentic and honest review may inspire the owner to level up his food . That said, the food quality did not meet expectations. The falafel was overly firm and dry. The Greek salad lacked freshness--the lettuce appeared past its prime, and the tomatoes were soft and aging. Overall, it felt like a basic tossed salad with feta rather than a well-composed dish. The hummus had a smooth texture, but the flavor suggested a blended oil rather than a clean extra virgin olive oil profile. The pita was the strongest element of the meal--fresh and well prepared. Additionally, the use of styrofoam containers detracted from the overall experience. In summary, while the service at closing was considerate, the food did not reflect what I would consider high-quality or authentic Greek cuisine. .

There's also a register around the counter, if you want to order in-person. The space was tight, but this is Georgetown and the restaurant is in a rowhouse (Note: you do have to climb a few stairs to get in). They have a self-serve water station and a designated crepe station for their workers in a nook by the front. There's narrow counter seating and some extra seating in the back of the restaurant. I'm always on the hunt for some good falafel, so I ordered the Falafel Sandwich ($10.50). They call it a sandwich but it's more of a wrap. It wasn't busy when we arrived after 10pm on a weeknight. Food was made in less than 10 minutes, but service was a bit taciturn. We ordered two sandwiches: the falafel ($10.50) and beef shawarma ($12.75). I do wish they labeled the items so that we could have easily identified whose was whose. A sticker, a marking, or any kind of indication would've been helpful so that we weren't stuck playing wrap roulette. The falafel was made to order (four pieces). The sandwiches were served nice and hot. I enjoyed the falafel, but the whole sandwich ate dry. You definitely need to get some sauce to top it off with. This was my first time trying Muncheez, so I didn't order any sauces because I didn't know any better. I didn't try the beef shawarma, but just unwrapping it, it was super, off-puttingly greasy. I'll admit that I've been spoiled by Falafel Inc.'s cheap and delicious sandwiches, sauces included. While Muncheez's sandwich is bigger, sturdier, and heartier than Falafel Inc.'s pita sandwich, it is also 2.5x more expensive, and I wouldn't go as far to say 2.5x better. While the menu selection at Muncheez's is more extensive and the late night hours make it convenient to grab a quick bite, Muncheez didn't fully dazzle.

Was warmly greeted, seated, and given an overview of the menu and brunch package options; decided to opt-out of the bottomless drinks, which had an alcoholic (mimosas and Bloody Marys) and NA (juices, sodas, drip coffee and black tea), as I wanted to try their more speciality coffee and tea. The drinks I ordered were the Turkish coffee, Levantine-style tea and digestive tea. All were quite solid. The Turkish coffee was as robust as espresso, yet not overwhelmingly bitter and slightly sweetened. The Levantine tea was a smooth black tea with natural sweetness and layered with a mint steep and floral notes of hibiscus, and rose petal. The digestive was more herbaceous with fennel and pomegranate zest, in addition to a steep of spearmint. The food was more hit-or-miss. On one hand, the meat and seafood was all very delicious and well-made. The braised lamb shank is their speciality, and well-deserved, as it's moist, savory and tender. The short rib similarly so, and the chicken casserole, lamb biajeen, Adana kebab and steamed lavraki (sea bass) were all similarly flavorful. On the other hand, the sides and mezze options were more mixed; the dolmas and fresh bites cheese with za'atar/nuts were delightful, however, the borek, cheeses, and some of the dips tasted reheated and/or not super fresh, the Brussels sprouts were quite scorched, and the savory salmon waffles were bone dry and flavorless. The French onion soup had the right flavor profile, but not the intensity; it tasted watered-down and even looked it, due to the noticeable oil blebs on the surface. Dessert was similar; the melon and fruits were fresh enough, the yogurt bar was quality, the kadayif nutty with the sweetness balanced, and the layali lubnan was intoxicatingly tasty, but many of the baked goods looked rather packaged and the fondue station was mediocre. The staff, however, were extremely friendly (my special regards to Mia, she's a great conversationalist and a sweetheart!). They answered all my questions, and one of the bartenders even gave me half a lemon to zuzh up my tea with. As I said at the start, more 3.5 stars than 3 stars. The core of their offerings are all quality, so I can't quite dock them a full two stars for the food quality because they had buffets aren't usually renown for said quality. You really can't expect perfection from AYCE, even though I naturally encourage the management to avoid sourcing pre-made items from Sysco if possible. The friendly staff and eloquent Eastern Mediterranean ambiance allows me to still say I enjoyed this experience, and may be back for dinner in the future.

I will say, for $17, I would love perhaps 3-4 of each item instead of just 2 each. The kibeh were super tasty and so were the cheese rolls, but the falafel were a bit dry. For our mains we got the lamb chops and the steak kabob - both were fantastic. Simple flavors but really well done on both ends, with both cuts of meat cooked to order. I will say, I would love a little bit more side veggies- especially for the $45 dollar lamb chops but I assume they expect you to order more sides like we did. Quick service, Arlington prices, a bit cold inside on a cold day. Will definitely be back to try more!
