One of my FAVORITE spots for lunch in downtown DC--I come here once a week because I enjoy it that much! Food is reasonable priced and huge portions. I highly recommend the Taverna Platter so you can try a few sides, rice, plus the main meat of your choice--I LOVE their Chicken Shawarma!! The hummus, pita bread and kibbeh are DELICIOUS as well, better than most places in the area. The Traditional Platter is another good option too. Also, they do have salads, bowls and sandwiches if the platter is too much. They have a small condiment bar, with different dipping sauces--the Garlic Toum is AMAZING and definitely gives the food more flavor! Was "OK" to "good" Didn't bowl me over for flavor; it was distinct and a little different than what I've tried before (and I'm not an expert). I could not quite make it up in my mind whether the flavor is same/better/not as good as other schwarmas I've eaten. Well, Falafel King in Boulder kicks it good, that I know. Prices are decent, portions are way big for those prices. Would prefer an option to pay a percentage less and get a half-sized portion (beef shwarma bowl) because I couldn't eat it all in one sitting and I had no place to store it where I was working that day. That said, the place was packed out, so plenty of people come here for lunch. The sitting areas are tight - If you eat in at lunchtime, you will have people crowding your table, either waiting in line or waiting to pick up food. This place was a breath of fresh air for "fast food". I brought my mother here for lunch and everything was spectacular. We're both big foodies who were both incredibly impressed! The service was friendly and quick, food was flavorful and SO fresh. We each ordered a platter which allows you to try a little bit of a bunch of things. They came with freshly baked pita and a variety of flavorful sauces and chili sauce. The tabouleh was incredibly fresh like they ran out to the yard and picked the herbs and vegetables. LebTav is a fast-casual Mediterranean restaurant near Farragut Square in downtown D.C. If you go for lunch, it gets pretty busy and there isn't enough table space. They have two tables that fit four in the corners and two long tables in the middle. If you're in a group, plan on eating in the nearby park or back at your office. The food is not bad. I ordered the beef shawarma combo. It comes with two sides and I correctly picked fries (they came out so hot and tasty) and hummus (it comes with a long warm pita). Near the soda fountain are all types of sauces for your meal. All in all, it was a good experience. read more

Since this is the new lunch spot, I decided to check it out. The vegetarian options include a variety of traditional Mezze and falafel is an option for their salads, sandwiches, and bowls. I ordered the falafel combo with salad and hummus. While I waited I noticed all of the dips. I like that they have recommendations. I of course packed 3 dips that I love and put them all on my sandwich. The tahini, tatziki , and spicy red sauce were all good. The hummus was very rich. I liked it since it is heavy on the tahini. It was a great addition to my falafel. The fresh bread was amazing and evidently is baked fresh every hour. The falafel was yummy overall but I wish there was more salad greens and tomato in it as a standard. I added my salad to it, which made it better rounded in terms of flavor and texture. I wish I could give ZERO stars . I was excited to try this spot today. I ordered a Taverna platter with chicken. It wasn't amazing, but it was good...UNTIL... I got almost to bottom of my serving of bite sized chicken shawarma pieces, when I noticed a large piece of RAW chicken! Not undercooked...actually RAW. Great place for a light lunch snack, but lines were super long around lunch time and the seating is limited. ~Under than 20 chairs in the entire store. There is a huge shortage of Lebanese shawarma in the region and glad Lebtav can fill that void. Really like the complimentary sauce bar and pleased with the shawarma although it could use a little bit more protein. I made mine a combo meal and did not think the fries and salad were worth it. Salad was tiny and subpar and fries were mushy and cold. Staff was very nice. Lots of Mediterranean options to pick from! All fresh food, and you can get the best deal for trying different things with the platter option. The staff was friendly and service was quick. The food was delicious, reminded me of my time visiting Lebanon. The prices are very decent for being downtown DC. To my surprise I found that the employees were not wearing their masks properly and handling food without gloves during COVID 19. I was walking around my hotel looking for dinner but most places were closed due to previous rioting and destruction. I found the Lebanese Tavern open for takeout only. I had never had Lebanese food before but I was hungry and like to try different foods. I ordered the Chicken Shawarma wrap and it was amazing! I'm now a Lebanese food fan! It's basically chicken, lettuce and tomato but the garlic sauce that they use have it the fantastic flavor. This location of Lebanese Taverna's fast casual concept has only been open for a few days. Right now, they're only serving lunch, but will expand to dinner soon. I came in for lunch around 12:15 on a Friday, and the line reached the door. I was prepared for a wait, but the line moved quickly, and my food came out soon after I ordered. The menu is above the counter, but there are also paper menus to browse while you wait in line. I ordered the taverna platter with falafel, which I believe I have had before at the Woodley Park sit-down location. It's a great lunch option, with salad, rice, hummus, and protein, all in nice lunch-sized portions. I was very happy with my meal. While you wait for your food to come out, you can help yourself to extra sauces, like garlic and tahini, as well as extra za'atar. Overall, I really enjoyed my visit to this new location, and I'm sure I will be back! Definitely a great new option for lunch in Farragut Square. read more

We waited over a half hour for our food as the takeout crowd waltzed in and received their food in under 10 min. When approached about our order, the staff was unapologetic and didn't seem bothered by the fact that although we had been waiting, they had yet to even start our order until I approached the counter and asked about it. When we finally received our food the falafel was cold. The food was just so-so. I would have given them 2 stars had the food been worth the wait. I'd avoid this place at all costs. There are better, faster and more authentic restaurants throughout downtown. Don't waste your money or your time here. read more

I've been to other locations of Lebanese Taverna -- including the market and cafe. This was the first time I went to the "LebTav" concept. They do not have much choice in terms of the kind of meat you can order...only shawarma meat which I'm not normally a fan of. I ordered the chicken shawarma rice bowl, which has pickled onions, garlic sauce, and Lebanese rice. The chicken was actually good -- not greasy like most shawarma around here. The rest of the bowl was unremarkable -- lots of rice, and not much else. They should have other toppings you can choose from - otherwise the bowl is too plain. Hence my "just ok" reviews. I will come back and try other things to see if I change my perspective. I've noticed it's always packed at lunch. read more

Great service - I witness the emergence of high quality fast food joints in the area. For $12.95 you get a choice of meat platter with choice of sides. They have high tops and two tables for those families with kids (including high chairs). Their favor choices for soda foundation are pretty fancy and delicious! In the past we have eaten and enjoyed meals at Lebanese Taverna. Today we got two takeout Falafel Rice Bowls from LabTev on 17th Street. The menu description was of falafel over Lebanese rice with tahini, pickled vegetables and roasted Roma tomatoes, with pita. We opted for no pita. What we got was a pile of dry rice with completely 5 tasteless , dry, STALE falafels ONE piece of picked beet and a PIECE of a Roma tomato. There was NO Tahini. The dinner we had hoped to enjoy was awful and a waste on money. I will never will be caught again by Lebanese Taverna. This was a total Ripoff! I'm in DC staying across the street from LebTav on 17th St. I did the WW II memorial and Lincoln memorial and was walking back to my hotel, feeling tired and sweaty, trying to figure out what to eat for dinner, when, LO AND BEHOLD!!! I saw LebTav was still open. OH.MY.GOD!!! Fantastic! I felt like a light dinner so did a shawarma salad with a side of hummous and garlic sauce. Everything was fantastically fresh and delicious! Everything was delicious - fries crispy, chicken shawarma was great (get the kids size if you only want a little), hummus so smooth and tasty.
